THE ROCK STAR COWBOY by KC Klein

*I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I have to say this might be my favorite of the whole set! I started reading it and couldn't put it down! I love love loved the dynamic between Brent & DJ .. She definitely made him work for it and I loved every minute! I love a book that can make me laugh out loud and that was definitely The Rock Star Cowboy!! I'm pretty sure I highlighted almost the whole book .. definitely full of one liners and I <3'd it! I definitely wanted to slap Brent a few times! Great book Great read!!

SADDLE UP by Jodi Vaughn

*I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Definitely another great book! Its all about Derrick & Emily in Saddle Up.. Derrick is taken to the hospital by his sister DJ & friend Brent when he falls off of his horse the previous night while he was drunk. I loved the scene in The Rock star Cowboy so I was happy to see it in Saddle Up!!

I love how nervous Emily is when she sees Derrick.. I'd probably be the same way! Cowboys are my downfall! Emily has some things in her past that shes not ready to share and so does Derrick.. so Saddle Up is about two people essentially learning to trust again and fall in love. Great book!!

FIRE AWAY by R.L. Syme

First off I have to say I love foodie books so I was super excited to read this one!! Once again I loved this story!! Fire Away had the foodie elements that I love and a little mystery and a little more action then the previous two books. I caught myself yelling at Aidan quite a bit.. especially towards the end of the book! Fire Away is about second chances & first loves.. Wonderful book!!

To Save A Mate by Krystal Shannan

I loved Kara & Luke! Definitely a lot of tension between them.. it added a lot to the story. The romance took a while to heat up between them but once it did.. woah! To Save A Mate was definitely action packed & fast paced! Definitely a good read!

WONDER LUST by Lavender Daye

coming soon! Still reading it!

At first I was not sure about a set of books by so many different authors featuring basically the same town and characters, but as I continued reading I realized these authors have worked very hard and very well together to create each individually different story based in the small college town of Somewhere, Texas. I enjoyed each and every one of the stories in this collection and look forward to future releases.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Rock Star Cowboy by KC Klein
I loved this story. I laughed and cried. KC Klein did a wonderful job of making you feel like you were there and these people were your friends. I could feel the characters emotions. DJ is a strong minded woman who runs a ranch and Brent is a Country pop star who has moved into rock music. Their personalities seem to go together like oil and water but what you get is a really exciting romance. This is a great book. I look forward to reading more of KC Klein's books.

Saddle Up by Jodi Vaughn
This book told the story of DJ's brother Derrick and Emily. They both had trust issues. I really enjoyed how they worked through their issues. This was a really good book.

Fire Away by R.L. Syme
Aiden was married to Claire's sister, Jane, until she was killed. Jane's case had been closed without any closure on whether it was murder or suicide. Aiden and Claire haven't seen each other in years since her sister's death until the day he is arrested for her sister's murder. This is really sweet and clean mystery/romance.

To Save A Mate by Krystal Shannan
This is a story that involves werewolves. The story was a good story and the romance was sweet. I just don't really care for stories about werewolves.

Wonder Lust by Lavender Daye
I did not like this book. It was just weird. Not my idea of romance.

My favorite book out of the set was Rock Star Cowboy by KC Klein. Saddle Up and Fire Away were also great books. To Save A Mate is written well if you don't mind a book that involves werewolves. They should have left Wonder Lust out of this collection.

A wonderful love story; one that cooks slowly from stranger to friend to lover.

It always amazes me how an author can write a complete story in a novella; but Ms. Vaughn is able to give you the background of the two main characters so that you are able to understand their reluctance in keeping feelings locked up. But the good in people can't be locked away and through both physical and mental stumbling blocks friendship grows to wanting more, then finally letting go of their fears and admitting the jealousy rearing its head means that what they desire is more than just kisses but love.

The cowboy teaches the nurse more than just riding a horse but that love can be true. The nurse in turn teaches the cowboy that not all women are users and liars. So under the Texas skies love finally comes home.

"I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review of SADDLE UP" . I recommend this story as well as the others in this set of Texas Sunrise, especially if you love romance with kisses and hearts pounding then glorious love blooming.

I've only read The Rock Star Cowboy and if that's any indication this box set is going to rock no pun intended. I loved this story, but boy some of the things Brent did I would have killed him. This book had me laughing and crying. I highly recommend it because Brent redeems himself in the most romantic way possible thrown in with shenanigans you would come expect from DJ and Brent. I will add to my review once I read more.

Edit: I have also read Fire Away, here is my review: The suspense of the cold case involving a fire that made Aidan a widow is opened once more. Claire his wife's sister is back into town years after the fire. she becomes the only hope for Aidan to be cleared, but the closer they get more dangerous it is. I couldn't put this one down. I just had to know what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this one!

To Save a Mate: Poor Kara her life is going great she has everything, but one day can change everything. Kara takes blow after blow to the breaking point. Luke is at the right place at the right time. He always wanted Kara and now he has his chance just not like wanted to. Luke and his family are a pack of werewolves with everything Kara is going through how his he going to explain that little revelation plus that his hand was forced to start the mating process. The only thing the I felt was a downside was it felt a little rushed but I enjoyed this one. Can't wait to see what comes next on the series.

I can't believe I am saying this but...call the movers...Texas, here I come!!! Saddle Up, is the first book I read in this collection. The author, Jodi Vaughn, has pinned characters you want to know, you long to be on the ranch in the hot sun, along with Derrek and all the "boys". Emily, the heroine, taken advantage of by love and
afraid to love again..finds herself involved with a hot and sexy cowboy. Isn't it amazing how that can change a women's outlook?
Saddle Up introduces us to characters from the other books in the collection and I can't wait to get to know each one better! I highly recommend this collection. I am ordering a few more sets as
Christmas gifts. So join me in Somewhere,Texas and let's all Saddle Up!!!

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. My first read from Somewhere, TX books. This one is an anthology from5 different authors. Unlike other series I've read that take place in a small town, you actually "meet" other characters from other stories as you read.
The 1st 2 stories in this anthology are interlinked. The Rockstar Cowboy - Brent Kane grew up writing songs determined to be a star, leaving home after he graduated. He achieved his dream but has now lost his mojo. He's returned to Somewhere, to his friend's ranch to see if he can get it back. His friend's sister/partner is less than happy to see him. As he begins writing again, how can he tell the woman she is now, that he remembers the 15-year-old girl she was when he left, that he cares about her but doesn't know how a relationship between a stay-at-home rancher and an on-the-road star would work.
Saddle Up - Brent & Derrek went riding and drinking one night. Brent lost Derrick, who fell off his horse and got stepped on by said horse. Ending up in the hospital, Derrick overhears a conversation, his nurse needs a place to stay, and Derrick offers up the ranch. Emily has just moved to Somewhere to avoid the accusatory looks she'd been receiving, after her now ex-boyfriend stole prescription pads, forged signatures and was selling drugs. Now she's found out that the loan she cosigned for him, actually went through and as he's made no payments, she on the hook for the entire loan. And to add another problem, she reported her sleazeball landlord and he's kicked her out. She doesn't want to be beholden to Derrick, but she's run out of options. Now as Emily and Derrick get to know one another, can Emily solve her problems and find Somewhere is where she wants to be, with Derrick?
Fire Away - Claire Milton was taken from Somewhere upon the death of her sister years ago. She has now returned with a plan. One of the first people she meets is her former brother-in-law, who many suspected killed her sister, she never has. Aidan has kept his head down, isolated himself, but kept his job as a firefighter. Now that his father retired as the fire chief, it is only a matter of time before his wife's case is reopened. When it is Claire steps up to help him solve the case, no matter where it goes and no matter what might be found out about her sister.
To Save a Mate - Luke VonBrandt is running late for the full-moon pack run, when something/someone stumbles into the path of his truck. He realizes it's Kara McClure, the girl he's crushed on for years. Knowing she'll die without immediate help, he casts the ancient spell, marks her and in so doing gives her his strength to heal. Kara has just been notified that her parents have died, in her pain she seeks her boyfriend of many years; to find him in bed with her sorority sister/roommate, she stumbled from the scene and into the path of an oncoming vehicle. She wakens with no pain and is shocked. But there are so many more shocks and surprises to come.
A Month of Sundays (this is not the story listed) - Joe Walker needs a loan to get his bar up to code. The banks have declined to help. His friends are willing if he changes his ways. Joe once suffered from a broken heart, so now he tells women that he's available for one-nightstands, but he isn't boyfriend material. If he'll date a woman of their choice once a week for a month, he can have his loan. Krista Foley also suffered a broken heart; her solution was to spend her nights at home alone. She does however care about the towns children and wants to give them a carnival. The consultant she hired was clueless regarding available funds. So, she agrees to date Joe, for a month of Sundays (the day of the week that both the library and bar is closed), if he can provide the manpower for the carnival. So starts the "experiment" and the no-holds-barred honest conversations. Maybe it is time for both of them to let their hearts heal and move on, perhaps with each other.

I’ve always been a California Dreamin’ kinda girl, but let me confess – I would head for The Lone State in a heartbeat if any one of these cowboys were at the border. Welcome to Somewhere, Texas where just about anything can happen…and does. This is a “boxed set” of five novella set in Somewhere, TX. Each one is a delight to read, each one is just a bit (or a lot) different from the one before – and all are well worth the reading time. So let’s get started.

1. The Cowboy Rock Star by K C Klein

DJ (Daniele) & Brent were such a great couple. Both stubborn as mules. Brent had left Somewhere, TX to follow his dream of music. Now he’s at the top of the Country charts, a true Rock Star… and maybe a bit of that’s gone to his head. Right now he’s back home, trying to find his muse, his ability to write the songs that made him famous once again. Asking his best friend Derrick to let him stay on the ranch seemed like a good idea at the time. Even if it would put him right in DJ’s path.

DJ had loved Brent on many levels throughout her life. As her big brother’s best friend, he was always around, so her crush grew. On Brent’s last night in town, before he headed out for the bright lights and promises of Nashville they shared one kiss. One kiss that changed everything for DJ. And he never came back, not even when she needed him the absolute most, at her parents’ deaths. And here he is again – trying to pick her up in the local bar like some bimbo. Typical Brent.

I loved this couple. They had a lot of past to get through to their happy ending. An amazing story.

2. Saddle Up by Jodi Vaughn

Derrick (DJ’s brother from The Cowboy Rock Star) & Emily were such a sweet couple. Derrick fell of his horse and got kicked.. that night at the lake drinking with Brent. Seems boys will be boys. Dj and Brent found him the next morning and took him straight to the ER.

Emily has recently arrived in Somewhere, TX. She’s looking for a fresh start after her jerk of a boyfriend stole prescription pads from the doctors where Emily had worked. She did nothing wrong, but gossip spreads faster than the truth. She takes care of Derrick in the ER and there is an attraction between them. While still on duty she learns some nasty news from her past with the boyfriend that sends her reeling. He finds out that she need financial help plus she’s just been kicked out of her apartment. So being the nice guy that he is, Derrick offered to let Emily stay at the ranch’s bunkhouse til she got sorted out.

A very sweet couple. Some meddling by a she witch of a rich bitch but aside from that – just a fun, sweet cowboy romance. Really enjoyed it.

3. Fire Away by R. L. Syme

Claire & Aiden – Their love story began with a tragedy years ago. Aiden had been married to Claire’s older sister Jane, who died in a fire at her home. Her death was suspicious, and Aiden, who is a firefighter, was always the prime suspect. Who better to know how to set a fire and get away with it than a man who fights fires for a living. At the time, there wasn’t enough solid evidence to convict Aiden in the law – but oh, how easy it was for the townsfolk and Jane’s family to be convinced of his guilt all these years.

Ten years later, Claire has returned to Somewhere, TX. She and a partner are starting a business and she needs an amazing cake or cupcake from Meg’s Bakery to cinch the deal. Too bad that another person is also after that cupcake – Aiden, who is sitting in on the tasting for his sister. Claire has loved Aiden for years. Yes, he was her sister’s husband. No, he never really knew how Claire felt. But love was love no matter if it isn’t acknowledged.

As Claire and Aiden sit in a diner catching up, the local sheriff enters, and arrests Aiden for the murder of Jane. Claire will do anything to free Aiden and put the true killer behind bars.

This was an extremely intense story. The couple will fall in love along the way to solving this mystery. A very good read. Lots of suspects, but I didn’t see the ending coming.

4. To Save A Mate by Krystal Shannon

Kara & Luke.

College student Kara has had the worst day of her life. She discovered her boyfriend cheating on her with a sorority sister – and she has learned of her parents deaths while they were away on vacation. Kara is overcome with such grief, she is out running close to midnight when she stumbles and falls into the path of an oncoming truck. While she hadn’t planned on dying to escape this unbearable pain, death would be welcomed.

Luke has loved Kara for years. He’s know about her cheating boyfriend for a long time and was just waiting in the wings for Kara to discover what a scum bastard he really was. While racing to his family’s wooded property before the full moon rose, Luke sees something off to the side of the road dash in front of his truck. He hears the thud of a body being run over.

As he holds Kara’s dying body in his arms, Luke makes a decision. One he knew he’d always make when it came to Kara, he just didn’t expect to do it under this type of circumstance. Luke is a werewolf. Kara is his fated mate. He performs the mate bonding to save Kara’s life and prays that it won’t be the worst mistake of his life.

This novel was so enjoyable. And is also the first in another series within Somewhere, TX. The story tells of Kara’s adjustment to Luke, her grief and falling in love again – for life. I really loved their story.

5. Wonder Lust by Lavender Daye

Max & Delia. This is a truly sexy, and sex filled novel. If you’re not into even a bit of dominance and submission, then this one might not be for you. I enjoyed it, but this area of sex or sexual entertainment isn’t for everyone.

Max has a secret. Just a bit of one but his enjoyment of that secret got him fired from one college when he entertained the wrong woman. Now that encounter is biting him in the ass and the paycheck. He’s moved far from the lights of New York City to end up in Somewhere, TX – but he has to start over somewhere, and it is a job.

Delia is a college student at the college where Max will start teaching. She first comes across Max when he slipped into a booth for diner where she worked. The attraction started there.

Throughout this novel we discover Delia being slowly introduced into the world of bondage, dominance and more. Her trust and love for Max will grow through this time. Delia also has a stalker. There are touches of magic scattered about. You’d have to look for them, or be a reader of the paranormal to catch a word here, a feeling there, but I saw them and smiled as there is a touch of fae in Delia’s family tree.

I enjoyed this one. I found it to be not too over the top. I read erotica so nothing surprises me, but if you are new to the genre… well, only you can decide what you want to read. For me, I completely enjoyed their story.

*I received an e-ARC of Texas Sunrise Boxed 1-5 Set from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

5 novellas set in fictional Somewhere Texas building each story upon one of the towns inhabitants and their chosen romantic interest. Four of which are straight contemporary romances and the 5th tale, and 4th story, veers off the chick lit path into paranormal romance genre.

The entire collection may be from different authors but their style meshed well from start to finish creating an enjoyable read with the added benefit of the characters feeling like friends by the end of last book.

This is a fun collection of books set in the town of Somewhere, Texas. The authors manage to blend the stories so that by the end of the collection the characters feel like friends. Each of the stories is stand alone with the main characters from each book popping up in the other books in the collection. The stories are sweet, sexy, heartbreaking and funny.

Some of Books better than others

Overall liked them would have preferred slightly more at the end. Didn’t feel like there would be a HEA for some of couples. Especially the Rocker. He was going to leave and go on tour, she would stay on ranch. No way.

Overall, I will say I enjoyed the books in this set. I did not read the paranormal book, as I do not enjoy that genre. The books are all predictable with happy endings. I felt the first few in the set were better than the last book, but this set makes for a nice read on a rainy day. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received an ARC of SADDLE UP from Jodi to give her an honest review on her first romance book. Let me say, I'm normally not a romance reader....but I think she won me over. The story line was intriguing and kept me turning the pages. She gave me enough background on the main characters to understand who they were, and just enough romance without overwhelming and losing the plot. What's not to enjoy about a love story in Texas with a coboy right?? It was a great quick read that leaves you waiting for the next:) I can't wait for more to come from her!!

Awesome

Absolutely awesome! I found myself in a reading slump so decided to go to my fall back category of cowboy books. After reading a few that were good but still finding my attention wavering I started this box set. The first book pulled me out of my slump and threw me head first into Somewhere TX! Extremely well written with great characters and interesting stories this box set is definitely worth the buy and I can't wait for the next one!

loved this anthology. I thought, ok ....these will be novellas that I hope don't have any cliffhangers.
I was soooooo surprised. The stories were all inter related. They were sweet, love stories that fit together perfectly. I had no idea how well each of the authors wrote. I now have several new authors to follow. Each of the stories was complete.
Each had a happy ending. Each was inter related. They rocked. I cannot say enough about this anthology. Thank you I want to Live in Somewhere Texas

This story may have started out dark and heavy but with small moments of humor and a lot of patience, it ended on a sweetly satisfying note. The VonBrandts have captured my attention!
