I really enjoyed this second book in The Always series, I wasn’t sure what to expect in this second book and wondered whether it would pick up on John & Amelia’s story or deal with other characters. I wasn’t expecting the coupling that Jae brought us but it totally works. We met Erica and Robert in Always as the people that were deemed a threat to John & Amelia’s marriage but what we quickly realise is their individual experiences has left them both broken.
Erica is still an oddball but is now in therapy and we begin to see through the tough Mistress Erica she likes to display. Erica is deeply troubled from her first sexual experience and this is what led to her appetite of seeking out couples to engage in play with. Robert is struggling to deal with the rejection by Amelia and you realise that he is really a lovely man with a lot of love to give, who just wants to meet the one. On a date with a colleague Robert catches the eye of Erica on one of her “recruiting“visits to the club and she approaches them with an invite home to play. When Roberts date calls off at the last moment he is so smitten with Erica he returns to her apartment and throws Erica for six when he has her breaking all her own rules.
Erica and Robert get caught up in a whirlwind of romance and hot sex that catches them both off guard but Erica feels she has to be honest with Robert about who and what she is and does and so invites him to her playhouse. Both of them have inner doubts about this visit but feel it is necessary to develop their relationship. Yet once again the playhouse is a scene of debauchery that again doesn’t turn out as expected by the couple visiting even is one of them is the house mistress. Robert leaves at Erica’s insistence and so the relationship seems to have failed.
Both are distraught but turn once again to the coping mechanisms that they used to get over John & Amelia, Erica is back to her usual tricks but seems to be more out of control than ever and Robert is back to drowning his sorrows and casual pickups. Even though I was unsure about their coupling at first I was devastated for them that it hadn’t worked out as they definitely brought out the best in each other. Until Robert gets a call from Erica asking for help after her behaviour at the club has led her into the kind of situation she fears the most. Robert is there to help Erica pick up the pieces and they reveal to each other the feelings they still hold. But after the events of the night, is it enough or will they both remain broken?
Another brilliant flawless story form Jae Johnson, great characters that you feel a connection to and I loved catching up with John & Amelia in the epilogue. The preview of book 3 at the end of the book, which is again other characters from the series, sounds really good, looking forward to it already.

I loved this follow-up story to the book Always. In this story we get a better look into Erica's life and background. Always hanging out hope for John to return to her life and feeling down about everything until she meets the very sexy Robert. Robert totally up roots Erica's way of life and she begins to see that there is more out there in the world.

Jae has a beautiful way of telling a story by wrapping you in a big hug and not letting go until you read the last sentence. Her characters have such a real feel to them that you get lost in their journey and feel like you have a front seat to the entire story or that you could picture yourself as friends in their lives. This story is filled with super sexy moments, heartache and ultimately love and it has amazing flow to keep you going. In this story love conquers all and if you like a good love story with a HEA, then make sure you add this one to your collection today. I can't wait to read more from this fabulous author. She is definitely one to watch for in the future!!
