At twenty-six Anna, Lady Quartermain, is already a widow following the death of her husband and step-daughter in a tragic car accident. To help her overcome her grief she has indulged in solving a few simple mysteries for friends and family. But when she finds her dearest friend, Brigadier Harris Butterworth, crouched over a dead body, and holding the murder weapon, she has a mystery of a more serious kind to unravel. And what she discovers makes her question the circumstances of her husband's death.
This is a well-written and interesting book set in the England that I know and love - it's like a modern and younger Miss Marple as far as mystery and settings are concerned. So if you like Agatha Christie you might like this book too.
set in the 1980s...very British....secret agent and elaborate plot of revenge upon the heroine' s gentleman friend formerly of the SAS and now head of a private security firm. quite well done.
