Rate this book
The second installment of the bestselling paranormal/ fantasy romance from Sadie Kincaid.

But there is one who can save the fates of all.
For the child borne of fire and blood,
Shall be our ruin or our redemption.

An ancient prophecy. A betrayal so deep it will echo through eternity.

Ophelia Hart is no ordinary elementai. In fact, she is extraordinary in every single way there is.
And now that she knows her true heritage and has bonded to the most powerful vampire who ever lived, and the three ruthless vampires he sired, she wonders if she might finally know some true happiness. It seems at last within her reach—so long as the truth of her identity remains a closely guarded secret.

But secrets can’t remain so forever. Ophelia must learn to harness the magical abilities she’s awakened before the rest of the world discovers who she really is. And although her four bonded mates will do all in their power to protect her, there are forces at work that even they cannot fathom.

Destiny beckons, but betrayal lurks just around the corner. And debts will be settled for oaths that are PROMISED IN BLOOD.

Please note: Promised in Blood ends in a cliffhanger, but Book 3 in the trilogy will have the HEA you’re waiting for.

4.5⭐️

I don’t think I will ever be the same after this series. Not only have I been completely transported to another realm entirely but the cliffhanger literally caused me physical distress 😩

Picking up where we left off in Forged in Blood- our special girl Ophelia is figuring out her place in the world and with her four vampires. After the connection between Alexandros and Ophelia strengthens and finally crescendos into something none of them could’ve ever imagined this unlikely family realizes that nothing will ever be the same. Fighting against forces unknown and unseen all of our favorite paranormal beings will be faced with struggles they never could have imagined.

As the relationships between Ophelia, Axl, Xavier, Malachi and Alexandros all foster and grow in different ways, the unease surrounding her true identity and what it means for not only their bonds but the world as a whole seems to hang in the balance. All of the ways that these five interact with each other is so different and so unique it truly makes for such a different read than anything I ever have before. The prose in which Sadie writes her characters relationships and feelings for each other is honestly some of the most beautiful writing I have ever read.

That ending tho??? Sadie, I will be sending you my therapy bill. I cannot function. I literally sat on the couch staring into the abyss after I finished this book and will need approximate 2-3 business MONTHS to recover (seeing as the third book comes out in MARCH)….. not to be dramatic but I might die before then.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Jk Sadie I’ll survive…….maybe.

Wow

It's not often that book 2 supersedes book 1, but that is what has happened here, where book 1 was frustrating and slow this book was action-packed, plot driven and exciting. And whilst that ending was foreshadowed, it was much worse than I imagined and left my jaw on the floor.

Jesus Christ Ophelia is a painfully whingey FMC.

And the fuckin stuttering. PLEASE someone send this girl to a speech therapist.

These three boys need to fuck the prof and get it over with already.

Also the prof needs to get a fucking grip on reality.

Def not giving dom vibes just an intolerant alpha hole.

I was really hoping this would be good because Dante and lorenzo were pretty decent but Sadie this is trash.

I’m not sure I’ll even bother my tits with book number 3.

This is gonna be one of those series that could have been one book. I can feel it in my bones.

So hard to say everything I have an issue with in this book. First off the Female lead character may be the worst lead of any book I’ve read. She is the “chosen one” supposedly the most powerful of anyone in the universe and yet complains about pretty much everything. She has 0 emotional intelligence and has no backbone especially when it comes to Alexandros who, by the way, is even worse than her.
Moving on to Alexandros. I want to punch him. Then kick him. Then possibly punch him again depending on my mood. He said that the love for his previous wife and kids could not even compare to what he feels for Ophelia (female lead) who is a college kid he met like a week ago.😑 WHAT ARE WE DOING PEOPLE. Apparently love does not even begin to describe what he feels for Ophelia……ok……cause that makes sense.
Anyway there were 3 other guys obsessed with her too idc I’m annoyed with the other 2 too much to get into them. Overall nothing interesting truly happened until the last like 20 pages so. ….. take this as you will. Not my favorite read.

Promised in Blood ⭐️⭐️
This was worse than the first one for me. Ophelia is like a baby. She is like an infant who has no personality and just cries and is horny. This was worse than the first one cause the best part of the first one were the three boys and this barely talked about them. We got the boring ass professor who Jesus Christ went from like not caring to all of a sudden being like she’s the love of my life and I feel more for her than I ever did for my wife who I was with for a century who was brutally murdered by my son. He gives nothing. The romance gave nothing. She gave nothing. Also this was majority smut but very poorly written horrible repetitive give nothing smut. Anyways I’m probably going to continue cause I can’t be stopped but like I want to be stopped. Restrain me

I AM NOT OKAY I needed to stare at a wall for 3 to 5 business days to process this book...
IT WAS AMAZING, EVERYTHING, PERFECTION!!!

I was in such a big reading slump after finishing the next book, and I was so glad to be back at Montridge University with the professor and his boys, and this more than delivered! I can't wait to read the next book but also don't want this series to come to an end.

And you're telling me that I have to wait till March?? After that ENDING?

I will never get over the way these men love Ophelia 😩

“This is so much more than love, Ophelia. More than a bond. More than I have ever felt. Love cannot endure a thousand lifetimes. It forgets and it fades. You and I are eternal. You have conquered my heart and stolen my soul. Do not insult what we have by calling it love.”

“I will either burn in the light or drag you into the dark, little one. And whenever Death should come for you, I will offer Him one thousand souls in return for yours so that you will remain in this mortal realm with me for the rest of time.”

All this bitch does is CRY. The “most powerful being to ever exist” but she has zero emotional intelligence. Also why did alexandros need to get involved? In the end her fated mate should’ve been Malachi or Xavier.

Did I read a different book to everyone else??

It was ok, in some parts it was good. But I struggle with Ophelia. She has the personality of a dish towel. I also struggled to tell the boys POVs apart from each other (except profs), I often found myself checking the chapter to remind myself who’s POV I’m reading from. They all seem to have the exact same personality.

3 stars for swords crossing though ⚔️

This story continues in Promised In Blood and there's a bit more twist in this one, definitely a cliffhanger ending. I absolutely did not want to see coming, but hopefully there will be another book to continue on from here if not I'm going to be very disappointed.

That cliffhanger ending! I am at a loss for words. So many emotions and thoughts going on.
Promised In Blood continues where Forged In Blood ended. Ophelia is working on controlling her powers and growing stronger. When some terrible things start happening on campus, they know someone is close to figuring out who Ophelia is. Can they stop whatever is coming?

The 2nd book in a continuation series and just a lot of fun! Why choose, paranormal, vampires, lots of blood lust. This one picks up right where book 1 left off and I think I liked this one a bit more than the first book! Super entertaining! I like following the heroine in this world as she figures it all out along with us. In this book we get even more supernaturals (wolf packs, dragons, etc), so that was fun to see how big the world is and all the complexities. Of course the spice is spicing in this series and they’re just bingeable and fun! The audios are available through my library (hoopla) and I enjoyed.

This book barely had more plot than the first book, and because there's so little character development and so little plot development, the cliffhanger that should have been devastating simply closes the door on my need to continue this series. Once you take out that element of the story, there's literally nothing left to care about.

Also, the FMC is so poorly written, that I literally picture her in my mind as one of those over the top anime characters that is all boobs and pink hair and giant eyes with zero brain, while I picture the other characters has real people, even though they are barely better written, lol. The number of times the author mentions her boobs heaving or straining or twitching or being perky when she's so much as breathes, I had to actually go back and check whether this was written by a man or a woman.

Amazing, ♾️ stars just as book one
Sadie's books are al so good, but this series is soooo amazing.

The bond between these 5 is truly so strong. And the way Alexandros and Ophelia connect is more powerful than anything ever.

As always is the spice so so good🔥🔥

The ending killed me, I really need part 3 to feel better

So much fun to listen too!

Engagement:4.0

This series is just so fun to listen to. The story isn't original, and the writing isn't going to win any awards (sorry), but the voice actors are just so animated in their roles, and the story is just pure soap-opera-vampire-spicy fun that I couldn't wait to have some free time to listen to the story. A part of me is sorry that there are only three books in this series because I don't know if I'll find another guilty pleasure as fun as this.

Storyline: 3.0
This second installment of the Broken Bloodlines trilogy we continue to follow Ophelia Hart and her FOUR vampire lovers as she discovers what she really is and what that means for them and the magical community. As with the previous book (Forged in Blood) this story includes many spicy moments between the various main characters to keep the story simmering throughout.

Readability: 3.0
ADULT CONTENT: for 18+ readers only. I'll echo my note from book one by stating that the audiobook version of this story is a delight to listen to. The writing still feels a bit amateurish but the voice acting more than makes up for it. The story itself is not that complicated and a reader could pick up this series at book 2 without missing much of the storyline, but book one was such fun I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the fun.

Why haven’t I heard more about this series?!
It has everything a good, plotty, smutty book should have — and I loved it! It definitely gave me The Bonds That Tie vibes (which I also loved).

I listened to the audiobook, and oh my… those deep-voiced narrators did things. And yes, it’s spicy — I mean, reverse harem and vampires? No one does yearning like they do.

Sure, I’ve read better-written spice, but when it’s happening in almost every chapter, I get that it’s hard to keep it fresh. Still, I’m so here for it. 😂

However, while I love smut, those scenes do slow the pacing of this series down a lot.

What in the heavens was that ending?
Sadie really warned us that the cliffhanger was brutal and she was not playing around. I thought it would be something entirely different. Something easily predictable but the 180 Sadie did on us was sadistic. And genius.

This book picked up right where Forged in Blood left us. With Ophelia's powers unlocked and a whole new world of knowledge and powers in her hands.
Alexandro finally opened up to Ophelia and nothing can keep her out of his mind. Figuratively speaking.

In this book Ophelia has to work to get a handle on this well of power that could rival Azezal himself. Alexandro and Xavier slowly start working on their miscommunication issues now that they all have a common goal, which is to ensure Ophelia's safety from all of threats that seems to be working hard against them.

It is beautiful the love Ophelia has for her men and it was even more beautiful to watch Alexandro transform completely to ensure that Ophelia was loved and felt so.

This is so much more than love, Ophelia. More than a bond. More than I have ever felt. Love cannot endure a thousand lifetimes. It forgets and it fades. You and I are eternal. You have conquered my heart and stolen my soul. Do not insult what we have by calling it love.

There's a lot of plot twists and there's a lot of tension and pining between all of our characters. I loved reading about the frustration Ophelia was feeling due to her lack of control over her powers and when she finally started getting a handle on it, it was absolutely delicious.

I suspected of all of the side characters and knowing about a possible heartbreaking end made me incredibly paranoid of them. Who was out against them? What is their intent? But in the end the one to betray them was the most likely.

This book delved a little into Xavier's trauma from his past and we finally got to know a little of what happened five centuries ago that resulted in total annihilation of an entire species.

This book was entertaining and funny at times. It was sexy and ominous at the same time. I was riding on my anxiety to finish it to finally learn about the fates of our beloved characters and although absolutely heartbreaking, it did not disappoint.

I cannot wait to read the last book in this trilogy and I just hope that we don't have to wait long.

I want to thank Sadie Kincaid and her PA, Katie Evans for the amazing opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had higher hopes

I had such high hopes for this book. The first one started out intriguing and funny and it seemed to be moving in a good direction. I'm so very sad how it ended up. This is a full length book that had the plot expansion of a novella. Hardly anything of any true meaning happens until the end and then you're left on a cliffhanger.
Not to mention the FMC deserved a better personality considering what she is. I think this is where the book struggles where some other fantasy romances flourish and become so popular. The FMC is, frankly, unlikeable in this. She acts like a toddler. Pouting, crying constantly, whining, crossing her arms, tapping her foot, hollering, bouncing up and down because of something silly, asking a million questions, obsessed with glitter and unicorns and sparkles ....it's all too much.
Also, the fact that her whole power centers around the Big O is juvenile. The story had such strong potential and then that ridiculous trope enters the chat.
The author is not a bad writer. Don't misunderstand me. The book just missed the mark when it had the makings of being a really strong story. However, I will not miss all the times people turned their heads/necks back and forth, or someone's chin in grabbed between two fingers, or someone starts to ask a million questions, or someone snaps defiantly like a petulant child.
I'm glad I didn't DNF the book, but I'm not sure I'll read the last one. If you like girls who seem like children with men who act like their fathers but sleep with them...maybe you'll like this.
Book 1, though...go read it. It's great.

This is on me - I've seen some comments here that there is more action in this book, so I thought maybe it will be better.
It was not.
The smut is there to fill all the plotholes. Quite literaly.
She is sad? Lets f*ck
She is angry? Lets f*ck

There is not a single meaningful conversation that she has.

Its all either you're special or smut.
She has no autonomy, no initiative. Things happen to her.

There is no character growth.

(You would ask why I didn't DNF it? I was on a 5h train drive with nothing else to keep me occupied)

⭐⭐⭐ 3 Stars
🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3 Spice

Quick Review:
Honestly, I read book one and wasn’t the biggest fan, but I kept going because at this point it feels like watching trashy TV drama — messy, chaotic, and somehow weirdly entertaining even when it’s not good. Book two was… okay. I’m still mostly on the fence between totally hating it and thinking it’s fine. I’m not really gripped, but it is easy and fast to read, so I kept going.

My biggest issues are the weak female lead and the complete disregard for her autonomy as a person. The overall story from book one to now is actually decent — it has a good framework — but everything around it is such a mess that it puts me off. I love when I can put myself in the place of the main character, adventure with them, swoon with them… but with this book, I just can’t do that at all.

I would have given it fewer stars, but I did read the whole thing. It was an easy read, just nothing I could really sink my teeth into.
