I thought Micah was just helping me practice dating.
It was supposed to be simple—two best friends, a few fake dates, and some harmless flirting so I could finally stop screwing up with women.
But somewhere between the takeout, the candlelight, and the way Micah looked at me like I mattered... things changed.
Micah isn’t just my best friend anymore. He’s confident, gentle, and knows how to make me feel seen in ways I never expected. With him, I don’t feel broken. I just feel... right.
Now I can’t stop thinking about his hands, his mouth, the way he made everything feel easy.
This story was an unexpectedly soft and heartfelt read. What starts as a quiet friendship between two men slowly unfolds into a gentle, believable awakening—one rooted in trust, curiosity, and emotional safety rather than shock or drama.
The best part is how natural their exploration feels. There’s no rush, no pressure—just two best friends navigating new feelings together with warmth, nervous excitement, and genuine care for one another. The romance builds in small moments: lingering looks, honest conversations, and the comfort of being truly seen by someone who already knows you so well.
It’s tender without being saccharine, romantic without being over-the-top, and deeply affirming in how it portrays self-discovery later in life. If you enjoy sweet male/male romance, friends-to-lovers stories, or gentle awakening narratives that focus on emotional connection as much as physical closeness, this is a lovely read.
Highly recommended for readers who want romance that feels sincere, cozy, and quietly meaningful. 💛
I love to read hot, short, quick books especially when there's sweet, sexy men like Micah and Kevin in it. They're best friends and have been for a while. Kevin keeps bombing out when he dates a woman. After complaining to Micah about it, Micah says that Kevin needs to learn to lighten up and learn how to date. So he takes Kevin out on a date, treating him like he's special.
This might be favorite so far by Adrian Jules. In addition to heat and spice, the connection and chemistry between Micah and Kevin was amazing. The way Micah was so patient and romantic with Kevin really took the story beyond a sexy novella. I really felt the passion between the characters. Adrian Jules really did her big one with this one.
This book is erotica at it's best. Best friends doing "practice dates" so that one can learn to flirt and be romantic. But it turns into much much more.
Practice Date was just so tender and lovely—I honestly couldn’t stop smiling. Watching two best friends go from harmless flirting to something real and intense? Total catnip for me. The author absolutely nails that feeling of slowly realizing your crush is actually… so much more.
Micah and Kevin’s connection felt so genuine. All those little gestures and moments of care? Ugh, my heart. I especially loved how the story dives into trust and comfort—it made their romance feel extra safe and sweet.
I’m giving it four stars instead of five just because I wanted a little more from the later stages of their relationship (greedy, I know). But honestly? It’s a swoony, feel-good read that made me root for them big time. 💕
The cover, to me, hints at slutty, but it's not, it's very sweet in a way and at times amusing as one friend, gay, tries to teach his bumbling friend, straight, the art of romance. It's short, it's fun, and a little bit hot.
