Review by Trinette Dungee

Daisy Summers and Chase Jackson have sexual chemistry for days but for Daisy, it just isn’t enough, she need consistency and financial security. She leaves Chase for Reuben who happens to be just that, he’s everything she ever wanted or so she thought because unfortunately for Daisy, Rueben also comes with a few other things she didn’t want like an impotence problem and a little gambling addition, things that send her right back to Chase.

Chase Jackson is still coming to terms that he wasn’t enough for Daisy, so when she turns to him for comfort he is determine to show her that he’s grown up, changed his ways and is the perfect man for her.

Daisy Chains is the second book in Serenity Woods’ Seven Sister series which focuses on the love triangle between Daisy, Chase and Rueben. Who doesn’t love a good love triangle right? The only time a love triangle doesn’t work for me is when I can’t figure out what the hell the two men in the triangle see in the woman they are fighting over. That’s pretty much how this story went for me. In most triangles there is one guy that’s not really “good” for the woman right? In this case, that guy is “supposed” to be Rueben, but I have to say I felt a little bad for Rueben and I actually liked him more than I liked Daisy..

There were so many times when I would find myself hoping that both Chase and Rueben would leave her find someone new…hell, they could have ended up with each other and I would have been okay with that too.

Self-centered pretty much sums up Daisy Summers for me, this is Daisy’s World; everything revolves around her. Her wants, her needs….just her, UGH! Her quest for the perfect man sends both men in different directions. For Chase it does make him grow up and become more serious about life. In his heart Chase is writer, but he doesn’t have the support from his family he’d liked and lacks the confidence to follow his dream to become a writer which infuriates Daisy leaving her feeling like he’s not focused enough.

For Rueben who is everything Daisy seems to want, she almost destroys him because he’s afraid if he doesn’t continue to be successful Daisy will leave him for the very reasons she left Chase. And during an argument Rueben tells her just that…."That poor f$*ker Chase—you left him because he didn’t have any money. Why would I think you’d be different with me?” And you kind of can’t argue with Rueben, at least I can’t, because I think he was right.

As well as they seem to work on paper Daisy and Rueben are two people who really should not be together. Their relationship is strained and torturous. Even their conversations don’t come across as warm and fuzzy, they’re very formal. This is their conversation while preparing dinner with friends:

“Hey, you.” He turned and put his arms around her too.
“You look good.”
“Thank you. You, too.” He bent his head and kissed her on the cheek, just an inch from her mouth. “Don’t want to smudge your lipstick.”
“You’ve missed a button.” She lowered her gaze and fastened it.
“Thanks.” He cupped her face. “You look all glowy tonight. Happy.” He stroked her cheek. “It’s nice.” Oh jeez. “It’s good to be with you.” The words were like pebbles she’d spat out after rolling them around in her mouth. He nodded and smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. For a brief moment they stood there, as if they were adrift on a turbulent ocean, floating on separate pieces of driftwood, clinging to each other but aware at any moment a wave could tear them apart.

This is not the type of conversation two people completely in love with each should have (dinner by the way turns out to be a total disaster…epic fail). This is pretty much how things are with them. They are actually very toxic for each other. Daisy realizes almost immediately how incompatible they are but rather than have another unsuccessful relationship under her belt she stays and tries to “make it work”. In a nutshell their relationship is the proverbial “trying to fit a square peg in a round hole”; it just doesn’t work.

As much as Daisy and Chase don’t work on paper, they work for each other. They get each other and as much as I hate to say it, they are just right for each other and I think that’s because the basis of them is friendship. It also doesn’t hurt that Chase doesn’t really hold back when it comes to calling Daisy on her nonsense. Needless to say Daisy and Rueben end up being unfaithful to each other. Daisy of course cheats with Chase. Basically she throws herself at him and he eventually gives in. Of course they don’t use a condom and her reaction to Chase when he brings it to her attention…A terrible thought crept into her mind and wouldn’t go away. She had to ask him. “Did you not use a condom on purpose?”

Um, WHAT?! Did Daisy forget she attacked him, she came on to him, she threw herself at him? See what I mean…all about Daisy. That right there is what made this such a difficult read for me. I HATED DAISY! I don’t know if it was Ms. Woods’ intention for there to be so much disdain for Daisy, but she was the worst. I very rarely stop reading one book and start another but there were several times I had to put this one down because I just couldn’t take Daisy anymore. And it’s not just Chase and Rueben that have issues with Daisy; it’s her family as well.

Don’t get me wrong Chase and Rueben have their fair share of contributions to this triangle of hell. While Chase initially tries his best to get over Daisy he seems to put himself into these weird situations that cause tension like just showing up at Daisy and Rueben’s apartment unannounced to visit Daisy; and he does this knowing there’s tension between he and Rueben. In the beginning he claims that he’s going to do the whole friend thing but he knows it just won’t work because deep down he still loves and wants her (although I still don’t know why). Rueben’s impotence problem might have something to do with the stress from Daisy but his little gambling addiction really is all his to own (but I can see why his fear of Daisy leaving him could push him to keep gambling). Oddly enough Rueben, like Chase, really loves Daisy.

I’m positive sure my dislike for Daisy had me pretty much missing the real point of the story and at first I was pretty sure I didn’t care too much for this book; but then it hit me. I did actually like the storyline, I just didn’t like Daisy. So for that reason I’m going to say three stars.

This was a love story I felt was best resembling a game of hide and seek. Chase would always seek and Daisy would always hide. She hid from herself, her family and all the feels Chase brought out in her. She was a mess, in an abusive relationship with high expectations, avoiding her family and her heart at all costs. The only thing that kept me going throughout this book was Chase, My goodness he was so amazing and sexy but such a door mat. Daisy was ridiculous and even though I could half understand her thoughts and feelings her actions spoke volumes and they were not speaking well of her in this book. I hope to see other books in the future of the other sisters but hope the men grow backbones to go with their love and looks!

This is book 2 in Serenity Woods series, The Seven Sisters. As with Sweet As Honey, I am still struggling with the WOW factor. The writing itself is done properly and the plot isn't lacking, but I find myself with nothing really to say about the book. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't good. But it has potential. Serenity Woods has potential. Why it hasn't happened yet with this series I have no clue.
The love triangle .... I wasn't feeling it. The triangle part, obviously LOL, but the love part. Yeah, no. It was a hot mess . The only team this reader found herself on was Team Chase (yeah, that's just Chase, alone)! The picture that was painted for me gave me no real enthusiasms to root for any given couple. And I think that's a problem if you're trying to write a love triangle story. There has to be a set of people to root for but I just couldn't do it. And mainly, it's because Daisy really didn't deserve either guy. She was painted as undeserving to me so I had a HUGE problem with this story because I never could quite get to what the end game was.
The reason the book gets a middle of the road rating and not a below rating is because the story itself (plot/storyline) had potential but the people painted to drive the story dragged it down.
Maybe the third sister will be the charm LOL

Another wonderful story from Serenity Woods!

I’ve looked at the other 7 reviews and feel they are a little harsh. Serenity Woods writes wonder stories about people around the Bay of Islands, NZ. It’s a kind of paradise filled with the nicest of Kiwis.

Her stories are principally of younger people finding their way through the dating, love, marriage game. The lead character Daisy wants something more; more security (including financial security), a more exciting urban life (she’s from England), a solid runway to the future. Daisy is hardly unique. Chase likes to write, but doesn’t have a vision for the future and seems to float along working part time for his Dad. Ruben’s a jerk, but is more financially oriented.

This is a story of tough choices. At one point, Daisy’s father Cam says:

“relationships are about compromise. It’s not a dirty word. It doesn’t mean changing yourself to fit your partner. It means if you love someone, you listen to what they need, and you adjust yourself best as you can.”

That’s a hard lesson for someone who enjoys the good life, and for those that want to improve theirs. And it takes time for one to really know what they value most; when your thinking of the long term, choices and lessons are tough.

I think Serenity Woods explores these issues as well as anyone and includes a reasonable dollop of realistic sex. For many people, good sex is an important part of making a lifelong commitment. I’m pleased to see Serenity Woods tackle this issue realistically. Relationships are not always easy, and lots of people need time to grow up to determine what they really value.

I says Bravo Serenity. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

I loved it ! But, I love everything Serenity writes! Daisy was a very good character which, had trouble picking “the one”! This book is set up in the far north of New Zealand. You’ll love her brothers, sisters, friends & her Dad as well as her! You’ll catch yourself crying, or giggling or laughing out loud
& you’ll fine that the characters are nice! I always enjoy reading her books as the men are always thoughtful & caring! I asked Serenity about that & she told me that’s what Kiwi men are like! I’m not going to give away the story but, I definitely would recommend this book!

Every title I’ve read from Serenity Woods has kept me engaged, and the characters are solid and engaging. The second book in her Seven Sisters series, although the first I have read, starts out with similar promise

Daisy has crushed on Chase for years, but despite their amazing chemistry, she wants and needs more: security, stability, you name it. She’s found what she thinks is the perfect man: wealthy, successful and stable, but there’s one issue. He’s not honest. Reeling from the betrayals she dashes back to the familiar and comfortable: Chase.

Chase is waiting with open arms, and the backbone of a gummi worm. Daisy sets him a merry chase as she debates and vascillates between two men. While the connection with Chase is electric and palpable, she still doesn’t trust him- and the other one betrayed her.

Oh the back and forth is strong in this one – and neither character actually grabbed my attention in a positive way. Oh, the concept is great, and Woods did not falter in the plotting, but there was a spark missing that could otherwise have brought life and interest to these characters and left me wanting the next story in the series. Instead, I’m rather ‘meh’ about the title, and by extension the series, and that makes me sad. I like other works by this author, and know she has more in the tank, it just didn’t appear here for me.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

In all honesty, I struggled with this book. I found it difficult to sink my teeth into. I do not feel the book was in any way poorly written, in fact I think the author did a good job with it, i just could not connect with the writing style and the characters.
The characters are a little dry for my tastes personality wise. Chase was a bit of a pushover when it came to Daisy and Daisy just really took advantage of him to a point where i wanted to shake him and say hey dude move the heck on ...forget her a** ... but they are written and described well.
The supporting characters are not too bad. Daisy's brother has attitude and I kinda liked that.
I did like how it ended with Daisy's brother Kuro and the thought to something more coming from him. He's a good character and I think I might enjoy him in his own book.
There were no typos that i could see and the grammar was good.
I do not feel the book was bad, but it also didnt give me the warm and fuzzies either. The baseline of the story has potential. It is something that could intrigue me. I think if the author gave Chase a bit more backbone, made him a bit more alpha, and Daisy was less flighty, it probably would have taken it in a different direction for me.
I wish the author well.

Daisey he's been in love with chase and has shared some amazing sexual experiences with him, but he never seemed to be able to give her his heart all the way and after being hurt by him made her see things in a diffrent light but the feelings. Don't seem to ever go away. Chase he's been in love with Dailey for ever and know that he has her back in his arms he's not willing to let her go.

Can they over come all the hurt and open their hearts to one and other. .
