About the author

J.L Beers is a US Army Veteran, mother of two and married to her supportive husband Matt. When she isn’t writing you can find her playing with her kids, rushing them around to extra-curricular activities and working her fulltime job. Her debut book was The Truth Behind the Moon which was published in 2023. In her first book there were some mistakes which people picked out, leaving horrible reviews and it made her lose hope. After meeting JR Ward at Apollycon ‘25, her inspiring speech during a panel pushed J.L Beers to continue writing and with the help of Angelee, her editor, she now has a completed duet, omnibus and Watching O. She will continue her indie author journey until she runs out of words.

Incredibly written and a fantastic second book. The characters are so well developed and the story just continues to suck you in. An amazing duology and one that you absolutely have to read. I mean you can’t go wrong with a strong and fierce FMC, magic, shifters and so much more!

I had the opportunity to Beta read for J.L. Beers, The Legacy Behind the Moon - here is my review:

Wow, JL Beers has elevated her writing so much and I am so impressed!

I was literally hooked from the first paragraph alone. I absolutely HATE Dorrian, I could feel how angry and desperate he was and it was all just for power.

I just knew Serafin and Grayson were going to be so badass to combat Dorian and his anger.

I love how broody but respectful Greyson is.

"Seraphin, my heart beats only for you. My soul, my very essence, is held captive by your love. My flesh yearns for your touch, a captive willingly bound. No earthly creature, not even the wildest wolf, could ever inspire such devotion, such complete surrender."

My only complaint is that I just want more. This was a quick read but I’d have gladly spent hours and hours reading a book written by JL Beers.

The Truth Behind the Moon and Legacy Behind the Moon follow Seraphin as she goes from a small town tattoo artist to a leader of a whole new world. With a love story that twists and turns throughout BOTH books, we watch as Sera transforms into her true self, while learning about her new home along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed this duology, and loved that it was a faster read!
