The Story of Cellular Jail by Dr. Rashida Iqbal is a thought provoking book taking readers on a journey of Experiencing the Harsh Times of Pre-Independence. Revolving around the Backdrop of Andaman And Nicobar Islands, This book Narrates us the story of Cellular Jail, Where Many of our Freedom Fighters were kept during British rule and they fought Against their cruelty. Inspired by the Author's Personal experiences of Serving in the Cellular Jail for over two decades, This book pays a heartfelt tribute to all our freedom fighters who not only Struggled throughout their lives but also gave us a secured future which came at the cost of their blood and Sacrifices.

The book begins with an overview on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and its penal settlement, Later taking us through the journey of patriots who fought for freedom into those dire conditions of Kaala Paani Punishment. The Brave Prisoners of 1857 were the initial batch of Freedom Fighters who fought for independence in the most difficult conditions and were sentenced the most cruel of punishments like Cleaning the forests with Fetters on their feets. This miserable condition led to the spread of Several diseases like Malaria which made their survival even more painful. Some of Rebellion Freedom Fighters in that Batch includes Musai Singh (Longest Held Prisoner for About 47 years). Prominent Revolutionary like Veer Savarkar and others ignited the spirit of Hope and Strength throughout his Punishment Period, Inspiring all the other Prisnors too for keep fighting against the Cruel Britishers in any given condition.

Overall, The Story of Cellular Jail is an Inspiring book presenting readers with the themes of Knowledge, Courage, Strength and Hope. Even in the most miserable conditions of the prisoners of Kaala Paani, They kept their positive thoughts alive and fought till thier last breath, Finally resulting in the Closure of Kaala Paani Punishment. Today, Cellular Jail stands as the Monument dedicated to all those brave freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India's Freedom from The British Rule. The book sheds lights on the inhuman treatment meted out by the colonial powers , the British and the Japanese Imperial Force to our freedom fighters and islanders. They were Made to survive on just a bit of Food with Tremendous Work load which was impossible to finish in a day. In conclusion, I will Highly recommend this Insightful and Motivational read to all those individuals who want to understand the whole story of Cellular Jail and The Sacrifices made by our Brave Freedome Fighters. An Eye Opening Read about India's Freedom Struggle and its History!
