woot-woot!!! The Nysein: Release is a great second book for a series.Beth Mikell cut short as far as her descriptions are concerned and concentrated mostly in the flow and the characters' personality and relationships. The Nysein: Release picks up after the end of The Nysein: Salvation and turns the attention to King Darien's right hand, Maxim whom we encountered in various situations in the first book and Kendra, one of the Elementals, more precisely the Mistress of Water.
Maxim, during the first book and in the beginning of the second , is portrayed as a easy-going, carefree guy, with a past full of women and sex (his type is commonly known as a manwhore) who goes with the flow of things. nonetheless, he is loyal to his king and always ready to protect him and his queen. the catch to the character Max projects to his surroundings is the "manwhore" title. this used to be the truth but Maxim hadn't touched a woman in more than 70 years.ever since then, every single time he touches a woman, he feels sick, no matter how beautiful or enticing she is. enter our female main character Kendra. As the Elemental who controls the water, Kendra seems to be temperamental. while she can be gentle and peaceful, Kendra can transform into a furious, jealous and dangerous mess, who can't control her feelings.
Kendra, on her side, has lusted and loved Maxim for over a hundred years.her one-sided love has drove her mad,due to her wondering the whys that separate her from Max and the whos Maxim is sleeping with. not wanting to prolong her suffering and after deciding that enough is enough, Kendra sets to seduce Max and make him hers for enternity.
a little fall here, a little voyeurism there, and a lot of pushing from Kendra as well as a huge misunderstanding involving Ahmyah(Kendra's sister) and finally a look full of meaning and lust and voila!!!! Maxim finally seems to take notice of Kendra. yeah right, sudden my arse!!!she waited for him for 100 years and he didn't even notice her as his mate!!!! and misunderstanding after misunderstanding after misunderstanding and after a huge emotional explosion, those two finally get together.frankly speaking, though, Kendra's explosion was needed for their relationship to start because it is apparent that Max is a little thick as far as feelings go!100 years people!!! don't worry though,he made up to it after a while.
“She’s the one purity in my life—the one gift above all the hell I’ve ever endured."
i have to point out that i loved the chemistry of these two.they were so sweet and adorable together.i enjoyed much more than the first book and i don't mind its short span due to the Kendra's unresponded and deep feelings she harvested those long years she waited to be noticed by Maxim.they fought a lot and with each fight, they grew closer.i believe there will be many tantrums and fights in the married life.hihihi~
i have to say though, that in the beginning, Kendra seemed a tad bit crazy.like stalker crazy.thank god that she is Max's mate, otherwise there would be a problem.despite their original differences and misunderstandings, Kendra and Max's adventure and love are really enjoyable to follow.i especially liked the peek into the underwater world and the new aspects of the Nysein world.and the various couples that are being created.Poseidon X Amphitrite was one of my favourite<3 and as for my favourite scene is the one with the tickling after the incident with Poseidon.
in the end of the day i suggest the fellow readers to continue the series, which is getting more and more interesting as the books continue.^^ i believe Rana X Cyril and Ahmyah X Nikolai are in order.
The Nysein: Release is an awesome addition to the Immortal Stain Series! I won't give away any plot points because I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say, Maxim and Kendra make a HOT couple of lead characters! Though this story focuses on them, it was nice to have Darien and Jenera make their appearances as well. Beth has created a fascinating take on vampires, and I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys steamy, vampire romances with plenty of action. I can't wait to read more from the Isle of Serey!

Book 2 of the Immortal Stain series is Maxim's turn at love. Who could have thought the playboy would meet his match? Or had such a secret?
Likes:
Feisty Kendra: She seemed to be the meekest of her 4 Elemental sisters, but that didn't mean she didn't have spunk! Especially once she set her mind to tear Maxim a new one. But little did she know that he was more than ready for her.
The Action: Like the first book, the action was a bit short, but it still held me captive. Especially Poseidon.
The Romance (more like sexy-time!): TONS and TONS of it!! Not that I'm complaining ;) Maxim and Kendra lit up the sheets!
Dislikes: Just one... Kendra's temper. I understand she had been waiting FOREVER for Maxim to notice her, but her anger and doubt were really starting to get to me. Especially after Maxim told her about his secret and how he felt about her.
Overall... This story was still a good read, although I liked the first book more. I do wonder about what's going on between Rana and Cyril though... Book 3 anyone?? OH!! And does Teion get his own story? Does he find a mermaid to make him change his ways? What about Kane now that he's overheard how Rana feels about Cyril? What about Amayah and Nicolai? And the two remaining sisters? Aleta?? Maxim's mom??? This inquiring mind wants to know!!
For one hundred years, Kendra, the Nysein of Water has been in love with Maxim. Being shy she has never voiced her feelings. Now she thinks he is having an affair with her sister Ahmyah. Maxim has always enjoyed women. For some reason now if he gets close to one he gets violently ill. He needs to find a cure. Now he has a second problem, he feels a strong attraction to Kendra, but will he be able to touch her without being sick. For now he only has he fantasies of her. When Kendra finally gets the nerve up to invite Maxim back to her room, it doesn't go as planned. He doesn't show up. He is afraid of what might happen.
This is the second book in the Nysein series. You still get some King Darien and Jenera. But this story is about the relationship between Maxim and Kendra. I loved Kendra, she might be shy but she has a way about her that gets her point across. Mostly its just a lack of communication between the two. She is afraid to say anything and Maxim is afraid if he touches her despite the powerful attraction he feels that he will be sick. I have enjoyed this series of books. they aren't long stories but a lot of action is packed in them with wonderful character development.

I really enjoyed reading the last book in this series, and I loved reading this installment. In this read we get to see a whole new side of Maxim, the Isle of Serey's local playboy. But assumptions are not always true, and that is especially the case when it comes to Maxim. He is not what I expected. I really liked him in the first book, and I liked getting to know him better under the surface. In the last book, the Elemental vamps come onto the island for an extended stay. The Elemental of Water, Kendra, has been in love with Maxim since her first meeting with him. Maxim is beyond miffed as to why she has such a profound effect upon him, but a person's past will always come back to bite them in the butt. As hearts break Destiny makes a round and mends those hearts. As the story progresses I am brought to near tears when Rumlar makes another interference. Can the man just die already?????? After reading this novella, I am looking forward to hopefully a book that delves into Rana and Cyril. Destiny cannot be done with the Isle of Serey.
He broke her heart 100 years ago without even realizing it, but now that she's back on the island Kendra is determined to see if there could ever be anything between her and Maxium.
He's always enjoyed women, although for the back 100 years everytime he has even tried to touch a woman he has gotten violently sick. He doesn't think he'll ever be able to commit to one woman, but when he sees Kendra everything he thought he knew will change.
Max is a smarmy ass at first glance, he's a flirt to every woman he passes, with a reputation to match. He'll have to learn what it is he really wants before he finds his happiness and he'll have to do it before he loses his chance for good.
Kendra is the quite type, but when it comes to Max she's more bold than she has ever been.
They have their share of problems at the begining but getting the happy ending is only half the fun. When you have powers you can use to have fun, and sibling rivalry gets the best of you, you never know what will happen!
Loved it as much as the first book of this series. I never had an inkling about Max and his would be mate but things turned into interesting events. I never realized the reason behind his affliction and it made sense.
They are perfect for each other and like Jenera and Darien, opposite attracts. The only thing is that they wasted years but it's mostl Max's fault.
I liked how the other characters made an appearance plus Kendra's family. They're an interesting bunch. While these books are a standalone the plot of their world isn't over yet. The bad guys, well, let's just it isn't over yet.
Please let the next book be be Rana and Cyril. I never saw that part coming as well. There's also Nicolai and Ahmyah. I still don't understand the dynamics of their relationships because there's not that much info.
Another plus, is how Greek Mythology is involved.
A standalone with an HEA but there's that cliffhanger for the plot of the next book.
Can't wait for the next one.

I really enjoyed book 1 Nysein Salvation, so as I'm away on my hols I had an itch to read book 2 which I one clicked after finishing book 1, trouble was I remembered the story but couldn't think of title or author! I have lots of books on my kindle! I did eventually find it and I finished it in one day.
So from blurb you know this is about Maxim and Kendra, two strong and possibly stubborn people who are fated to be together, they both have interesting personalities and good relationships with others. I found Maxim and King Darien's relationship very sweet and funny as they're quite candid with each other.
You can't have a romance without some angst and danger mixed in, there is an ongoing storyline from book 1 and new storylines introduced to make you yearn for next book.
I have to mention Darien and Jenera, I adored their relationship in this book, obviously it wasn't their book but the cameo appearances were just so sweet.
A great read, I really enjoyed this book, the story, characthers and the authors writing.
I very much enjoyed Maxim and Kendra’s story but, it was way too short. Maxim is not what Kendra thinks he is and in his last hundred years he’s suffered. I feel this story could have gone on longer, finished and started a few side storylines. The Nysein are a very interesting species and the author can go a lot of places with these characters. Billie is an interesting creature. I can’t wait to hear more about her. I would love to see a full story (at least 300 pages) that involves the Fae King Nicolai and Ahmyah. What a tale could be told there! I enjoyed this book very much. I recommend it.

3.5 stars. This second book is about Kendra and Max. Both introduced in the first book, but the spotlight is on them in this one. Another fast paced story in which we're not only watching this couple come together but serring the stage for what's to come. This series is getting more intriguing.
