CHiTs is a fast-paced military sci-fi novella that puts teamwork, trust, and leadership at the center of its story. I liked how Mark Taylor’s journey quickly challenges the idea that being strong and capable is enough to succeed. At the academy, he has to learn how to work with others, deal with pressure, and discover what it really takes to become part of a team.
The dynamic between Taylor, Kaydeen, Tonee, and Salayla adds another layer to the story, especially as they face demanding trials and personal tensions. The training setting also gives the novella an energetic and focused feel.
A sharp introduction to the Shadows of Peace universe and an enjoyable origin story for a team whose legend clearly has much more to come.
