Jackson Steele and Sylvia Brooks are back in the powerful finale of a provocative, sizzling-hot trilogy set in the world of J. Kenner’s beloved Stark novels: Release Me, Claim Me, and Complete Me.

He’s the only man I’ve ever loved, and the one man I can’t bear to lose.

Jackson Steele is my light in this world. Charismatic, bold, and always in control, he knows what he wants and how to get it—and absolutely nothing stands in his way. His hold on me is magnetic, his claim on me complete, his kiss my ultimate escape.

We both harbor dark secrets that could tear our lives apart. Though we’ve tried to bury our pasts, there are certain people who won’t let us forget. But the closer danger comes, the brighter the fire between us burns—our ecstasy consuming and soothing us both.

There’s no telling what lies ahead, but I know that Jackson never gives in without a fight. I’d do anything he wants to keep him safe, give him anything he needs. And now that we’re in deep, nothing can make me run.

"Whatever horror my mind would fabricate in dreams couldn't be any worse than the reality that now surrounds me. A reality in which the man I love desperately is suspected of murder."-Sylvia

description

Under My Skin is the long awaited conclusion of the Stark International Trilogy. We have seen Jackson and Sylvia face obstacle after obstacle and yet, through each trial they have been able to overcome! If you haven't read the first two books in this series, then I recommend waiting to read this review.

description

"Jackson is not a man to let circumstances get the better of him,and he is not a man who will let an injury go unavenged."-Sylvia

description

At the conclusion of the second book On My Knees, Jackson is facing jail time for possible murder, Sylvia has just discovered that he has a daughter, the business project they have together is in danger and the two are left in a state of limbo. Sylvia cannot help but fret over the future of their relationship. How can it be possible for them to continue living in the present when their future is so unknown?

"He is a man who protects what he loves, and I know with unwavering certainty that the two things he loves most in this world are his daughter and me."-Sylvia

Under My Skin doesn't waste anytime jumping back into the action. Although Sylvia and Jackson have always found a way to healing through sex, I am happy to report that these two finally found away to talk to one another. They formalize a plan to battle the paparazzi, law, and looming murder investigation. However, don't fret because the sexy time between these two is always smokin' hot!

description

"Decide how you want to play the game, sweetheart. But know that I'm only willing to play by my rules."-Jackson

As the plot develops, we witness Jackson growing closer to his brother and Sylvia coming to terms with possibly becoming a mother to Jackson's little girl. The internal struggles they both face are extreme. Jackson questions his ability to hang on to Sylvia because he doesn't know what the future holds. As Sylvia's secrets are revealed to the world, she battles with her desire to isolate herself and run from her problems.

"You're my miracle"

description

Overall, I would have to say the tempo in this book was slightly slower than its predecessors. The plot was well developed and yet, I was waiting for more to be revealed. It is the love that I have for these characters that kept me pushing forward! In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey that Sylvia and Jackson took together. The dual POV assisted greatly in this read as I wanted to thoroughly understand each character. Additionally, as I stated earlier, Jackson is one dominant lover and each moment spent with him is a moment well spent! I feel like the series as a whole has a complete story arc and I was very pleased with it's conclusion. The epilogue alone made this book worth the read. Who doesn't love a story of second chances? I am quite a fan of this authors work and I will certainly check out more from her in the future!

~BR with my girl Casey! I cannot wait for our next read together! Thanks for taking this journey with me!~

I don't even know where to begin to express how much I'm sad that this ends to be a huge disappointment.
I've loved the first book, the second was good even if to me it was maybe not enough. But with "Under my skin" it was nearly a disaster.

I almost DNF the book 3 times! Once around 53%, the second time around 70 % and the last time at around 92 %.
What truly ruined the book for me was Sylvia. For the majority of the book she whinges!
She is scared of losing the one she loves. She is still not sure of Jackson really loves her.... But please we are in book 3 now! And the guy never stops to show her how much she meant to him

description

Jackson has a lot on his plate and his priority shouldn't be Sylvia. But for her it was not so obvious. She was always so insecure about everything. She was even selfish when she was talking about her needs instead of his.

When you read a trilogy, you expect the main characters to grow together, to evolve in their personalities but it wasn't the case here.
As a couple, I'm not convinced that they will have a true HEA. I'm not convinced they make a strong unit because until the very end

It was something I was so sure in book 2. I even said it was something I particularly appreciate. It was a fact that wasn't questionable. And in "Under my skin" I felt like it was the opposite

What didn't work were also the many repetitions they were to remind what happened in the previous books. I get, as a trilogy, a reminder is useful for us readers but then put 2-3 sentences and that's it! The first half of the book is full of repetition and I was so sick of it!

The last thing that didn't work was the sex parts. It wasn't even hot anymore.
1) It was too much and repetitive
2) It was always the same dynamic. They only hae sex because Jackson or Sylvia can't deal with their own problems or thoughts. It wasn't even romantic.

Overall this trilogy started strong but ended with a bitter taste...

In the finale of the Stark International Trilogy Jackson and Sylvia learn the hard way that the fight for their love to survive their pasts is just beginning. With the shocking end of part two, we jump right into where we left off. Note, this review might contain spoilers of the prior two books, so please don’t read further if you haven’t yet read book one and two.

With suspicions of Jackson’s involvement in Reed’s murder and someone trying to sabotage the Cortez report increasing, Jackson and Sylvia are finding the deck stacked against them. Sure Jackson had enough motive to want to see Reed put to ground, but so did a few others. It’s just finding out who they are before it’s too late.

Sylvia has to push Jackson to find his release and control with her. Pushing her away to protect her only works for so long before this girl becomes a fighter – willing to prove just how much she loves him and what she’s willing to love him through. But it isn’t just Jackson pushing or thinking he’s the only one that plays the role of protector. As Sylvia is forced to face her own fears when it comes to the role she’ll play in Jackson’s daughter’s life some of her past fears linger.

First, there is no doubt that J. Kenner can write one helluva book. I’ve enjoyed the Stark and Wanted Series greatly but I felt like this series really could have been a two book series. There was a lot of recapping of events that were provided in the prior books and not just minor parts. So at times it felt a little repetitive. But not just from the prior books, even items mentioned in this installment were then later revisited in a way to explain references. Beyond that, with cutting down a bit of the sexy-times and losing a bit of the recaps would have left this series for me as a full five star duet, rather than a 3-4 (average) trilogy.

In the end I still really enjoyed this series and no doubt that Jackson was utterly delicious. The writing was fantastic as always and for the first 40% of so of the story I was completely captivated. For fans who love J. Kenner’s writing I think you’ll enjoy this spin off series.

Originally posted on The Book Nympho

The story begins where the last book ended, with Jackson under suspicion for murder, Sylvia's resort project in jeopardy and the fate of Jackson's daughter up in the air.

While the story moves at a slower pace, it's appropriate as Jackson and Sylvia are forced to communicate with each other at a deeper, more meaningful level and that takes time to develop. I liked that the focus deviated somewhat from the sexual, presenting a realistic view of two people learning how to rise above their individual natures and deal with conflicts together.

The revelations as to whom was behind the sabotage of the Santa Cortez Resort project, the murder and the leaks weren't very surprising but were well developed and interesting. It was also refreshing to see how Jackson and Damien's relationship evolved organically.

With the most recent iOS update, audiobooks were moved from the music app to iBooks and it seriously improved performance with some added features (I listen using my iPhone). Most significantly, I was able to speed up the narration just a tad (1.25) and it was a perfect pacing for me.

I really enjoyed this story and the series. Jackson and Sylvia were nicely crafted and of course their romance was steamy. I just liked both of them and where they landed individually and as a couple. Nice ending to a truly enjoyable trilogy.

Great conclusion to this series. No more cliffys with all the loose ends tied up. The first part started out slow with too much review of the previous two books. Yeah me, I was right about the bad guys. Nice epilogue.

This is the conclusion of Jackson and Sylvia's story. Cannot be read as a standalone. Buddy Read with my friend Liz! Thanks for taking this journey with me.

(Spoilers in here if you haven't read the first two in the series.)

Book 3 picks up right where book 2 left us. Jackson is wanted for questioning by the police for the murder of Robert Reed, the man who sexually abused Sylvia. And Sylvia's resort is being sabotaged by someone.

And I can't help but fear that the someone was Jackson, and that soon he will have to pay the price.- Sylvia

Jackson and Sylvia are deeply in love but are constantly fighting an uphill battle. Each have their own personal demons they are fighting. They try to push each other away to "protect" one another.

Not that my dad didn't already have some idea. He was the one who'd set me up with Reed as a teen, after all.

In the past they used sex to do their "talking" but I can happily say they are communicating much better in this book, using their words. However, the sex is still there and Jackson is all alpha male.

"I'm so tempted to fuck you in the ass right now. To take you in the most intimate way possible right here in the middle of the day, twenty six stories above this city. Tell me, baby. Does that excite you?"-Jackson

By the end of the book, we find out Jackson's fate, Sylvia's father's fate and exactly who is sabotaging Sylvia's resort. The drama didn't disappoint.

My thoughts:

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first two. I didn't feel like Sylvia evolved any, therefore I tired of her constant neediness and lack of confidence in their relationship. I hated the leaving then coming back. I also feel like this was a filler book. As in, there was so much of this book that was spent reminding us of things that happened in book one and two, that if all of that was taken out, the rest could've been added to the end of book 2 to tie it up nicely in a duet of books. Jackson was still a swoon-worthy, alpha male and I loved him. I loved that he and Damien pulled together and became the Damien is still my number 1 J. Kenner hero. Overall, I would definitely recommend this series and I'm anxious to see what J. Kenner brings us next!

Alright, finally back with Jackson & Sylvia - for one last time ☺
This review contains SPOILERs if you haven't read the first 2 books in the series!!!

At the end of the second book, Jackson & Sylvia had just arrived in Santa Fe - Jackson wanted to start proceedings to become Ronnie's dad legally and officially. But unfortunately the police showed up, telling us that that idiot Reed had been killed, and that Jackson is the main suspect.

That means back to Beveryl Hills to talk to lawyers and police.

Lots of problems still to overcome until our darlings can get their HEA:
Paparazzi - Jeremiah Stark - whoever is sabotaging the island project - the real killer (or did Jackson really kill him?) - Sylvia's dad & brother - et cetera.....

What will happen to Sylvia & Jackson?
Will there be a HEA?
Will everybody die at the end?
Or will there be a horrible Cliffhanger?

description

I'm not telling you that of course ☺

I loooved the first 2 books so much, and this final book in the series did not disappoint for one second!!!

We pick up right where On Your Knees ended... and we're not nearly at our HEA yet...

Lots of very exciting things happen - frustrating things - suspensy things - moving things - sad things - funny things .... Damien Stark things ... and - my favorite.... SEXY THINGS!!!!!!

description

This series is just soooo effing erotic!!! Phew!!!!
And Jackson with his little girl???? #Adorablicious

description

I loved every second of this final book in the series.

The story here and there reminded me a lot of the 3rd Damien book - with the trial etc. - but pfff - didn't bother me at all.

UNDER MY SKIN was an extremely erotic and moving & adorable & exciting romance. About secrets, about the past & the future, about family & friends, about having and giving-up control, about love & hate & forgiveness....and MURDER!!! ☺

...and even if the story wouldn't be interesting at all - you still don't want to miss reading it - you'll sooo fall in love with Jackson Steele too ☺ ☺ ☺

Now please hurry Julie - with whatever you're writing now - I NEEEEED to read it asap!

Under My Skin (Stark International Trilogy #3) by J Kenner
4 stars!!

“I want to reduce you to ashes, to discover all your secrets.”

So another J Kenner series comes to an end and once again I am bereft knowing that these characters’ storylines have come to their conclusion. Reconnecting with Damien Stark and learning all about Jackson Steele has been an amazing ride and once again J Kenner delivers a fantastic finale.

This book continues from the last and we were all left wondering who killed Reed and would Jackson take the rap for it or more importantly, did Jackson do it? It seems murder charges seem to follow these brothers around but for high profile individuals’ mud is constantly slung and the fear is that one day it will stick.

“You want to run off and fight? Want to kick the shit out of something? You don’t run to the ring, remember? You run to me.”

J Kenner ties up all our theories in this book and all questions are answered but there is still a lot going on. It seems that the resort is a target of sabotage and now we have another whodunit on our hands. Enemies are prevalent in their field and now it is a case of learning who can and cannot be trusted. With the investors all antsy, especially after Jackson becoming a person of interest it seems the world and his wife are against them.

“It’s a screwed up situation…and that’s why we’re all here. To make sure you don’t end up fucked.”

The first half of this book was a tad slow and there was quite a bit of recapping which did interrupt the flow but once we get into the nitty gritties in the second half the whole story ramps up and really gets going. The one thing I loved about this book the most was the burgeoning relationship between Damien and Jackson. It is when the chips are down that you know who has your back and even though these two had their differences in the beginning, they really do become a tight knit unit and that was beautiful to see. Blood can be thicker than water, unless you are of course, their dad.

“…father…That’s just a word…and right now it feels pretty damn hollow.”

I have to say the change in Sylvia in this book was not for the better, she was kind of annoying at times but she had her reasons and her insecurities. Jackson, as ever was strong, he had his moments where life and pressures showed through chinks in his armour but overall he was truly amazing considering what life was throwing at him.

“You’re my life, Syl. You’re my blood. You’re the only person who can break me, and the only one who can save me. And right now, I need you more than I need to breathe.”

Once again it is bittersweet and I am hoping that there must be another spin off in the works, I know you should get tired of reading about the same people over and over again but this bunch of characters have wormed their way in and with the many fingers in many pies that these lot have I am sure that they still have a lot to tell. Trouble seems to follow them everywhere so hopefully they will continue talking. We can but hope.

For those that loved the Stark trilogy, you will love this one too, plenty of drama, plenty of angst and plenty of smoking hot scenes to get the blood pressure rising for a different reason. Once again J Kenner delivered another great series.

5 Jackson Steele owned stars. The much needed conclusion to the Jackson Steele trilogy was just as emotional, powerful, and sexy as the first two. This book has solidified the fact that Jackson is my favorite of the brothers. Damien is lovely and all but Jackson is just so much more of everything and he completely a decent portion of my very soul.

With the news of Reed's murder and Jackson as the lead suspect, this novel picks up with Sylvia and Jackson struggling to deal with the possibility of Jackson ending up on trial and found guilty, Jackson's daughter, and investors pulling from the hotel project.

Jackson and Sylvie redeem and save one another through their love and understanding of what the other needs regardless of what words are said. They are in tune with each other's needs, desires, and work on a level deeper than most. They can survive without one another but they cannot live without each other and that is what makes their love so incredible. Their interdependence is telling yet beautiful. Everyone deserves the kind of love Jackson and Sylvie share because it is the kind that not only makes the couple better but also shows those around what true happiness looks like and makes me believe in soul mates.

Honestly, I have loved Jackson since the very first book and it hasn't gone anywhere. He's such a great character. He's not perfect but imperfectly perfect where even his flaws are endearing. He's smart, passionate, compassionate, loyal, ruthless, dynamic, and caring. My golden standard in heroes of this type is Gideon Cross and I have to say Jackson is on par with him.

This book ends Jackson and Sylvie's story well. Everything is wrapped up and the character's get the happiness they both deserve. The only sadness that the book truly brings is that it means their story has come to an end and I do love Jackson Steele. Julie Kenner continues to show just how talented of a writer she is with this series and I look forward to her next part in the Stark International universe.

And now for the conclusion of the Stark International trilogy… Book three picks right up where book two left off and the reader is immediately immersed into Jackson and Sylvia’s world.

In book three, we find out who murdered Reed, who’s been sabotaging the Cortez project and whether Sylvia and Jackson will finally stop running away from each other to make a life together.

Once again, Ms. Kenner writes a spellbinding book that pulls the reader right into the character’s world. Unfortunately, the final book in the series fell a bit flat for me. The storyline was very similar to Damien and Nikki’s, plus there tended to be a bit of repetition in Sylvia and Jackson’s behaviors. And the murderer and saboteur were not surprises either, but rather tele-pathed through the storyline.

All in all, though, I liked the series. I think I would have loved it if I hadn’t already read Damien and Nikki’s story through the Stark trilogy, however.

Note: This is book three in the Stark International trilogy and is not a standalone. ~ Missy, 3.5 stars

This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.

Jackson is not a man to let circumstances get the better of him,and he is not a man who will let an injury go unavenged.

First Impressions
Under My Skin is the third book and the finale of the trilogy and this is where we see all the build-up of the first two books really build into the climax that has been teased and it’s also the story that has the most intensity with the plot building and will keep you at the edge of your seat all the way through it. I was really interested to see what this author would do in this book especially with the ending that we experienced within the second book because what a cliffhanger to deliver me into the hands of this book here. And yeah it had plenty of tension, drama and intense emotion and I was all for it and I loved all of the reveals and seeing how the plot was built was worth every moment. Jackson and Sylvia just hold a special place in my heart and I was all in for this story here. If you are wanting answers and seeing all the secrets revealed, then buckle up because it’s going to be a wild ride!

Summary
I won’t be sharing the summary of this book other than that this is the third installment and there are many secrets revealed and their relationship is pushed to the limits. All the other details will spoil it for you.

What I Loved
Under My Skin was such a story that it had me wrapped up in knots and I am not complaining at all. J. Kenner took me to the edge and back and I was more than happy about it. She has a way about her writing that especially in her trilogies that the third book just delivers in every way and Under My Skin definitely brought everything to the surface and more. I honestly couldn’t get enough of this book and was so thrilled to finally see all the truths come out and seeing the culmination of their struggles and seeing their relationship really shine in this book. You definitely see how they go through a contemporary version of the refiner’s fire and it was so brilliant to see it happen. I was so touched in the way it delivered in all the aspects from plot building, to character development, and to levels of all the feels and intimacy. You definitely will be easily swept away and there was such an intriguing element of seeing Stark’s connection to this story and how well he relates to these books but most especially this installment. There are so many secret reveals that are delivered and it had such a satisfying feeling to the trilogy. We also see plenty of relationship beauty in this book and seeing how much Jackson and Sylvia are connected and how it gets them through the rough patches that they are faced with and no worries the heat is TOP NOTCH! But there is more focus on the plot and other aspects of their relationship. You will be given depths to their relationship that will work for you, and the ending will deliver a satisfying sweet moment to leave you with a smile.

Decide how you want to play the game, sweetheart. But know that I’m only willing to play by my rules.

What I Struggled With
There was nothing…it was everything I expected and more!

Overall View
I found Under My Skin to be a worthwhile read that was packed with an edgy feelin’ that manifested all the way through, it delivered in its sensual sweetness and thrilling takes of the plot reveals to leave you fully satisfied in the end!

I want to reduce you to ashes, to discover all your secrets.

Please watch your step as you exit this emotional roller coaster into pure bliss. Julie has taken us on a trip of emotional highs and lows, through plot twist after twist. I'm pretty sure there was boomerang action in there too. But the trip was worth the rush and tears. I am standing back in line and ready to go again.

Under My Skin is a delicacy that needs to be savored. The conclusion to this heart gripping story is perfection. I couldn't have asked for a better ending. The sexual chemistry between Jackson and Sylvia will have you begging for more, right along with them. It's combustible, panty melting and leaves you breathless.

Julie has built characters so deeply distinguished that I feel I know them like a friend. Opening her books gives me a coming home feeling, but I am still unsure what I will find on the other side of that door.

Sylvia is fighting for the man she loves, doing whatever it takes to tether him to her and keep them both grounded. They are each other's lifeline whether they want to full admit that or not. It feels like the world is against them and they are going to need all of the strength they can muster to prepare for the fight ahead.

Jackson is back in all his heart-stoppingly alpha ways, protecting those he loves even if it means going to jail. Can he keep his temper under control? Can he create a life with Syl and Ronnie? Can he find a way to avoid jail? You will have to read to find out. I promise you this book will give your emotions a workout, but you will feel invigorated when you meet 'The End.'

Thank you, Julie, for another masterfully written story of love, scandal, sex and belonging. I am sad to see this series end, but cannot wait to see what else you have up your sleeve.

“He is so much more. He is power and tenderness, strength and control. He is the man who has colored my days and illuminated my nights. Jackson Steele. The man that I love. The man that I foolishly tried to leave. The man who grabbed hold and pulled me back, then slayed my demons, and in doing so claimed my heart.”

The conclusion is finally here!! I have been on pins and needles waiting for this book to come out. I need to know how things would play out in the end….

Under My Skin was such a thrilling ride. It picks up right where On My Knees left off. Jackson had plans to finally be with his little girl and bring her home, only to be stopped and questioned in they mysterious death of Mr. Reed. As if this wasn’t enough to deal with, someone is trying to mess up Sylvia’s plans for the resort. Will Jackson give up without a fight? How far will both Jackson and Sylvia go to protect each other? Will Jackson and Sylvia ever get their HEA?

Under My Skin was a quick and easy read for me. I was super excited to see how things would play out. It was really easy to get lost in Jackson and Sylvia again. The two of them love to frustrate me. Yes, they have amazing, scorching, HOT chemistry, but they really need to work on their communication skills. They both kept doing dumb things in the name of protecting each other and I just wished they would talk to each other instead of making big decisions on their own. In the end though, I think these two were great for each other. I appreciated the way that they loved and supported each other. I loved how Jackson was able to help Sylvia face and move past her fears.

I did have one complaint/issue with this book and that is the recapping. I’m not really a fan of recapping. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. The only time I’m not bothered by it is if it’s really necessary to the story. For example, if I’ve waited 6-1yr for a book, then yes, please give me some recap. However, when it hasn’t been too long of a wait, it bothers me. Also, if this is the third book in the series, I don’t believe that we should be rehashing everything from the first two books. Those issues should be resolved and the reader should be getting the conclusion they need from the third book. This is not necessarily a bad thing. This is something that bothers me and is my opinion.

Overall, I thought Under My Skin was a great read. The story-line was intriguing and kept me captivated. It hit all the marks that I was looking for in this read. There shortage of drama, romance and mystery. The angst was taken back a notch, but I think all the other drama more than made up for it.

Under My Skin was a great ending to this series. I really loved the epilogue. This was my first series by J. Kenner and she has definitely made a fan out of me. I’m really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Wow. Seriously, just WOW. This was spectacular. Perfect ending to the trilogy. Loved it immensely! Amazingly well written with detailed and complicated characters that are full of raw emotion, passion, and intensity.

Sylvia and Jackson have a captivating story and I was lost to it. I could feel their insecurities and vulnerabilities as they went through all of their ups and downs. I loved in the midst of everything, they still had so much strength. Sylvia’s especially blows me away realizing just how far she has come, grown, and accepted certain things since book one. She's pretty phenomenal. I'm a big Jackson fan and his intensity, courage, and power really resonate with me and I love how he held himself. When Jackson and Sylvia are intimate, their passion is explosive and filled with wild desire. Besides it being really hot sex, it's so much more. They have this sexual connection that's crazy intense but it's also beautiful, because they can truly lose themselves in the other with no judgment. You not only feel that sensuality, but that true connection.

I had so many lingering questions and I was on the edge of my seat while I got all my answers, it was intense and emotional! Couldn't read fast enough! It had this incredible build as all the secrets and details were learned and I thought everything was revealed at the perfect time.

There are several relationships happening besides Sylvia and Jackson's and those growing connections made me so happy. I have loved Damien forever so seeing him connect with Jackson was a treat. I also adore how Ronnie came into play and how that was handled.

Excellent story, build, well developed, great pace. It was drama filled, heartbreaking, sexy, and full of second chances. I think I held my breath the last 25% with my hand covering my mouth because I was so riveted by what was happening.

I think this series is J. Kenner’s best work to date. The Stark International Trilogy is a must read!

This book is from one of my go to authors. There hasn't been a book by Ms. Kenner that I have not enjoyed. In this installment westill have Jackson and Sylvia battling their demons while trying to cope with their relationship, getting their resort project up and going, keeping Jackson from going to jail for a murder that he did not commit, and all the while trying to forge a relationship with Jackson's daughter. There are a lot of twists and turns and moments you didn't see coming. I am glad for how things ended for Jackson and Sylvia and look forward to seeing sneak peaks in upcoming books.

Ugh......This series just really fell to the waist side after the first book (Say My Name). The 2nd book (On My Knees) was ok. Then this book just bombed. When On My Knees ended, it ended with Jackson getting arrested for a murder charge. Now, when that happened I knew that it wasn't Jackson. Now, I'm pretty sure every reader who's read this series knew it wasn't Jackson too. You knew who the real 'murderer' was with how things left off & events that led up to that point. Because of that, this book was complete filler. You're reading this book already knowing the outcome for every issue that arises. Not just Jackson's pending murder arrest/trial but, issues with Sylvia's resort & stuff with Jackson's kid. I figured everything out when the issue first arouse. It wasn't hard to figure out. I was hoping J. Kenner wouldn't go the obvious route but she did. It kinda feels like a cop out. Where's the fun in that?! With On My Knees, I was already borderline not liking Sylvia anymore. This book put the nail in the coffin for me. I couldn't stand her or the characters anymore (besides Damien & Nikki). Every issue that arouse between Jackson & Sylvia they never communicated about them. They had sex to ignore their problems & that got boring after the first few times.

It's disappointing that I didn't like this book because I had very high hopes for not only this book but, also this series. This is a go to author for me where I've loved pretty much every other book she's written. I'm looking at this as a bump in the road. This book won't sway me from reading any other books or series she writes.

*ARC* in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley

I honestly don't know where to begin with this review. When On My Knees ended, Jackson was approached by the police for the murder of Robert Cabot, a man who not only wanted to make a movie about an event in Jackson's life that would only hurt the people involved, but once upon a time, teenage Sylvia had been a model for Cabot, who then used Sylvia for his own personal use. Like the Damien Stark series, the third and final novel in that series started with Damien on trial for murder, but that was quickly wrapped up and the story progressed. Unfortunately, the murder mystery went on for 85% of this story. While the reader knows Jackson isn't the guilty party, if you've read the series, you know who the killer is. I had hoped that Ms. Kenner wouldn't be that obtuse with her choice, but she was. Same goes for the person who kept sabotaging Sylvia's foray into making an island resort be "the" resort for the uber wealthy. It was predictable and old.
I love Ms. Kenner's writing, but this book just didn't do it for me, which makes me very sad. I had such high expectations for this, but Sylvia proved that she was a weakling (until the last few pages, but by then, it was too late for me to care), unable to stand on her own two feet. While the sex was hot, and Jackson and Sylvia had great chemistry, this just was not my favorite.

8/17 (70pgs in) Yeah. The whole "works fine as a stand alone" isn't so true. It's okay but I've missed so much starting here that I really don't have any emotional investment in these two and what they're going through which is making the book have a lot less impact.

8/16 Woohoo! Starting my first from J. Kenner.

3.5 stars.

This is a wonderful ending to the series. It is full of passion and mystery and yet more angst. In the end Jackson and Sylvia's story was worth the rollercoaster journey to give them their much deserved HEA.

Para mim, o desfecho da série não teve nada de arrebatador nem algo inesperado. E sinceramente, as cenas de sexo foram um bocadinho demais... Ora estavam a fazer, ora estavam a pensar fazer...
Havia tanto conteúdo que a autora podia ter desenvolvido...

I've loved Sylvia and Jackson's story, and while there is definitely a lot coming down on their shoulders in Under My Skin, I love that the central focus of the story is on Sylvia and Jackson fighting for one another even when they're pushed away or closed off. From the very beginning, J. Kenner proved that the only way those two can survive their pasts as well as the chaos of their present is by working together, communicating with each other, and in their own ways, using each other's bodies.

Kenner has illustrated from readers’ first introduction to Jackson Steele that he is a man who needs control; he survives and thrives on it because it makes his life cohesive, but in the final book of the Starks International Trilogy, there are so many things out of his control and that feeling has him on tilt because he’s forced to put his fate in the hands of people who may just want to tear him down.

Sylvia’s finally stopped running, but now she’s afraid that she’ll lose Jackson to the shadows, which is something she refuses to allow to happen. Sylvia proves how strong of a woman she is in Under My Skin; she shows why she’s the only woman for Jackson because regardless of the what ifs and screw ups, Jackson is her safe place…her home, and she knows he feels the same way about her; she just needs to remind him what she can do for him.

Once again, J. Kenner creates a dynamic couple who refuse to give up on one another and who will fight like hell to be together despite everything and everyone who is fighting against them.

The Stark International setting is a world I would gladly remain in because Kenner does such an amazing job to bring it to life in both the business and societal realms. Damien and Nikki and Jackson and Sylvia are fascinated characters in a wonderfully crafted society - one that oozes money, sex, and drama, and Kenner delivers in all aspects in the conclusion of Jackson and Sylvia’s story.

Slow start...good finish.

**FULL REVIEW**

"But even thought I know that keeping silent about this call is absolutely the right decision, I can't help but feel as if my silence is the first step on a dark path leading me away from Jackson. And if I don't fight to keep him by my side, I'm going to lose him to the shadows."

Sylvia and Jackson have found their groove. They know that together, they are stronger, whole. But someone or something is out to destroy Jackson. Someone has done the unspeakable...and Jackson will pay the price.

"Because I have spoken the truth: I will always be there for him. But if he's arrested--if he's convicted--the same won't be true for me. I'll be alone. And I honestly don't know if I'm strong enough to survive without Jackson by my side."

When faced with demons of their pasts as well as complications in their present and possible future, Jackson does what he feels is right...but Sylvia knows that this time she can't let him have control. She needs to fight for what she wants, and what she wants is Jackson...and a life...happiness...him.
On top of their work relationship, what they have to do to keep the island project afloat, the information they discover both professionally and personally just might be enough to finally tear them apart...or push them that much closer together.

"He makes me feel loved and cherished and beautiful. With Jackson, I can surrender control without opening the door to fear. To self-loathing. With Jackson, I can lose myself to submission. To passion. To love."

This is a great ending to the trilogy. I have enjoyed watching Sylvia's and Jackson's story unfold and while this wasn't my favorite in the series, I felt it was 100% necessary. Every question is finally answered, every secret has been revealed and there is even a little surprise at the end. I wasn't disappointed.

Under my skin is the last book is of Sylvia and Jackson's story. I wonder if anyone else in the Stark universe will get their own book. I also wonder if Damien and Nikki will become parents one day. I would really like the chance to see them have their own baby.

My biggest problem with this book is that I felt like it didn't have a strong pull on me. I didn't feel the need to finish it in one sitting (I did in two), which is something that I don't usually do. I guess that I did not like how uncertain things were. The problem was that Sylvia was would say to Jackson how she would like to raise Ronnie and a second later she would think that she wasn't so sure about raising her. She would put on a facade about how she was handling things, but in her mind she was never sure about things. By this point, I was expecting her to be more certain about what she could and couldn't handle.

To me this book felt a little disappointing. I would have expected a stronger final book that was going to leave me begging for more. I am thinking that at around 70-80% of the book things got interesting and that's the reason this book doesn't have a lower rating. J. Kenner's writing felt like the same and I believe this time I am at fault. Also, this time I am not going to compare this book with Complete Me because it didn't feel like a retelling of the story.

The bromance between Damien and Jackson felt a little abrupt (I can't explain why), but I loved it very much. It felt good to see Damien and Jackson support each other.

In the ending chapters I felt like Sylvia needed to fight more her demons. The way she got over them seemed too easy. The epilogue was very sweet ending to Sylvia and Jackson's story.

Under My Skin gets 4.5 stars! I absolutely loved the ending that we receive from Ms. Kenner as she definitely did all of her characters justice. From the first two books, we see and feel the overwhelming love and lust that Jackson and Sylvia share, but this third and final book shows just how far they will go to protect one another, even if it means breaking their own hearts. We start the book immediately where On My Knees left off, with Jackson and Sylvia in New Mexico visiting his daughter, Ronnie. This, of course, comes after Jackson is approached on the tarmac by the police who then tell him he is a suspect in a murder. From this point, it is a rollercoaster of highs and lows and so much indecision and uncertainty that I started getting worried we wouldn't get our HEA. I needed an HEA because, after three tumultuous books, I can't imagine any other couple who deserved it as much as our H and h. "You see me," he says simply. "You know that I'd do whatever is necessary to protect you. To protect Ronnie." He draws a slow breath. "But a jury won't see that. That's my heart, baby. And my heart is only for you." He reaches over and strokes my cheek. "It will be okay." Swoon!!!

No spoilers here because Under My Skin is truly an amazing book that you have to experience for yourself. But, believe me, you will get frustrated and want to slap both characters when they hide things - I know that I certainly did! However, all of this builds up to one of the best endings I have read in this genre. I can only hope that Ms. Kenner continues this series so we can revisit these characters again! Well done on another amazing trilogy!

Be aware some spoilers to follow!
" Under my Skin " , is the final book in the Stark International series, and I love Jackson Steele even more . As well as Ms Kenner writing style!
This book picks up were " On My Knees" left off ; just when these two think that things are leveling off and Jackson is going to file for custody of his daughter , Ronnie; he is accused of murdering Sylvia's childhood tormentor , and the man pushing to do a tell all film about his daughters mother and family.
Having to put off bringing home his daughter along with possibly facing prison time ; Jackson's anger once again surfaces but instead of using sex with Sylvia he tries to push her away. Sylvia though , thanks to Jackson support is stronger now and chases after and confronts him; if you have been reading the series you know that when Jackson's temper is up and Sylvia is his focus the sex is dominant, controlling and explosive! Unfortunately for as good as it is and as much as these two love one another more and more obstacles keep arising, their Cortez project keeps being meddled with and then vandalized. The outlook for Jackson just keeps getting worse , so when e is told he needs to turn himself in for arrest he pushes Sylvia away yet again.
Will Sylvia stand up to him again? Will she walk away from it all? Did Jackson really kill Reed?
Will they get an HEA?
Guess your going to have to read to find out!

5 Stars!

The wait is finally over! That's right. The final chapter for Sylvia and Jackson is here. It is has been leading up to this moment.... where we finally get the final book in this highly addictive and erotic trilogy. This author brought her A game and gave us an intense third book that will have you on your toes and the edge of your seat until the very last word... walking away completely satisfied.

This book was amazing, flawless, and breathtaking. This series is amazing. It is sexy, addictive, intense, edgy, passionate, thrilling, and full of tons of twists and turns to keep you guessing. This author blended the perfect amount of angst, suspense, and erotica to keep you breathless and panting for more. If you have been following this series, then you need this book now.

This is the final installment in Jackson and Sylvia's story. Once again they sucked me back into their world and gave me nothing less than perfection. Full of epic moments, perfect love, and heart-stopping moments, this author weaved a brilliant love story that was classic and will be with you long after it is over. Their love is beautiful and intense but it has not easy but totally worth it. Get ready to jump back into their world and hold on for one crazy hot and sexy ride to their happy ending.

I highly recommend this book!

If you loved Damien Stark & Nikki Fairchild...you will love Jackson Steele & Sylvia Brooks!!

**This is book 3 & final book of the series, reading Book 1 & 2 first is a must!!**

Sylvia is the secretary of Damien Stark, if you've read the Stark series, you have already had a brief intro to her as the sweet, friendly, efficient, loyal secretary. But this series you will find out all about Sylvia, and her haunted past. She does a good job of covering her past scars.

Jackson has a sordid past of his own to fight...many spoilers I don't want to reveal, but you won't want to miss reading to find out!

This series is their 2nd chance together and they're chemistry is smoking, off the charts, explosive, freakin' HOT!! Jackson is total Alpha male and his dominance in the bedroom is something Sylvia loves. They ground each other.

J. Kenner loves her naughty words and where most of the time I don't care for the use of certain words, J. Kenner has a way of making it so EARTH SCORCHING HOT, I LOVED IT!!

Again without revealing any spoilers, this final book of Jackson & Sylvia's story does not leave you with any unanswered questions. All mysteries and questions are resolved.

First of all I have to say that I love J. Kenner. Her original Stark Trilogy is one of the better erotica series I've ever read. This new trilogy, based in the same universe as the original series, is good, but not quite as good, at least not in my humble opinion.

Under My Skin is the final novel in the new Stark International Trilogy, so you simply must read Say My Name and On My Knees first, otherwise you won't have any idea what's going on here.

I loved the characters, Jackson Steele and Sylvia Brooks, but the story just seemed to lack a little something for me. It was exciting at times, but seemed a bit repetitive to me at other times. I'm not saying it's bad because it's not. In fact, there were times where it was pretty dang good.

I think if you liked the original Stark Trilogy, and you like J. Kenner's writing, then I'm sure you will not be sorry you picked this series up. Under My Skin does wrap up very nicely all of the loose threads created in the first two books. Jackson and Sylvia are great characters, and I'm sure you will fall in love with both of them.
