Barabas meent dat hij op het punt staat om Suske en Wiske terug te halen, maar dan gaat het vreselijk mis en lijkt alle hoop verloren. Lambik gelooft dat het zijn schuld is dat Suske en Wiske op Amoras zitten en hij besluit om tot actie over te gaan. Maar de raadsels stapelen zich op en hij geraakt niet wijs uit alles wat hij op z'n weg vindt. Tot hij eerst Jérusalem ontmoet en later Wiske weerziet. De toekomst ziet er heel even minder somber uit, tot Wiske een verschrikkelijke ontdekking doet.

Het blijft leukig, maar wat mij betreft mag er nu wel een eind aan gebreid gaan worden. Dit deel was duidelijk het minst tot zover; Jerusalem wordt steeds irritanter, Lambik is z'n eigen idiote zelf, en Wiske is weer heerlijk naief en meteen klaar om te oordelen. Vond het kleine backstory'tje hoe Hemlock en co bij Krimson aan zijn beland wel leuk, maar..de serie begint zijn luister een beetje te verliezen. Ik hoop dat deel 5 het tempo weer wat oppikt. Jerusalem mag trouwens ook wel ophouden met iedereen af te maken, zo ondertussen weten we wel dat ze een sociopathisch snertkind is.

Warrig, veel actie die de plot nauwelijks vooruit helpt, geweld om het geweld en om provocatief te zijn... Haalt nergens het niveau van het eerste deel. Wellicht was er een deal met de uitgever dat er 6 delen moesten komen omwille van het financiële risico, want anders kan ik geen redenen bedenken waarom het verhaal zo lang wordt uitgesponnen.

I think it would be pretty impenetrable if you weren't at least vaguely familiar with Suske and Wiske, and also with the previous three volumes of the series. Here, Lambik, Suske and Wiske's adult friend from the present day, zooms forward to the year 2047 to try and save them from the evil Krimson and other dangers. He runs afoul of the mysterious deaf girl, Jérusalem, who is becoming a much darker and more dangerous figure (and darkening the story as a whole). Lambik actually attempting to be useful for a change, but being thwarted by external factors and by his own character flaws, turns out to be quite an effective story. Otherwise the rest of the plot doesn't advance all that much, and I'll just have to go out and get the last two volumes.

Deel 4 van 6 afgerond: ik weet niet goed waar het naartoe gaat. En net zoals bij de vorige delen: het grafische blijft agressiever dan we van Suske en Wiske gewoon zijn, maar de dialogen kunnen beter.

( 3.5/5 stars! Vague, but fun! )

I'm doing this review in English, just out of habit. I read this comic (or should I call it a graphic novel?) when I was sick on holiday, and it was about the only think I could actually read without getting a headache. So for that matter, I might need to read this again since I read it a bit while I was half-awake, half-sicklish. But, well, this volume wasn't as good as the last one. I (quite unexpectedly) highly enjoyed the last one (I think it was called Krimson), and therefore my expectations were considerably high for this one. It was still fun to read, and the artwork is also still beautifully done, but this volume in particular was rather vague. Although I love my bit of mystery, this volume seemed to jumble it all together until it was impossible to really decipher what was going on. Also, yeah, it needs to be said that Lambik is weirdly creepy in this one, and it really pissed me off. It was my childhood-self protesting, because "the old" Lambik wouldn't act like the Lambik in this volume. I mean, no. Come on. Ugh. Writing about it even pisses me off again.

Still, the rest of it was a whole lot of fun. I like the dystopia-ish world, the mystery (when it's not making me light-headed because it's impossible to follow) and a lot of the conversations the characters have (especially Wiske sometimes, in the same blunt voice she had in the comics I read as a kid). So, yes, I enjoyed this a whole lot, and would've given it a star more if it weren't for the vagueness and creepy Lambik -bits. I'm also really curious to see it all play out (I think there are only two volumes left), as I've started to enjoy reading this series (and therefore would also still recommend reading it, even though it's very different from the "Suske & Wiske" comics I've read as a kid)!

Oh dear, it looks like every character is getting his/her own book. I'm still not overly enthousiast with the comic's progress and the huge amount of gratuitous violence and often questionable morality. As a child I loved S&W for its simplicity and naiveté; transferring this into an adult universe is not impossible and could result in interesting story lines, but this feels like a hideous exaggeration rather than a logical extrapolation.

Hopelijk brengt deel vijf wat meer actie en vooruitgang in de verhaallijn. Het wordt allemaal een beetje nodeloos gerekt omdat er zes delen in deze reeks zullen uitkomen. Dat zou mooi kunnen zijn, ware het niet dat er niet genoeg diepgang in de verhaallijn zit. Dit maakt het verhaal soms warrig, maar vooral langdradig. Desalniettemin blijf ik wel heel nieuwsgierig naar de twee laatste delen!

Nog altijd een 3 omwille van de volwassen versie van de stripreeks die ik als kind ken. Leuk vervolg op de vorige strips... Benieuwd hoe het zal aflopen! Wordt wel wat lang nu; hopelijk gaat het volgende deel iets sneller vooruit en komen we wat dichter bij de ontknoping.

Inhoudelijk vond ik dit niet het sterkste nummer tot nu toe: het verhaal mag wat mij betreft in de twee vervolgnummers die er nog zitten aan te komen, weer wat meer snelheid en actie bevatten; het kabbelde nu een beetje.

Het minste deel van de reeks tot nog toe. Maar het blijft wel intrigerend wat ze met de bouwstenen van de originele Suske en Wiske doen.

Traag en teleurstellend. Er werd in dit deel totaal geen vooruitgang geboekt, alles zat bomvol nodeloos geweld, en Lambik is ineens een pervert.

veruit de minste in de reeks. kan ook niet zo heel goed meer volgen eigenlijk... moet ze es allemaal van begin tot einde lezen als de reeks uit is, denk ik.
