In a bloody war, Harrison lost his mate, and it nearly destroyed his mind. He abandoned his people to their fate. Not only did he suppress the bear shifter in him, which shouldn’t be possible, he also lives as a straight human and forgot who he is.
Orion—big, dark, and wounded—has suffered at the hand of the enemy while longing for the day he will find his alpha. He was low in the hierarchy of his sleuth and beaten lower. Used and abused, he has only ever looked at one man. He believes if he can find the alpha, he could force him to return.
Harrison doesn’t want to remember. Orion can’t forget. In some ways, Orion blames his alpha. But he also loves him. Will Orion's touch be enough to bring his alpha back? He must try for the survival of his people.

I will never be tired of reading shifter stories although I haven't read anything by this author for some time. I don't always rate shifter stories highly because they tend to be very similar when you read so many of them but this story was surprisingly good.
I stumbled across this and decided to give it a try and really enjoyed this story about a bear shifter called Harrison who has lost his memory and forgotten his people. Unfortunately his people are being tortured and brutalised by a bear shifter from another clan.
When one of Harrison's fellow bears escapes and finds, him Harrison begins the journey to recovery, finding himself and the beginnings of rescue for his people.
It was a nice quick read and a good story for shifter fans. This is book 1 in a 3 book series so of course I will be reading the others.
I broke my rule when I paid for this book. I would never paid what I did but this is the work of Eden Cole. I have read her free works and they are in my best books folder. So when I saw that this story was more then 20 pages, I said, "I'd let's give it a shot". I am sorry but I'm really disappointed. The is a very weak beginning for this series. I did not feel any chemistry between these men. I didn't feel anything for either character. It was flat...just like that there is torture....just like that he finds his alpha...just like that he has no memory and just like that they are bound and in love.....so let's build an army by Turing or friends who are supposed to trust us and lead them to their death. I would only read the next in the series if it's free....otherwise it just not worth the time.
Orion and the rest of his sleuth have been imprisoned by the enemy alpha who captured them several years previously. He is tortured daily in an attempt to get him to break and tell the enemy where his alpha, Harrison is. By taking the torture on himself, he has managed to protect the other weaker members of the sleuth. All that is about to change…Orion has escaped and is looking for Harrison.
Harrison stumbled out of the woods several years previously and was taken in by a shelter. He didn’t remember anything about who he was, where he was from, if he had any family, or basically anything. What he did have was a sharp mind. In the years since, he has gotten a GED, then went on to college, and has established himself as an upstanding member of the community in the small South Dakota town he now calls home. He is even semi-engaged to marry a fine upstanding young woman (total bitch actually). What will happen when Orion arrives and starts to trigger memories? Memories not only of the sleuth, but the brutal murder of his mate at the hands of the enemy alpha?
I really liked this story. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

I really didn't like the ending. I dont like it when books end and the story is incomplete. It also bothered me that Orion left his Sleuth mates to find Harrison when him being there was the only thing keeping them alive and unharmed. Why would he suddenly decide to leave? And why when he found Harrison did he just kind of take his time and hang out instead of telling Harrison that time is of the essence? The thing that saved this book was the characters and their strong but loveable personalities. The connection between Orion and Harrison was a straight up cosmic meteorite! Orion worships the ground Harrison walks on and Harrison would kill a man for even looking at Orion sideways. That was beautiful.
