In a realm where women are forbidden to wield weapons, eighteen-year-old Emylia is anything but obedient. Fierce, untamed, and mourning the loss of the father who secretly taught her to fight, she walks a dangerous line between rebellion and survival.

But when a twist of fate awakens a power unlike anything the realm has seen, the fire beneath her skin becomes impossible to ignore. A force capable of reshaping the world now pulses inside her—wild, volatile, and tied to a legacy she never asked for.

To master it, Emylia must face truths as brutal as any blade. And when a dangerous, enigmatic stranger crosses her path—one who sees her not as a weapon to be silenced, but a force to be reckoned with—everything begins to unravel.

Especially when her heart already belongs to someone else: Sebastian, her loyal, fire-hearted best friend who knows every scar she hides… and is finally ready to claim her love.

As a warlord’s wrath threatens to engulf her village, Emylia must choose: surrender to the world that seeks to cage her—or rise and set it ablaze.

Power could save her. Love might break her.
But only she can decide which fire to feed.

Two hearts. One destiny.
Will she rise… or will her passion become her ruin?

*quick note* I read an early review copy of Emylia which has undergone changes before publishing so plot and character changes may have occurred that are not reflected here.

This book was an unexpected surprise. It went exactly where I predicted it would go but the story and how it got there was not at all how I imagined it would go.

This book feels like a coming of age story intertwined with what is going to be a high fantasy series.
There was a lot of world and character building in this one but it didn’t feel slow or boring. It has set up the next book perfectly- I mean those last 100 pages had my jaw on the floor! Too often in dark fantasy we don’t see carnage that directly affects the character directly, usually they see death or everyone luckily manages to escape unscathed while the rest of the village is in tatters. Nope. Not this one.

Emylia had times where I found her to be a bit sheltered and whiny but I think it fits her character well. Shes lived 18 years where everyone has been keeping secrets from her and she had this delusion of what her normal life was. I’m glad Oryeon’s arrival created the catalyst for change that she needed. I am not overly a fan of insta-lust/love in stories so that did grate me a little but overall I really do love them together. I love Jeremy. His character is fantastic even if he has somehow found himself in Josephine’s talons, typical male.

I loved the writing style. It was so effortless to read. I didn’t have to back track to remember the important pieces, they just stuck. The world building is clear and extensive and I cannot wait for book 2!

Thank you to Jasmin Oliver for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. This is my honest opinion.

Re read of the new published version May 2025.
🌶️CONTAINS SPOILERS 🌶️

I’ve cried, I’ve laughed, I’ve whooped when my not favourite got dumped the big narc head and than I’ve cried some more and I’ve read this book twice!

I loooooove this version better!!! This is so much better so much more detailed. In depth. It draws you in than spits you out a different person.

The spice is incredible 😉 🌶️

I didn’t think you could make the first version better but you’ve smashed this!!!!

emylia is so such an incredible character who suffers so much heart ache in such a short amount of time while learning to harness powers she didn’t even know she had to save her family and friends. Her life.

Emylia in the published version finds herself falling in love with 2 MMCs which girlies it gets hot 🔥 but who will she pick! Spoiler it’s my favourite 😂

This series has so many ways it can go I’m buzzing to read more!

5 massive ⭐️

Unpublished review march 2025

I wouldn’t just watch the world burn for you, I’d spark the damn flint myself and watch the whole fucking thing turn to ash, just for the chance to be with you.

WOW I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to have read this beautifully written book which follows emylia a young girl who has a whole lot of loss. Her world is heart breaking with lots of self doubt and a little bit of romance mixed in.

There’s some 10/10 🌶️ chucked in here too for all you girlies who like your pages warm!

Definitely a 5⭐️ romantasy read for me!

Ps need book 2 and also bookshelf trophy asap 😉

I am so happy I got to be an ARC reader for this book. Emylia had my interest from page one. The story centers around a young woman whose whole life has been centered around her family. She has a warrior’s heart, but is constrained by the strict rules from the gods, women are not to handle any type of weapon. Despite this the males in her family allow her to train with them in secret, as she is determined to protect her family with or without their help.

Emylia’s life starts changing after meeting a handsome stranger to her village. He’s inspiring emotions that are completely new to our FMC. Between those feelings and secrets that start to arise about who she really is, Emylia‘s world gets turned upside down.

This book had family, romance, some spice, a fierce warrior who becomes a protective puppy dog to the FMC, an FMC who is pretty kickass, and an ending that will break your heart. I can’t wait for the second book! This book is a “would definitely recommend!”

Emylia is our stubborn and strong minded FMC following along is her witty cousin Jeremy helping her to defy the rules, but also protecting her and not letting her get caught for fear of being branded and banished from Ophelia.
Maalikia is the handsome MMC who is a new comer to Ophelia and has eyes only for Emylia.
The world that Jasmine crates is one where I really enjoyed escaping into and is strong as I feel this is a story that has some ground involving mythology of Gods and Goddesses and a Magik element.
Very few books have gotten a reaction from me and this is one of them that hit me and left me numb.
Looking forward to reading the next chapter of Emylia and Maalikia and seeing how their story develops.
Thank you Jasmine Oliver for sharing your story with me it has been great first ARC read.

“I’d rather have a daughter who can stand her ground, even if the world calls her an outlaw, than one who is powerless in the face of danger.”

Women are forbidden to touch a weapon in Emylia’s home. But that didn’t stop her from learning. Self efficient, she is determined to do what she feels is right to help defend her home.

She is stubborn, tough, and can hold her own in a fight. But she is also kind and loving towards her family and friends.

I do not read a lot of “fantasy”. I tend to stick to thrillers and other romance books. But I told myself I was going to read more this year. So when I was asked to be an ARC reader for this, I was thrilled to say yes!

I very much loved to see how the characters connected. From the start, we see how much her father meant to her. How highly she thinks of her uncle and her cousin, Jeremy. We see how she is not your average female and can hold her own but she is still very much a girl trying to figure out her emotions and feelings. When she learns she has powers, we get to see her struggle with bits of it. It’s refreshing to see vs nailing everything right from the start.

Oryeon, our MMC, is everything you would expect. He’s protective, loving, patient and a perfect gentleman with her. He would do anything to keep her safe and has a way of helping her navigate everything she’s going through. He remains by her side and encourages her through her doubts and her fears.

I felt nearly every emotion reading this. Jeremy was the perfect cousin for her. Their banter was more like siblings compared to a cousin dynamic. As someone with this same dynamic with my younger cousin, I loved it. I also love how he helped her see her relationship with Oryeon to be something to embrace and not fear.

I am very much looking forward to the next book and for other people to read this as well. Overall I did give this 4 1/2 stars and I am very honored to have been selected to be an ARC reader for this. The storyline was easy to follow along with. I love how she included a map as well as pronunciations for the characters. Nothing felt too rushed or forced. Overall a very enjoyable read! I hope you enjoy this book!

So thankful to have had the opportunity to read this gem. Emylia is a fast-paced romantasy with a headstrong FMC, a touch of romance, and a little bit of mystery.

The world building isn't overwhelming, and the plot keeps you turning pages. If you enjoy morally gray characters and magical secrets, this one’s worth the read.

Read this if you enjoy:
• Morally gray love interest(s)🤭
• Chosen one
• Hidden powers
• Found family
• Slow-burn romance (leans why choose 🫣)
• Prophecy vibes
• Forced proximity

I was lucky enough to get this book as an ARC read after the author reached out to me (she is super sweet!).
First, this cover is absolutely beautiful, I can't wait to see it in print!

This book has magic, dragons, romance, and tragedy. Here is my honest review.

The great:
Pronunciation guide at the beginning - this was great! Even though the names were fairly easy to read, it was nice to have this, most don't do this
A map - tough to read on Kindle but a great addition in print
World building that was easily and very well explained-the world building in this book was not overly complicated-in places where additional explanation was needed, it was given. There was never any confusion over what was happening and I never had to go back - this is key in a fantasy read and much appreciated!
The overall plot - the story line captured me from the beginning and flowed easily. There were no gaps and everything made sense.
Character connections - I did feel like I connected with these characters
The ending - WHEW!! I was on the edge of my seat, very well done!! And shocking.

Reasons for deducting a star:
The romance between the FMC and MMC moved much too fast-I'm a slow burn girl and while I loved both main characters, it just seemed to happen so fast. But the spicy scenes were well written!
At times, the writing felt a bit off for me-we are immersed into this magical world, but then the language seemed rough and didn't quite fit in with the story line/timeline/expectation I had for what was happening. I certainly don't mind swearing in books, but the placement seemed forced and out of place - maybe too casual for the time period and world I had built in my head?

Overall, I did really enjoy this book and I am very much looking forward to reading book 2. I think with a bit of tweaking in the editing, this truly has the potential to be a top fantasy series!

Book Review: Emylia by Jasmin Oliver
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4.5/5)
🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3/5 spice rating)

Emylia by Jasmin Oliver was an absolute delight from start to finish. The chemistry between the main characters, Emylia and Oryeon, was electric and had me swooning. Their relationship was beautifully developed, with emotional depth that felt incredibly genuine. The spice level was just right for the story—perfectly complementing their evolving connection without overshadowing the heart of the narrative. It was a great balance and beautifully written.

What truly set this book apart was Oliver’s poetic writing style. The world she created felt alive and immersive, with each description painting a vivid picture that made the setting feel real. Emylia, a strong woman who, like many of us, doubts herself, is surrounded by amazing people who love and support her for just being her. The bond she shares with Oryeon is heartwarming, and I found myself completely invested in their love story.

And then there’s Jeremey—oh, his banter is absolutely infectious! His wit and humor added such a fun layer to the book, and I’m already starting a petition for him to get his own story. His presence had me smiling every time he appeared.

The story ends on a cliffhanger, and now I’m on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting the next installment. I can’t wait to see where the journey takes us. Emylia is a stunning, character-driven romance with just the right amount of spice. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a heartfelt, beautifully written love story!

DNF at 50%. I just can’t. I wanted to love it so much. These relationships and emotions are all over the place and don’t make any sense. I feel like sometimes the less is better. With so much focus on feelings towards a stranger the MMC met 5 hours ago, so much knowledge and understanding of a person she literally just met and her struggles who she loves now more… The whole world is lost. The plot is her rage, self loathing, and trying to choose between two boys, one of whom she just met. There somewhere is war, lost princess, occasional action after 260 pages of self pity and back to “who do I choose?” question…
I expected fantasy. When it’s 50% and there is still no action, nor fantasy world building, only rage and “who will I let to take my virginity?” with waking up tangled in one and following asleep with another in two hours.
These men - no respect, no boundaries, just pure “she’s mine, fuck off!” as if she is a race prise and she feeds their race. I let it wash over me for 300 pages. I scrolled for 150 more - the same goes on and on. I just can’t read more 360 pages of this…
Not for me.

✨ Book Review: Emylia by Jasmin Oliver ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

Emylia by Jasmin Oliver is a beautifully atmospheric story that blends mystery, magic, and self-discovery in a way that keeps you hooked from the very first page. The writing is lush and immersive, pulling you into a world that feels both haunting and hopeful.

One of my favorite aspects of the book was how well-crafted the characters are. Jeremy quickly became my favorite—there’s just something about his presence that stood out in the best way. I also really appreciated how Oryeon was always there for Emylia, offering unwavering support without overshadowing her own journey. However, I did feel that Emylia and Oryeon’s romance developed a little too quickly for my taste. I would have loved more build-up, but that didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed their dynamic.

Despite that, the story kept me engaged with its rich worldbuilding and emotional depth. There’s an undercurrent of tension throughout, making it hard to put down. And now that I’ve finished? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS AND NEED ANSWERS!! If you love character-driven fantasy with a touch of mystery and beautifully written prose, Emylia is definitely worth picking up.

As you can see by how fast I devoured this book. It was fabulous. The world building was detailed and the characters both angered and made me fall in love with them. By the time I got half way through it felt like I was still at the beginning I’d flown through it.

I can’t wait for the second in this series especially with how this one ended I have so many questions that need answers 🤦🏻‍♀️.

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because although I understand there are self-worth issues and I have them myself it actually made me realise how annoying it can be to constantly doubt your self like the FMC here. I got so annoyed with her I wanted to reach into the book and slap her about it. Also they say their names a lot in conversation which made it feel a little blocky in areas. We knew how they were talking to but the repeated use of their names took away some of the organic nature of conversation.

I was given this book as an ARC to review and I really enjoyed it!

I was nearly in tears before the first chapter was even finished! It had a really good amount of world building and a great way of making you feel connected to the characters!

I will say the FMCs insecurities did start to annoy me the closer to the end I got I hoped she would have had a bit more character development in that regard. I was hoping she would have fully adopted her ruthless persona but there is always book 2!

I think the book could have used a bit more drama throughout. The ending was very dramatic and shocking which I really enjoyed I just wish there was a bit more throughout the book as well!

I also really enjoyed how unique the magic was incorporated into the storyline! It was done in a way I haven’t experienced before!

Overall I think this is a really good book and I cannot wait for book 2!

What an epic start to this series!!

The heart breaking start that instantly drew you in with all of the feels!! OMG. I was so connected with Emylia instantly. From there it didn’t stop! The emotions this book made me feel along with Emylia! OMG. My anger for her. My heart when people declared her worth and love!! It gripped my heart so fully

- Why choose/ love triangle vibes
- SECRETS
- Hidden magic
- Insta connection/love… but don’t let that fool you!
- 2 DELICIOUS MMCs, oh my!
- FMC growth
- forced proximity

The ending was intense and heart wrenching! I cannot wait for book 2.
It’s very unresolved but no brutal cliffhanger, if anything I’m excited about what could come from it.

Thank you Jasmin for sharing an ARC with me for my honest review.

This book immersed you in a world filled with magic and mystery. I loved the FMC Emylia. She knew who she was and stood for what she believed in. She was considered an outlaw, trouble maker was banished and still stood on her beliefs. Her cousin Jeremy is my favorite character. He was funny, loyal, and believed in Emylia. I love the bond that Jeremy, Oryeon, and Emylia formed. This book was full of love, humor, heartbreak, and excitement. I truly enjoyed this book, and I can't wait for the next chapter! Thank you so much for reaching out & sending me this ARC, Jasmin!

Emylia is a fast-paced story set in a village with Norse Mythology vibes where being a woman and a warrior are incompatible. I love the imagery & banter used and I think I have a good idea of where the action is leading for subsequent books.
This book is insta-love but done right with yearning & fun banter. It tackles some deep themes and the last quarter is action heavy! I am very excited to see where the story continues and how Emylia will forge her way through the world.

This book was so incredibly addicting. The world building was a lot but well written so I was able to really enjoy all aspects. The characters pissed me off and made me fall in love all in the same. It's full of magic, suspense, and finding self worth. As an 18 year old girl in a world where women aren't allowed to be warriors yet that's Emylias only calling she must find a way to be herself. I cried starting AND ending this book. I cannot wait for the next one.

I was so honoured to be given the opportunity to read this book. I immediately connected with the characters and enjoyed the writing style. The main character Emylia is an incredibly strong woman who would do anything to protect her loved ones. Even when it means breaking the law. And her friends and family are so supportive and understanding. They love her for who she is and encourage her to be herself.

This book is just a one of a kind fantasy book . I absolutely devoured it to be honest. It's the fastest I have ever read a 420 page book yet lol 😂 .

It has angst, female rage , magik , fantasy , action, and a one horse trope 😂
It honestly had the perfect amount of spice which is something I really appreciated as well

What a wonderful story! This is an easy-to-understand fantasy world with hidden magic. I feel like this is just the beginning, and that there is lots to come.

The love triangle hiiiiits. I still don’t know who’s team I’m on 😂 but when it turned kinda into a ‘why choose’, all I’m gonna say is be prepared because the spice is spicy.

Overall a great read!

This book was so jaw droppingly amazing. The chemistry between the FMC and the MMC was everything you could want it to be and more. Every new character felt like they had a real place in the book and there was a real connection and reason for them to be in the book which I love. The story flowed effortlessly of a warrioress proving she can defend herself and her family while falling in love and having her world fall apart all at once. I easily developed a connection to the FMC Emylia. I was happy when she was, angry when she was and sad when she was. I was so engrossed with the fine details, I cannot wait for the second book!!
