Me Tarzan -- You Jane

Moving on doesn’t always have to mean goodbye.

Widowed makeup artist Jane Sullivan is more comfortable keeping her husband's memory alive than dating a pool full of sharks. Ella, her 4 year-old daughter, is her whole world.

When Jane meets Lucas Oliver, famous cover model, it’s hate at first sight. His playboy persona rubs her the wrong way.

Accustomed to every woman fawning over him, Lucas is drawn to the shy, uncompromising single mom and completely melts at the sight of Ella. He is determined to convince Jane that sometimes a second chance can mend a broken heart.

Ever since I began writing and publishing books I've been on the run, always trying to write the next page, the next chapter, the next book. Every story was another journey, another discovery of what I could do and another evolution. All these years my motto was it doesn't matter who I am or where I come from, but what I leave behind is. I thought I have it all figured out.
Socrates, one of the biggest philosophers to ever grace humanity once said, "I am talking a crock of s***." I had no idea this expression dated hundreds of years ago and belongs to him, but who am I to argue with him? Needless to say, after some soul searching I realized my motto was a . . . pot of smelly stuff. I had a meltdown because, if you think about it, why would what I leave behind matter more than who I am here and now in this very moment? How will I ever know if what I left behind mattered with no way of seeing it? How am I gonna enjoy it? Think Socrates; does he know how much he touched humankind? Does he know people still remember him centuries later? And if he knows, does it make a difference?
I'm not sure. Frankly I doubt with all my heart it makes any difference to him. He's gone, like I'll be gone one day and instead of beating myself up to leave something behind me, I'm going to learn how to live here, now and totally enjoy it. No more worrying about tomorrow, but live today. No more five-year plans, but rather let the sun soak my skin, the air fill my lungs and the grass touch my feet. After all, I only live once.

Well, I promised myself I wouldn't make a review for this but, I felt like I had to explain what went wrong for me. From a French point de vue.

I had great expectations for this book. The blurb really appealed to me, Jane, the heroine is a makeup artist, young widow with a child, an enemy to lovers plot, Lucas, the hero is a model cover and has the reputation of being a man whore.

I was really excited to start this, unfortunately, by page 19 I realized I had a problem already. The heroine's voice sounded snotty to me. Jane really struck me as a condescending, judgmental woman.
I decided to keep reading still, motivated by the plot, I told myself that maybe it would all falls back together once both MCs would work on their mutual denied interest…

Well it didn't work at all. This book was filled with clichés, the time frames were all kind of blurry and the heroine's little girl felt like a filler in the story. I’ve been told the hero was not what he first appeared to be, but as it turns out, he was exactly how he first appeared to be. The heroine, en revanche, proved herself to be the complete opposite of what I thought she was. Pretentious, assuming, self centered.
I never connected with any of them.

One of my disappointments, I have to be honest, was the lack of "steam".

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind my romances books to be "clean", but in this case, once both of them accepted their reciprocal attraction, they never felt like a couple to me. When Jane finally invited Lucas into her home one night and the author told me the morning after that they finally did the deed. Well...
Okay?

I mean, they fought like crazy for half the book's length, building sexual tension, guarded feelings, but when they eventually gave in to these feelings the author decided to not show it? It was very confusing.
I think I liked them more when they were fighting.

There was also the problem of manufactured drama. Not one thing in this books felt legit to me. The heroine saved —early in the book— someone from an overdose... Which led to misconceived ideas about her involvement regarding the hero. Unresolved situations due to lack of communication... Fake and hurtful story built by the hero to protect his true love for the heroine... Like we say in french : J'en passe et des meilleures.

There finally was the case of : CLICHES.

When I opened this book, I had no idea the characters would travel to France. I have to say, whenever I read about a romantic novel set in France, I take extra precautions, I ask some friends for advice first about it. One of my absolute pet peeves in Contemporary Romance novels—when set in France— is inaccuracy.
Inaccuracies of translations, inaccuracies about a city, its habitants…

I mean, I get that foreigners have this romanticized idea of Paris, maybe because of a movie, a book, history, the architecture… Whatever the reason making you look at Paris like it holds magic is fine. I am myself very fond of this city and would not want to live anywhere else.
But every so often in romance books, Paris just look wrong to me. The descriptions or statements are false. And I would be okay to read such statements and descriptions in books, but not in the contemporary genre.

I mean, it really kills the mood to read a french phrase an author translated with Google Translate. It can kill a character to me,
It also divest any credibility to misspell places’ names, things and habits.
“Tall buildings line the crowded boulevards and people hurry in all directions, shivering in heavy, colorful winter coats. Vehicles honk, pedestrians jump out of nowhere, crossing in between cars. Somewhere in the distance I can make out the Eifel Tower, but it’s misty and too far away.”

I’m sorry but Effeil Tower, la Tour Effeil was named after his creator. Mr Effeil. I don’t understand how the author could take the liberty, to spell it Efeil tower. Maybe it was an omission? But twice?
I’m sorry but it re-enforces the idea that no researches were made prior to write this book.

There’s this moment in the book where they’re approaching the "Champs-Elysées" avenue. And the heroine says :
“People hurry in all directions on wide sidewalks, much wider than any I’ve seen back home in LA. Every other store is another café or bakery with stacked rows of pastry, and I find myself salivating just seeing them.”

I’m all for fantasizing about Paris streets, but Paris sidewalks are the narrowest I walked on, then if you’re in a car, driving on l’avenue des Champs-Elysées, —where the sidewalk is indeed very large here— you can’t see shit besides people, tourists, trees and opticians dealer shops. I mean seriously. Did she had binoculars in her car?

Of course they had lunch at Ladurée…
Where the bread was delicious and the butter better than anywhere else.
But they also ate croissants and pains au chocolats… I guess you can’t visit Paris without eating them.

(best croissant and bread in Paris, in my opinion : Du Pain et des Idees, 34 Rue Yves Toudic, 75010)

Now this little nugget of info is news to me : “Cabs don’t drive so far outside the city, smarty pants,” Lucas replies, his tone light.

A Parisian taxi can perfectly go outside the city. just so you know, next time you’re visiting and residing in your own "Hotel Particulier" outside of Paris. Yes, our lucky heroine spent her days in France in a little "Castle".

I know I am nit-picking here, but try to see it from my point of view.
It is my understanding that this book was not written for the french readers’ audience. So maybe all my points about clichés are moot. But still. I’d appreciate a little more research from author when setting a story in a city.

To conclude, "Me Tarzan, You Jane" had all the right ingredients to make a perfect little read, but inconsistencies and my lack of interest for the main characters didn’t help me to appreciate it.

Cami is an author who has always been nothing be kind and gracious towards me. She has been a long time participant in my blog tours & hops, and has always offered to help me out whenever I need something. When my life is crazy she is always one to send a message with kind words.

I have wanted to read one of her books for a long time but have never gotten around to it. When I saw the cover and summary for this one I thought I'd take a chance.

I honestly struggled through the first few chapters of this book wondering what I had gotten myself into. Lucas and his entourage of male models and beautiful women seemed to care for little else than drinking and sex. Not my type of book at all. So glad I stuck with it because after the first few chapters I fell in love with the characters and couldn't put this down.

I loved the friction between Lucas and Jane. Ella was an adorable addition to the story line. There were a few places in the story that could have been a little more polished. This is probably more of a 4 star book but when a book sucks me in and keeps me up at night reading it becomes a 5 star book.

While this book isn't "squeaky clean" overall the content is fairly mild. There is some language and some sexual content. I wouldn't give it to my teenager but I personally had no issues with it.

Rating: 5 Stars

Content: sexual content throughout but nothing graphically described (implied sex, fade to black). Some language.

Fun book. When it first started out, I was afraid it was going to be shallow (lots of references to hot guys, etc) but it turned out to be a thoughtful story with likable characters. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Make-up artist, Jane, lost her husband several years ago. So now it's just her and her four year-old daughter, Ella. She meets cover model Lucas Oliver at a romance writers convention. She doesn't like him or his player attitude on first sight. Until they are thrown together under many circumstances and they start to fall for each other.

This book wasn't sure what it wanted to be. We never really know how Jane's husband died. Jane has this very strict moral code, with no explanation of where it comes from considering her mother doesn't seem to see things the same way. Jane thinks there's only ever one person for you to ever love. Since her husband is dead, she's ready to live her life alone. But since her mother is married to a man she calls Pete, I don't know where that thought comes from. The book borders on having a very Christian theme.

It was just all over the place with little resolution to some of the open story points.

My review:

If anyone knows me, you know I am a sucker for this genre when reading romance. I did enjoy this book and I'm glad that I was given the opportunity to read it, but I didn't LOVE it. It was just missing a little something for me.

In this story, we have Jane who is a single mother of an adorable 4 year old angel. She was the cutest little thing! My favorite parts in this genre are usually the child/children with the new SO. There were a few scenes with Lucas and Ella, but not enough, in my opinion of course ;). So Jane is a makeup artist and aspiring author. She meets Lucas and he seems pretty taken with her initially because she absolutely does not throw herself at him like the rest of the girls around. Lucas has a player reputation that Jane wants no part of. She solely wants to focus on her daughter and herself after the death of her husband, her soul mate. I appreciated the fact that the deceased husband wasn't the focus of this story. It wasn't like she COULDN'T move on because her husband was dead, it was simply because she was so used to putting her daughter first. Lucas was wonderful with Ella.

One thing that bothered me -

Both Jane and Lucas have things to overcome before they can give themselves to each other freely. I felt like the romance was very slow developing and during that at times, I just didn't FEEL their connection. Maybe if there were more steamy scenes? More sexual tension? Instead we had a lot of denial and I didn't care for that. I did enjoy some of the sweet moments and vulnerability we got to see from Lucas. I also enjoyed how Jane took on that nurturing role when Lucas needed it. That was very sweet.

I am glad that I read this book and I am grateful that the author gave me the opportunity with an ARC in exchange for an honest and fair review.

Aspiring writer and makeup artist, Jane Sullivan has her life structured around her beautiful four year old daughter. Widowed and having to start over by herself, she keeps herself in rigid control. When she meets cover book model Lucas Oliver, it is hate at first sight. Lucas is smug, flirtatious and seems to enjoy poking fun at her. Jane can admit that she has made some assumptions about the man, but he has no tact. Until they both agree to a timid friendship, Jane begins to wonder if maybe she will have a second chance with a man who she could love.

Very fun read. I felt for Jane, I think she was so wrapped up in her protective bubble she stopped living a bit. Lucas you want to smack a time or two but he redeems himself, especially when it comes to Jane's daughter. Perfect story for the holiday season.

Oh my goodness! What a amazing ride it has been with Lucas and Jane.

Jane Sullivan is a widowed mother of 4 year old Ella who works as a high end makeup artist, but is also a closet writer.
While at a writers conference, she meets the jaw dropping, sexy model Lucas Oliver.
With her oh so famous eye roll, Jane immediately writes Lucas off as the self center playboy he appears to be.
It isn't until her top client takes her and Ella along for a job in Paris, that she begins to discover the man behind the pretty face.

As I sit here writing this review, trying to think of what I disliked about this book... I am drawing a blank.
I honestly loved this book. The writer did an amazing job with this one.
I guess the only disappointing thought is obviously that I can't have a Lucas of my own... I mean hello, where can I get one?
I am giving this book 5 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You won't be able to put this book down!!!

Camelia Miron Skiba offered to give me my choice of any of her books. I instantly picked Me Tarzan You Jane. I loved the title and it sounded really cute. I was not disappointed! Jane Sullivan is widowed mother, happier with the memory of her dead husband than dating. Cover model, Lucas Oliver has woman falling all over themselves to be near him. When Jane doesn't fall at his feet he is intrigued. Can Lucas convince Jane to believe in second chances?

There was so much I loved about this book. I loved when Lucas would tease Jane. Her reactions were priceless. Jane's daughter Ella Rae is so adorable and best of all I LOVE when the title is used in the book! I love books that have sexual tension and Me Tarzan You Jane delivers. Jane and Lucas are very different. Jane has a very narrow view of how the world should work and Lucas just doesn't fit into it. Everything about him goes against her morals, but at the same time she can't stop her growing attraction to him. Especially when he is so good to her daughter. Lucas has a more modern view on love and sex but there is a lot more to him than being a cover model.

Fair warning once you start reading, it is impossible to stop. I read it one day!!!

Me Tarzan--You Jane took me quite by surprise, at the beginning at appeared as if the story was going to be about hot guys who party it up and sleep with a different girl every night.. so when it switched to a writers conference and we meet the characters of 'Jane' Jane Sullivan,a young widow and writer who has entered the contest for for getting an agent and hopefully getting her book published and 'Tarzan' Lucas Oliver,a very handsome male model.
Their first meeting is a clash to begin with her immediately disliking, no hating him and he wondering why she is not throwing herself at him like all the others do! Jane finds Lucas to be everything her late husband wasn't and this infuriates her by him being all that she hates an handsome self assured 'shark' who uses his looks and status to sleep with every woman around, she calls him an arrogant a**hole over and over. Lucas finds Jane to be unlike any other woman he's met, usually they are fawning all over him but she pushes all his buttons the wrong way,and this he finds most intriguing and makes him go all out to get to know her better!
Jane is living with broken heart following the death of her beloved husband(4 years ago), she's stuck in the past, very old fashioned and unwilling to change. She tries to be strong all the time, will not let it be said that she need a man to lean on to make her life better, but in fact is very vulnerable and although she won't admit it she needs to move on with her life if only for the sake of her 4 her old daughter,Ella a cute and precocious youngster. When her mind thinks of Lucas she is a bit of a shrew!
Lucas is a male model and business man at the top of his game, both handsome and very charismatic.. who wants to prove to her that there's more to him than a pretty face and his public persona. That he is in fact a man of many different facets, like being a major sponsor for the Polar Bear Charity which helps children with renal failure and going through dialysis etcetera. The friction between them is softened because of her daughter,Ella who takes to Lucas the first time she sees him, much to her mother's dismay, calling him 'Mr Sir Lucas' and throwing herself into his arms.
Fate keeps throwing them together and Jane slowly thaws towards him, until something occurs and she feels betrayed by his actions and wants nothing to do with him EVER! Lucas then redeems himself making her believe and trust him once more and then they rebuild their relationship.. I loved the ending!
I found that Me Tarzan--You Jane was in fact quite different to what I was expecting, especially from the way it started and because it was I had to read into the night to finish it, and am glad I did! I just had to finish it needed to find out more about the relationship between Jane and Lucas hoping for a happy ending!
Me Tarzan--You Jane has nothing to do with the title,it is about two people Jane Sullivan and Lucas Oliver, Jane who have such animosity towards Lucas to enduring his presence liking each other to love! The two main characters grow throughout the story both from being a little selfish, through the stages of a relationship to long lasting love and they went through a lot to get to the ending! Which I enjoyed tremendously and hope there will be a follow up book, but probably not. The secondary characters, Ella shows what a wonderful father Lucas with all the different interactions they have like him looking after her while she was sick and then him getting sick himself etcetera... he loves the time he spends with both her and Jane..and to think he almost lost them! The secondary characters of Vivienne and Marie also play parts in the love story, both of them quite quirky.

Camelia Miron Skiba's Me Tarzan--You Jane is an absolute delight, just don't be put off by the beginning the story drew me in and held my attention until the end, going through all the ups and downs causing many different emotions throughout, I absolutely loved it. 5 Stars for an awesome job, for a book that I would never have picked up for myself but was a gift from the author I was amazed to say the least I absolutely loved it!!

I wasn't going to post a review (I'm lazy that way), leaving it to everyone else saying what they liked/ didn't like about the book. But then I got sucked in by everyone's reviews and the more I read them, the more I thought I should write one too.
Some reviews were spot on, others . . . well, I wondered if we were reading the SAME book.
In a few words this is what I think about Me Tarzan You Jane:
1. Plot: From a non-existent/at-each-other's-throat/can't-stand-the-sight-of-you well described (and totally in agreement with) situation the story follows the development of a relationship, its ups and downs, its trials and crisis, leading eventually to what the protagonists deserved--happily ever after. 5star

2. Characters: Jane and Lucas are two people who couldn't be more different and complicated yet flawed, misjudged individuals. Jane reminded me so much of my sister (she's reading the book now, but not before rolling her eyes at me LOL), living such a corseted lifestyle and yet breaking out of those tight, self-imposed rules for one more shot at love, when she least expected.
Lucas is your typical bad-boy, arrogant SOB in so many ways, but as much as I wanted to hate him I just couldn't. I absolutely loved it how he treated little Ella, and absolutely loved how he was pressing Jane's buttons all the times. My favorite thing about Jane and Lucas was that they were equals in this relationship, and equally emotionally involved in it. Love didn't come to them overnight. Love didn't pave their road with red rose petals and triumphant flutes, but rather put them through the ringer. In many ways it reminded me of Nicholas Sparks novels, where the heroes come together and then bam! something happens. Kind of like in real life. 5star

3. Pace: First 8 or so chapters span over 3 months. The readers gets accustom to Jane's lifestyle, personality, career, family and what matters most to her. The next 10 chapters happen in France where Lucas and Jane get to really know each other. Starting with ch 19 the story returns to the State until end of the story which is ch29. These last 10 chapters move at a faster pace. I would've liked for the pace to slow down a bit, to get to know Jane and Lucas as a couple. 4star

Overall impression: Really enjoyed the story. Believable characters, cute secondary characters, easy plot.
For those of you looking for: christian/religious/inspirational/erotica/travel guide/French-for-dummies novel, Me Tarzan You Jane is NOT for you.

For those of you looking for: a fun, relaxing, easy read, some humor, single-parent, overcoming obstacles, finding love and second chances, novel, Me Tarzan You Jane IS for you.

After Jane's husband dies her whole world becomes Ella, her 4 year old daughter. She's a makeup artist who lives in the past to keep her husband's memory alive. She doesn't believe in second chances. She thinks that she can only have one true love and is perfectly fine with living alone for the rest of her life.

When she meets Lucas it's hate at first sight. She thinks that he's an entitled, conceited jerk who always gets his way when it comes to what he wants. She can't stand him and does anything and everything to stay far away from him.

Lucas has never met anyone like Jane before. He's used to women who fall at his feet but when Jane goes out of her way to avoid him, he becomes intrigued. When he meets her daughter, Ella, she melts his heart and wraps him around her little finger. He was seriously so cute with her! I loved all their interactions and they melted my heart more than once. Seriously. Adorable!

Jane and Lucas definitely got off to a rocky start. But when they have to stay in the same guest house while on a trip to Paris for Madame V, they slowly start to get to know each other and become friends. Things happen that bring them closer together. I enjoyed seeing them go from disliking each other, to friends, to falling in love.

Of course since they got off to a rocky start, you just know that their relationship is not going to be any easier. Outside forces definitely play a roll in turning their lives upside down even more. Can they weather the outside elements and stay together? Or will it prove to be too much? Will Jane's original thought of no second chances keep them apart?

Yes I enjoyed the book. Yes I couldn't put it down. So why the 4 star review? There were parts of the story that really weren't explained. Characters that would randomly show up out of no where and you were supposed to know who they are. I did get a bit confused a time or two and ended up going back a few times to see if I had missed something. Another reason would have to be because of one of my biggest pet peeves... the book just ended! Grrrr. I seriously hate that! I need closure people! Even if it's just a one or two paragraph epilogue. Just give me something... please?! Lol.

This was my first book by this author and I think I will be checking out some of her other books. Who knows... I just might end up with another author added to my favorites list. :)

Content: Some language throughout the book. Sexual content (non descriptive implied sex, fade to black).

Between 3 and 4 stars...I have mixed feelings on this one. And I bounced back and forth on a 3 or 4 star rating (I NEED half-star ratings to be available, Goodreads!!) The way the book started out made me think I probably wasn't going to finish it, because it seemed like it was going in one direction and the hero seemed SO shallow...but then I read reviews from readers I trust that said it was only the first few chapters, which is true. However, there is some stuff throughout that I could have done without. No sex is described, but it's talked about throughout (not constantly, but often)...so that makes it hard for me to really resonate with the story and believe it was true LOVE, not just lust. The characters did fall in love...it just would have been more believable to me if their sex life was mentioned less. And it was kind of odd to me that she had this "strict" moral compass, but she made so many exceptions. I don't know, I think it would have made more sense if her moral compass was never mentioned, but to mention it, then have her sleep with the guy, talk about how he has to show up after her daughter is in bed and leave before she gets up, spend the weekend with him, but say that moving in is where she draws the line? Kind of negates the "moral" in moral compass for me. I don't know...I think it made it hard for me to connect with Jane. And that made her seem a little inconsistent.

But...I did like the storyline...I liked that it wasn't insta-love (actually more like insta-hate, growing into attraction they both fought, then love)...I loved how Lucas was with Ella. Super sweet.

Anyway...content-wise, there were a few mild swear words, and implied or closed door sex. There were a few times it seemed like it was going fade to black, but I just skipped ahead and it was over, so I'm assuming there were no described scenes, because it was one swipe on the Kindle and then the scene was over.

Again, It's hard for me to land on a definitive star rating, so I'll give it a 3.5. I found myself wanting to pick up the book to find out what happened, but at the same time, it left something to be desired. I feel like maybe this is more of a "try it yourself" to see if it's for you. PS--this one wrapped up way too quickly after the conflict was resolved...it definitely needed an epilogue!

Okay....I gave this book a 5 star rating but I didn't really care for the beginning. And I almost put it down because I didn't think I wanted to finish reading it but I changed my mind after Jane and Lucas' first interaction. I had to see what was going come of it. I just wasn't sure if I was going to like Jane or not because the way she came off in the beginning. She's kind of an uptight bitch when you first meet her.

Needless to say, Jane and this book grew on me and the more I read the more I fell for Lucas Oliver and this story. I loved their banter back and forth and the tension that it caused. Halfway through the book, I was already screaming "kiss him already!" to my phone (I was reading on the Kindle app), which caused my husband to wonder if I had lost my mind.

I really connected with Jane once I learned that she had lost her husband. When my daughter was 2 (she's 4 now), her father passed away in a tragic accident and dealing with it was really hard. Especially trying to figure out how to deal with the loss and not let it control my entire life. And then my amazing husband came along and like Lucas, he fell in love with my little girl and the rest is history. It really hit home and once I realized how much Lucas cared for little Ella (great name, by the way), I was really cheering for Lucas and Jane to quit being stubborn and get together.

One of the greatest things about this story, in my opinion, was Jane's character. It was refreshing to read a character who wasn't immediately ready to bed some man just because he was good looking and nice to her. Jane had morals and tried as hard as she could to make sure she stood by them. She was also a good mother and I liked that Ella had a significant role in the story.

I could go on and on about this book but I won't because I'm afraid I'll give away too much. I did add going to Disneyland in France to my bucket list, though!

I absolutely LOVED this book. The author has a gift with words! She uses words and analogies in just the right way to paint vivid pictures in your mind as you read the book. I love that the story between Lucas and Jane is a real one. I felt like it was something that really could happen. I found myself cheering them on in their quest to get to know each other and was sad during struggles that they had. I also loved that there was conflict in their relationship and that they had to choose to work together and overcome fears or end their relationship. I promise that you will not be disappointed if you read this book.

Once I opened Me Tarzan -- You Jane, I really couldn't put it down. I had so much fun reading this book and laughed and cried along with it. A truly entertaining book, yet again from the talented Camelia Skiba. And a perfect read for snuggling by the fire at home during this Winter season too! The main characters Jane and Lucas will draw you in and make you cross your fingers for a sequel.

DISCLAIMER: I received a copy of this book as part of a blog tour.

Bookworms, this one is for you! This book incorporate select elements of the publishing/author world, giving light to the process it takes to get a published book on the shelves. I think what I loved most about this book was how refreshingly clean it was. Yes, there was those topics brought up, but they were behind closed doors. Don't get me wrong. We all love a fantastic, steamy read, but now and then, a read like this just wins your heart completely. Or is that just me?

MY RATING: 5 OF 5 STARS.

I do not know if I can stress how wonderful this book was for me. I devoured it. TWICE. Yes, I read this book twice, and it only got better and better. This is definitely going to be one of my top favorite reads in 2017. I would highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy authors such as Lindsay Paige. Amazing plot with characters that stay with you long after you've finished reading.

I'm so glad I read the reviews for this book before I read the story. This way I was prepared. If I hadn't read them first I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten too far into the story before quitting. I'm glad I stuck it out. There were some grammatical errors and typos and some blatant mistakes that didn't make sense. Also, there was quite a bit of swearing and this book is not "clean" (sex is mentioned several times and some of the wording is quite descriptive). However, I pushed past these things and just focused on the story. I really enjoyed how the story unfolded and the relationship between the main characters grew and developed. The daughter, Ella, was adorable. I really liked this story in the end. Although the title is mentioned once in the story, I really didn't find it was the right choice for the book. I didn't find it matched the storyline. Once I got into the story, I had a hard time putting it down.

I've read a few of Camelia Miron Skiba's books and I was expecting the same emotional roller coaster when I picked Me Tarzan--You Jane. The title alone intrigued me, once again unlike anything I read by her. The same is valid for the cover and the blurb, setting the tone to fun, relaxed and light read.
The book is written in the heroine's point of view, Jane O'Malley. Widow, makeup artist, mother to a 4yr. old girl, Jane is a closet writer, until she submits a short story to a contest and wins 1st place. Forced to come out of her shell, Jane travels to a writers's conference. There she meets trouble.
Enter Lucas Oliver, not just a pretty face, but a real playboy, self-assured, self-made and confident the entire population of women has nothing better to do but to drool over him.
These two couldn't be any more different and that was what really appealed to me. I love friction between the main heroes. Me Tarzan--You Jane delivers exactly that. I love seeing either the hero or the heroine truly transform throughout the length of a novel. I love it when a character I don't care much about in the beginning (you guessed it right, Lucas) totally wins me over by the end of the book. Both Jane and Lucas peeled layers of stubbornness, rigidness, shallowness, indifference, judgement, to become better people and most importantly, to give love a chance. Both had tons of flaws, making them so humanly alike, and not some one-dimension characters so hard to identify with sometimes.
The story moves at a constant pace. It begins with the characters meeting for the first time. Then they went their separate ways only to meet again at the photo shoot for Jane's boss, skips a few weeks and moves to Paris. if the first chapters we get to know Jane, her likes and dislikes, her routine and who she is, in Paris we have the chance to see who Lucas is. For severals chapters the story enfolds in Paris, before returning to the US. The time Lucas and Jane spend in Paris is crucial to building the increasing attraction between them. I was ready to smoke a cigar by the end of chapter 18.
I have to admit at first I was disappointed the author didn't follow Jane and Lucas into the bedroom. I put the book down half a day, but then I had to pick it up; torturing myself wasn't working.
You probably ask if I was disappointed why did I give it 5 stars? Well, it's simple: because knowing who Jane was at that point, how private she kept her life, what her morals were, there was no way she would've told the reader what they were doing in bed. If the story would've been written from the narrator's point of view, it would've been a complete different story. Not only was the author smart in doing that; she totally made her heroine believable and true to who she painted her to be in the first place.
Anyone enjoying a light read, single parent story, flawed characters and a plot you don't know where it ends, this is a book for you.

Me Tarzan You Jane is a delightful story of love lost, found, and second chances. Author Camelia Miron Skiba weaves a sweet tale of an unlikely romance between a widowed single mother and a cocky and conceited cover model.

Widow Jane Sullivan is a make artist, aspiring writer, and single mother to adorable four year old Ella. Jane lost her husband who was her soul mate four years ago, and since then her world has revolved around taking care of her daughter. She believes that a person only gets one true love in their life, and she doesn't believe in second chances.

Lucas Oliver is a cocky, smug, flirtatious, and famous playboy cover model who is used to women falling all over themselves for his attention.

Jane meets Lucas when she attends a writers convention, and for Jane it is dislike at first sight. But Lucas is drawn to Jane because she doesn't swoon all over him like the other women. A friendship slowly develops between Jane and Lucas when fate keeps bringing them together. Jane begins to see Lucas in a different light when she sees how he interacts with her daughter Ella. As feelings develop between Jane and Lucas, can their blossoming romance lead to a second chance at love?

Me Tarzan You Jane is an wonderful romantic story that easily draws the reader into Jane and Lucas' story. You can't help but get caught up in their story as it slowly unfolds from an uneasy start and develops into a friendship and slow budding romance with the help of an adorable little four year old girl who helps break down the walls around her mother's heart. I loved the sassy interactions and obvious chemistry between Jane and Lucas, and who wouldn't fall in love with an adorable little girl who simply melts everyone's heart? I loved that the author portrays Jane as a strong woman who is still vulnerable, and how Lucas' cocky personality changed as he worked so hard to make Jane open up her heart to him, and show her that she can have a second chance at love.

Through the trials and tribulations that Jane and Lucas endure on their journey, the reader will thoroughly enjoy following the development of their romantic relationship. With a fun cast of characters; witty dialogue and dramatic interactions; passionate romance; richly descriptive settings; and a light-hearted romantic storyline; Me Tarzan You Jane is a feel-good second chance romance story that will melt your heart and leave a smile on your face.

Jane Sullivan, make-up artist by day, writing under the pseudonym of Jane O’Malley, enters a short story contest on a whim and is invited to a writers’ convention in Phoenix. She is thrilled with the excitement of meeting some of her favorite authors. She is not as impressed with the male models all the women are fussing about. Everyone wants to pay to have their picture taken with the sexy male models and Lucas seems to be the favorite, but when Jane meets him, he seems to be nothing but a conceited, rude, arrogant playboy. True, he is extremely good looking but when Jane’s husband died 4 years ago, leaving her a single mom, she promised herself she would never take a second chance on a man and focus her love on her 4 year old daughter, Ella. She is awakened in the middle of the night by noise coming from the hotel room next to hers. She covers her head with a pillow and tries to go to sleep but finally decides to go ask the “neighbors” to quiet down. As it turns out, the neighbor is Lucas Oliver hosting a party for the male models and several bimbos hanging all over them. They all appear drunk so she turns off their music and claims to be an undercover cop and threatens them all with disturbing the peace. She helps 3 of the men to their respective rooms and as she comes back for another, hears vomiting. When she gets there, Lucas’ brother has stopped breathing and she is forced to do CPR to try to save him. As she works to save Cameron’s life, she whacks Lucas and insists he call 911. As soon as the paramedics arrive, she returns to her room to try and get a little sleep. When Lucas seeks her out to thank her for saving his brother’s life, physical attraction sizzles between them and Jane avoids him as much as possible. When Jane wins the short story contest, work with Lucas is one of her prizes, forcing them to be thrown together again. They end up in Paris together and Lucas meets Ella and the plot thickens. SPOILER ALERT: I was disappointed when Jane threw her morals away and slept with Lucas. She hadn’t even slept with her husband before they were married. She had several self- imposed “Commandments” that she chose to break. I felt she was stronger than that. However, I was glad that she gave love a second chance. The characters are likable and it is well written.

Jane Sullivan is a widow trying to become an author in between her makeup artist sessions and taking care of her 4 year old daughter Ella. She doesn't want another man in her life, she feels humans are meant to be with just one person for their whole lives, so why can't she seem to stop thinking of the repulsive Lucas Oliver?

I very much enjoyed this story. I know what it is like to lose someone in your life and living in the past. I lost my brother a year ago and it doesn't get any easier. I tend to try to live in the past too because moving on without him just seems to be too much. I enjoyed reading Jane's side of it and able to see myself as I read. I feel like this book helped more out more than just being a cute romance with lots of angst.

Jane can be a bit of a prude though I don't think she means to be that way. She is so stuck in her ways she is afraid to bend, even if it makes her life better. Sometimes I wanted to yell at her and tell her to stop but I know it is easier said than done. I liked being able to read what is in her head and how she feels. She sees her ways but tends to flip flop back and forth with her emotions. It made for a funny and interesting read.

I really liked Lucas as a character. I was able to picture him very well and I do wish this was a dual POV novel so I would be able to understand his ways a little better too, especially with things that happen at the end, no I won't tell you! no spoilers!! I loved getting to know Lucas and finding out his initial view of him isn't all that it seems. He is such a hard worker with a heart of gold. Anyone would be lucky to come across a Lucas of their own!

This book was full of emotional turmoil, laughter, anger, happiness, and of course depression. I loved being a part of the roller coaster. For a romance there was so much going on that made this book so much more. It made you look at your own life to see things you might want to change. It will also make you appreciate what you have. I also got a major sense of the message to never give up and no matter what, you deserve a second chance.

Here's to love and second chances in all aspects of life!

Jane likes routine, likes her walls, and the bubble that surrounds her and Ella, her four-year old daughter. She likes her peace - until she came across Lucas Oliver a book convention. She didn't like him at first, she found him overbearing and arrogant. Exactly not her type. Exactly dangerous to her peaceful existence.

She was the first woman who didn't really like him, and it was new for Lucas Oliver who seemed to have every woman fawning over him. He likes her, and even more so, her irresistible daughter Ella. He was determine to win her, and will do anything to woo her and the little girl she loved the most.

Day by day, her walls begin to crumble as she allow him in her world. Everything was just falling into pieces. First impression weren't build to last. Just as when everything seemed to be perfect, someone came and tries to ruin it all for them.

Will their new-found happiness and relationship survive it all?

This type of books make me wish for a dual POV, not that Jane's ranting were annoying. But I would kill to know what's inside Lucas' mind. Especially when he told her THAT. Argh. Nevertheless, Jane is a likable character. She has some flaws, and that's a given, but I love seeing the change that she underwent as the story progresses. I applaud the way she FINALLY stood up at the near-end of the novel. That scene was worth waiting for. Although, there were some scenes which I had expected, but never occured. And Ella - this girl is totally amazing and I really adore her.

Nice characters, interesting plot and awesome ending. It's a clean, feel-good, second-chance contemporary romance that can melt hearts..

Warning: May contain spoilers

I thought this was a really good book, the characters were great I enjoyed Lucas and Jane, and Ella was adorable. The first half of the book was great with sparks flying, I didn't find Jane all that likeable at times but she was an interesting character. I did feel that Jane being a widow was a big thing at times in the story but it seemed that the author almost forgot to finalise that part of the story for me. Jane struggled with the loss of her husband, still wearing his clothes as pj's, but she never really let him go in any real way in the story which I found strange. I thought Lucas was really funny and likeable except for the incident involving the car accident, but I didn't like the way the book was finished with his story not fully finished, I'm not sure if their will be a second book (which will really annoy me if I knew that I wouldn't have brought the book) but it almost needs one to be fully finished - or at least another few chapters. I also felt that the second part of the book was a little rushed and maybe that's why it ended a little abruptly.

I did like the inclusion of Ella in this story, she is Jane's daughter and added a sweetness to the story as she was a major part of the story and the author did really well with the balance of the romance part of the story and including a young child in the mix. Ella was integral in the storyline but her part didn't overwhelm Lucas and Jane only added to creating a really good book.

It was a good read for the most part but I felt the second part of the book let it down. I would suggest reading it if you think it sounded interesting because it was a fairly good enemies become lovers book.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I used to think I was a YA kind of person but the more I read Contemporary Romance the more I love it. And books like this one is the reason why.

The Story

Jane Sullivan is a widowed makeup artist and aspiring writer. And while in a writers conference in Phoenix she meets book covers model Lucas Oliver, your typical bad boy, player and conceited hollywood star, who can really push her buttons.

But Jane can´t help how her body reacts when Lucas is around. Fortunately the conference is over and that mean to more seeing Lucas. At least that is what she thinks, until her best client turn out to be Lucas’ best friend.

Now, after taking a job in Paris, she gets the surprise that has to share a house with Lucas while the job lasts.

Turns out Lucas isn´t what he looks like, he is also a sweet man and a god brother and son. And also Ella, Jane’s daughter loves him.

Would they survive the time together or will they kill each other in the attempt.

My Thoughts

When I first started the book I just thought, ok this is the typical ‘girl fall in love for the bad boy’ kind of book. But after I keep reading I realize is nothing like that. Yes, at first it maybe that type of story, but as the story progresses an d we get to know the real Lucas everything changes.

I really like the role that Ellas plays in the story, is that link that doesn’t let Jane get away from Lucas as much as she wants to.

And of course when you think everything is going to be perfect from now on, there is a major story twist that make just wanna scream WHAAAT?? and surely the only solutions is to keep reading. Xo

I was gifted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I adored this book. The characters were so alive for me that I was actually sad when the book ended. I wanted more. Maybe the author will be kind enough to write about each of the male models mentioned here (HINT HINT) :)

Jane Sullivan is a hot mess. Widowed for four years all she has to hold onto is her four year old daughter. After her loss, she manages to make it day by day by being in control of all aspects of her life. Trying to get on with her life she picks up her hobby of writing stories and is invited to a writers convention were she comes head to head with Lucas Oliver. She hates him from first sight. Believing him to be a conceited a#$hole that gets by on his looks.

Lucas doesn't know what to make of Jane. She is the first woman to not fall at his feet from first sight. She infuriates him to no end. But most of all she intrigues him as he finds out more about her and her past. He instantly falls in love with her daughter Ella, and despite Jane's objections intrudes on their lives every chance he gets.

Jane appeared to be so strong most of the time but there was a vulnerability to her that made me sad. She kept people at arms length. Always scared of losing someone else she cared for. Lucas worked so hard to make Jane open up to him. There were a few parts in this book where I wanted to kick him but he made up for it by the end. The author made these characters come to life for me. I thought Ella was absolutely adorable!

If your looking for a heartfelt story this is the book for you.

I have to admit that I wasn't sure what I'd gotten myself into when I started this book. Sexy cover models having drunken parties...?? Hmm... but I'm glad I stuck with it because the characters in this book grew on me and I was rooting for them the rest of the way through.

Something I enjoyed about this book is that we get to find out what happens AFTER they fall in love. There is the usual - she's plays hard to get, he pursues her, and finally - finally! - they get together. Most books of these types end at this point. There was already quite a bit of conflict up until this point. But this book keeps going. We get to find out what happens AFTER and some of the consequences of their relationship. I really enjoyed that about this book.

Another great addition to this book is the sweet daughter of Jane, Ella. She adds a lot of cuteness and humor to this novel and I really liked her.

This book kept me reading well into the night to find out what happened between Lucas and Jane. Would she finally let him in? Was he really the playboy everyone thought he was? Was he as conceited and arrogant as he first appeared?

I also really appreciated that even though they ended up thrown together living together for a couple weeks, they didn't automatically fall into each others beds. What a relief! Jane was cautious and although she was attracted to Lucas, she didn't fall to pieces at her first moment alone with him which endeared them to me all the more.

I really enjoyed this novel and I'd be happy to read more from this author!

Living after her husbands death four years ago is all Jane has been doing. She's a writer, a makeup artist, and most importantly a mom. She had her love and isn't looking for another man to come into her life, until Lucas keeps appearing in it.

He's arrogant, cocky, and an all around ass, but he's also goregous and what everyone sees from the outside isn't all he is. Through a job Jane has in Paris she finds herself learning about he man behind the mask, and the more time they spend together the more she wonders just who Lucas really is.

When past and present colide will they find strength in each other or will their newly found friendship crumble?

It took a long time for me to like Lucas all his interactions throughout the first half of the book made me agree with Jane and roll my eyes. But seeing him with Ella there was another side to him I enjoyed watching come out and once he began to lose the faciade I began to like him even more.

Jane has had her share of heartache and it's made her more careful. I loved seeing her lose some of her stiffness as the story continued and felt like I was there cheering her on as she began to really live her life instead of just go through the motions.

Good afternnon of reading this one, although I do with there had been an epilogue or something more there at the end.

It took me a little while to get into this book. It started off shaky with a whole bunch of stuff that I don't really love in my "clean" books. I almost put it down but decided to give it another chapter or two to see if things settled down or kept up.

When Jane and Lucas finally become more isolated as characters in the book and we start to get to know them more individually, I enjoyed the book a lot more. The growing friendship and romance was good. I think the book is well written and it kept my attention.

I wouldn't classify this book as "clean" though. Even though there are no descriptive sex scenes, there is plenty of sexual talk, innuendo, and sex behind closed doors. Alcohol and drinking are prominent in this book, and in most situations lead to unhealthy places (not knowing who you slept with, ER, etc.). There is also swearing and profanity. So, this book crossed the "clean" line for me. If those things don't bother you, you will probably really enjoy this book.
