What a short but sweet treat for Lila and Ethan fans! The perfect holiday read!

description

Lila and Ethan are taking a cross-country road trip together for the past month, and are just really relaxing and enjoying their time together. If you’ve read The Temptation of Lila and Ethan, then you know all the obstacles these two had to overcome to be a couple. Though they’re together now, both still have their doubts.

“I just want to make sure that I have you forever…that you and I, that this will never change because I don’t want it to change. I love being with you Ethan. Even when I’m filthy and smell like a garbage can.” - Lila

“I’ve been through too much – seen too much with my parents – that I get what comes with wanting someone so much. I’d basically be opening myself up to anything, even heartbreak.” - Ethan

In this short but full of heart novella, Lila and Ethan face their lingering insecurities and move forward as a more stable and stronger couple. Steam, emotion, and love all in one!

ARC received on behalf of Forever (Grand Central Publishing) from NetGalley.

A special little treat for all of us Lila & Ethan fans, a novella of their journey to a future.

A few months have passed since the end of Ella & Micha’s story and Ethan & Lila set out on the road trip that Ethan has always wanted. Ethan never wanted to be tied down, he never wanted to imagine his future. Living one day at a time, no responsibilities and no way he would ever end up like his parents. But that all changed when he met Lila, when he saved her, when he found something that he wasn't ready to let go of.

Lila has lived in the skin of someone else for far too long. She is finally able to be who she wants to be thanks to Ethan showing her that who she was, was worth something. Lila doesn't’t need the ring and the wedding, she just needs to know that what she has today will be there tomorrow and the day after that. That the man she loves feels the same way.

There is just something about these two that I fell in love with. It could be that I was ready to move on from Ella & Micha and they were just in the right place at the right time, or it could be that they were the perfect mix of put-together-broken that I adore. Both Ethan & Lila seem to have their acts together. Ethan knows how a life can turn ugly and has tried to avoid it his whole life. Lila was the poster girl for false perfection, but damn she wore it well.

As these two spend the nights under the stars and in each other’s arms they force each other to see something beyond today. Jessica Sorensen could have done the easy thing and given us a fast paced dash to the finish, but she did this perfectly. She led them from their beginning just simply to a ‘tomorrow’ all the while ensuring that characters stayed completely true to themselves. Two supporting characters turned into main characters, who at times outshines Ella & Micha.

Lila and Ethan: Forever and Always (The Secret #4.5) by Jessica Sorensen

I found this book in my NetGalley folder, that I forgot to read.

So as you can guess I didn't read The Temptation of Lila and Ethan (The Secret, #3), which should be read before this one.

I looked around read reviews trying to get an idea what I was attempting to jump into, its like eating cake without the icing. What I really enjoyed this time was no cliffhangers.

Lila and Ethan's story was a fast read, these seem to have some communication and commitment issues, but once they work past that its a great little story. I actually may go read The Temptation of Lila and Ethan just to get the whole picture.

I really enjoyed what I have read so far and have rate this story 4 stars, and of course I have to mention that Jessica Sorensen again is one fantastic author/story teller.

This is going to be a short and sweet review for this Novella.

This book picks up where book #3 of The Secret series left off. Lila and Ethan, friends of Ella and Micha, have been dating for a few months. Ethan is struggling to come to grips with the reality that he is in a relationship because he just doesn't do relationships.

They have gone on their trip. They have been camping in the backwoods and living off what little savings that could put together.

The trip has been an adventure.

Lila is struggling to understand what is going on inside of Ethan's mind. He continues to journal but he doesn't want to share it with her.

Lila must make a decision about their future together. Can she be with Ethan if there is no hope of commitment? Can Ethan even begin to think about a future with Lila?

This short and sweet novella gives us just a taste of their story. I wouldn't read this if you haven't read The Temptation of Lila and Ethan. You definitely need the back story. If you have, you will definitely appreciate this book. The fact that it's free is a total bonus! Thank You Jessica!

My only complaint... I wish it was longer. I adore Ethan and I think he and Lila are adorable together. There are a few swoon worthy moments, some angst and some serious steam. I think everyone will enjoy this little teaser!

This's the most beautiful gift J.Sorensen could ever give to me for Christmas. But I'm not sure I'm fine, right now. I've read this novella right after I've devoured The Ever After of Ella and Micha (and their short holiday scene Jessica wrote) and... I mean, it is really over now, like over over , this beautiful series... I don't know, maybe I'm going to cry. Just a little bit. A very little bit.

How do you know when someone is right for you, especially if the only real exposure to a “lifelong” commitment came from watching your parents and seeing how unhappy they were? Ethan wants no connections, nothing tying him down, but his best friend, Lila wants to know where they stand, what their future is. Can he give her the promise of forever that she needs? Is he ready to risk their friendship on more? Is he ready for her to walk away and find love elsewhere? He bares his soul in his journal, but is he ready to bare it to Lila?

Lila and Ethan: Forever and Always by Jessica Sorensen fills each page with emotion, drama and an intensity of feelings that does not short change her readers! It’s amazing how much mental turmoil was exposed and hashed out in this novella. A wonderful “personal” look at these two characters.

Oh! When will these kids learn to express their feelings in a healthy way called... communication. It's a novel concept.

Ethan and Lila's dilemmas are very similar to Micha and Ella's maybe that is why they are such good friends.

Lila and Ethan are experiencing their lives together but have fears of the future. Lila wants commitment and Ethan fears commitment due to his dysfunctional family but once he takes a good look at his life he realizes that Lila is his forever.

Sweet little story with Lila and Ethan's forever and always.

“She’s the person I love more than anyone else in this world and if I have to open my eyes for a moment, and look forward, all I see is her.”

Well...That was short :D TOO short if you ask me!!! I needed more...

It’s a great end of the series. I loved Ethan and Lila. They are such a cute couple. I will truly miss them ;) But I’m really happy they found their HEA!!

It’s a cute and steamy read which totally made me smile at the end ;)

“I want this to be permanent. I want Lila and I to be permanent. Forever and Always.”

I got this for review last year and didn't read it right away for two reasons: 1) I had just read Violet and Luke and felt like the characters were recycled from Jessica's other book, so I didn't end up liking V&L at all; 2) it's a novella, so the first reason kind of scared me away even more.

However, I have read 2 Sorensen books and really enjoyed Lila and Ethan back when so I figured that I would love this too.. But no. I'm sorry, you guys! I almost DNF-d it, but since it was a review book, I figured I could get through a novella. Success on this account! I've had the worst luck with her books since I really don't get them. I find them a tad on the boring side and the characters are so ordinary that they get easily lost for me in the sea of other New Adult characters.

What Sorensen has going for herself is her strong fanbase who craves for tortured characters with dark pasts and decisions to make in order to become better and brighter. And even this short novella is like that. Lila obviously hasn't let go of her complex of being left alone by everyone and now she's worried about Ethan leaving her too. I mean, ok. Maybe the circumstances are different than usual, but still! You're so young! Anything can happen! Don't put a time limit on things. Even if it's forever you seek. Always such a downer, Lila. (Though the girl has gone through a hell of a lot, so it's somewhat understandable.)

To be honest, I didn't really get the point of this novella. I read a post by Paula Stokes on Sam's blog on how to write a novella and while Lila and Ethan: Forever and Always had all the elements, the topic was completely unnecessary. I rolled my eyes and was bored throughout most of it. And that's not why I wanted to read this at all! I was waiting to love these characters that I grew to like in their full novel, but nope. Instead the only thing I felt was annoyance.

The thing I actually liked in this novella was the sexy, but unfortunately that couldn't save this novella in my eyes. I'm now more than sure that, as much as I'd like for this to not be true, Sorensen's books aren't for me. Nothing stands out and I'd rather spend my time exploring something new and possibly amazing than satisfy myself with "meh, it was okay-ish" reads. (In my eyes.) We all seek for amazingness when it comes to our hobby of reading, but since these books aren't for me, I'm going to leave you all to fangirl and hopefully love these stories.

Overall rating: 1.4 out of 5.0

5 FOREVER AND ALWAYS STARS

I have loved Lila and Ethan since the first time they appear in The Secret of Ella and Micha. They always had that connection and further we got to know them in their own book The Temptation of Lila and Ethan, the further I came to love them as characthers.

In this short novella, which I really didn't like because I felt like I wanted to be reading about them forever, the author show us how the relationship that Lila and Ethan have is tested when the future doubts come in.

description

The books take us to the roadtrip that Ethan has always wanted, but this time with a new element he wasn't expecting, Lila. Sharing new experiencies and feelings on the road together, when the time to head back home comes, the incert future thoughts get in the way of this couple. One wondering and fearing about what the future could bring to them; the other, not used of thinking about compromising and future plans.
Either way, Ethan and Lila confront what both fear together.

description

Every conversation with her, good and bad. Every moment, light and dark. I want to relive it over and over again. I want so many more moments and conversations.
I want this to be permanent. I want Lila and I to be permanent.
Forever and Always.

The end is something that many may find too open, but I found it just perfect for their story, eventhough I wanted something romantic HEA explicitly. The end is just realistic and real-life honest, the future is not always clear and it's changing with every decision we make, so Lila and Ethan may not know what the future will bring, but they will make sure to work through it so they can spend the rest of their lives together.

I wished it had not been such a short story . I love Ethan and Lila together, they are by far one of my favorite couples,I hope we get something else from them <3

I have loved Lila and Ethan from the beginning and had always hoped they would get together and yay they did in The Temptation of Lila and Ethan. This Novella was great it was fun to see them together without all the drama (not that I mind the drama) but it was nice to see them enjoying life and their cross country trip together. I really fell in love with Ethan's character in this book, we get to see/feel what's going on in his mind, see his fears, concerns and absolute love for Lila. There is a great moment between them when he realizes what life without her would be like. Because their relationship feels like it is in limbo Lila has a few insecurities about the future and their relationship. I love how she is not a whinny character, she holds it in but with gentle coasting by Ethan they finally communicate about how they feel. And the ending ah, it was so sweet, and yes there are some pretty hot moments as well.

This is short and this is sweet, but that is ok, because for all the drama Lila and Ethan have endured, this was perfect.

Thank you Jessica Sorensen for giving a straight up quick glance into life with Lila and Ethan and a promise of a long happy life together. For once there was no darkness, no drama, no miscommunication. These two have already been there and done that. I loved how much Lila has grown up and how the simple life, as long a Ethan is by her side, makes her happy. I also love that Ethan has truly opened himself up to Lila and let her into both his mind and heart.

So for Lila and Ethan...Always and Forever is the perfect etching for them to carry on with!

Very very short novella, story takes place at the tail end of Lila and Ethan's road trip. I guess it was ok but geez 51% and fade to black. It was free for good reason, as it's just a snip it of time discussed but I guess I didn't really understand the point? I liked their story so I guess selfishly I wanted more. Just a very quick read that even for those that loved this series could pass on.

I thought this was a super cute novella. I found myself really getting into it and then it was done. Just like that..over...

It's about 40 pages. Yep, that's it. I wish it would've been longer, I could've read more. But, it left me with a smile on my face. I couldn't ask for anything more.

She glances up at me with her brows knit. “You want to split up and? Like you take the a and half the n and then I take the other half and the d?” she asks, and I nod. “Wouldn't that look a little weird?”
“Does it really matter if it looks weird?” I ask. “It'd mean something to us and that’s all that matters, right?”
She considers what I said and then a smile breaks through. “I really love that idea.”

I was so happy when I heard about this because in their first book we didn't get a closure so I was curious how they will go beyond their limitations, mainly I'm talking about Ethan's fear of marriage.
The story takes place while Lila and Ethan are on their road trip which they planned in The Temptation of Lila and Ethan. It's their time together in nature, outside of the real world, it's just the two of them in their own little bubble. This whole trip was (of course) Ethan's idea but Lila is happy with it as well, which is a surprise considering she was a total snob (still likeable) before. The story starts on the last days of their trip.

Lila isn't sure Ethan and she want the same thing because whenever she brings up their future Ethan starts panicking, so she didn't even know if he can see them in five or ten years time still together, even married. She got more disappointed after they met with Ella and Micha who got married and are living their happily ever after. I can relate to both of them, Lila has a home where her parents ignore each other so she always felt alone until she met with Ethan, it's totally acceptable that she wants to be sure of their future. Ethan is from a home where his parents are always arguing so it's normal as well, that he fears of becoming them. Ethan realizes something bothers Lila but he is afraid of the future because he always imagined himself as a carefree man, who can go wherever and whenever he wants, he's just sure about one thing: he can't lose Lila.

This book is really short, still it is important if you want to know about Lila's and Ethan's conclusion. There are sad and cute and sexy parts in this book which will make you crave for more of these two. Sometimes I wanted to slap Ethan because he was such a dick , but he could be so damn sweet as well. Lila isn't sure in herself and this is so sad because there isn't anything wrong with her (or for the record with Ethan). I was rooting for them since their first encounter and in many ways I love them more than Ella and Micha.

The parts I loved the most:
- They can talk about everything, even if they don't have to confidence to talk it out immediately they will later.
- The tattoo. It was a little bit strange for me at first but it is perfect for them.
- Ethan's journal.

The parts I didn't like:
- Ethan was sometimes such a dick. When he told Lila about his going back home still he never invited her to go with him. What did he think how "super sensitive" Lila would feel?
- When I read it on my computer, I thought that it will continue, so we can see how they will go back to civilization but half of it was just a preview from The Temptation of Lila and Ethan. :( I was like... are you f*cking kidding me?

The story idea: 5/5
The realisation of the story: 5/5
The characters: 5/5
The cover: 4/5
All in all: 5/5

Thanks for reading my review, hope you enjoyed it. :)

**May contain slight spoilers for the preceding books in The Secret series. However, this is a SPOILER FREE review for Lila and Ethan: Forever and Always**

Well, since this was a very short novella for Lila and Ethan, this is going to be a mini review. I loved Lila and Ethan's story in The Temptation of Lila and Ethan. They're one of those real couples, you know one where you can actually believe their situation. There's no alpha male, there's no billionaire, there's no heiress, there's no business mogul, it's just two best friends turned lovers who live day to day on their earnings. Just like in The Temptation, this novella is told in dual POVs. Thank goodness for that, because I need to be in both of their heads. Ethan is so sweet and sometimes vulnerable, and Lila is so pure and beautiful.

"What the hell happens between now and then I'm not so sure. But do I even need to be sure about that yet? Maybe I only need to be sure about one thing. And that's her and I always being together."

Lila and Ethan are on the last few nights of their great road trip. Ella and Micha got married, and Lila and Ethan saved enough to be able to go on the road for a while. But, as we all know, as one thing ends another thing begins. For Lila and Ethan, they aren't sure what is going to begin when this road trip ends. There's a bit of miscommunication on both ends. Lila isn't sure if Ethan is still going to want to be with her after this trip, for an extended amount of time at least. Ethan knows that no matter what, he wants to stay with Lila. He just doesn't know how to say it to her. He also still has a fear of getting married and becoming like his parents.

"He's the only person who's ever fully understood me. The only person I've ever trusted. The only person who saw who I really am and the potential of what I could become. He loved me in a way that I thought wasn't possible and that's what I keep telling myself over and over again..."

I felt like we saw more character growth with Ethan this time around, instead of Lila. Lila just needed some reassurance from Ethan on what would happen to them after the trip ended. Ethan had to figure out what he wanted and how to express his feelings. All in all, I thought it was a cute way to end their story once and for all. Well, I say cute but they still had those steamy scenes that are awesome in a way that only Jessica Sorensen can write them. They're a simple, every day couple deeply in love with each other. So, they had a simple ending. I was satisfied with the way things ended, but I'm still sad to see The Secret series to come to a close.

"Every conversation with her, good and bad. Every moment, light and dark. I want to relive it over and over again. I want so many more moments and conversations. I want this to be permanent. I want Lila and I to be permanent. Forever and always.”

This short, FREE(!!!) novella (it’s around 80 pages) was a sweet, heartfelt ending to Lila and Ethan’s story. I really enjoyed reading about them this time around, and I connected with them much more in this book than in The Temptation of Lila and Ethan. Was it a perfect ending for them? No, but it’s real and honest. Not everyone in the world gets to have a happily ever after, but for people like Lila and Ethan, they’re sure going to try their hardest to have one.

Lila and Ethan are finally on the road trip they wanted to have, and even though the book starts off near the end of the road trip, we get the sense that the time they spent together was perfect.

When I was younger, and pictured my road trip, I’d always pictured doing it myself. But then Lila entered my life and things sort of shifted when I fell in love with her–because being alone didn’t seem as appealing as being with her.

But… now that their trip is nearly over, Lila is worried. About the future. About their future together. Because what if in the long run, Ethan won’t want her anymore? While Ethan is more of an in-the-present kind of guy, Lila likes to think about the future. But all she really wants is Ethan. She doesn’t want a proposal or a marriage right this second, but she wants the security of knowing that Ethan might someday want that, or at least want a future together.

Lila unintentionally plants seeds inside Ethan’s head, and now he’s thinking about his future, and their future, more and more. He’s against marriage, but when he looks at the future, all he sees is Lila. These two are it for each other, but I liked seeing this aspect of their relationship. They don’t know what will happen 5, 10 years down the road, but they’re hoping that they’ll still be together.

Every conversation with her, good and bad. Every moment, light and dark. I want to relive it over and over again. I want so many more moments and conversations.
I want this to be permanent. I want Lila and I to be permanent.
Forever and Always.

I liked how there’s not a definite ending to this book. Their future may be unclear, but Lila and Ethan know that can get through anything as long as they have each other. Their story is realistic, but filled with the promise of a happily ever after. It’s a bittersweet ending to this series, to Lila and Ethan’s story, and even Ella and Micha’s, but Jessica Sorensen leaves us knowing that Lila and Ethan will someday get their forever and always.

Lila and Ethan: Forever and Always was a short but extremely sweet story that takes places during Lila and Ethan's month-long camping adventure. Lila isn't looking for marriage, but she is scared that Ethan doesn't see her as part of his future. She's afraid that she could lose this wonderful relationship they've cultivated at any time. Ethan is afraid of him and Lila turning into his parents and making each other miserable. He loves Lila but has no interest in marriage. When it seems like Lila might be thinking of other possibilities for her future, possibilities that don't include him, Ethan realizes just how much she means to him and how he couldn't bear not to have her in his life... forever.

I love the dynamic between Lila and Ethan and this story was no different. They face very different obstacles from Ella and Micha and tackle them in different ways. I enjoyed seeing them both open up about their dreams and plans and talking to each other about how they fit into their futures. Lila and Ethan have smoking hot chemistry and this short did not skip on the lovin'. The physical and emotional pay off was delicious. While I am sad about how short this story was, it left Lila and Ethan in an organic place and gives readers hope about the state of their relationship in the end.

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever Yours (Hachette) for providing an ARC copy of this book!

Ooh...I want more

You know how sometimes you just want a little more about a couple after a story is done? Well, Sorensen comes through and gives us just that for Lila and Ethan. This story takes place after The Temptation of Lila and Ethan and The Ever After of Ella and Micha so make sure you have read thos books first.

In five little chapters we get a glimpse of Lila and Ethan's long anticipated road trip which takes place a few months after I really enjoyed seeing how they spent their time together. Lila's transformation from snobby little rich girl to a lady living in the wilderness made her more endearing. Ethan, at some points was annoying me. I wanted to shake the boy and say, "this is your life and you can make your own future, so do it." The great part was I loved seeing how everything came together in his mind.

This short story was great and I really came to love Lila and Ethan as a couple. This was defintely worth the read and right now I have seen it as a pre-order for Christmas Eve and the price as of yesterday was $0.00. Yep, maybe it's gonna be a little Christmas present from Jessica to her readers.

Lila fragile e dolcissima, Ethan protettivo e appassionato...
