Following his reunion with his daughter, Sean is anxious to leave the survivors' camp behind with the few refugees who have joined him. His bunker is only a few miles away, but the path is cut off by a massive horde of afflicted. Their only option: south to Charleston, where Turk and his family are waiting.
But Sean's old friend is facing his own set of challenges as afflicted and aggressive survivors do their best to stop him dead.
With the leader of the survivors' camp following close behind Sean, and Turk mired in a struggle to find a boat capable of sailing to the Caribbean, will the two friends come together and lead their families to the safe haven in the Exuma Islands?

This is the 1st series in the genre that I felt held true promise at the start, I gave all I have as far as belief goes, and I had to abandon anyway. The 1st book wasn’t perfect but it was totally entertaining. Like a great B movie! And the infected - so unique with a ton of potential to go in a million directions to carry the storyline over countless episodes. Two main characters who are absolutely likable. Unfortunately, the bits that made the 1st book great just didn’t make it into the 2nd book. Including the afflicted. They were backdrops to the human interactions. And our main characters. They became inconsistent. Especially Turk. They went from being smart, strong, top of their game professionals and survivors- to guys who make stupid, civilian, decisions. That was sad and frustrating to experience. I read this genre for the infected. I love them. I can understand how interactions with them can grow old later on in a series and begin to fall away to a degree. Most do. But that’s by the 4th or 5th book or beyond usually. And still, there’s generally a few good infected fight scenes. They’re—- present. Here, by the 2nd book, it was more an, “oh yeah, btw, and I guess there must have been some infected in the woods and they attacked some people.” No rich scenes. Actually, no scenes at all. And the storyline — to make it all the worse — tired. It’s one we’ve all read before. Which is sad because the 1st book was so cool. What a let down. And, lol, from a “B movie” type 1st book I didn’t think you could be let down! So, after book two, I vowed to give it one, last, gasping try, and read the 3rd book. Yeaahhhh. No. I tried. The dryness continues. This isn’t a “zombie” or “infected” series. I guess it’s just an apocalypse series. With bumbling main characters who make frustrating decisions, undeveloped and unlikable supporting characters, and stereotypical villains. *yawn*
Another amazing book, again full of so many twists and turns keeping me on the edge of my seat, unable to put the book down. I think this one has even more twists and turns then the others. There were several times it felt like my favorite characters wouldn’t make it but in the end they did. I was sad for Barbara’s death but at the same time she wasn’t able to handle the new way of the world and it felt like she didn’t have to suffer in the end. I also felt like it was a relief for some of the characters when she was gone, although it was short lived because of how the story unfolded. It was also such a relief Marley made it, my heart was so relived to know he survived and who he found. I’m trying not to give to many things away. The whole story keeps you mesmerized and guessing at where they’ll go and if they’ll survive each of the challenges they find themselves in. I’m completely enthralled in this series and dreading reaching the end. I’m hoping the next book in the series is out and that I’ll be able to continue the journey, there’s so many unanswered questions and so much uncertainty. One thing to note is that if you haven’t read the short story Ron Winters (that you get free by joining his newsletter) definitely get it and read it! Whether you read it before or after this book it ties in and gives some insight you wouldn’t otherwise have. Again I can’t recommend this series enough! I do plan on reading some of his others when I reach the end of this one. I’m loving this authors story telling skills and so happy I gave his books a chance. If you’ve not read any I can’t recommend this series and author enough.
In this book we have Turk traveling to find a boat for his family, and meanwhile Sean’s Group is trying to get to Turks Bunker.. and then there is Jenny’s Dad..Phil. Phil is the “bad guy” in the story chasing after Sean.. and we meet the other colony that was near Phil run by his buddy. Turk goes through many challenges on his journey toward a boat, and both groups pick up new people.. and a bunch of people die.. mostly outsiders.. though.. can’t tell you everything. I still love Emma her Dad Sean and the gang of girls fighting their way across the country on an ATV! I can see how Phil has turned bitter, scared and ugly.. by grief and I guess the world not going according to his plan..but I’m excited to read the next book.. because I’m wondering where some characters are right now.. and what’s waiting in next let of the journey. The infected by the way.. are acting weird.. not like in Africa.. it is hinted that maybe the virus mutated because while some are fast, most are not and I think one spoke...of I am not mistaken.. So.. their may be more surprises coming from them too! Happy Reading!
Though I am not a huge fan of the zombie apocalypse genre I am a huge fan of LT Ryan. So, Fly Eagles Fly and finish this damned story LT! You make me want to keep reading, that is worth 2 stars all by itself. 1 more because it's you and a 4th because it really is pretty good.
This is an epic novel of survival of two intertwined families. I recommend you read this series in order for a better understanding of the characters and the circumstances leading to their story of survival of a virus, a plague unleashed onto the world, for reasons unknown at this point. An excellent read! I highly recommend!
Great story line that continues on with the survivors planing on leaving for a Caribbean island that has no virus or survivorship have mutated. One of the leaders that have lived through this before has been captured by militants who are planning on killing him. It finishes where they are about to board a sailboat .
Each man and woman for themselves. Catastrophic event and human foibles keep the action going. Who you trust could save or damn your life. Every person had to reach down to their core for the strength and tenacity to do what they must. Couldn't wait for the next in the series.
I thought I would hate reading zombies book. I was do wrong. It fascinated me. I was unable yo put the books down. I am hooked so I read them. No complaints from this retired person! I would read then housework and read. I think I have done more reading than housework! Enjoy the books.
Turk and Sean leave their independent compounds in order to try and meet up. At one point they go through the same building just two days alart. Both men pick up waits and strays as they try to meet up. Unlike most post apocalyptic stories I have read the baddies do not overcome the goodies- but there are no neutrals.
Really enjoying this series. It's fast paced and full of action. The characters well rounded and it will be interesting to watch them grow as the series progresses.
Five star story and the characters grow into people who are in the process of survival and the story keeps you wanting more and more. I am about to start the next book in this series cannot wait to start
Two special ops soldiers on two different missions. Leading them along with they families, to the same objective. A nice diversion from my normal reading.
It was a good book but it jumped around way too much! Right when it got exciting you switched characters! To much left unfinished in this story. Not recommended until the series is completed!
I love this series. It keeps you turning the page. Some things did happened conveniently and I did have to go back to figure out who was who but all in all great story.
Well, Sean is off to find his extra leg. Addison pulled through to Turks bunker and Turk found a sailboat with some supplies. This series is real and fast pace.
I just finished Fractured Part 1, there is no part two and the author has abandoned the series. I wish I knew before I started it. Don’t waste your time.
The afflicted seem to be everywhere. The survivors are not only trying to avoid the afflicted but also the humans who have become very evil. After Sean escaped, he is trying to make it back to his bunker. Turk has found a boat to take his group of survivors to an island in the Caribbean. L.T. Ryan writes so compellingly and delay that you keep reading to see what will happen next. Do not miss this series because it is great!
In this book, we spend a lot of time with Phil (the villain) who pursues our survivors hell bent on revenge for an imagined reason because...well, because apparently there just isn't anything better to do when you're the villain and all of your victims have been eaten by zombies.
And, at the end of the last book hero #1 and crew accepted an ATV and a GPS from Phil, because apparently being a paranoid (trust no one!) sort of prepper just didn't prepare us for the thought that taking a tracking device from the enemy might allow him to track us. Yeah. Okay.
Combine that with the tedium of a character who has become dead weight and hero #1 and company aren't doing so well.
Hero #2 is doing even worse. He spends a quarter of the book swimming in the ocean. And we meet some more bad guys. At least they were probably bad guys (this just seems to be a shoot first and ask questions later kind of world.)
And did I mention the hurricane? And, of course, there are still zombies.
This book should've been better than it was. It needed less Phil and more character development.
And, since it is now January 2017, I should point out that the book ends short of reuniting our happy groups because the author intended to have book 4 out quite some time ago. And, apparently there is still no book 4. So, nothing ends. It just stops.
If it had ended with our groups resolved and ready to face the unknown future together, I would've probably still given it 3 stars. But, for just stopping and leaving us hanging for over 2 years, I should probably knock it down to 1 star. I hate cliffhangers. Either you've made a world that readers want to come back to or you haven't. Finish your story and trust your readers to come back for more.
(If you sign up for the author's newsletter, you get a short story that explains where Paige comes from. It was worth a read.)
I thought this book was good, it was about a group of men in the army, that have to rescue another group of men in an under ground building. When they first arrive in Africa, the men set up camp for the night. They go searching for the building the men where in , this strange creature jumped out from inside the bushes, Sean, the main character, asked the strange creature its name, It gargled at him, Sean repeated loudly whats your name, The creature attacked Sean and immediately Sean pulled a gun and shot the thing in the head. After it died, Sean terrified, stabbed the thing until the brain matter and blood was all over his body. As they walk into the building, it reeked of burning flesh and hair. Read the book to find out more.
I got this book for free from the Author in exchange for a review. This is the 3rd book in the series and boy was it intense, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would recommend that you read the first 2 books in order to follow the story along and get to know our characters better. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time and decided that maybe its not the best book to read before going to bed. It had lots of action and left me wondering what will happen next. I like the characters, and lets just say I want Turk or Sean to be by my side if we ever are overrun by Afflicted. A great series not to be missed.
