Run for us: Masked men Novella

Sometimes life hands you a fork in the road. Mine feels more like a tidal wave crashing down on me, just as I’m about to turn thirty. Until now, I’ve been trying to live up to my mother’s impossible standards while drowning in deadlines, but I’ve finally had enough.

Bluebell Bay is my escape plan. It’s a chance to figure out what I want from life, a place I don’t have to pretend. Two weeks to relax and decide on my next steps.

Three masked men, one game of chase, and a night that awakens some things inside me I didn’t know I’d buried—desire, freedom, and the need for something real. These strangers make me feel powerful, worshipped, and sexy.

But when the masks come off, so does the illusion that this was just for fun. These men see me, flaws and all. They’re not just offering me pleasure; they’re offering something real.

I know I can’t have them—that life is only a fantasy. They’re too young and don’t need my drama added to their lives. But then they make an offer too good to refuse… Can I have everything I’ve ever wanted?

ARC Review: Run for Us - Jaye Pratt

BAAAAABES. Gather around because has ended the Mask Men series with a f**king BANG and I am feral about it.

Run for Us is the sweetest, steamiest, small-towniest self-love adventure you didn’t know you needed but TRUST ME you do.

We have our girl Kinsley, who honestly deserves a goddamn trophy for surviving the corporate hellscape because she hates her job, hates her life, and basically needs to scream into the void. So what does she do? Icon behaviour only: she packs her bags and runs away to a small town for her birthday. Honestly, big mood.
And then. THEN. Her cousin says, “Let’s hook you up with three masked men I’m buying.” And she’s like, “Yes, fine, let’s.” BECAUSE WHY NOT? WE LOVE THAT FOR HER! Self discovery! Clear out the cob webs!

Enter the boys:
Shore – Listen. I KNOW this man. He’s the mate who’s always naked at parties. You’re like, “Bro, it’s 2pm at a barbecue” and he’s just stripped off and doing laps. That’s Shore. Zero shame. Maximum thirst trap. Absolute chaos energy.

Kasen – Okay but kasen is just the chill, funny, big heart energy we need. He’s Bodyguard vibe gives her space, but is so there for her. If he were a drink he’d be an iced coffee with extra vanilla—refreshing and comforting AF.

Rip – RIP HAS MY HEART. Vulnerable, anxious, needs reassurance but also gives it back tenfold. I want to wrap him in a weighted blanket and tell him he’s perfect. His anxiety? Chef’s kiss relatable. He’s my emotional support himbo.

And for the first time ever in the series—they’re all younger than her. WHICH. WE. LOVE. A queen deserves her pretty younger men who worship her and these three DELIVER.

This isn’t just filth (though don’t worry, there’s enough steam to fog up your Kindle). It’s about Kinsley learning to love herself, choosing herself, finding a found family in this chaotic town, and realising she’s allowed to do whatever the hell makes her happy.

Honestly it’s a feel-good, slightly unhinged, gorgeously messy book that is the perfect finale to the Mask Men world.

I had the absolute pleasure of devouring this as an ARC and let me tell you—solid. f**king. banger. Jaye Pratt has nailed it.
10/10 would run away to small town for birthday sex with three masked men!

Sign me up for Bluebell Bay 🥰
Whirlwind of a story drive by spice with engaging characters and an easy plot 😃 our FMC is Kinsley who is sick of her mother and elite societies pressures, she wants a quieter life and as she’s about to turn 30 feels like now is her chance! She turns up in Bluebell Bay lost and searching for something….which mayyy just happen to be the three men she bumps into 🥰 Kasen is the one in control and has that alpha male energy and will do what it takes to look after our girl, Ripley has his own trauma to deal with yet it allows him to see all of Kinsleys layers and what she needs; then there is Shore the eternally happy golden retriever boosting her confidence and who knows that this girl is everything they need 💙 I just found that we got a lot more back story and depth to Shore and Rip than we did for Kasen. As with the rest of this series there is the good old masked men/stalker/primal kink with strong group and MM scenes 🔥 there are some emotional moments and self-discovery 😁 a quick saucy easy read!

"I stand by the fact that dicks make everything better" That's a Shore thing.

This was a fun, beachy quickie of a read which had me longing for summer.
Three Men vs One Woman ... she's got no chance of escaping and that's exactly what she wants. Don't worry, everyone gets a ride on the Kinsley sled with bodily fluids for extra slip (without the golden shower cause that's a step too far).

The crab reference will have you laughing, and it's not the STD kind 🦀

I loved the hidden message of female empowerment. Stick it to the man (and snooty mother) Go love yourself and run off into the sunset with your three hunky masked men

THE BANTER AND COMDEY GOT ME THIS BOOK! There were so many funny one-liner comments and great banter.
The wholesome vibes of the characters were captivating. The showcase of learning to love yourself before getting into things you may not be ready for yet was refreshing.

While I am devastated that this series of novellas is over I THROUGHLY enjoyed them. I cannot wait to see anymore come.

Plot: 3.5/5 • Smut: 4/5 ————— > The FMC, Kinsley, is a little dramatic about turning 30. She takes two weeks away and goes to a small town where her cousin signs up her to fulfill some fantasies and let loose. The three masked man fulfill all her desires and then some. Turns out the three masked men are the three men asking her out while she’s staying in town.

This was a fun little novel. Good plot to smut ratio. Some MM content, which everything a little better; if you ask me.

Run For Us felt like getting dropped into the middle of a neon-lit nightmare and being told to run. The pacing is relentless, the masked-stalker atmosphere is genuinely creepy, and the tension never lets up. I loved how cinematic everything felt — like watching a horror movie with the volume turned all the way up. The only thing I wanted more of was emotional depth from the characters, but the pure adrenaline absolutely made up for it.
If you love chase horror and survive-the-night chaos, this one hits.

I really liked the book, but the only part that threw me off was some of the names. There was a whole family in the book with ocean-themed names (one of the names, quite literally, being Ocean), and then there were perfectly normal names. It didn't match, but otherwise, the book was interesting, although it did follow the same plot as the other books in the series. The characters were different and just as interesting as the other characters in the other books.

Thank you to the author for the ARC!

I eat these fun novellas up like candy! I LOOOVE that the FMC is a slightly older than what you normally see. The instant connection she has with the guys is adorable. It's great to have leading men who care about their woman's mental health and self worth.

Don't sleep on these interconnected standalones, they are quick, enjoyable reads!

Run for Us by Jaye Pratt is the unapologetically chaotic, heartwarmingly filthy small-town escape fantasy I didn’t know I needed—but oh wow, I did. It’s not just a spicy poly romance (though, fair warning: your Kindle will fog up); it’s a messy, hilarious, and deeply empowering journey of self-worth, found family, and choosing joy.

Kinsley is that girl. Burnt out, overworked, stuck in a life she didn’t sign up for. “I hate my job. I hate my apartment. I hate my life,” she says—and you feel every word. So when she runs away to a small town for her birthday, you’re cheering her on like a proud best friend. She’s done with being miserable. “I just want to feel something again,” she admits. And baby, she does. In triplicate.

Enter the masked men her cousin Jace literally buys for her (this town is unhinged and I love it):

✨ Shore – the feral golden retriever of the group. “He’s butt-naked, holding a corn dog, and I don’t even flinch.” Zero shame. All vibes. Chaos personified.
✨ Kasen – the protector with bodyguard energy. Calm, steady, sweet. “You don’t have to do anything you don’t want. Just breathe with me, okay?” Sir??? We’re all breathing.
✨ Rip – my precious emotional support himbo. “Do you still want me if I’m a mess?” Rip, sweetie, we are messes. We want you more. His anxiety and softness were achingly real and beautifully portrayed.

And for once? They’re all younger than her. The way these men worship Kinsley? “You don’t need to shrink to fit anyone else’s life. We want all of you.” Say it louder for the people in the back! 👑

But what makes Run for Us stand out isn’t just the heat (though, yes, it is gloriously spicy). It’s that Kinsley’s journey is about reclaiming her happiness. About choosing herself. It’s about making bold, weird, joyful decisions simply because they feel right.

“Maybe I’m not broken. Maybe I was just trying to bloom in the wrong season.”

Jaye Pratt stuck the landing hard with this final book in the Mask Men series. It’s messy, emotional, steamy, empowering—and above all, it’s fun as hell. A must-read if you love your romance with heart, heat, and a healthy dose of emotional growth (and chaos).

🔥 Steam: 5/5
😂 Laughs: 5/5
❤️ Feels: 5/5
👑 Main character energy: Off the charts

Run for Us is a full-body yes. Just run, don’t walk.

This was my favourite of the masked men series I loved the small town romance that was interwoven in the story and that Kinsley needed to love herself first

Shore is someone everyone needs in their life he’s funny caring and so unapologetically himself that it’s endearing but I feel sorry for his mother raising all those unruly boys she really is a saint

I really liked this one. It took a while to get to the masks part, but I liked the characters so much I didn't mind. Shore definitely had me laughing the most. Although, I was not expecting Kinsley to up and leave. Im glad the guys went to go get her, though, and they gave her all the time she needed to find herself again. It was a sweet ending.

“You won’t hide yourself from us. Your past is your own, but for the time being, your body is ours.”

The healing woven throughout this novella was incredibly wholesome, and I was honestly so pleasantly surprised by how much Jaye managed to accomplish within such a short page count. Despite being a quick read, the emotional core never felt rushed or underdeveloped, which made the story feel far more impactful than I initially expected.

“Of course, when we meet someone so perfect, the universe says f*ck no - you can have her, but only at arm’s length.”

Kinsley carries a lot of trauma with her, and I really loved how the men, especially Rip, supported her as she worked through it. Their care for her went beyond surface-level comfort and felt genuinely intentional, allowing her the space to process, break down, and rebuild in ways that felt authentic. I also couldn’t help but laugh at how Kinsley embodied the stereotypical fear of turning thirty. It struck me as both funny and relatable, especially since it reminded me of my husband having a similar meltdown when he hit that milestone…though Kinsley definitely found a much more entertaining way to handle hers. Shore was also an absolute standout for me. He had me laughing constantly with his golden-retriever energy and cocky younger-man charm, which balanced the heavier emotional moments beautifully. His fear of crabs (actual, literal crabs) had me cackling more than once and added such a lighthearted, memorable layer to his character.

“She loves the chase, but I know she wants to get caught. It’s what makes this fun and not illegal.”

What really stood out most, though, were the positive messages threaded throughout the novella. They never felt preachy or forced, just naturally integrated into the story and character dynamics. In that sense, this felt like the most emotionally powerful entry of the bunch: short, sincere, and surprisingly moving in all the right ways.

Run for Us is the sweetest, steamiest, small-town self-love story. This book brings a fresh twist to the harem fantasy with a reverse age gap (we’re talking 30-year-old heroine and 20-something masked men).

Unlike the earlier books in the series, this one tugs closer to the heart. It’s got that feel-good, “put yourself first” energy wrapped in spice and steam, all set against the backdrop of a charming coastal town with all the right feels including a lighthouse. It’s the kind of story that makes you want to scream “choose YOU!” from a clifftop.
Kinsley, the leading lady, is burnt out, fed up, and over the corporate grind. For her 30th birthday, she does what every girl dreams of—ditches it all and runs off to a small town for a hard reset. And things take a very delicious turn when her cousin signs her up for a masked date with three younger men. Because why not? Self-discovery is best done with a bit of blindfolded chaos.

And the boys!!!!
Shore is pure chaotic thirst trap energy. That guy who’s inexplicably shirtless at every party? That’s him. Unapologetically wild and weird—and somehow incredibly hot for it.
Kasen is the soothing bodyguard type. He’s calm, comforting, totally respectful, but also right there when you need him. A true gentle giant with a sneaky little wink.
Rip is the anxious, emotionally intelligent sweetheart we all need. Tender, vulnerable, and full of love, he’s the human equivalent of a weighted blanket.

These three don’t just bring the heat—they bring the love, the softness, the “you’re a goddess and we worship you” energy. And yes, for the first time in the series, they’re younger than her. Which is a total win. Kinsley gets to be adored, and damn, she deserves it.
If you’re looking for something spicy but full of heart Run for Us is your next must-read.

This masked men book is short, funny, spicy, and has a great mix of characters. It's set around the 4th of July and takes place in a small beach town. It's honestly like the perfect summer beachy vibes and I loved it. The town is just so quaint and the people are all so kind.

Kinsley is a people-pleaser that does what she's told and now that she's about to turn thirty, she's realizing just how unhappy she is. Cue a birthday vacation to the cutest beach town and three hot guys enter. I think we can all find something in Kinsley that we all have felt or do feel, and so she was easy to relate to. I loved the guys' personalities in this one! Shore is the ultimate golden retriever with so much energy! His immense fear of crabs had me dying laughing. Kasen is the more mature of the group, but not in a strict, no fun type of way. He is just a steady hand to hold when needed. Rip went through some trauma in his childhood that makes him quiet with strangers and he doesn't like to be touched. He has anxiety and panic attacks. He's also amazing at reading people and has an instant connection to Kinsley.

I'm not sure what it is about this one, but it feels different from the other books in this series, but in a good way. It's my favorite and I'm not even sure why. Something about it just gave me all the good feels. It's full of funny moments that will have you chuckling and smiling. The spicy scenes are great. We see some familiar faces too that you'll enjoy seeing again if you've read the other books. This is the perfect summer read for sitting on the beach with a book!

In a connection with Hold Your Breath, Kinsley is Jace's cousin and she's vaguely wistful about Jace's poly relationship with his partners. She doesn't think SHE could ever have anything like what he has, but she appreciates how much joy the group relationship brings to him.

To be clear, when I say Kinsley thinks she could never be in a poly relationship, it's more because she has some seriously unresolved trauma about reaching for the things she wants. The one time she did, it turned into something tragic and her family has been holding that over her to keep her in a box ever since. So while she might want the type of relationship Jace has, she doesn't think she deserves or could hold onto anything like that.

Fortunately for everyone, Kinsley stumbles into a group of men who are more than willing to push her boundaries and show her she's good enough as she is. Kazen, Shore, and Rip are three men who speak to the different parts of her. And while she's falling for them in the daylight hours, she's also being chased by three masked men during the night (thanks to Jace's birthday present to her!) and that's a thrill she didn't know she wanted.

Killer crabs (according to Shore), a group of men with their varied strengths and weaknesses, and a lady who has to learn to love herself and all her desires before she can be the partner they know she will be. *thumbs up* and a special *thumbs up* to getting some face time with Jace and his crew.

"Run for us baby. We're coming for you!"

Kinsley decides she needs a break, to get away, find herself and figure out what her next steps are. She visits the small town of Bluebell Bay around the July 4th holiday. Her cousin, Jace, tries to bring her out of her comfort zone and loosen her up by gifting her a unique birthday gift!

The Easton family is a house full of family including many foster kids that over the years that have become family. Kinsley feels instantly drawn to this family and can really feel the love surrounding her.

She slowly meets some of the towns folk, Rip who is the towns tattoo artist, is the strong, silent type, who she finds herself drawn to the way he reads people.

Shore owns the seafood food van who is scared of live crabs, and barely wears anything he is easily the funniest of the Easton boys.

Kasen comes across as the quiet reserved one, she meets him first when he shows her around the holiday rental she stays in.

Loved the banter, the one liners, the relationship between each character.

3 masked men... say no more...

I don’t know what Jaye does with her books, but they always keep me coming back for more. The only downside to this novella was that it was short! I can’t wait to see what Jaye does next.

I feel like I'm repeating myself at this point, but I also don't want to NOT leave a review, in case there are readers who don't start at the beginning of the series. I know they are virtually standalones, but there are *somewhat* interconnected so knowing that there's something to read about it can sometimes help.

I love the fact that I'm hearing more tidbits about the previous couples brought together (not sure if couples is the right term for four people, so if that needs correcting, sorry!). Seeing more of them means I get more closure than that of the slightly abrupt endings that usually come with the "The End" at the end of their books.

Hitting 30 has never looked so enticing. (Though I'm far older than this, ugh.) I will admit that I did not feel old at 30, so I keep looking at this girl who somehow thought it meant that her life was already over somehow and the outlying views that had to have pushed her into such thinking ticks me off. I'm glad there happened to be a group of guys, younger ones at that, who knew how to help open her up and change her point of view, even if it took being masked men chasing her around the water's edge to do so.

Another wonderful read in the series. This novella just adds to the Masked Men and the journey of characters finding themselves and their happy ending.

Kinsley finds herself in the quiet town of Bluebell Bay to find herself as her 30th birthday approaching she needs to decide what her future plans are. Her mother has kept her contained in the family business. Her cousin Jace gifts her a unusual adventure for her birthday.

The Easton family has a house full of family including many foster kids that over the years that have become family.

Kinsley slowly meets some of the towns characters, Rip the towns tattoos artist who is a strong silent type who she finds herself drawn to with his ability to read people.

Shore who owns a seafood food van who is scared of live crabs, and likes to wear minimal clothing is the funniest of the Easton boys.

Kasen the somewhat quiet reserved one, who happens to be the landlord of the cottage she is renting whilst visiting.

The banter is full of humour and the chemistry between them was well written.

You know that feeling when you’re this close to burning out, and all you want is to escape your life for a hot second? Yeah, that’s exactly where our FMC is at when she bolts to Bluebell Bay, a last-ditch effort to figure out her mess of a life before turning thirty. And let me tell you, her "relaxing" getaway takes a wild turn.

Enter: three masked men, a high-stakes game of chase, and a night( (Plus some extras) that unlocks a side of her she didn’t even know existed. The chemistry? Off-the-charts electric. The steam? Whew, grab a fan. But here’s the kicker……when the masks come off, things get real. These men don’t just want her body; they see her, flaws and all, and suddenly, her "no-strings fun" fantasy gets complicated.

I loved how this book balanced smut with substance. Yeah, the spicy scenes are amazing, but it’s the emotional depth that hooked me. Our girl’s wrestling with self-doubt, societal pressure, and the terrifying thought of actually going after what she wants, and these guys? They’re not just hot, they’re all in.

The tension had me flipping pages like, "Just let yourself be happy, woman!!" And that ending? Perfection. If you’re into reverse harems, age gaps, and heroines who find their power through pleasure, this one’s a must-read. Equal parts heart-pounding and heart-warming. Read it, then text your group chat screaming about it. 🔥

Short and Spicey Read

If you’ve read any of these books in this series, then you know what to expect - HOTNESS and MORE HOTNESS. You’ll find yourself reach for your bedside bestfriends and have a whirl of a time or you’ll be getting a very cold shower. I loved Kinsley and her familial relationship with Jace (loved the small moments with him and it has definitely made me want to reread his book). I loved the b@nter between them both but I loved that he encouraged her to live her best life. I loved that the guys came along and was everything she never knew she needed, that shore would encourage her himself to live her life to make her happy, that Kasen wants her to be comfortable in her own skin and that Rip sees beneath her surface and gets her on a deep level. Each of them brought something special to their group and I loved getting to know them. I just wish there was more. These books are definitely short and spicy, and read really fast. It’s a really enjoyable read.

5 ⭐ 4 🌶️

Kinsley is almost 30 and sick of the pressure of her day to day life, not to mention her mother who she just can't seem to be good enough for. To say goodbye to her 20s she heads off for a two week holiday. While she's away a friend convinces her to play and in come our three masked men. Ones a leader, ones been broken in ways that help her see the light and one is pure positive vibes and love.

As always these masked men books are predominantly spice, well written primal spice that'll have you blushing in the dark. The characters are easy to love and having an almost 30yr old FMC was super refreshing and relatable. Just enough plot to keep you interested in what's going to happen next outside of the spice too.

Read it. Read them all. As a bonus these books can all be read as standalone but most do contain little Easter eggs that slightly join the books without having spoilers.

🖤 Shore - the feral golden retriever
🖤 Kasen - the protector
🖤 RiP - My Precious emotional support himbo.

Finally, the men are all younger than her. The way each of these men worship Kinsley... swoon... my heart truly ached for Rip and Kinsley, they were both dealt with different forms of trauma in their pasts. Shore definitely evened it out with his banter... always wanting to be naked... hate for crabs but love for potatoes. Haha
what truly made Run for Us stand out wasn't just the heat but also Kinsley's journey. She's learning her self-worth and reclaiming her happiness. She finally learns to choose herself instead of letting her mom control her.
On a side note, her cousin/BFF Jace was such an amazing support person for her. He was always rooting for her and also even paid for the masked men experience for her.

Definitely think this is the best one in the series!
Kinsley needs a break from her everyday routine, especially from her mum who is constantly complaining that she’s not married with kids at 29.

Kinsley books 2 weeks away for her 30th in this cute small town called Bluebell Bay and her cousin says she’s booked her some fun with some masked men who can rock her world.

The boys are great, Shore gives the party lover vibe who wants to always be naked and cause pure chaos.
Kasen is the chill big hearted guy that is super comforting.
Rip, has my heart he’s anxious, vulnerable, very sweet and kind. Having his anxiety shown throughout the story was perfect & relatable.

This isn’t just pure filth, this is my favourite because of the finding herself element. She’s learning how to love herself, put herself first and finding a family that support her and cheer for her.

Jaye Pratt has nailed this series and I have loved devouring them
