The game is afoot. The game of life and death. The game of druids, gods and destiny…
My companions and I are set a quest. We must seek the Great Druid in the forest sanctuary of his kind, and win knowledge from him. Yet there is a problem.
He is dead.
Even so, my companions have the power to raise a shade. The walls of Death can be breached, for those who have the gift. Or curse.
Yet what then? The Dark creeps malevolently, inexorably, over my land. It will snuff us all out. The Great Druid knows lore that will help us fight. That will defend us against evil.
I am a man born in the wrong era. My heart yearns for faraway places and even further afield times. Tolkien had me at the beginning of The Hobbit when he said, ". . . one morning long ago in the quiet of the world . . ."
I love to read high fantasy and epic fantasy novels, and I have a passion to write, to weave a story with words that draws the reader into another world.
Good book - more like 3 1/2 stars. While we learn more about our group, the author has done nothing to advance the question of Ariane and Drom. There is not even a discussion about it. I like that the king is playing dumb and has it out for the vizier. The faestone was a bit predictable. The one thing I did not understand is how the druid reached the Grove before our group. They were on horseback and he was leading a group of goblins. The timing felt off - or we just do not understand the geography.
Fate Forged, book three of the Dream of the Druid series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). There was still a lot of wandering, but I found this story as good as the first book. I'm still engaged with the characters and the storyline.
