This book is fantastic as it had my attention from the beginning. Of course my favorite character was Faith. The first meeting between Faith and Ketch was not the best. When Ketch gets bit by the rattler was so scary and time was important. When she told the nurse she was his fiancé was so cute and the kiss was amazing. Then the clothes she left for him to wear was great. When he found out about her loosing the property was a turning point in this story, then the tornado and the storm cellar, then the fire at the ranch, and the loss of her father each helped him and her become stronger together. This story is filled with so much heartache, suspense, and romance the hard way it is almost impossible to put it down without finishing it. I received a free copy of this book but I am leaving a review of my own free will. This story is well written and keeps your interest throughout the entire story. I would like to recommend this story to anyone because I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
The story was fine, the pacing and passage of time was spotty, many of the characters, including the MC’s felt surface and flat at times, like the idea of a character and not a person. Truthfully I probably won’t read anymore by this author.
That being said, there were errors and inconsistencies that lead me to feel like this might have been written in part or in whole by AI. I can’t prove that… it’s just a feeling I get based on my experience and understanding of human writing and story telling as well as the nature of the errors; they don’t seem like human made mistakes.
Examples of errors would be: missing connector words, the wrong version of a word like “here” instead of “hear” or, words that are close-ish if you push yourself to be forgiving like, “people filtered the gallery of the courtroom” instead of “people filtered in, filling the gallery of the courtroom”
Some continuity issues like - she was standing already, then she got up; or he was standing by the window in just his boxers and hat, but when he came over to her (sitting on the bed), he was wearing a shirt buy which she pulled him closer for a kiss; she was injured in a significant event, where she badly sprained her knee, but for the last 4 chapters it’s her ankle that was hurt.
These are flaws that don’t seem natural. Again I can’t prove it’s artificially produced so at minimum, because I was able to finish it, I exercise speculative rights to rate this 3/5.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Faith McAllister is one tough cowgirl, holding her family’s cattle property together by the tips of her fingers with sheer determination. She is challenged by the arrival of city-slicker Ketch Lancaster who wants her land. Sparks fly between the two of them right from the start and Ketch is entranced by the spitfire that he has encountered. Together they face corruption; backhanded land dealings and devastating loss but Faith is still standing despite everything. Ketch takes frantic action to ensure that Faith and her sister Daisy are not robbed of their family legacy. Finally, Faith faces a challenge in a barrel racing competition where the prize is more than just the money, it is her personal salvation. There is heart-wrenching sadness in this story but the ending makes it bearable.
This is part of the Steamy Small Town series, but is read as a standalone. If you like steamy small town romances that are enemy to lovers, this book’s for you. Great characters that are well developed and full of substance. A story line that grabs your attention right at the beginning and makes this book hard to put down. Steam, betrayal, secrets and more drama than you can imagine, this book will take you on an emotional roller coaster. Faith and Ketch will win your heart and you will find yourself pulling for their HEA. A great book that is a wonderful read. An emotional romance full of suspense, heartbreak, and healing. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest opinion.
Faith and Ketch’s rocky start grows into a powerful, touching bond. From rattlesnake bites to raging storms, their love is tested and true. The locket’s symbolism adds warmth to this beautifully written journey. The epilogue gives a hint of the future.
MAN! Faith and Ketch do not have an easy time of it!
Talk about action-packed! Emotional!
This journey was tough, but as enemies-to-lovers always does…hardships the main characters encounter and endure make the to-lovers part well worth all the angst!
This was my first Tess Langford story and absolutely, will not be my last!
Faith is the perfect name for this rancher. even when everything says to quit and lose faith, she puts her head down and keeps going. her only problem is in accepting help. originally he was a buyer for her nearly bankrupt land, but he became her hero.
This was an amazing Story of family legacy, drama, tension, sizzling chemistry, unexpected events and triumph over all. Mesmerizing story, so very good.
