Fundamentals for the beginning fly fisher including tips on rod and reel selection, tackle and tying techniques, basic and advanced casting methods, and more.
I thumbed through this over a few days and read the interesting parts. Some helpful stuff but pretty basic overall. Duh... I guess that's why it's titled "Fly Fishing Basics"
Straightforward and to the point information without the long winded stories in other books on fly fishing. Don't let the brevity dissuade you, Hughes gives good, basic instruction in a format that is easily referenced.
The illustrations are also noteworthy. They are well done technical pencil illustrations that appear on nearly every page. The fly illustrations are amazing for pencil and the knot illustrations are actually clear and understandable, which is better than I can say for many other books.
