A Higher Education is a Harper Bliss short story I thought had gotten away from me, but whilst reading I recognized it so it must have been part of an anthology as well.

Bliss can think up some of the hottest sex scenes, this one included. Two academics meet at a conference and after a hotel mishap they are sharing a bed together (as one does). There is more to it, but with 42 pages I am not going to spoil the fun here. Go read it!

f/f Why choose the bed when you can fuck her against a tree

Crush on Teacher
Higher Education is a sordid story of a lustful former student and her teacher. It is a fast read, not because it is short but because once you start you wont want to stop as you race to the end, wondering what or who will get to the finish first....
Another great read from Ms. Bliss!

I received an arc copy of A Higher Education from Harper Bliss and Ladylit Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

Another great story by Miss Bliss! I really liked this take on the teacher/student scenario. Teacher and student are now both highly regarded professionals in Economics and it has been 20 years since Gail, the MC, graduated from college and left her professor crush behind. But now they are thrown together in the same room at an out of town conference so old feelings are bound to come up!

I liked how Harper didn't show her MC as some pushover who all of the sudden turns right back into the 20-something she was in college, ready and willing to do whatever it was the professor asked because of her crush. We are shown that even though some of those feelings remain, we don't stay the same people we were 20 years ago. Ever. And Joanne, the crush, has to accept that her feminine wiles and cockiness will not win over the now 40 Gail, who is not the befuddled and semi-shy girl from her Econ classes.

Another thing I really liked though, is that we get to see these two older women acting like be smitten teenagers again while still maintaining the poise and intellect of their years. The scene outside of the hotel with the trees? HOT!!! Made me wonder what it would feel like to actually experience the physicality of this scene.

Its refreshing to read work where the characters obviously grow up and change, like people do in real life. Gail and Joanne, while still feeling the spark from 20 years ago, accept that they are not the same people anymore, and rather we see them almost getting to know each other all over again so that they can appreciate what each other has to offer years later after gaining some more life knowledge. Rather than just the angst and drama of youth.

Well done Harper!

I found this short read really quite strange. The dynamic between the main characters actually made me a little uncomfortable. Joanne was so obnoxious that I couldn't get over it, and I just didn't understand Gail at all.

I can't really work out what I think about this.
I liked the premise and I liked Gail Ferguson. Gail is a woman who knows who she is despite being thrown back in to a 20 year old crush when she encounters her former professor.
It's a short story so I expected things to move along re: premise and story... but then... ok.. The sex scenes were just odd. That's all.

Cool

I wish the book was longer and went more into BDSM, but it was nice. It reminded me of my own teacher crush!

Imagine having a crush on your teacher then twenty years later, while attending a conference, you find yourself sharing a room with her, due to a series of events out of your control! That is exactly the situation Gail finds herself in with her former crush, Professor Joanne.

I found the set-up original and interesting. I liked that the story was so much more than a simple teacher/student hook-up. People change a lot over twenty years and a crush, just like a fantasy, can be very different than reality. The fact both ladies had to actually get to ‘know’ each other was great.

The first night they had to share a bed, to quote Gail, I found ‘highly arousing’! I could picture myself in the same situation the anticipation of wondering – will we or won’t we. And did they or didn’t they? I’m not going to say. The build-up to the grand finale was half the enjoyment of this short story, for me.

Of course there is sexual content, and that’s when the heat level goes from ‘highly arousing’ to ‘smoking hot panty melting erotica’. With that said the sex complimented the story and didn’t feel like it was thrown in for the sole purpose of turning up the heat.

My only complaint - it ended too soon! But that's the nature of short stories for you :)
