About the author

Justin Hayslett is the co-founder, alongside his wife Alaya, and managing director of Legacy Refuge, a global nonprofit dedicated to seeing every orphan come to faith in Christ, heal from trauma, and live healthy, productive lives. With a passion for missions, leadership, and coffee, Justin has spent years pioneering initiatives that empower the next generation to say “yes” to God and serve the vulnerable. From launching Filtered Hope, a specialty barista training program for aging-out orphans, to equipping young leaders through Legacy Rising, he is committed to raising up a generation who will trade safety for a life of miraculous purpose.

Alongside Alaya and their five children, Justin has lived and served orphans across Europe, Ukraine, and Africa, witnessing firsthand the miracles that come from saying “yes” to God. His journey—from leaving behind a successful real estate business to moving to Ukraine during a global pandemic, evacuating orphans during wartime, and establishing ministry centers in multiple countries—fuels his bold message: life isn’t about playing it safe, but about embracing the miraculous through surrender.

Justin and his family currently divide their time between Minnesota, where they call home, their ministry center in Spain, where they’re building the next generation of orphan care leaders, and their global programs impacting orphans across the world—continuing to build a legacy of faith that inspires others to choose their own courageous “yes."

I would actually consider this comparable to David Platt’s “Radical” for the potential to change the Church’s mindset on ministry and missions. If the Church as a whole could get this book in their hands, it would lead to so many choosing to say “yes” to a more radical faith that would touch so many unreached lives. What a blessing. Thank you for writing this Justin and may the Lord continue to expand this legacy and ministry.
