With contributions from some of the erotica’s best-loved authors, this nine-story collection is a great introduction to our catalogue which covers every fantasy imaginable. So whether you want to read about friends with benefits, one-night stands, hot southern summers or prudish young women, this tantalising taster of short stories is sure to have something for everyone.
A tale of a young woman who has fallen in with the wrong crowd; an insight into the lives of a travelling burlesque group; an engaging account of an evening of bondage and a story about a voluptuous socialite - just a few of the scenarios you will encounter in this fantastic assortment of brand new stories from House of Erotica.
The House of Erotica is a short story sampler from writers associated with the British publisher of the same name. The collection features miscellaneous kink. The stories avoid standard tropes. Each have been written with a primary female point of view character.
The quality of writing varies. One selection desperately needs a comma magnet. The beginning of another is so stilted it feels like a lawyer wrote it. One writer uses punctuation like a random walk through the universe.
Two things make this book worth looking at. First, the stories all feature creative kink. Second, Vanessa de Sade’s prose in “That Wild, Wild, Impetuous Summer” is truly fine. For my money, she’s one of the best erotica writers being actively published. (Well, for my money, this book can be downloaded for free, too.)
This book gets a convoluted 4 star rating. Here’s the explanation. The positives of this sampler outweigh its negatives, so that merits three stars. Vanessa de Sade’s short story bumps the rating to 3.5 stars. A 3.5 star rating isn’t an option here so because .5's and above are rounded up to the next full digit, this book gets a 4 star rating.
"The House of Erotica" (2014) by various authors is an anthology featuring nine erotic stories, each by a different female author. I found the stories reasonably interesting, with the exception of an extremely distasteful one about a woman with a humiliation fetish involving the old Punch and Judy puppet show. The book needs a good editor; too many typos for me to recommend it.
