The Jaide Heist

Rate this book
The big score Tessa Seavers counted on to pay her rent for six months is a worse mistake than stealing for a living. Her ticket to the riches turns out to be a new experimental party drug known as Jaide. Thrown into a high stakes game of life and death, she only knows one person she can turn to, the man who’s been pursuing Cover Action Team agent, Jack Daimon. In the end, she figures better his chains than her casket. The last person Jack Daimon expects a call from is the beautiful thief he’s been chasing for four years. That’s she’s in trouble doesn’t surprise him. What she carries in an ornate little box does. Any solid information surrounding Jaide and who’s distributing it has eluded CAT. In the space of one evening, Tessa managed to gather more intelligence than the entire secret agency. Now he has to convince her to set aside the only way of life she knows in favor of helping them stop a deadly drug from makings its way into the hands of others.

First I'd like to say that I given this book by the author and also the my first book I've ever read from her. I was surprised because it's been a while since I've read a suspense/spy novel. I stopped because I am a romance girl, mainly historical regency and highlands, and with the few suspense novels I've read the mystery seemed to consume the story with very little romance. I will tell you this book is short so it doesn't allow too much time to build up but it does deliver. You get to see the couple interact, feel the spark between the two, and see the two in action.

The general feel of the book was playful and cute.Tessa Seavers is this carefree petty thief and stumbles into more than she bargains when she steals a box from a party she's coned her way into. She has been warned before to be careful luck will not always smile at you but lucky for her she has a Covert Action Team agent in her back pocket.

Jack Daimon is a pre planner and very good at what he does. One night he is roused out of bed to a screaming Tessa who is being pursued by several angry men. I loved the little clash of personalities and the h approach to picking pockets. I would have loved to see the two in a full length but am happy with what I got. There is sex in the book for those who are not attracted to this in a book but it is not over done and IMO just whet my appetite. If you are in the mood for a short, fun read, which is sometimes just what I need, this is a good book. It takes off right from the start and the couple together are playful and fun. I would have given it 5 stars but it was hard because I really wanted the story to be longer.
