I already enjoyed Book I (The Beginning) in the series, but I must say I loved Book II even more. I feel it is here that the author shows what magic she can really weave. It’s astonishing how deep her insights into the human mind are, and how masterfully she picks up all the threads introduced in the first book to weave them together into a captivating story.
I can’t say much about the plot without spoilers. We finally get to see that things aren’t nearly as rosy as the heroine Gina had us believe in Book I. Slowly the world around her and the defenses inside her crumble, and this all seems very authentic and emotional. I couldn’t help but feel for her while at the same time seeing all my suspicions confirmed. Vladimir creeps me out, but I totally understand his appeal to Gina. Carly Compass shines a different light on the family and friends of the heroine, and she exposes and criticizes society in general.
I love books that make you think, which is probably why this one had me hook, line and sinker. There is so much depth to it all, so much drama, so many hidden facets to the characters. It makes me think the author has extensive knowledge to fall back on, and done amazing research.
If you enjoy stories that touch on taboos, that are full of conflicts and that don’t shy away from controversies, then you’ll love “Consummation”. I certainly did, and I can’t wait to read Book III.

It is rare for me to read books by the same author in quick succession but I found the main character, Gina, very compelling. Having recently read Book 1, The Beginning, I thought I knew what to expect. A delightfully gentle story and about an ordinary American housewife living in a small town. Certainly there were hints of menace but the author carefully constructed a strong, sympathetic character, struggling with day-to-day life. For a Brit this was an enjoyable peek into American life.
I expected Book 2 to continue in much the same vein and could not have been more wrong. With the same care and attention, Gina’s life is deconstructed. The gentle pace of the first book is strongly contrasted by an avalanche of illness, an affair and deteriorating relationships. There were even a couple of occasions when perhaps events were too fast paced but at the end of the book I was left hungry for more.
For a second book about one charecter, Book 2 was a fresh and surprising read. Cheers

The story of Gina's life continues, readers are going to find themselves liking and worrying about Gina as she tries to live her tumultuous life. Raising kids is hard, but she loves her kids. However dealing with a husband with an uncertain attitude is tearing Gina apart. Her boss Vladimir would love to take Gina away from all of that, unfortunately he is also married and the chaos of dealing with that has Gina leaving her good job because of it. This is the second book in this story. The author does a great job of telling a real life story and how all of us have things we deal with day to day. Real life is not glamorous and sometimes not rewarding, we all have to live it and the author tells an amazing story of the struggle.

Gina returns and is just as busy as before.
This time around we learn new details about Gina's life.
Always trying to be on top of everything and giving her children the type of life she wished she had.
Things with her boss Mr.Vladimir escalate and get even creepier yet nice in a weird way.
We learn a lot of Gina's not so great childhood.
I don't want to give details, so you have got to read to find out what happens in this story..
You will be surprised!!
Very fast read! Enjoyable!

Things continue in this book and Carly is doing an AMAZING job. I LOVE this series and can't put it down. The temptations, keeping up with the family, doing everything you can with what you have, trying to fit in where you don't, I almost feel a part of the story. Gina does it ALL and practically by herself. She has to beg for help. I can't wait for the next installment.
