Lt. Tom Gilbreath, who is called "the old hound dog" behind his back, is the one who often delivers bad news. He is soon to receive some of his own. His wife, Marlene, often knows as much about what is going on with the Rocky Bluff P.D. as her husband, and she knows even more about the other officers' private lives.
I'm hooked on F.M. Meredith's Rocky Bluff PD series! Ms. Meredith has created a cast of characters who have drawn me into their lives and made me care what happens to them. Although each novel can be read as a standalone and each has a unique, intriguing plot, I recommend reading the series from the beginning. "Bad Tidings," the second novel in the series, is a realistic glimpse into the lives of the police officers, detectives and their wives in the small town of Rocky Bluff. Although much of the subject matter is a bit "darker" than in "Final Respects," the first novel, I finished the book with feelings of hope and optimism and I'm definitely looking forward to the third book!
In this "slice of life" mystery, there are murders and infidelity. There is also betrayal to add to the mix. I am enjoying the series and will begin reading the next volume as soon as I finish this review.
Bad Tidings is the second book in the series written by F. M. Meredith. I love reading about the lives of police officers and their family. There is a caring I feel for all the characters and want to know what will happen to them. I'm looking forward to reading the next book. I have problems putting them down!
