Family history, friends, cozy mystery

First Edition Fatality: A Cozy Small Town Mystery is a great cozy mystery novella. Lila Hart inherits her estranged Grandmother's bookstore, Mockingbird Books. She becomes suspicious about her Grandmother's death. Lila, Sheriff Cooper Reid, employee Violet, and new friend librarian Emily need to sort through secrets. local politics, and family history. Lila learns more about both of her grandparents and the mystery is focused on their deaths. This was really enjoyable and hard to put down. Introducing the characters and setting up the mystery is hard to do in only 132 pages but this book is well done. The characters are likeable. The only minor thing I wasn't a fan of was the relationship between Lila and Cooper because of their ages. This book was very enjoyable. #FirstEditionFatality #cozymystery #MandyPaige

This book left me with mixed feelings. I find it incredibly hard to believe that Lila slides into her new life and job effortlessly. The timing of the mysteries being solved seems implausible compared to how many years her grandmother worked on it. The author never explains how the intruder(s?) get into the building. What bothers me the most is Agatha the cat. She has a prominent role in the beginning of the story, but when Lila goes away for a few nights, there is no mention of making sure that Agatha has food or water or anything else. This troubled me greatly. I like all the good people, and the rotten ones are depicted well. Definitely worth reading.

What a cute little town with some super nice major characters who weren’t only good friends, but they were loyal as well, something Lila really needed having just moved to town. Her new friends especially proved how much they cared for Lila by helping her do some history sleuthing when someone was trying to make her sell the bookstore for progress’s sake.

There was a good showdown scene with Violet doing something pretty cool to keep the perp at bay and by the end of the book, Lila felt she and her friends had done a lot to help and preserve her grandparents’ legacy.
