Having never read the original story that its based on (avoiding it here for spoilers), Jacobs and Goodman offered a good modern retelling of the story.

The book flowed well, and kept me interested, despite knowing a lot of the major plot points of the original story. While the big mystery of the story isn't compelling in of itself, the journey the main character takes is a good read, and when you get to the climax of the story, it does feel rewarding
