While I would say this was a good read, all I must say is that I see Fifty Shades Of Grey had a lot of influence on this book... I mean it was a poor but close Imitation to one of my favorite books... How could you Brynley Bush? 😕

Anyway, for what it's worth this book was well written, and there was a connection with the characters and its audience.. But this book loses major points since it wasn't original and a poor mans Fifty Shades Of Grey... SMH!!! 😔

Well all I can give this book for a review... it was just "Okay"....

Beckett is a super hot dominant, totally alpha hottie!!! Together this is their story of finding and falling in love with each other. Great secondary characters. Griffin' s story up next, love me some Navy seals!!!

This wasn't bad, but there were a lot of Fifty Shades of Grey and Crossfire feels going on throughout this book though. When I say a lot, I mean A LOT. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Those two series are ones I've read so many times I can quote things to you, so it's a little offputting when I'm reading a book and I'm like oh that happened in Fifty, oh wait, this is a Crossfire playoff.

Beckett is my kind of guy, an alpha male that exudes dominance. I love that. Emma is ok but she has a lot of insecurities. The whole I've never had an orgasm in all my life so that means I just can't but then the first time we are together, I'll have like five...lol

The angst in this one with the other woman is straight out of Crossfire so I was anticipating it. I didn't really buy into a lot of it at this point. It was just really trying to throw anything and everything into a pile to see what kind of drama we could come up with.

I'm not sure I'll be continuing with this series.

Hotness Rating 4 out of 5

Fearless by Brynley Bush is the first book of the Black Brothers series.  It could not have been a better start to a series.  When I started this book my first thought was “not another Fifty Shades of Grey knock off, please”.  There were similarities, but there were even more differences.  This book definitely gives you the hot, dominant alpha male and equally sizzling sex with some bdsm thrown in.  Seriously, you maybe should keep the fire extinguisher close.  But, we also get a strong single mom and great supporting characters.  There is emotion, dialogue and love, as well as, a bit of intrigue.  I loved that Ms. Bush didn’t go for the “suck the life out of you” secret keeping just to create unnecessary drama.  She had faith in her story and characters to hold your attention.  And it did!  I was hooked right away.

Dr. Beckett Black has devoted his life to helping others.  He and his family are huge cancer advocates and do all they can in research to find a cure.  When the beautiful Emmaline Hart pops in at his practice with a proposal to update the pamphlets he’s fascinated by her.  After careful research he has a proposition of his own.  He would like Emmaline to help his father write his memoirs.  The man is brilliant and has spent so much of his time in the Amazon searching for a cancer cure.  His story deserves to be shared.  If he’s being honest and Beckett is always honest he wants her for himself just as much.  With the high pressure job that he has it’s not surprising that he has control issues in every aspect of his life especially in the bedroom.  Now, if only he can convince Emmaline to let him show her the pleasures that only he can give her.

Emmaline Hart is a single mom that does it all.  When she was married her husband just sat back and expected her to be the responsible one and now that he’s gone nothing has changed.  With everything always on her shoulders it’s no surprise that she holds so tight to her control that she’s almost rigid.  Heck she’s never even had an orgasm she’s so tied to her control.  The more she gets to know Beckett the more she likes about him.  Of course, she finds him sexy as sin, but he’s also compassionate, brilliant, and thoughtful.  But, his dominance scares her more than a little bit.  It’s a lot for a control freak to accept especially when Beckett wants nothing more than for her to surrender her all to him.

I definitely recommend this book and cannot wait to read more about the dominant Black brothers.  It’s going to be hard to find one I like more than Beckett, but I have a feeling the other two brothers are going to give it their best.   The elderly Dr. Black is wonderful and such a good man.  I don’t know that it’s possible for the next two boys to be anything but.

Emmaline is divorced, a single mother, and used to being in control and taking care of everything. The only thing she hasn't taken care of are her needs, especially the intimate ones, since her divorce two years prior.
Enter Dr. Beckett Black, the sexy urologist who pursues Emmaline to write his father's memoirs about his time in the Amazon doing cancer research. Black is very upfront in his pursuit of Emmaline not only as his father's writer but also as his bed partner.

Things get steamy rather quick between Black and Emmaline. She discovers Beckett's preferences involve kink and domination and it is a whole new sexual awakening for Emmaline. For those really into the BDSM genre, I'm sure they will find this to be rather timid but it is steamy and entertaining nonetheless. Beyond the encounters, Emmaline finds herself falling hard for the sexy domineering doctor and she wonders if he feels the same as he has not really revealed much of himself or his feelings for Emmaline.

Things come to a head with the climax of the story and while I appreciate the concepts of betrayal and hurt it just seemed a little over the top. The tie in to the father's story and his lifelong pursuit added an extra dimension to the story but between the ex's, half siblings, and guns it just got away from me. Honestly the explanation Emma gives to the police seemed just downright outrageous.

Now after reading that little bit, I am certain that it only intrigues one further as to what the heck actually goes down in this story. The great thing is the ending winds up being just right even if the timeline just doesn't wash out. I can't believe all Beckett gets accomplished in just over six weeks.

As this is the first book in the Black Brother's Trilogy we will undoubtedly get two other books about these sexy alpha males. Griffin's book is next up and who can resist an Navy SEAL. We do get a nice little look in to this next book at the completion of Emmaline and Beckett's story. What I am really wondering about is the third brother that we know so little about...can't wait.

My “must read” author shelf just got fuller! For me, a good story has to have a few key elements. Number one – likeable characters are a must. Even if they are people I like to ‘hate’, they will be interesting and memorable. Natural dialogue is another essential – if I read it aloud and can’t help bursting out laughing (in a bad way) then something is not quite right. And a plot that moves me is what an author will have me back for time and again. Whether I laugh or cry or sit at the edge of my seat, if I’m engaged from page one to the end, I am a happy camper. This book ticked all the boxes for me in what, I am happy to say, is not just “another” BDSM book!

Emmaline Hart is a mother, a writer, a divorcee and, little did she know it, a sensual woman. Believing her sexuality to be a minor part of her life, meeting Beckett Black has her realizing life has a lot more pleasure to offer than she thought.

The attraction is immediate with the sexual tension built up both in and outside the bedroom. I love that their story includes more than hot, satisfying sex – though that is worth the price of the book right there. There is family and friendship, and genuine caring and respect between the main and secondary characters that invites you into their circle. And, sticking true to life, there are characters that you would like to give a swift smack to – not naming any names of course (*cough* Camille).

Hot sex, characters and storyline had me wishing this story would not end. Thankfully, the only thing better than a great read is finding out it is the first in a series. Bring on the rest of the Black brothers – I can’t wait to read their stories! ~ Diane, 5 stars

3.75-4 stars. This was a good book! This was the story of Emmaline, a single, divorced mother who is a freelance writer. She writes magazine articles and marketing material. Her work brings her to do some advertising material for Beckett, a surgeon. He is interested in her and lets his feelings be known right away. He also asks her to ghost write for his father, a reknowned cancer reseracher's memoir book. Beckett and Emma spend time together and fall in love. But someone from their pasts makes it look like Emma has betrayed his trust and threatens to spoil their happiness.

I really liked Emmaline and Beckett. They were both good characters with lots of depth. I really felt their connection and that they really loved each other. Beckett knew he wanted Emma and pursued her and showed her how much he cared. They were hot and sweet together. The story was interesting and the writing was good. I also liked that the book was set in Houston, where I live, and the familiarity in the descriptions of the places they went. This was my first book by Brynley Bush and I will definitely read more of her work in the future. I'm intrigued by Beckett's brothers stories upcoming in the series.

Why have I never read this book before?!?!? It was freaking fantastic. Beckett... Oh lord he deserves a moment of silence for being phenomenal. He is dominant, possessive, sweet, loyal, honest. There was non of this " I'm gonna a mystery when you ask me things. Crap he was open and honest. He had no big secrets in his closet and I loved him. And Emma was not only likeable. She was sweet and funny and kinda kick butt!

The best part of the book was the lack of drama! It wasn't riddled with misunderstandings and cat fights. And when the drama hit.. It wasn't what I expected. And it wasn't drown out! Seriously loved this book and can't wait to start the next

Hot as hell sex scenes and a true love story with some twists and turns all mixed together make for a 5 star read! Looking forward to reading the next book in the trilogy! Wonderful job by the author for keeping it "real"!

Overview

Fiercely independent and newly single mom Emmaline Hart has spent the last thirteen years putting everyone's needs before her own. Secretly afraid that her ex-husband's assertions that she's too uptight are right, Emma nonetheless keeps her life, and her emotions, firmly under control, fearful of getting hurt again. However, when she meets the dangerously attractive Beckett Black on a job assignment, the way his casual touch sends her pulse racing forces her to acknowledge her growing need to move beyond her fear. Emma spends her days with the renowned doctor, who has spent his career studying a plant in the Amazon that has the potential to cure cancer, and her nights with Beckett, who slowly pushes past her fears and breaks down her barriers, introducing her to a passionate and forbidden love that surpasses her wildest fantasies. As the doctor's story of secrets and cover-ups unravels, so does Emmaline's view on everything she thought she knew about herself and the power of surrender.

My Thoughts

I picked up this first installment to the series after being approved via Netgalley for book 2. Always a good kick in the butt to start off a series in the proper place don't you think? Anyhow, what we get here is sweet story of a man who's a successful dom and a woman who thinks that she's not valued in the way that she should be since she's a single mom and her ex made her feel small. Semi characteristic of the genre - yet not so bad when you read through where the storyline goes.

We meet our leading lady Emmaline who is a freelance writer - creating a brochure for a doctor's practice. When it's the younger partner who comes to meet with her one day instead of the older one, well things flip upside down. Dr Black - Beckett walks in and the sparks between them start to fly. It's then that we see that he likes to take control and well, that's something that Emma clearly needs since she's been playing the devoted mom for too long.

We quickly see the relationship between these 2 develop and where i think there are hints that it should go further into BDSM than it does, i like a line that Emma uses later in the book that it's more 'kinky play in the bedroom' or something like that. I've gotten a little bit of an education and i think that the level of kink and naughtyness is perfect for someone who's new to the genre. (maybe someone who's just seen FSOG).

Anyhow, if their relationship and somewhat differing tastes didn't make for a good enough story, there's the underlying bit of a memoir that Emma's writing for Beckett's father - where there's this quest to find the missing link to a cancer cure in the Amazon. Add in a jilted ex who has her own motivations (Camille), and a psycho who almost succeeds in bodily harm/murder and you have a page turner as we come to the close of the story.

There's passion here - a bit of control and some great scening - i think that there's definitely a few missed opportunities to take things just a bit further, but i think that since we get a nice emotional bond between the characters both mains and secondaries - i'll let it slide. We really get to see a lot of Beckett's family life and that's good since it means that we've gotten the intro to Griffin and Drake (who will be in books 2 and 3) as well as learn the back story on how Beckett became the man that he is. I think that when you have that depth, it makes the heat and steam all that much better and i have faith that we'll get more in book 2. So...i'm off to pick up that copy since i've got it in my Netgalley library and i'll let you all know what i think. In the meantime, enjoy this one since you don't know who's going to be the one to turn on you. and there's a twist with one of the characters playing for the wrong side of right. Enjoy!

Fearless by Brynley Bush
Book #1: Black Brothers Trilogy
Source: Purchase
My Rating: 4½/5 stars
My Review:

Emmaline Hart’s self-confidence took a hard hit during her long marriage. Her once supportive and charming husband became a worthless piece of sh*% who blamed all his failures on Emmaline and held her success in contempt. Clearly, that marriage failed. The only real advantage to come out of her lousy marriage is her daughter, Nikki. Since the divorce, Nikki and Emmaline have more than made their way with Nikki killing it in school and Emmaline continuously advancing her professional writing career. With her life on track, Emmaline has only one desire, to regain her self-confidence and become fearless.

Beckett Black is fearless, confident, successful, gorgeous, and totally interested in Emmaline Hart. From the moment he first saw her in his medical practice office, Beckett was intrigued. Everything about Emmaline calls to Beckett’s dominate nature and meeting her is imperative. Beckett isn’t one to go into a situation unprepared so after a little research and a serendipitous moment in the office, Beckett not only gets his chance to meet Emmaline but he offers her a chance of a lifetime, to help his father write his memoir. In addition to helping his father, Beckett also makes it clear he is interested in pursuing a relationship with Emmaline. No time like the present to be fearless, right?

From the beginning, Beckett asserts himself and Emmaline finds herself on uncertain but absolutely erotic ground. After a little research of her won, Emmaline finds she is not just involved with an assertive man but a Dominant and if she is willing, Beckett will help her explore a whole new world of sex and sensuality she never knew existed. Though Emmaline was sure her life was complete, Beckett’s presence fulfills her in a whole new way and in no time flat she is hopelessly in love with her Dominant man. For Beckett’s part, Emmaline is precious and being a part of his life quickly becomes as critical as breathing. Though only thing that could possibly tear Beckett from Emmaline’s life is betrayal and when that moment comes, even his legendary control slips.

Not only does the betrayal come but it comes in a huge and very public way and Emmaline Hart is caught right in the middle of the storm. Not only is her relationship with Beckett blown all to hell but her work with Beckett’s dad is also compromised. If Emmaline has any chance of making things right, she is has to pull off something huge in order to get Beckett’s attention and convince him of her innocence. Emmaline certainly gets Beckett’s attention but it is what happens later that is the real game changer.

The Bottom Line: Fearless had me hooked from the very beginning! Bush doesn’t make the reader wait for the good bits, those happen pretty quickly and the story just gets better from there. Though Emmaline’s self-confidence is a bit on the low side, she quickly comes out of her shell under Beckett’s care. Beckett may be a Dom but he is a pretty mild Dom and that is exactly what Emmaline needs in her life. The book becomes even more interesting as Beckett’s father tells Emmaline the story of his life and his research which of course, inherently means learning Beckett’s story. Beckett’s story is as much a surprise as the ultimate betrayal but it certainly makes for good reading. There is just one scene in the book (at the club at the end) that set me somewhat on edge but in the end, Bush pulled everything together and created a pretty perfect HEA. Guess what, dear reader? There are two more Black brothers . . .I am on to book two, Matchless!!

***I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review!*** (3.5 Stars)

This is the first book in the Black Brothers Trilogy, and it introduces us to the oldest brother, Beckett. Curious with the woman who has been put in charge of working on a campaign for his office, he decides to get to know her better. By offering her a job to write his father's memoir, he gets to know the independent woman who has piqued his interest. From the beginning it is clear that there are sparks between the two. Having just gotten over her divorce, Emma decides that she wants to become a little more fearless and to take some chances for a change. Beckett makes and interesting offer, and it is one that she cannot refuse.

I liked Emma. I thought she was funny, loyal and very intelligent. She was a good mother, and worked hard at her job. While she was independent, Beckett brought out desires in her that she never knew that she had. He was able to take control from her, but in a way that left her protected and satiated.

Beckett was a bit of a control freak. Being a Dominant, he liked things the way he wanted them. He pursued Emma, and though he never expected to find deeper feelings for her, he did. Beckett was a bit of an enigma. While I thought he sounded dreamy, and I liked the way he took control, I didn't feel as much of a connection to his character as I would have liked.

Having read the last book in this series first, I knew what was going to happen already in the story. I wish I had read them in the correct order to maximize my reading enjoyment so there was a bit more of a surprise. That didn't take away from my rating though, just a recommendation to other readers to read them in order.

There were some things in this book that seemed to not be as well thought out. I felt that there needed to be a bit more interaction with the "villain" in this series. While it is a romance, there is a thread of suspense underlying this book. There were a few scenes with this person, but it didn't seem to play as big a role as I felt it should have. At least, with the seriousness of the events towards the end of the book.

I did like the sex scenes. I thought they were well written, but at times I almost felt that there were too many. I wanted to see more serious conversations between Emma and Beckett, and also some more with Emma's daughter, who seemed to be a bit of an afterthought at times. There are particular scenes that take place in every book that I don't feel need to be there. I feel like there should have been new places involved, rather than revisiting the same ones. There was one scene in particular that I truly didn't care for, although the author explains why it occurred later on, I still felt it was uncalled for.

I think that it is clear that the author did some research for this book, because the technical, scientific stuff is well written. I think that it was plotted well, but it just needed a bit more. There were also several editing issues in this book. At times I felt that the book was a bit long and drawn out, especially since the conflict was resolved very quickly. I also believe that books that portray a BDSM lifestyle, or similar tastes, should provide a warning to readers beforehand so they know what they are in for. Overall, I do recommend this book. I think that the author is going places, and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

Emmaline - Emma - Hart is a divorced single mum who is working as a freelance writer. She is a woman that is used to do everything on her own. Emma is confident and independent. She likes to be in control of every step in her life. Her self-esteem however was hurt by her ex-husband Tim who has accused her to be uptight and a prude in bed. One day Emma meets Dr. Beckett Black, a handsome and sexy urologist. She is supposed to make a marketing brochure for the practice he is working for. Beckett is fascinated by Emma's beauty and sharp wit. He makes her a lucrative offer - she should ghost write his father's memoir, who is a famous doctor on the field of cancer research. He spent years in the Amazon and made some ground-breaking discoveries that have been ignored by the media and pharmaceutical companies. Emma is mesmerized by Beckett's good looks and his dominant aura. She is intrigued by his offer and his obvious flirting and interest in her. She accepts the job and signs a confidentiality agreement, which not only includes the ghost writing but also her relationship with him. Little does Emmaline know that with signing this contract she has not only agreed to spend a lot of time writing Dr. Patrick Black's story but also with constantly pushing her boundaries with his charming and sinfully attractive oldest son. Can Beckett be more to Emma than just the rebound guy who is supposed to help her explore her sexual fantasies? Can he convince her to surrender to him and let him show her that deep down she is truly fearless?

In order to find this out, you need to read this amazing book. It has some twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

Emma's and Beckett's chemistry is off the charts, their mutual attraction undeniable. He helps her to discover and act on her deepest wishes, the ones she didn't even knew she had. Beckett is a demanding and ferocious lover with very specific preferences in the bedroom. He is hell bent to introduce Emma to this world and make her his. She is shy and a little bit unconfortable at the beginning but soon figures out that she wants and needs Beckett to guide her. She feels safe with him, which makes it easier for her to submit to him and his desire for her.

"What do you want?" I ask. "You," he says simply. "All of you, exposed and revealed only to me."

"Why me?" "I don't know what it is, but there is something primitive and fundamental between us that compels me to make you mine."

I recommend everyone to read this book. Be warned, it is scorching hot and you are going to fan yourself on several occasions. Beckett is going to steal your heart and you will fall hard for this sweet and domineering hero. Emma is strong and vulnerable at the same time making her an admirable and lovable heroine.

Thank you Brynley Bush for this great reading experience. You have a new fan right now! I'm definitely going to check out the other two books of the Black Brothers Trilogy!

Review books are so precious. More often than not I actively solicit them and some times they end up on my Kindle before the release date. However from time to time I have someone come to me and ask me to read their book for which I’m extremely humbled and grateful. This is such a book. Ms Bush contacted me in November and asked that I review her book. I’m now thrilled to pass along my impressions and feelings about this book.

This book is very much about new beginnings. Emma has spent the majority of her life looking out for others and is finally granted the opportunity to experiment not only for her professional career but in her personal life. The fact that this is a woman with a firm grasp on who she is and her responsibilities really resonated with me and helped me to appreciate not only her decisions but her attempt at being “free”. The fact that she is struggling in one area of her life just made her that much more of a woman I could go out for a cup of tea and a great long chat about our respective relationships or lack thereof.

Our hero is such a complex character that at first I was fearful we would only be given a sliver of the depth but thankfully as Emma learns then so do we as the reader. Before the end of the book I had run the gamut of emotions with Beckett: loved him, hated him, wanted Emma to never see him again but just as she was irresistibly drawn to his magnetism I was drawn.

When these two are in the same room together, Wow! Words fail to grasp the sheer level of heat that these two naturally exude and combustible when they are in the same room with each other. And Beckett does like to have control when they are together.

Every now and then a story such as this comes along and you truly enjoy it for the interactions and chemistry between the characters. However this story has depth and darkness for those longing to suppress this knowledge that had me on the edge of my seat hoping and praying that all would be sorted out by the end.

This is part of a series but is NOT a cliffhanger for those of you on the cusp of buying it.

Final Thoughts: If this sounds even remotely like a book you would enjoy that may I suggest, no recommend, that you click on one of these buy links because Beckett is one book boyfriend that you may not want to say goodbye to any time soon.

It has been quite a long time since I read and reviewed and erotic romance book. Well, first of all I’m back to my book obsession, meaning I kind of postponed reading manga to go back to my everlasting list of books. And well, I started this one by pure chance. How so? I have just finished reading Dauntless by Stacy Claflin and as it was in my kindle app, when I clicked on Library, Fearless was just staring at me, with the next 2 books in line. I remember I got the whole series a long time ago, but then something happened and I just didn’t read them. But my curiosity piqued I started reading.

I liked it, even though it made my very dormant super feminist to shout, I still enjoyed it. I liked how the author mixed the real life, suspense and of course sex. What I mean here is that mostly when the author is writing an erotica he/she forgets that it’s an erotic romance, not just retelling of how, where and for how long the sex between two characters was. Essentially I want to read about the sex, heck, that’s the reason why I even buy and read these books, but just think about it, I want some normal interaction between the characters too. I want to have an idea about them. Maybe I’m asking too much, but then again, I do find the books that suit my requirements and Fearless is just right. Okay, super dominant alpha-male could have been a bit less dominant. But I still liked Beckett Black. Yes, he was too overpowering, but at the same time he was perfect for Emma. I liked their couple. Even though I sometimes wanted to slap him, the book held my interest and I wanted to know what was going to happen next.

The whole “suspense” and the secrets were really well planted into the book. I really didn’t think I would be on edge doing the last 5 chapters, but I was proven wrong and sometimes I like being wrong, especially if this brings me a feeling of exhilaration. Are you ready to explore the world of BDSM with Emma and Beckett? No worries you’ll be put into it as gently as possible. Are you to stretch your limits? Or are you like me just content reading about it? Nevertheless, you’ll first need to grab your copy!

Enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thoughts below! Stay tuned for more reviews as well as promos. I’ll be reviewing the next 2 books in the series very soon! Don’t miss your next favourite book or manga! Happy reading!

I won this in a goodreads giveaway.

Emma Hart typically write articles and brochures. She meets Dr. Beckett Black while on assignment, to learn that he has some control issues. But he's not such a scary person. He's researched her work and wants her to write his father's memoir, as long as she's willing to sign a confidentiality agreement. That's not an issue. What I found to be an issue was that he wanted her to sign one for their relationship.

Red alarms rang in my head and I feared this would be some junk like 50 Shades. I had the taste of bile but wanted to give the book a chance.

I'm glad I did. The confidentiality agreement was to not publish anything about their relationship. Beckett is fine with Emma talking to her friends and daughter about him. In fact, he embraces their companionship as well. He makes sure that the BDSM he brings into the bedroom is something Emma wants, and gives her a safe word in case she wants out. It's nothing too extreme, really.

What irritated me is when he demanded ridiculous things and Emma went along. Like he forbade her from getting a tattoo but dragged her into a sex toy shop which she was clearly uncomfortable with. Or she wanted to get dressed at home and his idea of compromise was buying her sex toys. That just makes no sense. His demands made me roll my eyes, and I'm glad Emma did so too.

The language is not too ridiculous like you see in a lot of romance novels. And there was legit plot that wasn't tossed to the side for sex. It was an intriguing story.

Her ex was also ridiculous and didn't seem to have grounds for calling her a slut when he found her hugging Beckett. At the end, everything fell into place.

There really does need to be a disclaimer as to whether or not certain medical advances or observations are real. I don't think they are, but something needs to be solid so that people don't start eating or doing things if it's not legit medicine.

Emma and Beckett are a couple that I will not soon forget.

Emmaline Hart is a single mom who is a freelance writer. She does everything from magazine articles to brochures for local businesses. She meets Dr. Beckett Black when she goes to show her latest brochure to a doctor who practices with Dr Black.

Their connection is instant and HOT! After only 2 dates, Emma’s thoughts are seriously in the gutter, so to speak:

I absolutely shouldn’t sleep with him on what is technically only our second date, but the long repressed reckless part of me is not listening. That part is reminding me that I have put myself and my needs second for thirteen years and I deserve this. I also want it more than I have wanted anything in a long time. For once, I’m determined to allow myself and indulgence, and this sexy, powerful man is definitely an indulgence.

Their relationship is fast and furious and Beckett almost always says just the right thing.

I hope I have ruined you for any other man, because I don’t intend to share you. Contrary to your opinion of me, I do not take that many women to bed, and I have never for a second thought of you as a conquest or a challenge.

I love finding new authors who can give me the Alpha male with a strong female counterpart. I like characters who see growth thru the novel and for a story to really go somewhere. Brynley did
just that!

Even when Emma doubts herself and their relationship, Beckett is able to show her just how much he values her...while also putting her in place:

“I can assure you, Emmaline, that while I think you’re many things, including frustrating, opinionated, independent, intelligent, beautiful and sexy as hell, breakable is not one of them.”

I really loved this book, including the twist towards the end, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a book about a strong woman who loves her alpha man.

Emmaline is a woman of strength, courage. As a divorced mother balancing a career and a teenage daughter and a jerk of an ex that leaves her no time for herself. She focuses on only her daughter and career never being selfish or thinking of her own wants or needs.

Beckett is a doctor that exudes confidence dominance and sexiness!

Beckett learns of Emma as she has been contacted to work for the doctor’s office making some marketing items. Upon meeting her Beckett decide that Emma would be a great candidate to help his father write his memoirs.

What starts out friendship quickly advances to attraction by both Becket and Emma. The two decide to take things to the next level. But what level is that exactly? Is this a level that Emma wanted? Was she ready and willing to seen where this new road will take her? Beckett somehow draws out the needs and wants in Emma that she never knew she had wanted or needed in her life.

What I loved about this book was the gentle way Beckett eased Emma in to the new ideas made her want to explore them. He never forced them upon her never made it shady or dirty. Once Emma open up there is something that is untapped in her that make her want more.

This is a beautiful story of finding love again after a marriage but more than that it is about finding someone that makes you want to love and explore again.
There is another whole story beside the wonderful sex life that these two experience going on as well. There is an interesting plot line that slowly emerges and encompasses these character so much that lines get blurred love gets questioned. Just when you think it will all be ok you are slammed with another obstacle!

I loved this book and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

So, mainly this was a bit cheesy for my liking, however the sex scenes were ok, but then towards the end it got truly dire, I nearly didn't finish it, so for that, it gets 2 stars.

This book, was seriously smokin’ HAWT. This is a BDSM themed book, and if this is something that is not within your personal comfort zone, then I would recommend not reading this series. Each book is a standalone, there is enough back story in each book that the reader would be caught up if she didn’t read the book prior, so reading the trilogy is not necessary, but why would the reader not want to read all three books about hot sexy men?

I’m going to start out with Beckett first because he is just so delicious. He really is just so dominant, and sexy alpha male. He demands respect, but he also gives it as well. He doesn’t ask for what he won’t return to his lover. He has an interesting backstory, that the reader will be privy to about midway in the book, which explains a lot of his dominant tendencies. He has a huge heart, loves without reservations, is caring and compassionate, and has a lot of self- discipline. These are qualities that make him a great doctor as well as a great dom. Emma is a lucky woman.

Emma is a woman who has been taking care of everyone in her life, except herself. I know this was stated in the excerpt, but I needed to reiterate it here, because she really doesn’t know how to let go of her responsibilities, but wants to learn how. She is loving, caring, compassionate, and take charge with certain aspects of her life.

I loved how reserved Beckett was in the beginning, until he and Emma broke the ice and started talking and getting know each other. Beckett isn’t threatened, or intimidated by a women who will let him know what she likes and doesn’t like either in or out of the bedroom. He’s also smart enough not to make the same mistake with her twice. He’s a smart man. I wish he were real…
