Fae Champions #2

Her Stolen Champion

Rate this book
All I wanted was to make it through one faire weekend without someone mansplaining metallurgy to me. Was that really too much to ask?

Jamie Braithwaite knows her way around fire and steel. As a Renaissance faire blacksmith, she’s used to the usual—forge a few swords, sell a few knives, impress a crowd or two, and maybe flirt with a cute barmaid between hammer swings.

But this faire? Yeah. This one went off the rails.

It started with a dagger getting stolen. Then a wild chase through the woods. Then… everything changed. Thrust into a realm of shimmering forests, political intrigue, and more magical nonsense than she ever signed up for.

As a prisoner of the Copper Court's petulant prince, Jamie is forced to forge magical weapons for a rebellion that is doomed to fail.

But the worst part? The dagger thief? Turns out she’s not just fae royalty—she’s the prince’s sister. And she’s infuriating. And clever. And kind of hot.

Jamie didn’t ask to be dragged into a war for power. She didn’t ask to start falling for a fae princess either. But here she is.

Trapped in a kingdom of secrets and shadows, Jamie will have to break free, or leave everything behind to forge something new in a world she never knew existed.

This was a really fun read, I loved the first book in this series, and I love that the second book continues in the same realm, continuing the political story that begins in the first book, though focused on different characters in another kingdom. The characters were likeable and had good development, the continued little additions to the lore and worldbuilding continued my fascination, the plot was good and went in a unexpected direction for me. I really liked this story.

Jamie is a blacksmith that makes historically accurate weapons and has a booth at the Ren Faire. When a stranger steals one of the daggers she's worked hard on, she chases after them and finds herself in another world. Turns out, this is what these strangers wanted, so they could have her forge weapons against other fae. But the Princess Orlana is worried about where this war will lead her people.

Excellent addition to an interesting series!

I didn't really like the first book, it was not horrible but the characters were a great deal more erratic in behavior, like the author couldn't decide what kind of people they were. This book is much smoother, the characters maintain their personalities and the sex scenes make more sense. From reading this book, I am happy to go to the third book of the series!

Book 2 of a sapphic romantasy series that finds us starting again at a Renaissance faire but this time we meet Jamie Braithwaite, the blacksmith. Jamie ends up chasing a thief through the woods and into the realm of the Copper Court where we meet fae princess Orlana. Things happen, people get taken, secret passageways, magic... it was such a fun read! Looking forward to this series continuing!!!

Jamiera Braithwaite - Jamie- is a blacksmith who crafts accurate historic weapons and has her own stall at a Renaissance Faire.
She loves her work and works steel like no other!
When a small boy steals one of her daggers she's worked hard on, she chases after the kid and suddenly finds herself in another world.
Princess Orlana is not a kid and not a boy, but she is the one that stole the dagger as evidence of the formidable work and Jamie’s talent. It all has a reason of course, a reason Jamie won’t like and will fight it if she can…

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the first book in the series, but I was able to follow the storyline.
It is a beautiful and quite funny fantasy story with a good pace. Nice world-building and very well developed characters. I liked Jamie and her strong, no nonsense attitude!
I liked the story and I’ll read the first book now for sure!
Thanks so much for the ARC!

I am full on shocked at how much I enjoyed this book. Based off the cover I wasn’t expecting much, but oh my god. Just like the main character, I was pulled into another realm of fae, magic and corruption.

The book is written beautifully. I really like the characters. There’s a clear power imbalance in that one is a princess and the other a blacksmith, and she also kidnapped the blacksmith… but princess orlana never treats Jamie with anything other than respect and fairness. Jamie stands by her morals and even in a world to which she has no loyalty she fights to do what’s right.

The romance builds at a reasonable pace, and by the end you are absolutely rooting for them. The side characters are well written, and their actions match their motivations. It’s a very good story full of intrigue and with so much room for expansion. I’m going to read book 1 and add this authors other books to my TBR. Excellent job.

Her Stolen Champion is the second book in the Fae Champions series by Luna Lawson. Although it's not strictly necessary to read the first book it is helpful, as it takes place just before and sets up the story, so you'll have a lot more information on the background of the world even though the characters are different.

While the first book takes place in the Autumn Court, our intrepid heroine (and skilled blacksmith) Jamie Braithwaite finds herself in the Copper Court, and I suspect we'll work our way through all the courts in the Fae realm as the series continues. I don't think this one was as spicy as the first, but I enjoyed it more. The story overall was much more consistent, and it was less scattered and had smoother transitions, and I really liked both Jamie and Princess Orlana of the Fae. I'll definitely continue the series to see where it goes!

I received a free ARC from Booksprout, but my review is unbiased and left voluntarily.

This is the second book in this universe and whilst it’s not completely necessary to read the first it is really helpful if you do.
Jamie is kidnapped from a Renaissance Faire and put to work in the forge to create iron weapons that will be infused with fae magic. Iron seriously harms the fae so she knows she is creating a weapon that can maim or kill. But refusal means death.
Worse still, the evil Countess from book 1 turns up and that’s never good news.
Luckily the princes sister, Orlana assists her in meeting a very tight deadline.
They forge an alliance and the story takes off. The copper court is as weird and orange as the Autumn Court and the worldbuilding is just as good. Also the ending sets up the next book perfectly. Will the Blossom court be a different colour? We shall see.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is my first Luna Lawson book, I really did enjoy this story about a princess fae and a mortal blacksmith. I been trying to read something a like bit different then i normally do so I really found the storyline really interesting. However while i did enjoy it and I love a long book, I feel like the story dragged out more than it needed to. I found that a couple times I felt like the same point was retold over and over again just in a different way. I think it could’ve been written much shorter or if its going to be this long then maybe more focus on some other characters and more events. I’m definitely going to check out some of her other books.

Another fantastic story

This series is awesome. I'm loving how each person is almost dragged into the fae realms and the humans end up helping their 'captors'. The story is mind boggling and so worth the time to find out why the fae are needing human help and then there's the amazing romance that comes out to play. The plot, the romance and the story are weaved beautifully together. I'm so glad and happy that Jamie got what she needed from being in the fae realm.

I just hope there will be more to this awesome series!

I love how this book starts off with the same premise as the first on in the series.

It’s a fun read with great pacing that sucks you into the world Luna has created.

If you like fantasy books with romance and love able characters give this one a go!

I would recommend reading the first one to have a more complete understanding of the second one but it’s not mandatory.
