Feel My Love

Rate this book
Feel My Love is a fictionalized retelling in a contemporary setting based on the whirlwind love affair and marriage of the author's parents in 1969

Missy Colton still loves the husband she lost, and she sees him every time she looks into the faces of their four sons. Two years after Daniel's death, she moves her boys back to Oklahoma; her only plan to make a good life for her sons.

Lee Henry has only been home in Indian Prairie for a couple weeks, and is settling back into civilian life after several years serving in the Middle East. He has plans of taking over the family business and diving back into his love of country music by performing at the local bar a couple times a week.

A chance meeting before the blind date hook-up neither one of them knew about leads to a breathtaking romance that surprises both Missy and Lee. Missy can't understand why a young man like Lee Henry would have the slightest interest in a thirty-something widow with four children, and Lee commits himself to convincing her age is just a number, and he's not just a country boy looking for a good time. Suddenly, "forever" sounds perfect.

Not everyone is thrilled with their apparent love-at-first-sight, the most vocal being Thayne Bingham, Missy's little brother. Will his anger and unmitigated disapproval of their affair be enough to drive them completely apart, or will Lee convince Missy to take a chance on a country boy who loves her -- and her sons -- with all he is?

I absolutely love this book.
Lucky to discover it in my search for my favorite trope, Older Woman/Young Man - where I especially enjoy the wider age gaps. And this story has just that, a large age gap, great plot and engrossing main as well as supporting characters.

So delighted to find this author and have already picked up some of her other works.
And whether an author is religious or not, it seems to be a written rule to use the Lord's name when cussing, feeling exasperation, or any kind of emotion. So truly refreshing to discover this author does not partake in that.
And what a bonus to get "The Story of Hank and Maxine." After reading a fictionalized story based on the life of this author's parents, it was nice to read some actual facts.
Fantastic book.

Couldn't put it down!

I would give this book more than 5 stars, if that was possible. It's one of the sweetest romances I have ever read and I read a lot. This book is even made better by the expert Master level writing, the sweetest, and most emotional dialog, the scenes that play out like a movie in your head and to top it off, based on a true story. Grab this today you won't be sorry.

I bought this on a whim

I'm giving it 3 stars because of some mistakes I found in the book, not many but enough that I found them distracting. The thing that kept me reading it is the story is based on the authors parents , but an updated version. All in all a good distraction book to entertain for a couple evenings.

Well written and fluffy. If you’re not looking for anything too gritty and just want a good romance which will make you smile this is for you. The characters are likeable and believable, and the fact that it’s based on a real story appealed to me. I read GD when she wrote fanfics and I’m really glad she’s now a published author. Looking forward to reading more of her work.

What a beautiful story. I was touched so deeply by the love this couple shared for one another, and for Missy's children, that I found myself smiling and with tears every other page. I love a good romance, but never as much as when the issues that threaten to tear the couple apart do not stem from them -- this matter enabled 'Feel My Love' to shoot right to the top of my favourite novels list. *sigh*

I have to say: Oh my gosh! Who wouldn't want a love like this -- and a guy like Lee Henry! I'm tempted to read it again just to feel that love again!!

Gail's writing is fantastic. She certainly knows how to SHOW a story rather than have you sit there and listen to her writer's voice as she tells a story. With gentle ease, she pulls you into the story, and into the love, enabling you to feel what her characters are experiencing. I love that. I didn't feel the author's presence once. Just the characters and the love.

"Feel My Love" is the perfect title for this story, because I felt the love all the way.

And there's a bonus note from the author at the end, telling where she found the inspiration for this story, that also makes my heart melt.

Well done, Gail!

This book is excellent! Great writing. Great plot.

My daughter had read Feel My Love and said she loved it and I should read it.

I met Gail R. Delaney at the RT Convention in Dallas this month and she gave me some background on her book and how it is loosely based on the love story of her parents. I had to read it so I bought a copy from her.

I couldn't put it down. Such a beautifully written story from the beginning until the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good love story.

I can't rave enough about this book! Gail Delaney does an amazing job bringing these characters to life in a way that makes you laugh and cry with them. There's just so much heart in this, and how very touching to learn the real-life story that inspired this amazing fictional account!
