Sundered Heavens

Rate this book
Ten Gods rule the Eonia Realm together—but a prophecy is about to change everything.

When a vision foretells the extinction of every Being on Aveesh, Asteria is thrust back into the inner workings of the Gods—an arena she wants nothing to do with. As the Gods fracture into warring factions and an unknown illness spreads through the human villages, tensions rise, and the fragile balance between humans and powerful Beings teeters on the edge of collapse. Some whisper of prophecy, others of conspiracy, but one thing is Aveesh stands on the precipice of chaos.

A powerful seer burdened by glimpses of the future, a queen caught between loyalty and survival, an immortal forced to reckon with the truth of her own destiny, and a goddess forced to stand as a mediator between warring immortals—all desperate to maintain balance. As Paths intertwine, their bonds and the foundations of immortality itself will be tested.

With Fate unraveling and betrayal lurking in every shadow, Asteria must decide what she’s willing to risk to protect the world… and the man who is tempting her to leave it all behind.

Sundered Heavens is the first book in a dark epic fantasy romance duology that follows the tales of the Gods when a prophecy goes terribly wrong, leaving humans as victims of divine wrath. It combines the romantic tension of FOURTH WING with the heavy lore and world-building of GAME OF THRONES and the war and politics of THE POPPY WAR.

3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ this was solid and major world building that I felt myself losing interest just because it was hard for me to follow especially in between the multiple POVs. More of a me problem I guess. I like where the story was going for sure I just caught myself really going back in between some chapters to really understand what was going on.

I loved Katie’s Sirians series, so I knew I was gonna eat Sundered Heavens up—and did 😌🍽️.

The first 20% leans heavy on world building, but it's completely necessary, beautifully done, and sets the series up perfectly. And the magic system is so unique, which was refreshing!!

We get 4 POVs, and Asteria & Phoebe's were my faves—I’m rooting so hard for those sisters.

Asteria and Mr. Orwell “Eyes on me, Blue” Carraphim though? They have my WHOLE HEART 🥹 Their slow burn was the sweetest mix of banter, chemistry, flirting, and TEACHING 👀 (I was going feral 👹). The Sybil, Piers, Gavril situation? Yeah 👀🍿 I've got my popcorn and I'm scurred. Oh! & all our FMCs are over 30, which I loveee 🤌🏻

If you’re a Romantasy fan who isn’t afraid of a little world building, this one is a must-read! Cannot wait for the next book!!

Read if you enjoy:
-Warring gods and kingdoms
-Grumpy x sunshine
-Age gap (she's older)
-Unique magic system
-Morally grey characters
-Slow burn
-Multi POV

This story is so epic! I loved it so much. This felt like Kingdom of Ash level epicness (I’m making that a word) with the gods on the brink of war, mysterious illness spreading, multiple kingdoms to consider, and chaos about to overtake the world. I felt every single emotion that exists while reading this book, and the last 15% had me feeling like either throwing up or crying my eyes out…or both. It was INTENSE and I just know the next book will devastate and wreck me in the best possible way.

I loved getting multiple POVs from 4 very badass women, they all have different strengths, backgrounds, and personalities, and I love them all so much. Oh and did I mention they’re ALL over 30?? Yeah. It’s awesome. One of them in particular gets a major Badass moment that I am dying to scream to someone about…and I may have a girl crush on her because of it. 😏

The main romance of Wells and Asteria is a sloooowwwww burn, but I absolutely LOVED how they had REAL, MEANINGFUL, conversation to get to know each other. Wells is the biggest green flag who comes in and slowly takes down the wall Asteria has spent over a century building.

I also loved the relationships outside of the romances! The friendships, the tricky familial relationships, they all felt so realistic and relatable even though these are gods or Demi gods, and I loved the conversations and hashing out that happened throughout the course of this book!! Very, very well done.

Ok and we gotta talk about the world and the magic too! Loved it! The world building was strong without being overwhelming, and the magic system is so freaking cool!!!

I really need you guys to read this when it comes out cause I need some therapy! 😭 I need book 2 desperately, I’m ready to be shattered!!

Loved this book! I loved seeing things from four epic FMCs POVs and the dynamics between all the characters. I absolutely love that they all wrestle with choices throughout the book that are difficult and sometimes have no right option. I’m excited to find out what happens next!!

Sundered Heavens wastes no time throwing you into turmoil. The world is built on tense alliances between gods and mortals, but a prophecy of extinction sends everything spiraling. From the first page I felt the enormity of this world, along with betrayal, shifting loyalties, and divine politics all colliding at once. I kept reading because I needed to see just how tangled it would all become.

The cast is large but handled well. Our lead, Asteria, carries an impossible weight on her shoulders. She knows of an impending doom, wrestles with moral questions about gods and humans, and still clings to the hope that something better is possible. Around her are other powerful women with very different personalities and motivations. Each one feels shaped by loss, fear, or duty in their own way. Together they create a dynamic mix of strength, doubt, and quiet resilience that I found deeply compelling.

The pacing mostly holds strong. There are bursts of chaos and rising danger that feel urgent, followed by quieter moments of reflection, negotiation, and fear. A couple of the early sections felt heavy with information as the rules of the world were introduced, but once the story finds its rhythm, the tension never truly lets go.

The worldbuilding is bold and layered. Immortal beings, divine politics, mortal fragility, prophecies, and a crumbling balance between realms all work together to make the stakes feel huge. Even with such a grand setup, the story stays grounded through personal conflicts such as guilt, loyalty, grief, and hope. That balance is one of the book’s strongest achievements.

Some of the big confrontations and revelations move quickly, and I would have loved to linger in those feelings a bit longer. Still, the strength of the characters and the weight of the story easily carry the momentum forward.

Sundered Heavens delivers high fantasy scale, complicated choices, and characters you want to see survive the storm. It is an intense and emotional opening to the duology, and I am more than ready to continue this journey in book two.

This was a tough read for me but damn that cliffhanger! I definitely will be reading book two!

The tension, the slow burn. Man!

My only issue was all the third person POV and many POV.

There is spice as well!

4.5 stars!

I was fortunate enough to receive an eARC of Sundered Heavens by K. M. Davidson and man, was it a fun read! This book has multiple POVs, a unique magic system, world building, relationship building, well-earned spice, and an exciting plot. The first book ends on a strong cliffhanger, so I al DYING for the next book in this duology.

I love a multiple POV book! The FMCs are true badasses. They all had great strengths and unique personalities. I appreciate that they are all 30s or older, which is a breath of fresh air with a romantasy story. K. M. Davidson does a wonderful job of hinting at relationship backgrounds and how they will come to build in the story.

The love interests? Amazing. Wells has made his way up on my book boyfriend list. Talk about a green flag guy. The tension was tensioning and the yearning was SO good. And they had deep, meaningful conversations to build their relationship? Ugh, the best.

Another strong point of this book was the world building. You dive in head first and may feel like you’re drowning, but everything gets explained well within the context of the plot. The world building does not feel like an info dump and is very digestible. It also allows for the second book to have so much material to work with.

Read this book. You won’t regret it! I’ll be (not so patiently) waiting for book two!

This was EPIC and Katie can do no wrong, add this to your TBR!!!

Full review to come 🙌🏼

—————————

Katie once again absolutely delivered with this masterpiece!!! The world building was fascinating and gave so much insight for The Sirians Series. Absolutely loved meeting these characters and learning all the history, and getting to learn it from 4 bad*ass female POVs made it even better.
The banter, tension, relationships, all of it, had me on the edge of my seat and just devouring this book. Met my newest book boyfriend in this book and guaranteed when you meet him you will also love him. Because who does not love an absolute cinnamon roll simp of a man who is down bad for a bad*ss woman???

Overall, this book was a ride and the type you get off, go back in line, just to get right back on because you need more of it IMMEDIATELY. I will be dreaming of book 2 for the foreseeable future.

I could write so much more, but no spoilers from me and these quotes and tropes really speak for themselves, GO ADD THIS TO YOUR TBR!!!

✨Sundered Heaven✨

I have loved everything I have read by Kim and this first in her newest duology (set in the same realm as her Sirians series) continues the streak! I have seen her writing grow SO MUCH and, if you’re looking for an author who will give you equal amounts of deep lore, intrigue, and romance while balancing hard topics, so much swoon, and banter, then you’re going to want to invest in Kim’s work!

SH follows multiple third person POVs from four bad*ss fmcs: 2 goddesses, a dragon shifter, and a demigod queen. These POVs, while intricate and interconnected, flow and converge seamlessly. Each character has a relationship with the other (positive and/or negative) and it was so fun learning and spending time with these females. The first 30% gives us a solid foundation as we then embark on a high stakes prophecy gone bad and looming war. Our fmcs are tested in their faith, hope, trust, strength, and love. Their moral compasses are challenged, their paths are catching up to them and volatile, the villains are chaos, and the men are to die for.

We get to explore several different kingdoms and realms as our main FMC, Asteria, is tasked with acquiring more allies. During this time she is reluctantly paired with a sunshine boi who has all the green flags, sees her for who she is, and challenges her in the best way. A golden retriever with a filthy mouth, that burn is SO SLOW but the payoff is WORTH IT- and even more than that, the relationship that is built during that burn is for keeps.

There’s magic, mythical creatures, corrupt gods, morally grey and black characters, and so much banter. Y’all, I can’t wait for book two.

Tropes you might find in SH are forced proximity, reverse age gap, meddling gods, golden retriever MMC with all the green flags, soft fmcs, multi POV and romance, unique magics, political intrigue, grumpy x sunshine, banter, found family, slooooow burn to medium spice, reluctant allies to lovers, and nicknames.

Kim, it’s an honor to arc read for you again. Thank you for this opportunity and I can’t wait for more!

✨I went into Sundered Heavens mostly blind, trusting that if I signed up for the ARC I was probably going to enjoy it, but I didn’t just enjoy it. I loved it.

📖 This book is an absolute banquet of tropes: a wildly unique magic system and hierarchy, banter stacked on banter, lovers-to-enemies, and the-slowest-slow-burn-you-can-imagine, reluctant allies to lovers, morally grey chaos gremlins, and a grumpy/sunshine dynamic powered by fire, light, and shadow. Also: mythical creature shifters. And spice. Tension spice.

🌀Asteria, our main character (and unapologetically powerful god who would rather not be treated like one), is phenomenal. But the side characters are just as vivid, layered, and addictive to follow.

And can we talk about the multi-POV lineup of badass FMCs? Davidson understood the assignment.

💕Two of my favorite tropes — feminine rage and found family — are delivered here in absolute abundance. The prophecy-gone-wrong threads, the age-gap dynamic (with her being older, which I love), and the way the plot… well, plots.

🧭 Everything comes together in a way that feels meticulously crafted without ever being confusing. Yes, there’s a map and a lineage chart up front; yes, I skimmed them; no, I never got lost.

🌊 The worldbuilding depth is serious, but the storytelling pulls you along effortlessly.
It’s not a short book, but wow, every page was worth the ride.

🩶 If you love morally grey characters, intricate worldbuilding, slow-burn tension you can taste, and female characters who could burn down the heavens with a smile, this one needs to be at the top of your list.

I read this as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I WANTED to love this book. It had all the right ingredients, but it was just a miss for me. And I'm just so bummed because it has a lot going for it. I think the world building is top notch. It's complex and detailed. Unfortunately it was a little too detailed all at once. We got a word build dump all in the first quarter of the book. We got introduced to a ton of characters, some of them irrelevant in the first 25%. And it made it really confusing. I got pulled out of the story because I was constantly going back to the guide at the beginning. And I had to write down a family tree. I think if it had been spread out throughout the book I would have appreciated it way more. Because the concept really is fantastic.

And because all the world building was stacked, we didn't get a lot of character building. I didn't really even have an emotion for any of the character until the last 25% of the book. If there had been more in the beginning, I think I would have really enjoyed it because by the end, I started getting invested in a couple characters, but only towards the end.

I think if the story was blended better between world building and character building, this would easily be a 5 star read because it's got everything it needs to be an epic fantasy read.

UM OKAY 👏 👏
On the brink of war. Multiple kickass FMC. BLUE, GO CRAZY. WELLS, WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE! 😭🥹

This is not your typical romantasy book and I loved every minute of it. When you first start out you’re thrown into a world of POVs and many characters so get ready for it! After 100 pages or so you get into the groove of who everyone is and why they matter. Cause they all do. I got sucked into it….and then came Wells….I mean….I’m not going to spoil it but just be ready for your heart to be captured. Banter, tension, she’s old, he’s young (done perfectly I might add!), all the Gods, and all the humor and all the goodness!

WELL DONE, K.M Davidson. You crushed it and your world crushed me in the best of ways.

My first ARC read was fantastic and I can’t wait to buy this book for my shelf!

This book completely pulled me in and did not let go.

The world is dark, beautiful, and layered with tension, and the magic feels dangerous in the best way. What really made this story stand out for me was the emotional weight behind everything — the loss, the choices, the relationships. Nothing felt easy, and that made every moment hit harder.

The characters are messy, complicated, and easy to get attached to, which made the stakes feel even higher. And that ending? I just sat there staring at the wall for a minute after I finished.

If you love emotionally charged fantasy with high stakes, slow-burn tension, and a dark, immersive world, this one is absolutely worth the read.

Tropes & Vibes:
✨ Dark fantasy
✨ High stakes
✨ Slow-burn tension
✨ Found family energy
✨ Dangerous magic
✨ Emotional damage (the good kind)
✨ Messy, morally gray characters
✨ Destiny vs choice

First of all, huge thanks to K.M. Davidson and the team for the e-ARC 💌 It was such an honor to dive into this story before release!

I really enjoyed this book. At first, I was a bit unsure about the multiple POVs, but I ended up loving them. The four female characters we follow are fierce, complex, and absolutely feral (in the best way).

I’ve rarely read a book where the female characters (and here, there are four of them!) are such total badasses. They don’t need a man’s help or permission to defend themselves or take action. Each one shows how a woman can be strong, independent, unapologetic, clever, resilient, and brave—while still being vulnerable and human. It was so refreshing to see them owning their choices and their power.

The worldbuilding is fascinating—Gods and Goddesses rule, while humans and other beings live fully aware of their existence. Everything seems balanced… until a prophecy shatters it. Suddenly, humans become the target of divine wrath, and their survival looks nearly impossible—unless some of the Gods themselves decide to side with them.

One of my favorite POVs was Asteria, a Goddess who tries to stay in the shadows, refusing to choose between her family and the humans. But when her fate becomes entwined with that of a mortal, everything changes.

And can we talk about the tension between the love interests??? The yearning and the spice were everything! 😍 That scene in particular—

“You’ve truly earned your nickname,” Wells said, lowering to his knees beside the bed. She frowned, but he pushed her dress up further and added, “Now, be a good girl and spread your legs.”

Also… can we have a moment for the fact that the FMCs are wayyyyy older than their male love interests??? Finally, a story where the men are mortal and the women are the immortal, powerful, older ones. It’s such a refreshing twist, and I absolutely loved seeing the dynamic flipped like this. 👀✨

🔥🌶️

Overall, it was a wonderful read, full of tension, plot twist and powerful female voices. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series!

This book takes you on a journey through worlds layered with magic, mystery, and emotion. It’s a slow burn in every sense—building tension not only between characters but within the story itself as secrets, betrayals, and unexpected alliances unfold. The author masterfully weaves multiple paths and personalities together, creating a rich tapestry of connection, conflict, and eventual healing.

I loved how the relationships felt raw and real—messy at times, but full of heart and growth. Every twist kept me guessing, every turn revealed a new truth, and by the end, I was completely invested in what’s to come.

A beautiful beginning to a series that promises even deeper emotional journeys and magic ahead.

4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sundered Heavens is dark, emotional, and had me in it once I found my rhythm. The world is rich, the tension is constant, and Asteria + Wells? Their banter and green-flag energy fed me!

My only issue was the amount of POVs is super confusing at first. But once I got the hang of it, I was hooked.

The lore is deep, the stakes are high, and that ending had me staring at the wall like “rude.”
If you love emotional, slow-burn romantasy with powerful FMCs, it’s definitely worth the read!

Did someone say epic, fantastical soap opera with gods, magical beings, oodles of drama, and slow-burn sexual tension galore?! Because Sundered Heavens absolutely delivers. 😮‍💨✨

This book was a wild ride—the world of Aveesh is far-reaching and intricate, the magic system is compelling, and let’s just say… the divine beings definitely have too much time on their hands. 😂

A prophecy threatens the balance between worlds, sending gods hurtling toward war and intertwining the fates of beings across Aveesh. Multiple storylines follow a cast of unforgettable characters, gradually weaving together as the stakes rise and tension builds.

The drama be dramaing.
This was such a fabulous introduction to a rich and chaotic world, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds in the conclusion.

Also, I’ll never get enough of Asteria and Wells. Mwah. 💋

If I could only use one word to describe this book it would be - EPIC.

The world and lore that K.M. Davidson has constructed is truly impressive. She has such a knack for creating immersive worlds, ripe with magic, conflict, and swoon-worthy romance. This story introduces us to a large cast of characters, each one with a uniquely distinct voice. The stakes are high and every single move these characters make throughout the story feels relevant and important. I could not put this down and I can't wait for book 2!

Note - I call this a "trust the process" book. There is some heavy world-building up front and you will probably be confused. Please just trust the process and let the pieces fall in place. It will all make sense and will be so worth it!

Note #2 - This duology is part of the overall universe that also includes The Sirians Series. You DO NOT need to read The Sirians Series to understand or enjoy Sundered Heavens. The events in Sundered Heavens take place prior to the events in The Sirians Series. But if you start here, I highly suggest going *there* next.

I was a beta reader and received a physical ARC from the author. This review reflects my honest thoughts and opinions.

CW: violence, spice, racism/species-ism, reference to/attempted genocide, some others

Thank you to the author for the ARC! “Sundered Heavens” is available now!

I was on track to finally get ahead on my reading schedule…until I wasn’t.

When a prophecy foretells the elimination of every Being, the gods take it as a sign to eliminate the humans that predate their creations. Most of the gods, anyway. Asteria wants to be left out of it. Sybil foresaw the end and aims to stop it. Morana has found herself in the middle, where she never wanted to be. And Phoebe just wants to keep her kingdom, and her family, safe.

I’ve been putting off writing this review for two days now. I told myself it was just because I’ve been busy, which is partially true, but mostly I’ve just been unsure of how I wanted to approach the review. Did I enjoy the book? Yes, most definitely (and mainly because of the interpersonal character dynamics). But I’m also so confused by this book, because why did it take me two weeks to read? Yes, it’s almost 600 pages, but that length is normally only a four day read for me. Some of that time was absolutely due to holiday chaos, but I really don’t know why it took me such a long time to get through the rest.

I have exactly three criticisms of this book. First (though these are in no particular order) is the preponderance of the word “deadpanned” in often incorrect instances. Second is the author’s almost exclusive use of the word “beige” to describe the MMC’s eye color (we get one or two explanations that this is meant to be hazel, but less green). And third is the fact that this book somehow took me two weeks to read, despite it being overwhelmingly engaging whenever I would pick it up (can you tell this part really threw me off?).

I won’t harp on point 3 any more, but the first two deserve some explanation. As to “deadpanned”: any word used in excess runs the risk of standing out, but this was particularly noticeable because it was used in numerous instances where it didn’t seem to match the vibe. While the use was “technically” correct, “deadpan” often carries a comedic connotation, and these were times when that was clearly not the case. Once might have been passable, but it seemed to be used here whenever the character needed a blank expression. And, regarding “beige,” I think that one speaks for itself. I absolutely could not take the MMC seriously when, in the midst of intensely emotional moments, the FMC was sitting there mooning over the man’s “beige hues.”

The beige thing was particularly disappointing because, other than that, I absolutely adored the MMC. He’s sweet, he’s funny, he’s charming in a fantastically not-slimy way; the man is literary gold. The banter? Immaculate. I’m in love with how he and the FMC interact.

The rest of the characters are just as lovely. Gavril is a complete menace and is definitely in the running for my top secondary character. The storyline is a little slow (which is fitting, given the “let’s do the politics to try and avoid destruction” thing tends to take some time), but engaging. I had a few difficulties with time jumps not being clear, but other than losing some of the weight of that passage of time it really didn’t affect the story; I could fairly easily jump back in and ignore that it had been months between chapters.

Overall, despite the aforementioned (actually relatively minor) issues, I really liked this book. I very much want to know how book 2 turns out– without giving away any spoilers, there are *things* hanging in the balance, and they need resolving. There were also some wonderful twists that I didn’t see coming and they had me stressing. I would love to be able to come back and try to read this one again before book 2, just so I can really sit down and enjoy it in a more condensed manner.

𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
First of all I would like to say thank you to KM Davidson for an e-ARC copy of Sundered Heavens! Despite being sent a copy of this novel, that will never alter nor influence my opinions on the novel or my review in any way.

I fell in love with this novel. I loved the characters, the love stories, the drama, the histories. I am a huge mythology and gods/goddesses/deities person so this really filled that for me. Every character served a purpose and the lore was rich. There was so much that took place before the main story’s conflict that set so many things in motion, and I loved how this novel was written to ensure you had the content for it.

I haven’t often read a novel with multiple POVs but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Each of these FMCs are unique and strong in their own ways, all facing similar issues to some degree in different aspects of their lives. I loved and understood so many elements of each of these women. Even our additional characters and side companions felt complex and unique, they all grappled with their own hurts, desires, loves, losses, etc.
I loved the world itself. Every area had its own differences and it’s own ways of life that again added so much to why characters were the way they were.

Obviously we know I LOVE Wells and Asteria. These two are everything and more, the banter.. The tension… the charm and flirting. PERFECTION. The dynamic between Sybil, Pieres, and Gav is also extremely interesting, I would love to see how that all plays out.

I will definitely continue with this duology. I would love to continue within this world and read more of KM’s work within this universe. I have fallen deeply for all of these characters, so it may be a bit of an adjustment for other bits of this universe. But I do love the way this is written and the depth of the novel.

𝙒𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙄 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙙: Yes! I think this novel would be best for someone who enjoys multiple POV epic dark romantasy styled novels. This novel has a lot of lore and histories within it, dynamics that are complicated for the characters to navigate, and so much drama between people within the universe. So I think this would appeal most to people who want a rich world, lots of POVs, drama between characters, and a novel that builds up the main story’s conflict in this novel and will conclude in book 2.

𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙄 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨: Absolutely. I need to see how this duology ends. That cliffhanger… I cannot imagine how that will continue and bring the prophecy to life or if there is a possibility it can alter it. I have had some theories since early on and I am still keeping a long list of them. I would also be interested in reading KM’s other novels that are within this same universe. I have grown extremely fond of these characters, so it may take me a bit to readjust to a new set of characters.

You are not prepared for the absolute CHAOS that is Sundered Heavens. I love the Sirian Series and thought I was ready for whatever K. M. Davidson had to throw at me-let me say, I was not. Not even close.

First of all, this book has a MAJOR cast of characters. I say that meaning that both there are vital characters to this universe, but also there are A LOT. At first, it took me a bit to get used to them and I feared I would fall into the trap of having a POV I dreaded...EXCEPT I DIDN'T. I found myself heavily invested in every POV and was dying to read more from each character.

Let's start with Asteria. Oh my gosh I love her. She is so strong both in her power and her mental. I dream of having her confidence.

Wells. I have nothing more to say than "daddy I love him." Okay, I have a lot more to say, but I keep my reviews spoiler free so...that's what you get.

Sybil is truly a goddess who will make you question everything you know. One moment you will be falling for her and the next you will be questioning who she really is. But despite all of that, she is truly a character I related to in that she STRUGGLES. She is always doing her best, but it never quite feels like enough.

MORANA. She is my QUEEN. Every character in this story is incredibly complex and well written but Morana honestly took the cake for me! I honestly don’t know how to talk about her without spoilers—but I can’t wait for you all to meet her!

One thing I absolutely LOVE in books is messy relationships—and this one takes the cake! There are messy family relationships, messy romances and even messy friendships. If you looooove the messiness of Greek gods then buckle up because you’re just getting started.

That being said, Wells and his partner healed my heart. I truly loved watching them grow together and fall for each other and I just need MORE of them. Seriously, their romance was spectacular.

I am a very character driven reader so when a story/plot completely enthralls me I know it’s an incredibly written one and I am happy to report that this story is one that had me STARVING for me! There were so many threads and subplots and honestly they all tied together beautifully.

Thank you SO MUCH K.M. Davidson for an early copy of this book. I truly enjoyed it with all my heart and cannot wait for the next book!

Well… that was epic. This stunningly written novel immediately pulls you into a richly imagined high fantasy world and refuses to let go.

After a devastating vision foretells the annihilation of every being except humans, the gods are divided. Some see no fault in humanity and begin searching for ways to outmaneuver or even rewrite the vision. Others believe the humans are responsible, and since they alone are left unscathed, they refuse to take the risk of letting them live, seeking to destroy them before the vision comes to pass. The time has come to choose sides. Where will you stand?

This book is pure high fantasy goodness. It does take about the first 100 pages to really get your bearings, but honestly, that is how I like it. There are numerous POVs, and with such a complex storyline, it truly helps weave everything together with clarity. Seeing the different sides of the conflict really helps round out the story and deepen the world building.

Once you get into the meat of the story, it becomes a brilliantly intricate tale filled with action, intrigue, and strong emotional connection. The variety of relationships is especially impressive, soap opera worthy and executed so well. There is a main romantic relationship between Asteria and Wells. Asteria is a goddess who has no desire to rule. She wants to live among her people, not be bowed to or worshipped. Wells is the spare heir, used politically for his charm and quick wit. Their connection is intense from the start, though Asteria is convinced she has no time for men. Too bad the dashing, handsome, and very persuasive prince is not taking no for an answer.

This book got me. I was emotionally invested from start to finish. It is very politically heavy, with constant maneuvering and more than a few bitter betrayals. The world and its characters feel fully realized, with an emotional and engaging story. I am officially invested, and I need more.

Well dang, this story just grabbed me and ran. I did not want to put this book down and I didn't want it to end!!! So many things are happening between the gods, the mortals, I just absolutely loved it all. The plot had me guessing what was going to happen next. Sundered Heavens just has what you want in a fantasy; betrayals, deception, bloodshed, friendship, loss, love, spice!!!

Wells is my absolute favorite character, well him and Asteria. Their budding romance is just beautiful. Wells just had me blushing and giggling and kicking my feet. He can be sweet and say just beautiful things and then the next page he has me blushing. I just love the change you see in Asteria the more she is around him. You can just tell they are meant to be and I just think they are the power couple. Love them.

It's been a while since I have read a story with an already established couple. I think Phoebe and Dustin have true and real love. They are willing to sacrifice so much for each other because they just couldn't imagine a world without that other. I think that is really beautiful.

Now Gavril is like my favorite of the side characters. He comic relief is perfection and he just is a massive flirt. I really love his dynamic with everyone and I have thoughts on what's going to happen with him and Piers but that will have to wait until the next book.

This book just kept me hooked. The utter devastation that happens is unreal. I was tearing up in the last few chapters cause those events were just a shock to the system. I desperately need book 2 to know how this will all end because right now, war has begun and the death toll is already climbing. Just an amazing read, really in depth characters, and a plot to keep you guessing.

Thank you so much KM for the advanced reader copy!

I am a big fan of the Sirian series and I love that this whole world is going to become a Multiverse. This will have to be read after the Sirian series for the full effect. I really love the way that KM built the world and had a whole explanation in the beginning about the Lyrans and the creation of the Andromedans and Sirians. The gods are all very interesting and I love how they have a terrifying god form and a beautiful human form. The storytelling like a classic high fantasy series. It’s definitely one of those series you study the glossary and come back to certain characters because there are a lot of them!

The story is told in third person POV from multiple characters. Two of my favorite side characters that had me laughing were Odo and Erika. I just love them. The romance in this story kept me very interested, and I found myself drawn to Asteria’s POV over the others. Asteria is a Lyran immortal and Wells is a human. Her relationship with Wells is hot and at times very tender. I love that he calls her Blue because of her blue flames. Around the 300 page mark is when a plot twist really shocked me, and I started becoming very nervous for some of the characters. At times I would have liked a little more conflict and action. The book is also her spiciest book yet. The ending also leaves you hanging in a way that you need the next installment in the story. I definitely think this duology is going to be a hit, and I can’t wait to see more of what the author does in the multiverse.

ARC review!

𝒮𝓊𝓃𝒹𝑒𝓇𝑒𝒹 𝐻𝑒𝒶𝓋𝑒𝓃𝓈 (4 ⭐️)

This is such a well-written romantasy that has me eagerly anticipating what’s next! You can really tell how much effort the author put into crafting the world and the relationships. Prepare yourself for an exciting adventure with a unique magic system and a gripping plot that thrusts you into a world where gods stand at the edge of war!

The four POVs from the powerful and badass fmcs were really interesting. I particularly loved Asteria's character! Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed by all the perspectives and information, but as I delved deeper into the story, I found myself completely invested and wanting more.

And speaking of Asteria, the romance between her and Wells has me on the edge of my seat! He’s the epitome of a green flag book boyfriend, and their chemistry is undeniable. I can’t help but anticipate how their relationship will progress further, especially with the tension and banter they've already shared. The way they communicate and work through challenges feels so genuine. Plus, the nickname Wells gave her? I’m absolutely obsessed!

With the magic, diverse gods and kingdoms, complex friendships, and the looming threats from villain gods, the drama is only going to intensify. I can’t wait to see where this goes! I’m so ready for book two already, and I have a feeling it's going to be even more gripping than the first.

Big thanks to author K.M. Davidson for the ARC! I’ve already preordered the physical copy and I can’t wait to hold it in my hands, reread it, and have it proudly displayed on my shelf!

ARC Review

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️

This book was absolutely phenomenal!! It’s High Fantasy with the epic and complex world building/magic. It has political intrigue, with all the different alliances, and kingdoms and the inner workings of them. It also has romance sprinkled through out. This book is just so in depth and thought out, and never felt info dumpy!!

I will say at first it is A LOT to take in, and was a bit overwhelming so definitely take it slow in the beginning so you don’t miss any important info and such! Once you get into the flow and get familiar with everyone it went by so so fast!

This is Multi- POV! There are 4 main characters we follow, and I will say I enjoyed everyone’s POV, seeing the different sides and perspectives really helped shaped the story and the world they are in! I also loved how they were all strong bad*as females that held the power, while Male interest were all mortal men! It was a great switch up!

I loved every single character in this book, even the bad guys! Every character was unique, had their own personalities and quirks. Their interactions with each other felt so natural, and flowed so good!

The pacing was great once I got in the swing of things and honestly by the end I wished this book was 1000+ pages cause I just never wanted it to end! I NEED to know how everything is going to play out cause that ending while not a monumental cliffhanger, definitely leaves a need for more of the story! I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next!

I had the honor to receive an ARC for this amazing book. Sundered Heavens is book 1 in an epic high fantasy/romantacy story. After finishing book 1 I can’t wait for the second book🥰.
This story is full of politics, complex familial bonds, love, friendship, chosen family and female rage (in the best way). It will give you all the feels.
A few things I loved are the 4! POV from strong and fierce women. “Why waste my breath on men who will never respect me.” I also loved the way we get to know the different important characters, the world building, the magic, good! Spice and the amazing green flag Wells. Seriously top 10 bookboyfriend material. “I don’t know if what I had was ever love. But this with you.. I choose this love.”
The story is well throughout, strong and ends in a cliffhanger🥺.
I did need some time to get into the story especially because of the enormous amount of information to digest and understand regarding the world, its inhabitants and the 4 FMC’s background and information. So please have a little patience at the start it is well worth it. I think it would have helped me if I read KM Davidson sirian series first but it isn’t a necessity in order to understand and enjoy this series.
Please keep in mind that this book is intended for mature readers. Check TW before reading because your mental health matters. Now please read this book as soon as it comes out it will not disappoint!
