The Games We Play (Riley Grayson) #1

The Games We Play Vol. 1

Rate this book
Allison Ford is living an uncomplicated life, and she’s perfectly happy with that. Until high school sweetheart, Pat Johnson, breaks up with her because he met someone else since they parted ways for college. Suddenly, Ali’s simple life seems to spin off track and she doesn’t know how to fix it.

Riley Grayson goes after what he wants. Or rather, what he wants usually comes looking for him. And what he wants is mind blowing sex any night of the week.

So when their paths cross on New Year’s Eve at the hottest party of the year, it seems like their two personalities will mix as well as oil and water. But something about Ali catches Riley’s attention—the thrill of the chase, perhaps—and he can’t let her go home alone.

Will Riley be just the solution Ali’s been looking for to get over Pat? Or is he leading her down a path that is best avoided?

== > The Games We Play 1 is approx. 150 pages and is volume 1 in the Riley Grayson series. This story is planned to unfold over five volumes.

Frustrating story, a bit all over the place. Breaking up, random hooking up, manwhores and weepy heroines. Not what I would usually choose for a fun read but I will give the next part a try seeing as this one ends with a cliff hanger.

A great start to the series!.
Allison thought that she had it all. She was lucky enough to have found true love. Pat was her first everything. They have an amazing night and then he drops the bomb on her. Pat confesses that he has met someone else but of course he didn't mean for it to happen.
Allison is heartbroken her world is turned upside down. She has always felt that she has lived in her perfect sisters shadow and now to have this happen makes her feel used and a disappointment to the people around her. She confides in her best friend and decides to reinvent herself and maybe along the way have a fling!
The meeting between Ali and the uber sexy bad boy Riley is a coincidence that neither one can shake! They happen to reconnect at a New Year's Eve party. The attraction is undeniable and the air surrounding them is electric. Riley Greyson has never had this happen to him and it confuses him. Ali is looking for a fling and Riley thought that he was up for it but something is different .
I can't wait for book 2 to see how this game plays out!
I was gifted this book for an honest review.

Ali was dating her high sweetheart when they parted ways to college. They thought they could make it work and Ali wanted to marry him. But little did she know pat didn't feel the same way. He ended up breaking up with her. She was heartbroken and didnt know what to do because she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with him. Her friend Hilary tells her to have a one night stand. So on New Year's Eve she runs into Riley again which he is an artist. They hit it off and have so much physical attraction. She ends up going home with him. But in the end he ends up walking out on her leaving her confused on what just happened! And that's how it ends.

pretty good.

So I read backstage pass from this author and I was not feeling it. Barely got through book 1 and had no interest in reading the rest of the books in that series. This actually isn't half bad! There are some annoying traits in the characters, but seem typical of 18-20 yr olds, which is the age of the characters in this book. But holy man, can this author write a cliffhanger. I gotta say that is what keeps me hooked! Riley is a complete douchebag and does not deserve Ali at all, but he is growing on me!

Another win by Elizabeth Nelson.
I love this author’s writing. She has got it down.
I received an ARC for my honest review. The connections between characters are amazing. You feel Allison’s pain in the first chapter and hate Pat right away. But everything happens for a reason.
When Ali meets Riley it is tense. He is so torn up by his past and I hope he can get over it to move forward. I need book 2 ASAP to see what happens with Ali and Riley next.

Total hotness

Ali has dated the same boy for a couple of years. After they get done having sex, he breaks up with her. Totally devastated, her friend talks her into going to a New Year's Eve beach party. Riley is a former surfer and a lady's man. Now he paints awesome paintings. They hook up and he takes her home. It gets hot and heavy and then he gets up and leaves......and they leave you hanging! Have to get book 2.

First I know this is a series but this was one big cliffhanger. It might has well have ended in mid-sentence. After reading the blurbs for the rest of the series, I have no desire to read 600 pages of angst and indecision with the two characters more than likely getting together in the last few chapters of the last book.

A really good short read

I think this is a really good book. It's the type of book you want to read when you're looking for an escape. I liked the character development and the story progression. It is a cliffhanger and it leaves the reader wanting more.

Just aren't feeling it as it's like one book split into 5 sections instead of been all in one so it didn't even scratch the surface of the story for me so can't bring myself to spend money on the next 4 when it should all just be sold as 1
