Lisa Messenger is the vibrant, game-changing founder, CEO and editor-in-chief of Collective Hub. She launched Collective Hub as a print magazine in 2013, with no experience in an industry that people said was either dead or dying. Collective Hub has since grown into an international multimedia business and lifestyle platform with multiple verticals across print, digital, events and education – all of which serve to ignite human potential.

Five years and 52 issues into the print magazine Lisa made the courageous move to “break” the very thing that she started – the print magazine – enabling her to take some time and space to evolve into the next iteration and again disrupt… watch this space.

Lisa is an international speaker, best-selling author, and an authority on disruption in both the corporate sector and the start-up scene. Lisa’s experience in publishing has seen her produce over 400 custom-published books for companies and individuals as well as having authored and co-authored 24 herself.

Most notably, Lisa chartered her ride to success with her bestselling book Daring & Disruptive: Unleashing the Entrepreneur and its sequels Life & Love: Creating the Dream, which reached number-one on Booktopia; Money & Mindfulness: Living in Abundance, that shot to best-selling status within the first month; Breakups & Breakthroughs: Turn an Ending Into a Beginning and Purpose soon followed.

Her passion is to challenge individuals and corporations to get out of their comfort zones, find their purpose, change the way they think, and to prove there’s more than one way to do anything. She encourages creativity, innovation, and an entrepreneurial spirit, and lives life to the absolute max. Most mornings she wakes up and pinches herself at how incredible her life is, but is also acutely aware and honest about life’s bumps and tumbles along the way.

With fans including Sir Richard Branson and New York Times best-selling author Bradley Trevor Greive, and a loyal fan base, Lisa’s vision is to build a community of like-minded people who want to change the world.

Wow. I've never read a book about someone who had started and stopped so many business but not because she couldn't hold down a job but because she wanted MORE and could SEE more!! Lisa Messenger is someone that I would love to follow on all platforms. I loved a lot of her tips and tricks but what I took lost were her tips on developing a better YOU and how that makes for a better business.

An easy and inspiring read. Most of the advice is fairly general. A nice reminder though for those navigating the entrepreneurial path, and it is also enjoyable to hear about her personal experience.

The more I read these types of books, the more excited I get about life - about finding my purpose and loving others. Daring and Disruptive was a fun and inspiring biography/self-help book. I loved that all the business and goal achieving advice was from Messenger's own experience. I found this book for $1.5o in an Anglican op-shop, and to be honest it's been one of the best bargains I've come across this year! Lisa Messenger goes beyond just talking about business and finance, but rather focusses on purpose and meaning, and the "why" behind our actions and decisions. She's encouraged me to pursue my dreams even harder and now I genuinely believe I can achieve them! Thank you Lisa if you are reading this.

I had first discovered this book upon scouring the internet for more of Lisa Messenger's works, being a big fan of the Collective Hub workbooks bought awhile back (Eg. The Ultimate Guide to Social Media Marketing, Start Up to Scale Up starter kit). Before diving in, I figured that I would not discover what was not already discovered before in other self-help books I had read so far like the commonplace tips be your best self and think outside the box. Also from just looking at the cover, I thought that this would go more in-depth on Ms. Messenger's life and how she got to where she is now. Little did I know that I was still able to learn something new from this book, as just like what is on the tin (or book in this case) Ms. Messenger's writings does truly daringly disrupt ones' thought process. Not only are the commonplace tips there (see: being your best self) but in Lisa-format, but there are also other useful tips like building your culture, leverging with non-monetary assets, and failing fast just to name a few. Amongst all of the great tips presented here, the tip that stood out to me in particular was failing fast, since this was very bizarre to wrap my head around and stood on an extreme opposite end to the usual "plan out meticulous business plans" tips resonating from previous books read. With all this said, if you are looking for insight on providing a more fresh mindset and perspective, definitely give this book a try!

4.5 stars. A quick read (read it in an afternoon) and packed with some great quotes, inspiring messages, and many useful ideas. I love Lisa's energy and was nodding my head many times as I related to her entrepreneurial anecdotes. I placed at least two dozen sticky notes where I'll be back to flip through and get inspired again. Would definitely recommend if you are thinking about starting a business or if you've been at it for a few years as I have and need a bit of fuel to reenergize.

This book is so good I've read it 3 times already! It's a personal and honest chronicle of Lisa Messenger's business endeavors. It's full of insightful stories and business advice. It's both an inspirational book and a practical guide for those who want to be entrepreneurs. Messenger's less that ideal beginnings prove that anyone can accomplish anything! It makes me feel empowered every time I read it.

A pretty easy read. Love what Lisa's achieved especially with her magazine which is amazing, but found this book a bit 'fluffy'. A lot of the concepts are, I suppose not surprisingly, pretty familiar and I'm sure if you've read people like Tony Robbins plenty of the ideas on here will ring a bell also. Still valuable of course, and a quick fix of inspiration, just not as meaty as i'd hoped.

I didn’t get as much out of this book as I was hoping for. It’s a little fluffy and generic rather than a step by step approach to launching a business. I did find the chapter ‘leverage it all’ provided good tips on strategic partnerships.

Easy to read, however, a lot of bumper sticker statements without a lot of detail. I would have been interested in some of the backstory. For ‘how to’s’ and practical advice become a B-Schooler.

An easy and quick read on some of the characteristics of an entrepreneur/self starter.

I did find it a bit superficial, so maybe not a book for you if you really want some pointers on what to do to start your next business or improve your current one as it is more high level conceptual thinking with nice personal quotes.

More like a combination of affirmation quotes and an easy read on the author’s formula for success.

I really liked this book as a good quick motivational kick in the butt if you are thinking about getting started in the entrepreneurial world. I had never heard of the author before reading, but she takes you on the journey of her many business ventures and how she found success. I think she provided some very broad ( not really new) suggestions on how to start. If you are looking for a detailed step by step, this is not for you but it is definitely motivational.

I LOVE this woman - she is one of my biggest sources of inspiration and motivation... an AMAZING mentor who has written such a positive and uplifting book to guide everyone on whatever journey they wish to take whether they be entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial.

I LOVE that she wants to inspire and guide all no matter what their personal journey may be.

I LOVE that she fills this book with information and guidance from personal experiences that are actually relevant to most people whether they're starting their journey or already deep down their path.

The way that she writes makes you want to keep reading - she writes with excitement and passion and you can feel her words leaping off the page with her endless enthusiasm for what she does.

Lisa Messenger, Founder and CEO of Collective Hub, is full of inspirational, insightful cues on how to make it in the entrepreneurial industry. In her one of many nonfiction books, Daring & Disruptive is a light-hearted, quick read, filled with plenty of useful ideas for starting your own business, taking the steps to start your side-hustle and the realities of being a business owner. Lisa’s advice will help you find your true purpose, to back yourself, stay on track and be true to who you are. All whilst becoming an insanely successful businesswoman. A fun, interesting read that is perfect for the budding CEO in you.

I found this book very motivational. I took notes with this book and I think I will find them useful later on as I develop my career. This book made me want to take action and I now believe that I can accomplish anything I can imagine with the right steps/mindset. I think this book is worth reading and that anyone could manage to get something out of it. Lisa's voice is energetic and endearing, and makes you feel that she has faith in you. I recommend this book for anyone with a creative and/or business minded spirit.

What an enjoyable free book from the Goodreads giveaways! It was written by a zany extrovert, who has started many small companies. She calls herself a serial entrepreneur. The book is full of interesting anecdotes, and lots of practical advice for starting your own business. There are many motivating mantras to help start, keep going, become wildly successful and what to do with success. This was really full of hope for those who need to be daring and disruptive in the business world.

Lisa has done an amazing job. The messages in the book are simple, witty, and relevant. She has an amazing way of writing that has you moving from laughter to self-reflection in the matter of a few sentences. I am an avid reader of the Collective magazine, and this book has the same uplifting and daring attitude that permeates the magazine.
