The natural world has always captured his imagination and the supernatural world inspires his stories. Through his journeys, he’s interviewed scientists who’ve enlightened him, heard folk tales that have frightened him, and seen quite a few things that have challenged his skeptical mind.
His collection of short stories that weaves together the natural world and the supernatural world entitled, DREAD, is available on Amazon. He's currently working on his second collection entitled - CREEP.
In an unusual mix, this collection contains dark tales, one novella, a drabble, and a singular factual account with names and places changed for privacy purposes.
There are serial killers, strange creatures, an unexpected ghost story and supernatural events that should please any palate.
The author turns ordinary everyday situations, such as a quick stop for fast food or a visit to a mountain cabin, into hideous consequences.
I am not a flash fiction fan, and with a drabble being even shorter, that was the only part I could have done without. I am not usually a fan of stories told through emails or texts, but The Cabin, written in that style, turned out to be one of my favorites. It increased the suspense and created a scary, intense read. It made me feel like I was there and unable to help with a terrifying emergency situation.
Another favorite was the novella length story Breezy. You'll think twice before the next time you say it's only the wind!
A solid collection that plays with different shades of fear and evil. Bachar knows how to keep a story mean, fast, and soaked in unease.

Y’all! EVIL: Short Stories of Horror, Terror, and Fear by Kevin Bachar is bite-sized terror with a big, bloody punch. From a creepy ball pit snack attack (sorry Cassie 👀), to a bus ride with a side of pure nightmare fuel, to a mountain wind that’ll make your skin crawl, every story drags you into darkness and refuses to let go.
Bachar’s writing is razor-sharp and cinematic—you smell the grease of that rundown fast-food joint, hear the bus brakes squeal before all hell breaks loose, and feel that icy wind scrape down your spine. Each tale is tight, mean, and deliciously unsettling.
💀 The vibe: Goosebumps all grown up, with the volume cranked to 11. 💀 The pacing: Quick, nasty, and unforgettable. 💀 The effect: You’ll be locking your doors, side-eyeing playgrounds, and sleeping with the lights on.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Creepy, clever, and flat-out fun—Bachar doesn’t just serve horror, he plunges you headfirst into it. Pure evil never tasted so good. 👻🔥
How about Play Time Burgers: I know I won’t be jumping into any ball pits.
Bored: Sometimes being bored is a good thing.
Still Waters Run Deep: The lake is hungry and it demands to be fed.
Bus Load Of Trouble: Have you ever played the game where you are trying to guess what the person’s occupation? You never know who you’ll meet.
The Plan: Not every plan is a good plan.
I Dream Of Death: Is it a dream….or is it real?
The Shut In: Who tossed the mannequin onto the front porch?
The Cabin: Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Hello: Is a drabble, a one hundred word story.
Breezy: A Novella: I had an idea of what was going to happen and I know I would never want to be so isolated.
Evil is an anthology that contains nine short stories and one novella. Kevin Bachar can spin a terrifying tale and make you think twice about your preconceived ideas. Sometimes I laughed and sometimes I thought WT….
This is another fantastic collection of horror stories from Kevin. His easy going writing style pulls you into these stories, makes you comfortable for a minute before brutally pulling the rug out from under you!
I've always loved horror stories which feature everyday seemingly mundane things and turns them into something terrifying. I mean, a fast food restaurant's play area is the setting for one story. What could be more innocent than that? But in this author's hand, it becomes something absolutely dreadful.
From a literal killer wind to evil beneath the surface and ordinary people finding themselves in horrifically evil circumstances, these stories raise all the hair on the back of your neck.
Short stories really hit that sweet spot between all the novels and novellas you read. Bite sized pieces when you have a few extra minutes yet still carry the full effect of visceral chills. Definitely pick this one up and I highly recommend it.
