But it turns out Elena also has a buried vengeful streak…

I devoured the book so fast I’m actually ashamed to admit it. I enjoyed the writing but some transitions/passing of time happens fast. It was abrupt but it kept a fast pace to the story.

This was so bad. It truly only got worse the more I read, too. No like I’m actually laughing out loud rn bc what the hell was that 😭😭

I’ll be honest with you, I should’ve dnf’d but I was holding out for them to bang and even that was beyond terrible LMAO. The dialogue in this?? The inner-monologues???? I actually couldn’t keep a straight face bc the cringe was next level. It felt like a prank sometimes 🤣🤣 My first red flag was the author’s note that said she wanted to write a book about a serial killer with a breeding kink. But of course, I went with it (i hate myself).

I can’t even give you a list of all the reasons this was an absolute disaster because it would be endless. So please just take my word for it. Save yourself from this atrocity. I cannot stress this enough 🤣😭 I genuinely deserve some sort of award for finishing this.

I’m only giving it 1 star because 0 stars isn’t an option.

rant incoming about the trope in this book:

Out of 5, this is now the 4TH ‘ex-boyfriend’s dad’ book I’ve read that has FAILED miserablyyyyyyyy. It’s very hard to do this trope well and that’s obvious considering how unbelievably bad all of these books are. (This one was definitely the worst of all of them though)

I’ve officially given up on this trope and am now just going to assume that Birthday Girl is the ONLY ex-boyfriend’s dad done right.

It’s just crazy to me that we have some classic forbidden love here, and yet these authors continue to neglect putting even an OUNCE of tension, angst, or yearning…????? They only know how to write lust and it’s BORIIIINNNGGGGG. On top of that, it’s always cringe x1000000.

I wish authors would STOPPPP trying to create a book out of a trope and having no real ideas or depth for the plot or characters. It’s painfully bad and frankly, I’m fucking sick of it

Soft Tissue Damage is a darker age gap romance with a fiercely protective and dominating alpha male and a sweet and loving heroine that needs someone in her corner.

Elena meets her boyfriend’s dad, Cullan, and finds herself outrageously attracted to him. When she’s in his presence she feels safe and seen despite feeling guilty for feeling something for him. Cullan has all the Daddy vibes with a side of killer and Elena was HERE for it😂.

Cullan just can’t help himself. He’s never met a woman that accepts every part of who he is and he desperately wants that connection. He meets his son’s girlfriend and knows she’s what he wants. Obstacles? They don’t exist. This man legitimately pretends to be his son to get a taste of her among other red flag actions lol. And it isn’t long before Cullan masterfully moves her like a chess piece and has her right where he wants her.

“You look happy, Mr. Grant. Did you win big tonight?”

“Not the big prize. That one’s still eluding me, but I’ll get it. I’m determined.”

But their budding relationship isn’t the only thing going on in this book! We’ve got some suspense, some twists and turns and violence and mayhem. Perfect addition to the sizzling smut. I mean Cullan and Elena were fire.

“I want you raw, no condom. I need to thrust into your sweet, tight, heat and feel your pussy gripping my cock. I want to pull out, covered in your virgin blood, and drive into you again and again. Honestly I fell so hard for the MMC in this book, it’s insta list for our big growly teddy bear that very quickly turns into insta love for him! He has few interactions with Elena yet his protective instincts go into overdrive as he quickly realises she the woman for him 🥰 honestly the way this man talks about her is just swoon worthy! Elena is a sweet caring quiet soul who’s fighting to make her way in the world! She’s Leon’s girlfriend and she honestly feels like she’s ticking boxes with him, whereas it’s his dad that really ignites something in her 😱 and being raised Catholic it completely screws with her mentality 😳 yet the connection between them cannot be denied 😍 Cullan manages to manipulate her life so that he can rescue her and provide her with what she needs; however his fear is that once she realise how true self she might minus walk away. Little does he know Elena has a core of steel that might just be as crooked as his 😅 there are dark tropes to this but wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a dark romance - more a forbidden romance!There are issues for them to overcome (mainly between themselves and the families they have) but their HEA is all you could wish for for these two 🥰

We love to see a mmc who is so obsessed that he does everything in his power to make sure the fmc is always within his vicinity. We also love a girl who may seem meek and mild but literally is full of strength and pinch of wickedness. Truly enjoy this especially when it came to the primal and breeding kink🤭

I feel like I’ve read so many ex-boyfriend’s dad trope books this year already, and this one was definitely the darkest. It was crazy.
Cullan is extremely possessive and obsessed with Elena - really over the top. I enjoyed it, and I absolutely loved the darker aspects, though sometimes it was a little too much for me.

However, I was so surprised by the ending and how Elena took revenge on her aunts. That was so satisfying.

DNF at 72%. Didn’t get better or interesting. I don’t think this author is for me.

Hero immediately likes the heroine, takes way too much interest in her. This is a pet peeve of mine, especially in romances marketed as dark. It’s not dark if the hero always feels/says the right things for and to the heroine.

What I find more interesting is when there is some tension/conflict between what the hero feels, and what he believes he should feel. While the hero feels she is off-limits, absolutely no stakes or tension from this.

Still loved it and am loving this series. I hope we'll get more from this world!

now i know virgin fmc is horror to everyone and me, but in this book it worked for me.

fmc is a big catholic due to her aunts being big church people (but wrong kind of imo but i am not going to get into whole religion thing) anyway book starts with mmc seeing and insta loving/lusting after fmc, they meet have a moment but oh no you are my sons gf, he treats her bad and cheats on her mmc sends a hey girlie text to her undercover to make them break up, closes her job so she could only work as her nanny (2 years before his divorce they tried to make it work and since he wanted more kids even though ex-wife didn't want any she gave birth to rosie whom fmc nannies) he hates the ex-wife never loved her never had a proper sex life and bare minimum never cheated on ex-wife, since the divorce he has been celibate, they live together ever after.

i love my mmcs who are alpha and active in pursuing fmc doing whatever it takes, so loved him ngl, stumbled near the ending but i didn't care tbh.

I had the incredible opportunity to beta read this book, and let me just say Lilith Vincent NEVER misses. She delivers another dark, twisted, forbidden romance that completely took over my mind.

From the moment I met Cullan and Elena, I knew this story would wreck me in the best way. The age gap, the forbidden tension, the fact that he’s her boyfriend’s father?? It’s SO wrong… and yet, you root for them every step of the way.

Cullan is every dark romance lover's dream — possessive, dangerous, protective, and just the right amount of unhinged 🔥. Elena, the sweet and strong heroine, completely stole my heart. The emotional depth between them, mixed with the dark suspense and steamy scenes? PERFECTION.

There’s a killer on the loose, secrets lurking everywhere, and every page had me on edge. The plot twists, the obsession, and the way Lilith writes emotion through darkness… just wow.

This book was hot on my radar from the moment that I read the blurb. I needed it badly because it had the promise of a dark and gritty storyline that toed the line with not only the forbidden relationship between the main characters, but we also had to check our moral compass in a sense. While I was left a bit disappointed in certain things, I still liked that we were introduced to these messed up characters.

The only thing that Elena has always wanted was to be loved. Raised by two women that has a disdain for her because they had to give her the bare minimum, she knows that she's missing the warmth of being loved. Trying her best to work and keep her head down while making time for her boyfriend is not easy. But having his support and someone to call her own, means everything to her. That all changes when a 6’5 handsome older man enters her life and she discovers that he's her boyfriend's father with a deadly secret.



I was prepared for the crazy, dark and sexy for this story and even though some things were right on point, I still felt like I was missing a lot. The dark themes felt very tamed and it didn't live up to the intensity that was teasing us throughout the book. I did love the main characters as a couple and you really saw how much Cullen loved Elena and vice versa.

If you're looking for a forbidden romance with a light dark theme, you should give this one a try.

Did you ever have the fantasy of righteous serial killer Dexter falling in love with a young woman who's innocent, brave and in dire need of a family and a protective man?

This is it, ladies. This. Is. It. Read this book and thank me later.

I am ecstatic with this age-gap dark romance. He's a real Daddy, this Cullen with strong arms, tattooes under his black T-shirts and a deep, velvety voice. And don't forget he's also good at getting rid of bad people. In the bloodiest, most efficient ways. That has to add to the appeal, right? :-D

Well, on paper, or reading screen, he's the whole package. Cullen means a world of protection, safety, warm embraces and loving care for sweet Elena. And she relishes it to her core behind her beliefs of not belonging and being unworthy. My heart went out to her. She's so deserving of all the things that she's been denied. Yet Cullen is here to provide for her in a glorious spree of stalking, machiavellian planning and cunning to get his prized bride.

I have to admit the lengths he goes to in order to lure the unsuspecting lady into his love trap would be concerning in real life, but here, in the intimacy of words and books, it's a forbidden pleasure I have enjoyed in body and heart.

The narrative is engaging as it takes you easily into the characters' minds. She's struggling but hopeful to get a grip in life while getting more and more dazzled by this charismatic presence, her boyfriend's father. I could relate to Elena as she fell under the spell of his respectful, loving attitude towards her. He's such a good father, such a protective older man. And oh so handsome.

I also find it very interesting as the more criminal vein starts to unfold for Cullen, the reader follows his path of thought and action as he lets go of his inhibitions and lets his homicidal instincts free. It is oddly exhilarating.

Is it hot? You bet. Is it immoral and dark? No complaints from me because it's well explained and justified and flows beautifully into the characters' evolution. I love this couple. They are made for each other while keeping a loving, sensual and enviable relationship. Give yourself a treat like I did ;-)

At the heart of the plot lies the question of whether we can truly be ourselves with our loved ones. The answer to that question is a dark and dangerous journey. Getting to the end of it is quite a surprise. I'm happy I didn't miss all the mayhem and the love.

Elena is working at a Diner to pay off her debt to her aunt so that she can finally find out who her mother is. When one day she's working she finds her eyes drifting to the table who sits two men who just have those dark vibes. One man in particular she can't stop staring at.

Cullen is eating at the diner and his eyes catch the waitresses eyes and he is immediately obsessed. He finds that after two years he thinks that maybe he can be happy again.

It all comes crashing when he finds out that that same girl is his son's girlfriend. But, that doesn't stop him! He is drawn to her and he will do whatever it takes to make her his. I can't stop thinking about the way everything starts coming together. The way it's forbidden, the tension, the sneaking 🥵
I read this book in just about two days because I couldn't put it down! As soon as I started reading I was hooked and I needed to know EVERYTHING. The spice was spicing and I was eating it up.

elena is what some may call a “goody two shoes” but is that all ?? she is a hardworking woman who is constantly being looked down on / berated for just simply breathing. her background is unknown for the fact that she doesn’t know who her real parents are. elena grew up thinking that she was just tossed to side and left for these sisters of the church to raise. and even that wasn’t a life she wanted for herself. through all the blackmails, lies, and hurtful words, elena continued on. she just never knew she would be falling in love with her boyfriend’s dad 🤪 cullan spent his life hiding in the shadows and concealing his true depravity. he knew no one besides his best friend tyrant would ever see things the way he does. when cullan is set on something, it becomes his next obsession. so when he bent down to tie the shoelaces of a bright blue eyed woman named elena, he just dove head first into everything that is her. he knew he shouldn’t cross that line. especially when she is his son’s girlfriend. but whatever cullan wants … he will claim and he doesn’t care who he has to remove to get it 🤗

It started off great and i was totally engrossed in it but along the way it lost a bit of its charm.... Still i freaking loved Daddy Cullan and his insanity 🤣
What can i say, i have a weak spot for big inked k!llers who worship the sh!t out of their women 🤷🏻‍♀️😁

After being rejected by the only family she’s known, Elena learned to only rely upon herself, but when Cullan Grant enters her life, she finds safety in darkness.

Narrated in dual POV, Cullan keeps to himself and satisfies his urges when he can but Elena is someone that calls to him. Trying to live a virtuous life, Elena sacrifices her own happiness until she learns what happiness can bring. Though there are truths to be revealed, Cullan and Elena are willing to take the risk.

With Cullan taking certain obsessive actions, it provided for some steamy scenes; however, the darker elements could have been developed a bit more for plot cohesion. Though Elena is young, her naivete hampered her as a character for me through much of this story. That said, the friendship between Cullan and Tyrant was definitely entertaining and the book’s setting is intriguing.

Lilith Vincent’s books belong in their own category for me. They are definitely re-readable and filled with highlights of the hottest quotes and scenes. Soft Tissue, without a doubt, has many.

Book 2 of the Deadly Hearts Series, which can still be read as a standalone, readers will be delighted to get some cameo time with familiar characters and be introduced to Cullan.

Poor dear Cullan wishes he had someone to love and have children with. Though he does have two children with his ex-wife, an adult son, and custody of his 13-month-old baby, he would love more. No mind that he works with Tyrant in “security.” He’s a s3r!al unaliver and falls hard for his son’s girlfriend. Oh yes, it’s that kind of story. And true to Lilith Vincent fashion, there’s br33ding in this one too.

Soft Tissue is a bit darker due to Cullan’s character and how his relationship with his son’s girlfriend, Elena, evolves. I enjoyed that type of progression, level of darkness, and the overall story. It’s another winner for me!

This book sets in the same world as Fear Me, Love Me (a fact that I didn't realize until near the end) but it gave off a different vibe than that one. While that one really gives off a dark romance vibe, this one was a little contemporary with its plot.

Our main couple is an older man and his son's girlfriend. Forbidden, I know. During the same time, our guy also started a new career in serial killing. Crazy, I know.

It's another decent story for me. Not much I could praise for other than it was pretty good sometimes and a little unbelievable other times. Need to suspend your belief a lot on this one.

All in all, pretty good of an addition.
