Every time Alies smells Attar’s musky perfume, something goes wrong — immediately!
“It reminds me of… misfortune. Musk and misfortune.”
As a contract worker at Eau d’Amour, Alies Anggia is all about creating scents that linger. But nothing lingers quite like her boss, Attar Hadi. With his sharp suits, brooding silence, and a “profile” that everyone seems to gossip about, Attar is the epitome of mystery. He’s everything she isn’t— reserved where she’s outgoing, solitary where she thrives in a crowd.
Alies has never been in love. Attar has... more than once.
She tells herself she won’t fall, not for him. Never for him. Yet his presence pulls her in, subtle and intoxicating, just like his scent. Every stolen glance leaves her breathless in a way she never expected and her heart races when his musky cologne wafts through the air—despite knowing it’s been a recipe for disaster since the first day.
In a world where scents fade, can their story be one that lasts?

“A story that invites you into a world where every scent tells a tale. One that may linger in your mind, or heart." — Aminesamae, Editor
I honestly can’t stand the way her mind keeps revolving around him in the first 300 pages. I actually liked the writing but it lacks depth in the characters and emotional aspects.
The girl was annoying and always acted like she was the main character (obv she is but still)—it’s just so irritating. The mmc wasn’t even that good tbh. Nothing stands out about him except being ‘exceptionally good looking’ and having a ‘signature perfume smell’.
I really don’t understand why would the fl hates the ml so much when she doesn’t even know him that well on first part of story?? I try to pinpoint or find the exact reason why she ‘dislikes’ him that much other than ‘yadah yadah im just a regular nobody girl that doesnt seems so important to anyone’ while u literally just started working??
Okay i get it maybe low self esteem crisis, but suddenly she catches feeling and have mini crush on your own boss (yeah i get it its complicated but again, where does those hatred has gone?). All of a sudden with zero character emotional in-depth and suddenly thrown us with all the main reasons why the mc like that, we’re supposed to be okay with how the story goes?
Kudos to the author for writing this in full English because it wasn’t an easy job to do so. That’s where writing from a singular pov comes challenging too bcuhs throughout the whole story, i got annoyed by the mc. Not to mention the repetitive long inner dialogue that made me this close of having to dnf this book. Such a waste of potential with all the characters that was introduced, none was prominent enough to leave a good impression of relate-ability with reader. Dia mcm karakter main lalu with no purpose.
I know falling love can be so hard especially coming from southeast asian culture. But hey, i was taken quite in shock by the end of the story when suddenly after all those fight because of MISCOMMUNICATION, suddenly will you marry me? Call me old school, but it’s quite unsuitable within a culture no matter how adjustable one try to imply by having your loved ones to be witness like all of a sudden we all cool and lets get married?
Sadly, because of the high expectations i had on this 402 pages, i have to give it 2.5 star.

Alies has never been in love. Attar has...more than once. She tells herself she won't fall for her boss. Never. Yet his presence pulls her in, subtle and intoxicating just like his scene.
This is the second book that I've read from this author. An expected, I really loves her writing in this book as well. It's beautifully written. Like the way the author describes Attar's personality through scent of perfume is so captivating.
However, I do feel that some scenes were a little over-described especially the ones where Attar’s personality is repeatedly tied to the scent of musk every time Alies meets him. After a while, it felt a bit repetitive.
Still, I really enjoyed the vibes and the concept of the story, which revolves around perfume. The author didn’t just mention perfume, she explored it in depth. From the scents, to the details of their job scope at the office. It wasn’t just surface level at all, which honestly amazed me.
Reading this book totally feels like watching an office romance Kdrama. Just that this book doesn't have much cute and fluffy kdrama moment. Because it's slowburn to the moment that it can make you frustrated a bit.
You know that feeling when both main characters clearly have feelings for each other, but keep denying them? When the slowburn is actually burning, that's enough to make you gigling and blushing. 😩🦋
I thought everything would end peacefully once they got together… but nope. There’s conflict too. I kind of understand Alies's feeling because it's her first relationship after all. Of course she's tend to overthink about their relationship. But Attar, I could see his effort. He's fighting for their relationship.
Overall, I like this book. Especially when the romance part that it's not cringe, it's slowburn and giving the office romance Kdrama moment. - Personal rating: 4.7/5 ⭐
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! This is the best office rom-com. There's just a little angst, not too much, but hello Mr. Attar, I wasn't aware of your game. The amount of time I spent smiling and giggling is not healthy. And Alies? She's so me, relatable, a professional overthinker, hahaha. As for Sera, I hate her with every fiber of my being, and the history between her and Attar hurt me more than any of my situationships. But don’t worry, Mr. Attar is loyal to Alies. That being said, GO READ THIS BOOK!!! 😩🎀
