APRIL?!! I have to wait until April for the next book??!!

full review to come but I LOVED this book! Even more than the 2 before this!

I had the pleasure of reviewing the 1st book in this series and it was my first time to read Cat. Since that time I have remedied that and count her as one of my favorite authors! I love her style, her voice, her characters and she is funny as heck on Facebook!! LOL

**swoon** Logan… he’s a soldier, he’s a cowboy… we’ve seen bits of him in the first 1 and a half books. We saw Emma’s sassiness in book 1 and I loved the relationship that she has with her sister. I was eager to jump into his story. As completely expected, Cat did NOT disappoint!

This book starts as everyone is gathering for the wedding of Tuck and Becca. We got a tease of a potential Jace and Emma hook-up during book 1 and now we get to see what went on and where things could go. Lucky for Logan there’s something wonky going on with Jace and his ex and Emma has just about had her fill of waiting around.

Throw in a family emergency for Logan and the angst that goes along with that and our story takes off from there. I was torn up for Logan and the decisions that he was forced to make about his family business. But it was so heartwarming to see his friends step up and offer the support that he needed. I love that Emma put herself out there and was not afraid to reach for what she wanted! (although she had great incentive to see where the relationship with Logan could go)

As always we got our smoking hot love scenes and our laugh out loud moments that we have come to expect from Cat Johnson. And I got to better know and love all the characters that make up the Oklahoma Nights family. Tucks’ brother Tyler could have stolen the show in this one!! I feel a potential Tyler story for book 4… fingers-crossed and hint hint Ms. Johnson! As for book 3, I have it on good authority that the release will be in late March and I am eager to see how Cat weaves her magic and leads us into Jace and Tara’s story… because to be completely honest they were both pretty obnoxious in this book! LOL

I cannot wait!

Two Times As Hot was really frustrating to me because I wanted Emma to find her man from the start but like reality things don't always work out that way. Which really made me like the story because a person could easily see themselves in Emma's shoes even though after the way she was treated she still went back to someone that I felt used her.
But that made Emma likeable because she still had an open enough heart to give Logan a second chance. I think Logan and Emma are good together once you get past all the confounding issues that build up between them. It's a realistic and sweet read that just might ease the ache of a hard shell heart.

Until next time book lovers...

This is one of a number of books I read over the holiday period, but didn't have the time (or more honestly the inclination) to write a review as I was reading it, so this review will not be as long or as detailed as my usual reviews are.  Christmas was crazy busy with cooking and last minute shopping and I just wanted to read another great book without having to use my brain to write an intelligent and cohesive review, so I apologise for my dreadful laziness and promise to do better through the rest of the year (except maybe during my two 3 week long holidays where I might be too tired to read as well as review).

Although Two Times as Hot is an average length romance it reads like a 100 page novella because 70% of the story happens over a 24 hour period.  Emma is a slightly different romance heroine than usual - she's much more modern and outgoing than the standard shy virgin.  She knows what she wants and is happy to have a one night stand if that's the only way to get it.

I really liked the sections that involved Emma, Becca, Tucker and Tyler playing 'keep Emma's pregnancy a secret from Logan', especially Tyler's comments and Logan being clueless about what was going on and why everyone was behaving so strangely.  It actually had me laughing out loud at a few points.

(Just re-reading my review and I gotta re-read this book!)

Loved this one even more than the first...Logan you sexy beast!
I really enjoyed the first in this series, One Night with a Cowboy. But I really must say that this story blew the other out of the water. Seriously, Ms Johnson did drop it like it’s hot.. and boy, was this story ever hot!

Emma is looking for love in all the wrong places. One “almost” night with Jace, her future brother-in-law’s rodeo buddy, has left Em with a sense of worthlessness. Why else would a man answer his phone in the middle of kissing her? Fast forward 10 months to her sister Becca and Tuck’s wedding (leads from One Night) and she not only has the eye of Jace once again, but Logan. Logan is older, wiser and considerably more skilled at everything. Tactical maneuvers and planning are his expertise and he uses all his skills to swoop in while Jace is dallying with his ex to win Emma over for the night.

Sadly, morning and six used foil packets later, Emma has to leave for home and Logan doesn’t stop her. Even worse, Em’s business card is lost in the shuffle and once again, Em believes she has been tossed over for someone else. I loved how vulnerable Em was and the fact that she didn’t try to hide or lie about her feelings. When Logan needed her three weeks later, not only was she there for him, his family and his parent’s store, she came out and told him she would move to Oklahoma. She put the ball in his court.

The story was full of meddling in-laws, stolen kisses, and fast funny dialogue that had me reading this in one sitting. A great read! Enjoy!

* I was given a copy of this book from Kensington Books via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Emma Hart was in Oklahoma with 2 missions, to find her sister Becca a new man to let her hair down with and to get her the dream job she secretly submitted her resume for at OSU. She soon discovered the $10 rode tickets were the best investment she'd made on the trip as they meet not one but two hot cowboys, Tucker Jenkins and Jace. While things with Jace don't turn out as Emma had hoped, a year later Emma finds herself at her baby sister's rehearsal dinner and the maid of honor for the big event the next day. However, running into Jace again is the least of her problems like she originally thought. Enter Lieutenant Colonel Logan Hunt, the groom's boss, surrogate older brother and best friend, and this city girl's about to be thrown into a future she never saw coming via a sexy military man.

I've read a lot of Cat Johnson's books, so when I saw this one available on NetGalley I had to request it. The author has a way of making you fall in love with her characters. Emma and Logan were so realistic you could pick them off the pages and put them into your life. The side character development was not lacking and set things up for the rest of the series, making you ready to start the next one. The romance wasn't fairy tale but was very sweet and heart felt. The heroine wasn't afraid to kick ass, even while showing her vulnerabilities. I also have a soft spot for cowboys so this one was perfect!

Cat did a great job with this next installment in her Oklahoma Nights series and I really enjoyed it! This is a solid 4.5 star read and I would love to have more with these characters, so I can't wait for the next book! You definitely feel the chemistry between Emma and Logan from the first moment they set eyes on one another, and things only get more intense as the story progresses. I must admit how refreshing it was to have an older hero approaching his 40's and a heroine in her mid 30's, since so often they are younger in this type of fiction. Also, how hot is it that Logan is not only a man in uniform, but a cowboy to boot! The author did a great job of making me fall in love with all of the characters, and I found all their family dynamics to be fun. This story left me all warm and fuzzy with a great smile on my face.

I had high hopes for this book after reading the first in the series. Alas, this story didn’t quite meet my expectations.

Emma, the sister of Becca in the first book, was a force to be reckoned with while Tuck was courting Becca. In her own tale, Emma is tentative and can’t make a good decision to save her life. Where did the strong woman who pushed her sister to move halfway across the country and pursue a relationship with a handsome cowboy she just met go?

Emma has two men competing for her attention. Jace is the cowboy she met when Becca and Tuck met. He came on hot and heavy then left her alone and wanting in a hotel room to change his ex-girlfriend’s tire. Say what? He scuttles back and apologizes ten months later and Emma is okay with this, believing he must have had a good reason for treating her like an afterthought. Really? She also agrees to be his date for Becca’s wedding where he GHOSTS HER AGAIN. Doh!!

Meanwhile, the delectable Logan shows interest, which Emma reciprocates, but he must wait until Jace makes the ultimate mistake before he gets a chance to prove his worth. Unfortunately, Emma has a huge secret that she refuses to disclose to Logan and this causes yet more dilly dallying and miscommunications. Damn, Emma, pull yourself together and act like an adult.

I did love the romance between Emma and Logan. It was just too long coming and my patience with Emma ran thin. There is a third book which I hope will restore the author to my TBR list.

Did I actually like this story the first time? It was ok, but the heroine bugged me more than she did not. And the narration was not good; so that did not help.

This is a mediocre read. Neither the hero or heroine stood out. Not much of anything stood out. There are some things that really bugged me that I will put in my spoiler below.

This is a safe read.

Previous comments:
Really liked this one. Logan was hot! I also really liked how the heroine handled the drama going on.

On occasion I read a blurb to a book and completely miss out on what it actually says. Two Times as Hot is one of those books. In all honesty I probably didn’t read it at all. I loved Cat Johnson’s One Night with a Cowboy so much I grabbed this one as soon as it was available to grab. That being said imagine my disappointment when the title says Two and there are two men listed on the back cover and this was not a ménage. LOL! It is still an amazing read filled with some deliciously hot sexing. I just thought it would be a ménage romance.

Emma is one of those meddling sisters that I think any woman would love to have. She meddles with good intentions. She only wants the best for her loved ones, and for herself. There are so many times that the odd seemed stacked against Emma. There are times you will scream at this book to just please let the stars align for this woman. Emma is such a likeable woman. You want all that is good in the world to fall perfectly into her lap.

How many times have you looked back and thought you had all you needed until something pops up that you don’t have. Then you realize that that is exactly what you have been missing. Emma is that for Logan. He thought his singlehood was all fine and good until after just one night with Emma and he has to say goodbye to her. That is when he realizes that casual and them do not belong in the same sentence.

I have to tell y’all that the huge side story in this Oklahoma Night’s book is Becca and Tucker’s wedding. I loved that. I got more of that sexy cowboy that I loved so much. It was lovely to see so much of that couple after their happily ever after.

There is a teaser chapter at the end giving readers a peak at who the next couple will be. After reading plenty of these two in this installment in the series I can’t wait to get my hands on Three Weeks with a Bull Rider. Those two are going to have one hell of an entertaining trip to their happily ever after.

The second book in Cat Johnson's Oklahoma Nights series, Two Times as Hot packs a punch for the petite teller of awesome tales.

It's wedding time for Becca Hart and Tucker Jenkins, which means all sorts of people who normally would be kept apart by the day to day, come together to party. Lieutenant Colonel Logan Hunt was intent on remaining the career military man but when he sets his eyes on his best friend's hot little future sister-in-law, sanity goes out the window. When he spies Emma Hart in the company of Bull Rider, Jace Mills, he gets a tinge of jealousy and he doesn't even know her yet.

Having been robbed of a hot night with a cowboy, Emma Hart returns to Oklahoma, the scene of the crime, still the deprived woman. When Jace appears to be apologetic about their last ill-fated encounter, Emma decides to give him another chance until he totally messes up again. Enter wickedly handsome Logan to take up where Jace missed out, but things are different with Logan and Emma. They have a true liking for one another, mutual respect and admiration, but they still both only want a good time. Hmmm, but can Emma go back to her old life and can Logan return to his without the pair missing out on the best things that have ever happen to them?

In true Cat Johnson tradition, things become really complicated really fast and the reader is in for a wild ride filled with seriously hot sex scenes mixed into this gripping story. Once again I remained awake while the sunrise began to peek through my window and I finally read the last page. Nary a boring moment in Two Times as Hot by the indomitable Cat Johnson. This installment of the Oklahoma Nights series comes your way September 24th, but I suggest you get to pre-ordering it now. It's one very awesome read and I know you will love it as much as I did.

You know i read book one in this series and was not 100% sold. I liked it a lot but it just didn't give me that POP i wanted. Well book two has definitely got the POP!. We met most of the players in this story in book one. Logan is Tuck's boss and commanding officer but they are also best friends. Although Emma appeared in book one Logan doesn't meet her until now and it's a knocks you on your butt kind of meeting when they see each other. Logan and Emma have this awesome night together after Tuck and Becca's ( Emma's sister) wedding. Emma goes back to New York not sure where she stands with Logan. Logan gets home to find his dad has had a major stroke and is now bogged down in trying to help his parents with their store and his dads recovery. In the meantime Emma comes back to Oklahoma for a visit with a really big surprise. If only she can figure out what Logan's feeling are for her she might be able to tell what it is. What i like about this book is both Logan and Emma are older and have some life experience. Logan is stable and honorable and Emma is a lot of fun and loving. Throw in a couple of extra people to get in between them and a big ole secret and nosy butting in family members and it's a lot of fun to see this couple find their way to each other. A sexy fun read!! Hang in to the end and there's a peak at the next book where we might find out that Jace and Tara might not be as annoying as they come across in this book. I can't wait!

So yeah there is nothing better than a hot cowboy right?? Well what about a hot cowboy who also happens to be a officer in the army??? That is what I like to call a Double Hot Whammy and its all in this awesome 2nd book by Cat Johnson.

I am so loving this series and it appears that the books are just going to get hotter and hotter as they go on.

Logan and Emma's story is a real sweet one and I had that permanent cheesy grin on my face, the one that comes with reading a really sweet, awesome book.

So if you are looking for a hot alpha cowboy/officer to warm your nights, I highly recommend this book..

P.S. I'm thinking that if anyone is in the market for planning a holiday any time soon they might want to check out Oklahoma... Seems they grown their cowboys seriously hot down there....

This book was definitely much better than the first in the series. I'm still new to Cat Johnson, so I realize this is an older book, but even 6 years later, it's still relevant and a great read.

We met both Logan & Emma in Book 1. Emma is Becca's sister and still living in NY. She's getting lonely there though without her sister, no boyfriend and she doesn't enjoy her graphic design job anymore. Logan is Tucker's boss, his best friend and their parents still live next door to each other. So they're all intertwined.

In Book 1, we knew that Jace left with Emma the night Tuck and Becca hooked up at the rodeo. But we don't know anything more about that night until we get to this book. It was quite a surprise to get that backstory. Fast forward to Becca & Tuck's wedding weekend. Emma arrives to the party and Logan can't take his eyes off the NY beauty. Only he sees that Jace also has his eyes set on her, so it's a battle to see who can win her over first.

It was honestly no contest though. I wouldn't say it was love at first sight (even though it's mentioned in the book), but definitely lust, attraction and chemistry. Emma ends up working at Logan's family's sporting goods store after his dad has a stroke and they become very close during this time. I found them incredibly cute and loved how well they worked together. There's one surprise thrown in there that I look forward to reading more about in the next book (hopefully).

These two were certainly deserving of one another. There is one annoying character in this one, Tara. Like seriously, I wanted to slap her and just tell Logan to be honest with her already. I really hope she grows up in this next book because it will be a DNF for me if she's the annoying hearts in eyes brat she was in this one.

One weekend at a rodeo in Oklahoma should be enough to loosen her sister up, at least, that's what Emma Hart figures. And if she ends up having some fun with a hot cowboy herself......well, she's never gonna turn her back on an opportunity like that!

Back in Oklahoma, one year later, this time for Becca's wedding, Emma quickly spots the cowboy who had left her all wired up in a hotel room, never to be seen or heard from again. But her attention is quickly drawn to the man standing with the groom to be. Now there is someone she could see herself spending the weekend with, before flying back to New York.

Long time neighbour and now commander of the groom, Lieutenant Colonel Logan Hunt can feel his blood stirring when the bride's sister walks in. Emma is a knockout and even though he is not looking for permanence, he has no objection to a temporary diversion. No sooner has the thought entered his mind, or he sees another man make his move and it becomes clear he needs to be a lot faster on his feet if he wants a chance to spend any time with this woman.

When they finally connect, Emma and Logan feel the instant attraction, and understanding that this has an expiry date, the two throw themselves in a no-holds barred, hot and steamy encounter. Both are blown away with the intensity, but before you know it, Emma is back on a plane to New York and Logan is dealing with serious family issues.

After several weeks, Emma hears that Logan could use some help with the family store and with her vacation time saved up, she decides to fly back to Oklahoma to lend a hand. Of course, the fact that she has barely been able to stop thinking about him has nothing to do with it. It's just an opportunity to see her sister, and lend a hand at the same time, and maybe see if he thought about her too. Oh, and she is bringing along a little something.

*****

Good, sexy, fun!!!!

I loved the maturity of Logan, even though he thought he was not one for commitment, it had very little to do with being a player, and more to do with his profession and the simple fact that he just had not had cause to contemplate settling down with anyone. When he was placed in a position where he needed to take on full responsibility for his family and their livelihood, it was initially almost too much of a burden, but almost immediately when Emma arrived and gently started problem solving with him and providing him with different forms of support, he started appreciating the value of having the right person by your side.........and of course, in your bed!

Emma is a wonderful enjoyer of life, who doesn't necessarily is around and wait for good things to happen to her, but will go out and try to suck as much marrow out of the bone as she can. Unfortunately, she cannot turn frogs into princes, and even Emma would love to end up with a fairy tale love. With her big, generous heart and her open giving of herself, she has always been at risk of being taken advantage of. She will tell herself it's ok just to have fun for a while and then walk away, but her heart gets invested and generally hurt. She needs to make sure that Logan wants her for who she is, for how she makes him feel, not for any other consideration. It is the only way she will have her dream.

Cat Johnson writes about the depth of friendship and brotherhood. How it carries from childhood on and builds bonds stronger than blood. She has a way of addressing loaded subjects in a way that doesn't feel heavy-hearted, with enough humour and banter to give the book an all over uplifting feeling. And, lets face it, Cat Johnson knows how to write a dang hot sex scene.....one of the things that always stands out about her books.

✨A sweet and spicy tale of finding what you didn't know you wanted.✨

FTC: I have a long-held admiration for this author and her work. She has been on the blog numerous times and I have chatted to her online via twitter on occasion. That being said, this review is as unbiased as I can make it and I wasn’t paid for it.

The first in this series was a book that I really enjoyed so I was looking forwards to the second outing. I actually enjoyed this installment even more as it hit more favourite trope boxes and I found the characters to be more relatable. All in all, it is one I recommend.

The book starts with Jace and Emma’s meeting in the first book. As I knew that he wasn’t the main hero in this book, I couldn’t help but wonder as to the reasoning for this addition to the book. All becomes clear later on as it seems that this chemistry between these two that creates some delicious jealous chemistry between Logan and Emma.

Emma is the driving force to this tale. Although she and Logan probably have equal POV throughout, hers was the stronger voice and the one who I related to more. She is the one who put herself out there first but she is also the one also keeping some massive secrets that are holding the relationship back. I felt that she was the one with the fate of the relationship in the palm of her hand and that made her actions more important to me. I liked her throughout the book, a woman in charge of her sexual identity but also chock full of the usual fears that all women face. When Jace walked out on her at the beginning, I wanted to smack him in the head but once I saw her and Logan together I knew that it wouldn’t have worked anyway. I loved the way she supported Logan without ever expecting the same emotional support. True, this led to the big secret (which I didn’t agree with by the way. Understand the reason for it yes, but agree with a secret of that magnitude? Never). It was all internal conflict keeping these two apart but Logan wasn’t privy to the information about what that conflict was.

Logan. *swoon*. An army commander who also is a cowboy? How could I get a more perfect hero for me? It also helped that he is playing the dutiful son, the sexy hero and the romantic all in one story. He tries his upmost to get Emma to agree to a relationship with him quite quickly, sure that he fell for her the first moment he laid eyes on her. I loved his character and there wasn’t a second I thought he would hurt her; he was just that darn nice. Nice isn’t what I’d say about the sex scenes in this book, the chemistry combustible and the details never off page. It was a nice blend of gentleman and sexy hero which made me love him from the start. I didn’t put this one down!

There is plenty of page time dedicated to furthering the relationship from the previous book. I loved that I got to see what came after the HEA and it amused me to see how meddlesome they were when it came to the love-life of their friends and family (especially Tucker!).

This is a fabulous addition to a series that I am sorry to see end with the next book. With a sexy, contemporary feel, these cowboys could make anyone gain affection for western heroes. In this one, with its feisty heroine and gentleman cowboy hero, I knew within pages it would end up on my favourite’s shelf. 5 Stars.

Title: Two Times as Hot

Series: Oklahoma Nights book 2

Author: Cat Johnson

One Good Girl...
After her sister snags a hot Oklahoma cowboy, Emma Hart figures it’s her turn to saddle up. And with two country boys pursuing her at once, she’s in for a wild ride...

Two Sexy Guys...
Lieutenant Colonel Logan Hunt can’t deny the heat between him and Emma is fierce. But Logan isn’t looking for anything serious...just a chance to blow off some steam. So why is he crazy jealous when he sees pro bull rider Jace Mills trying to charm Emma into bed?

Winner Takes All...
Logan knows he and Emma could have something special—and not just because she’s smokin’ hot. Now he has to find a way to prove that even a no-strings-attached guy like him can stick around for the long haul…

Two Times As Hot…I think Cat sums up her book in the title. What makes the story so hot, Erin and Logan of course! Erin heads back to Oklahoma for her sister Becca’s wedding to Tucker Jenkins, the bull rider that Becca met last year (from One Night with a Cowboy…another great story). Erin is looking forward to an enjoyable weekend and she hopes that it might just include a hot cowboy (or two?). She quickly runs into Jace, who she met on her first trip to Oklahoma last year. After Jace’s attempt to get together last year failed, he hopes to pick up where he left off. Erin plans on keeping her options open and agrees to be Jace’s date for the wedding. After agreeing to be his date she gets introduced to Logan.

Lieutenant Colonel Logan Hunt works at the university with Tucker and is one of his groomsmen. He has been single for almost two decades though you could say he is married to the military. Logan is smitten with Erin as soon as he sees her getting out of the car at the party the night before the wedding. He is hoping to find some time with her but keeps getting sidetracked by Tucker’s sister Tara (who has quite the crush on Logan…you can imagine the drama!). The day of the wedding he finally gets Erin outside and steals a kiss that has them both wanting to cut out of the early. As soon as they are able to Erin and Logan head to a hotel for one night together. The next day Erin heads back to NY and Logan returns to his parents’ house…when they return home things change for both of them.

Logan is now one of my favorite characters! He is a HOT military cowboy…what more could anyone want!! But there is so much more to Logan than that. He is mature, loyal and I found very sweet (and sexy). Logan is career military man and I think know he is reevaluating what he wants in life. He soon comes to realize that what he wants is a future with Erin. I found Erin’s personality refreshing, she is genuine. She is intelligent, smart and a little bit sassy. A great combination! Together Erin and Logan generate chemistry that is off the charts. I find them to be a really splendid couple (did I say hot?!).

Cat brings back all the characters from One Night With A Cowboy. It was great to see Tucker and Becca get married as I loved them from the first book in the series. The other characters in the story are wonderful and create a really dynamic cast of characters. Two Times as Hot is a wonderful story by a great author. It’s a must read for anyone that wants to read a story that has the perfect mix of drama, comedy and sexiness.

My favorite quote from the book - “I love you so much. You’re my light. My world”

As Becca finds her happily ever after, Emma is now in search of hers. While being burned by a previous encounter with Jace a year ago, she plans to make him regret what he missed. And keep her eyes open for any other available cowboys.

Logan is Tucker’s boss and lifelong friend. Logan’s patience is waning, as he impatiently waits for the pre-wedding celebration to end, and having to deflect the aggressive romantic advances of Tucker’s very young sister. Until he sees Emma getting out of her parents rental car. He is completely bowled over by her beauty. As introductions are made, gazes lock igniting the chemistry between the two.

However, Emma has already accepted Jace’s invitation to be his wedding date and is quickly regretting the decision after meeting Logan. It also seems that another, much younger, female has laid claim to Logan. How can Emma compete with a twenty something with perky breasts and who also has a history with him? Get a little more wine into Emma and there’s no telling what will happen next.

This is another winner for Cat Johnson! I am really enjoying this series and I absolutely love her Oklahoma cowboys! I liked the plot and how not much time had passed between the first book and this book. I am so glad we didn’t miss Becca and Tucker’s wedding and was completely intrigued by the dynamics of the storyline.

Jace, Jace, Jace. I cannot believe he did it again. In lieu of not spoiling it, I will say no more. I am concerned about his extensive emotional baggage and I look forward to finding out what makes this cowboy tick. I don’t like love triangles, but since Jace only gave a half-hearted shot at trying to win Emma, I can let that slide in this book. I was also concerned for Tara, Tucker’s sister, and how her deep-seeded crush may have been caused by some past trauma. I’m looking forward to learning more about her too.

What really brought this book home for me was the family aspect. How Tucker’s family and Logan’s family were neighbors and grew up with each other. And as tragedy struck, I loved how the families pulled together to help each other out.

What affected me the most was the love Logan’s mom and dad had for each other. How much they loved each other, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. It was completely beautiful. Many people don’t have that kind of dedication and love anymore. It’s wonderful to see, even if the characters are fictitious, the love was real.

When I saw this cover and even when I read the promo I was thinking, hmmmmm hot cowboys.. maybe two hot cowboys, erotica here I come. What I got was a surprise! More a story about two people who connect in spite of their surroundings and those around them.. sort of.. Two Times as Hot is book two in Cat Johnson's Oklahoma Nights Series and it's as fun as

1. One Hot Night
2. Two Times as Hot and
3. Three Weeks With a Bull Rider..

(so couldn't help myself)

Emma Hart came to Oklahoma to help her sister start a new life.. Just in time for a rodeo and an interview. Who knew the rodeo would be so much fun? But the real ride begins after it closes down. Emma is sure Jace (the jerk) will be the perfect fun time... that is until he leaves her high and dry in her hotel room when he rushes off to help his ex change a flat tire (seriously?). Emma gets over it.. sorta but now she's back in Oklahoma for her sisters wedding and Jace is back! But as cute as he is Emma has eyes only for Lieutenant Colonel Logan Hunt. Only it seems Logan already has a girl of his own.

Lieutenant Colonel Logan Hunt is just perfect.. Gorgeous, sexy, educated and a military man! He has it all.. life is good! But as he stands up at a friend's wedding Logan glances across the room and discovers the most gorgeous female. One he want's to claim as his own as soon as he can, if he can just get the barnacle (the groom's much younger sister) off of him.

In a way Logan and Emma meet as second chances. Emma is once again ditched by Jace (the jerk) and Logan finally removes the barnacle. But once they connect things steam up awfully fast!

Ms Johnson manages to delve into small town Oklahoma life, family dynamics, friendships and loyalty with a wonderfully sweet story that leaves a reader wanting more. I was thrilled to discover that there will be one more book in this series and I plan to completely enjoy Jace (the jerk) downfall!!

Fun Read.. take a breath and enjoy!!

After encouraging her sister to attend a rodeo and rope herself a cowboy, Emma is disappointed when her own cowboy splits that night before getting down and dirty. After her cowboy blows off a second chance at Tuck's and Becca's wedding, Emma turns her attention to Logan. Instant attraction flares between them, and they share a one-night stand before Emma returns to New York. When Emma returns for a visit a short time later, Logan is thrilled to pick up where they left off while Emma struggles with a secret that could sabotage any hope for a future relationship.

I am usually not one for cowbody romances, but I liked One Night With a Cowboy (Tuck/Becca) so much that I was excited to see Emma's story available on Netgalley. And boy, it did not disappoint! Logan and Emma were extremely likable, and their chemistry was off the charts. Logan, especially, was a great character. Logan's reaction and treatment of Emma upon discovering Emma's secret was surprisingly refreshing, compared to how most male characters act when in that situation. For him to act differently made me like just a little bit more than I already did, which I did not think possible.

Tara, though, was a little annoying. I could see from the start that Johnson would be setting up a romance between Tara and Jase, but she came across as a little too pathetic to be likable in her attempts to show Logan she's all grown up and ready for an adult relationship. I know her character was meant to cause jealously and uncertainty between Emma and Logan, but her lack of self-respect by throwing herself continuously at an uninterested Logan was just sad. Hopefully, her own story will turn that around and round out the rough edges.

Overall, this was a great second installment of the series and I can't wait for the next one about Tara and Jase, despite my dislike for Tara in this book.

Two Times As Hot by Cat Johnson is a good read, but didn't have that wow factor. The romance just lacked the emotion to draw me in, which resulted in me struggling to read the book to the end. I kept waiting for some pivotal moment where the story would grab my interest. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I wasn't a huge fan of Emma either; she is not a very likable character to me. I'm thinking this could by why I had a hard time reading the book as well.

Overall Two Times As Hot is a very well written love story. I just don't think it was meant for me. If I'm going to read a contemporary romance I expect to feel exhausted from the emotional roller coaster ride when I reach the end of the book. I didn't feel anything at the end of this one.

This was a really sweet, sometimes steamy book. Although it is the second in the Oklahoma Nights series I think it would work well as a stand alone as well. Much of the background for the characters is provided. Emma and Logan were both very likeable, and the story was pretty light on the angst - just what I needed! Cat Johnson is one of my favourite authors of western romance - I've loved her Studs & Spurs series. My one complaint about her books in the past has been the lack of a really satisfying ending. It always seemed that things wrapped up too quickly for my taste. I'm really happy to say that she's totally addressed that concern in this newest story. Things wrapped up very naturally and we even got an epilogue!

This is the second in the Oklahoma Nights series. The book does well as a stand alone, since it starts at the wedding of the couple featured in book one. I haven't read the first one but after reading this, I'd certainly like to go back and read it even though I know the couple obviously come together. Definitely enjoyed this one and will look forward to book three, which looks as though it features two of the main secondary characters, Tara and Jace. Or at least I hope so, since they need to find love since they both lost out in this one. Another great read from Cat Johnson!

Put a cowboy on a cover and I'm in. Great to have picked up this book from Cat Johnson. She is really skilled at making me emotionally engage with her characters. They are always fully faceted, three dimensional humans with beauty and flaws. The secondary characters are just as fleshed out and leave lots of room for the series to grow. A sweet heart warming romance that had its bumps along the journey to love, this one's a great read.

This one, for whatever reason, just fell flat. I suppose I was a little turned off right from the beginning that it was a "two men fighting for her" kind of plot and even when it got past that, it just wasn't grabbing me like I hoped. Oh well. I might try it another day, or move on the one of the author's other books just to see if this one was a fluke.
