This book has a long subtitle, but the main description of its content is the title listed above. Dawson defines boundaries as the way we differentiate what we are, what we are ready to share, and with whom and what we do not want to share. Each person needs to set his own boundaries: what is right for each person and what is not right.
Dawson talks about the meaning and types of boundaries. He discusses rules you need to follow and how not to send out the wrong signals to others. Just as important each person must respect the personal boundaries of others. The author explains how to create boundaries and what to do when the lines between boundaries become blurry. That is the time to concentrate on fixing them.
There are chapters that specifically discuss boundaries in marriage, dating, at work, with families and friends. This book is easy to read in the sense that there is not a lot of technical jargon. It is a general discussion of an issue often quoted in terms such as “I need my personal space.” If the reader is searching for an in-depth analysis of boundaries, this seventy-page essay is not the book. However, it is an interesting book to open the mind on the subject. Recommended for young adults and adults.
