IN ADDICTED TO A TEXAS COWBOY, Brand is a twenty-five-year-old hunk of a young man with a country drawl and a whole encyclopedia of country sayings. Yas is the owner of a trendy steakhouse in Port Arthur, Texas. She is shrouded with secrecy, like being a part-time dominatrix, always looking for a willing submissive eager to experience her special brand of pain and pleasure. It's not strange for a beef rancher and beef customer to cross paths, but the instant electric spark between Brand and Yas is shocking.

Zora is the only Black female in the state of Texas elected to the Office of Sheriff. She is the top cop in Jefferson County where Brand works on a ranch and Yas operates a restaurant. Zora is a country girl to her core, and she was the cofounder of the ladies and lassos Western clique for Black women. According to Zora, Black girls put the culture in agriculture. She desperately wants Brand to use his big baton to rattle her cage.

The two women have one thing in common, they both crave the BBC! An accidental death and a murder bring all three of them together. Unfortunately for the trio, there are opposing forces at work trying hard to outmaneuver them. In the end, will one of these women find summer lovin' with the Texas cowboy or will these strong Black women dominate this young man and turn him into a plowboy?

This Texas Cowboy sports cowboy hats, giant belt buckles and Western boots, whether he's competing in rodeos, working on the farm, or enjoying a meal at a restaurant. He rounds up cattle like a wrangler and protects the calves from danger. This cowboy prefers riding horseback, and he's no stranger to a cowgirl riding his bronco bareback. He's a cowpoke with a long stroke to complement his thick ranch rope.

I am choosing not to star this book because after reading it, I found that it wasn't what I was looking for at all. From the synopsis, I obviously expected spice but I assumed there would be a sprinkle of romance. All of my book besties know that when it comes to a cowboy romance that I am the person that will be screaming YES every time. This is one of the times that I will say I think I may have misunderstood the synopsis of the book because it was not a romance at all. If you like mess, this book will likely be your cup of tea.

The way the female characters were going after the MMC was very predatory. The woman in the beginning that was supposed to be his fiancé was awful. She literally saw a young man, found out he was a virgin, targeted him for that, and afterward discussed him in intimate detail with her Sheriff "friend," Zora. This same Sheriff friend uses that knowledge to proposition the MMC to trade a sexual encounter to remain a free man. Then there was the other female character, Yas, who invited the MMC to dine at her restaurant but then charges him for the meal. Once he mentions that he couldn't afford it she propositioned sex for food.

Personally (and this is just a me thing), I have found that most of the books I've read by men with a "romance" element have a certain type of writing style that doesn't really appeal to me. That was the case with this book. The way the male and female characters interact are definitely from a more masculine POV. It also felt that way for descriptions of the characters.

One thing in particular that stuck out to me was every female character's fixation on the anatomy of the male character. It was weird. The naïveté of the MMC and the aggressiveness of the FMCs was uncomfortable.

I'm not even going to speak on the weird character that acquired the ranch and somehow acquired the MMC. His whole storyline was one that just gave me the extreme ick.

Just because this book wasn't for me doesn't mean it won't be for someone else. Again, you are really likely to enjoy this book if you are looking for messiness and random drama. If you are looking for a cowboy romance, I would not suggest this book.

Now y’all know Mikah and Ernest never fail to bring the mess—and baby, this book was no exception! But whew, my heart truly went out to Brandon. All that man wanted was a quiet country life, just him, his cows, and his land. But instead? He kept getting dragged into chaos left and right. Every time he tried to mind his business, here comes the drama knocking like it paid rent!

I’ve got high hopes for him and Yas, though. I'm really rooting for them, and I need that situation to take a turn in the next book. As for J.C. and John? Whew, they can take a long walk off a short pier with ankle weights, and I said what I said. And Caroline… chile. I aspire to reach her level of delusion. Calling J.C. "Big Daddy" every other breath? IYKYK—and if you don’t, you definitely need to read the book!

All in all, I loved the story and can’t wait to see what wild ride the next book brings.

Erybody Fallin!

I’m very surprised that Jody was able to clear the room like this as an ending, while on Live too. I know this isn’t the end, but do I want to stress myself out again reading from Mikah and Ernest? I don’t know if my BP meds can handle this. And No, I don’t like Yas. I know she’s your MFC but not mine. Now according to what Roslyn wrote that Karen got her nosy hands on, she’s the “only” person innocent and I believe worthy enough for the gentleman, who is Brand. He’s deserves a good woman and she’s gone. Only if you bring a worthy, not horny, BDSM, woman for him will I read it. Ain’t nobody in this story worth him. I’m glad John getting da bizness.

what in the world

One thing for sure two things for certain it’s is always going to be a time in a Michah Reign book. Him coupled with Earnest Lee I found myself saying WTF more than a few times. Poor Brand, I just wanted to give him a hug. I can’t wait to see what part 2 brings.

What a wild ride

This was a really good crazy wild ride. The book never felt disjointed due to 2 ppl writing it. Everyone was scandalous. There were no innocent ppl in this book. There were definitely some that I wanted gone because I didn't like them. Welllll hopefully, they get there due in the 2nd part.

Now this book yall. Is wild. I did not know what to expect from this book. I was very much locked in. I found myself crying in some places, on edge with others, to clutching my pearls. If you want a book that will take you on a TRAIL RIDE. Read this asap.

Uh this is written like 3rd person // Third person just means the story is told from an outside narrator instead of the character speaking directly. And I couldn’t feel for because of that
