This is the first book of its series. For about a third of the book was getting the history of the business, its past teams and members, and how the woman, who was also the wife of one of the soldiers and business partner on the mission that went wrong.
A close friend of the woman and her husband decided the woman was not dealing with life and had closed herself off and needed a shake up. He found her and decided to prod her to get her back in the life of the living - by telling her to take the business which has been in hibernation since the mission that failed and almost daring her to get it going again.
The woman struggles, but eventually gets around to looking at the file the friend complied of the people to become her new team for the business. She visits them and within months, has started the business up and has a team assembled. However, getting them to all work as a team is another job, but knows once they all figure out how they can help each other, it will be worth it.
However, before training is finished, one of the guys (our hero) gets a call from an old flame (our heroine) regarding her sister and a cult that's moved into town. He knows he needs to go help them and tells the woman who owns the business and the team leader basics and goes back to his town.
What he finds is the whole town scared to do anything because the cult is overrunning everything including the law. However, the people running the cult are very careful and haven't crossed any lines - yet. As time goes along, the hero finds he needs help and convinces the team he needs them and this will help with their training. Our hero also finds himself still in love with the woman who was once his everything, but who turned her back on him and their relationship.
The plot for the series sounds very good and I can't wait for more information on the mission and the other team. It was a very slow start to the book, and when you got to the main story line, I was hoping it would move quicker. It did start to, but then fizzled and dragged along.
I still can't wait to learn about more of the back story.
