Eternal Sacrifice

The thrilling conclusion to this entertaining action packed fantasy. This story pulled me from the first page! It was so emotional gripping I couldn’t put it down.
I’m honestly not sure how I feel about everything that played out I’m still processing it all but I do know that you don’t want to miss this if you’ve read the previous books!

Eternal Sacrifice is an incredibly powerful and tremendously epic adventure that will enthrall your senses, rejuvenate your heart, and transforms your very soul. The messages and themes throughout this truly masterful series will tug at your heart and give you so much to think about and reevaluate in your life. I would gladly and enthusiastically recommend this series to young adult and adults alike. There is so much more going on than teenagers struggling to do what is right and what they were destined for. What opens before our eyes is endless possibilities, boundless love, and unfailing hope that calls us to follow our heart no matter what we have to face in life. While the right decision may be the most devastating struggle we have to endure, the reward on the other side will far out-weight our greatest expectations. Open your heart to the unknown and let your feet follow the unseen path of your destiny that lies in wait for you to live, love, and hope beyond all measure.

Kalin thought she had fought and endured more than her share since discovering who she really is, but her greatest fight is still ahead of her. No matter what she must follow her heart and do what she knows she was born to do. Only she can fill the void left empty, bring peace to a world on the brink of chaos, and heal the wounds that have scarred and plagued even the most innocent and bravest among them. Rowan wants nothing more than for Kalin to forge a new life in Alavon with him. She has suffered enough for two lifetimes and she above all deserves some peace. However, he knows all too well that what you want and what is required of you are so far removed from each other that they may never meet. He will do whatever he can to help her fulfill her destiny because he can no more live his life with her then the Earth can live without the sun and the moon. Can his love and power give Kalin what she desperately needs, or will she finally find the illusive peace and belonging that she has craved for so long?

This is by far the brightest and the darkest of the books in this series. It is the one that I loved and hated at the same time. It scarred and engraved itself up on my heart in a way that I will never forget. This is an astounding series that has touched me on so many levels that I am not even sure how to effectively put them in words. If only was a phrase that came to my mind so many times. Doubts and fear may have penetrated throughout this story, but it never failed to die in the face of honor, loyalty, love, and hope. Above all hope reigned. It thrived, and it penetrated. The characters are amazing and superb on every level. They were exquisitely created and wonderfully developed throughout this entire series. What an immense pleasure to enjoy every facet of this storyline!

Stacey O'Neale is a truly masterful author who knows how to undoubtedly and perfectly touch you on every level. She will make you feel things you never expected to experience while learning about her brilliantly crafted world. You will walk away knowing that nothing felt left out or incomplete. This series is a heart-pounding adventure that will leave you breathless with wild delight. Don’t pass by and skip the wonderful opportunity to peer into a beautifully vivid world filled with fascinating creatures that will captivate and entertain to a degree that you will never forget.

This book was sent to me in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and thoughts expressed are my own.

This was an action packed conclusion to a series that I fell in love with during book 1. That love continued on with books 2-3 and rests now with book 4.

All of the characters that I loved played a pivotal role in the taking down of the antagonists, but there are even some surprise characters that impress me along the way. Marcus, my favorite character, even gets his time to shine throughout the book and I think that O'Neale knew how loved Marcus was by the readers, so it only makes sense that she gives him some spotlight time!

As the book begins, the reader will see that there are no bars held and we get right into the meat of the story. It's go time. Gloves off. No more time for story building. It's time to end what books 1-3 set up. And I think that the tone book 4 sets from the very beginning is a good and solid one. I went into the story knowing exactly what I would be getting.

Now I will say that, if there is ONE critique I can give this book -- it's that it's TOO fast. There were some times that I felt a bit rushed and I think things could have been slowed down. Just a bit. The action scenes were spot on, but there were a lot of character moments that I felt were rushed in favor of getting to the big climax. And I felt a little slighted because of that. I wanted to know more about certain characters during certain scenes and just when I thought I was going to get it, I was taken to another part of the story. It was a tad bit unsatisfying.

I obviously got over that because as the story continued I found myself appreciating the fact that O'Neale cut out a lot of the fluff and got down to business and really explaining a lot of the context that was presented by Valac and what he was trying to do through the plot. I enjoy the redemption that I felt some of the characters got. I also appreciate the shattering of the assumed notion that everyone will "be okay".

No one is safe throughout this book and I found myself getting nervous from time to time. And there is a moment within this book that hurt by heart a bit. In the best and worst way. And it again proves why I trust O'Neale with storytelling. It's why I trust her to give me a good story. Because I can see that every decision made within the pages of this book was intentional. And I appreciated it. A great deal.

Overall, I am satisfied with the conclusion to this series. I think everything was handled as best as it could have been, with the exception of my ONE critique, and I think that readers will be satisfied with what this book has to offer!

DISCLAIMER: I was gifted an Amazon copy (from the author) in exchange for honest review.

Stacey . . . Why did you do that! \o/ I mean it worked in the end. But why would you do that to me! I thought I was having a heart attack!

The conclusion to this epic adventure is bomb. Valac is still causing havoc. Rowan and Kalin have to figure out ways to make time to see each other because they both have duties to fulfill as rulers in their separate courts.

Sacrifices must be made in order to protect Avalon from total destruction. Both Rowan and Kalin will have to make certain decisions. Hard decisions. The kind of decisions no one wants to make if it means losing the one you love. Saying goodbye is the worst, especially when its not time.

When the author began introducing Marcus' POV to the story, my mind went into total freak out mode. "Oh, no. Rowan's going to die." "Crap, if Rowan dies, I'm going to lose it!" There is still death to a loved character . . . or two or three, maybe even four. It broke my heart and I could not sleep for a while. Just when this one character finally grasps happiness, its taken away. Literally balling in the middle of the night because I couldn't bear the pain and emotion. Well done, Stacey! Really, it was amazing!

In the end, everything works out. I still feel some grief for this one character, whom (aside of Rowan) became my favorite. I cried for this character. The story concludes perfectly. Highly recommended series in my book. You should all read it!

I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*

The final book of this series was as amazing as it should be. After the cliffhanger from the third book and the long wait I had to endure before the release of this one, I was glad to see that many questions were answered, new allies were made and secrets were revealed.

Kalin and Rowan are fighting to save the courts as the world is heading straight towards an enviromental Apocalypse. I had my suspicions about the ending, since I didn't know what would happen, yet despite the gloomy atmosphere of the book, I liked the snarky comments between Rowan and Marcus.

My small complain is the death of a certain character which I found unfair. Yet again when you are in the middle of a civil war, you can't have everything...

The book was a great conclusion to this series and I hope that Stacey will always write amazing stories and funny, strong characters! If you like the Covenant series by Jennifer Armetnrout but with an Arthurian twist, then this series is for you!

Eternal Sacrifice by Stacey O'Neale

Valac is on the rampage to rule all four elemental courts. He has enlisted various followers to help him achieve his goal. He has threatened to use a sacred sword, to destroy Avalon's protective barrier.

Kalin has the power to stop him but saving thousands will cost her, her life.

Rowan, the fire king, loves Kalin and cannot except that Kalin's death is their only option.

He sets out to find another way.

BUT

As he sets out to find answers, he also learns more about his family and himself.

Will the balance of power be restored?

OR

Will destruction be the fate of the world?

I LOVED this book! I LOVED this series! However, this final book was my favorite of the series! It was action packed from start to finish, there were a couple of twists that I did not see coming, everything was explained, and wrapped up nicely! It was everything I could want in a final installment!

What an awesome finish to the series! It was a rollercoaster ride till the end! I loved every minute of it!

There is nonstop action, adventure, romance, sorrow and balance.

I gobbled up this book from the moment I started it! It was easy to read the flow was fast and perfect. I love the characters. I even liked Selene who redeemed herself. Marcus’s story, well I can’t say much about him without it being a spoiler but I would love there to be another book about him.

Kalin and Rowan make the perfect couple and they both are selfless and caring. Ugh, I can’t say anything else. You have got to read this series if you haven’t! It promises romance, action, adventure, redemption and balance and characters who will warm your heart.

P.S. Days after I read it, I’m still thinking about it!

Emotionally Wrecking But What a Fantastic Conclusion!!

I am wrecked. So much blood was sacrificed. Death, destruction, and heart wrecking losses were suffered. My eyes are far from dry. What an amazing action-packed and emotional ride this last installment of the series was. My heart still hurts from the big losses, but it soars as the adventure ends with love and most importantly: HOPE.

Thank you Stacey for bringing me so much laughter, tears of joy & sadness, but overall happiness. Truly some of the best days ever lwhile I indulged in this series and the lives of these characters. Your books are the greatest escape. I cannot wait to check out the rest. <3

Eternal Sacrifice is the third and final book in Stacey O'Neale's Mortal Enchantment series. Valac is preparing to steal four powerful artifacts so that he can threaten the four courts of Avalon to be allowed to rule them all. Because with all four artifacts he would be able to destroy the mist surrounding Avalon, thus bringing about the end of the world. If Valac is able to destroy the mist the only way to save the world will be for Kalin to sacrifice herself.

From the moment I learned Kalin might have to sacrifice herself, I was on the edge of my seat. Not because I wanted her to survive, but because I wanted her to die. But with a book like this it's very likely that Kalin would survive by the end. Even if her being saved meant creating a situation in which she just happens to survive.

While I won't say if Kalin lives or dies, I will say that the author played it much too safe in the ending. The ending had two chances to really do something and make the ending of the series stand out.

One big pacing issue with this book was that the wedding's placement made everything slow down. No one knew where Valac was and instead of making preparations for when he attacks, someone decides to throw a big wedding. I can understanding Kalin's reasons for allowing it as she is getting used to the idea of dying soon but she's also supposed to be the hero. She's supposed to be stronger than that. Especially in a situation that could easily threaten people. Rowan first is confused by the idea but then thinks that people need something nice to get their mind off reality. And when Valac attacks during the wedding Rowan thinks that no one could have predicted the attack.

Something happens in the wedding that makes the ending possible, so the author should have just rewritten when the wedding took place. A more bearable placement would be if it was thought Valac was defeated and the wedding was a means to celebrate the event.

This book goes to great pains to try and paint Prisma as a three dimensional character. Unfortunately the author decides to do this mainly by just saying Prisma wasn't always the same and was far from the cruel queen we thought she was. But her good character traits don't line up with what was said of her earlier in the series. Such as if she was really only doing cruel things to keep the fire court under control, why make the gabriel hounds fight each other to the death? Why enslave them? And according to this book she didn't become super evil until after Rowan's birth and I'm pretty sure the gabriel hounds existed for more than eighteen years.

I would recommend Eternal Sacrifice to those that liked the other books in the series. I would also recommend this book to those that like fantasy and romance.

This is the last book in this incredible series, and I could not put it down once I started the first book. The storyline created between the two main characters, Rowan and Katlin, drew me in from the beginning. Rowan, the seeming self-assured young man, who is able to inspire those around him more than once he can take down a whole army down with his sword , but inside he is much more vulnerable than anyone ever dreams. Then Katlin, who seems so "sheltered" from this world she walks into, but turns out to have strength that is beyond what she thought possible as the story continues. I saw them struggle, the pain they endured and wanted them to have the nice ending. However, they are given an impossible choice, and seemingly it can end only one way. Then I met those closest to them that stand by them and they are equal to them in heart in every way. This is a story of love against all odds and of sacrifice despite how painful. It is one of digging deeper than you ever thought possible and finding strength when nothing seems left, even when death itself seems to have you in its grasp. I loved this epic story of struggle, of pain, of sacrifice, of friendship, of hope, and lasting love.

My Thoughts:

Series finales are always one of my favorite and least favorite reviews to post, at the same time. How can that be? While I'm so overjoyed to rave about an incredible finale (they are too few and far between), I hate juggling the bittersweet emotion of finality meaning I'm saying goodbye to another cast of characters that I've grown to love. I won't lie folks, as many series as I've read, this one will forever be a special one to me. The love and hard work that author Stacey O'Neale has poured into this series over the last two years is unquestionable. While I dreaded the final chapters, how did Eternal Sacrifice finish up? After three wildly successful stories, did O'Neale end the series on a great note?

Absolutely. Prepare for the feels, readers. Tissues are a must.

When it comes to the plot of this one, I have quite a bit to say, however I have to restrain myself here for two huge reasons that happen to be my only critiques of the novel. First, this one is super short. Way shorted than most finales I have read, however there is a plus side to this I'll get to in a bit. Second, the pacing of this novel is extremely quick. There is little-to-no downtime so if you aren't careful, you will miss something. So, sharing plot details is a little tricky. What I can tell you is that Eternal Sacrifice is probably one of the most unique novels I have ever read in one specific aspect: it's only the 'good parts'. Does that make sense?

Imagine reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows without the 350 page camping trip and only a book full of 'The Battle of Hogwarts'. That my friends, is Eternal Sacrifice. It's short, but that's because O'Neale ensures her readers are fully satisfied. There isn't anything standing in the way of Kalin, Rowan, and the Avalonian forces of good to finally put an end to Valac and his reign of terror. With knowledge and hope on their sides, our heroes must stop Valac at any and all costs. Every breathe is precious and the battles fought in this finale will determine the fates of both their world, and ours, forever.

The costs will bring you to tears. Over. And over.

With any great series finale, some characters must make the ultimate sacrifice for peace and safety for the ones they love. This novel is no exception. Again, I'm going to refrain from spoilers, but don't worry, O'Neale definitely teaches the reader to read on the very edge of their seat and always to expect the unexpected. With plot twist after plot twist, I was shaking with anticipation by the novel's final chapters.

In a unique twist, O'Neale introduces one major character in the finale to the story, however anyone who has followed the series closely may not be that surprised by their appearance. What I can definitely say about the characters in this one is that Stacey really changes the game, right from the very beginning. We see several characters in an entirely new light, casting doubt over any preconceived notions the reader may have. I loved the idea of waiting until the end to reveal the true dedication behind the actions of some characters in this series. On that same note, seeing into the psyche of some characters on a much more personal level really opens the reader's eyes to the 'full' story behind O'Neale's literary universe.

Speaking a bit more on the characters, this one take three different POVs into consideration and crafts them in the most delicate of ways. Kalin, Rowan, and Marcus all play pivotal roles in the finale, but for entirely different reasons. They each have their own trials to face before the final battle to save Avalon. Thankfully, O'Neale really satisfied me with her ability to craft such individual storylines within such a fast-paced story. Interweaving the three storylines within such a powerful conclusion is a true testament to the literary landmark that is Stacey O'Neale.

Love, forgiveness, sacrifice, brotherhood, family, responsibility: I could go on and on with the plethora of themes O'Neale has implemented within Eternal Sacrifice. Each is fully explored and written to perfection. I'm not even lying when I say this story brought me to literal tears on at least three occasions.

As a series finale, I was greatly impressed. While my thoughts and predictions did not come true, I was still genuinely pleased with the end result. It was an ending that 'made sense' for the series, even if it wasn't particularly the one I was most looking for. That being said, the series ends rather abruptly and doesn't exactly tie up every possible loose end (as it shouldn't), leaving the door open for potential novellas or spin-offs in the future. I know this reader would love more insight to this world and the future of these characters. It is my belief that all readers of this series will be greatly impressed by the honorable finale O'Neale has crafted, sending off her series with respect and memorable flair!

As if it isn't already obvious by the amount of raving I have done for this series over the past two years, I am absolutely enamored of Stacey O'Neale's Mortal Enchantment series. I absolutely cannot get enough of this incredible story, the unforgettable cast, and the truly deep emotions found within the pages of these four stories. While I may have had a few issues with the finale, I still was beyond thrilled with the end result as a whole. That being said, it is my honor to be granting Eternal Sacrifice a near-perfect 5-star review. I highly recommend this series to any fans of YA, paranornal. elemental fiction, romance, or adventure novels. You will not regret this read!

I have been a big fan of this series. It has been intense. Kailin and Rowen clearly belonged together from the minute he laid eyes on her. The progression of their relationship was sweet. A bit slow but they are young even though the fate of the world rests on their shoulders. Marcus and Ariel....to not provide spoilers....heart breaking. Loving and heart breaking all in one. I had hoped for a epilogue because this series just ended quite abruptly. All questions were answered but a bit more of Rowan and Kailin's story or a glimpse into their future would have been fantastic.

I loved this series until the middle/end of this book. I feel like she was rushed to finish. The first two books were so well thought out and I felt the characters feelings, but honestly besides being sad over Ariel’s death it was empty for me. Everything seemed like a rush to get to the end, even the end wrapped up in 2 pages. I don’t want to go on and on, but it was a little of a letdown for me when I had a really good time reading the first two books.

Another page turner!

This is the last book in the series. I'm going to miss these characters and the land of Avalon. Since you need to read these in order to fully appreciate the storyline, I highly recommend the box set. It has the prequel novella that clarifies how everything came about. I guarantee you'll love this series.

I am a lover of fantasy, and when I saw the "for the lovers of Maas and Black" I was instantly intrigued. I am sad to say that these stories fell a bit flat for me. There was potential in the characters and the setting; I loved the nod to Arthurian legend, Avalon, and Merlin. I appreciated the complex world the writer was trying to create. But it didn't feel fully realized.

***May contain spoilers from previous books***

Eternal Sacrifice starts off right where Fragile Reign (my favorite book in the series) ends. Kalin is now the queen of the Air Elementals. While her people are still in mourning she has not a minute to catch her breathe. Valac is still out there, and still threating to cut the barrier that allows protection for the elementals. At the end of Fragile Reign we find that the only way to prevent destruction is with the Akasha, Kalin giving up her life. Rowan refuses to accept this and goes on a journey to find another way.

I was skeptical at first when I found out that this would be told in three points of view- Kalin, Rowan and Marcus’. I wasn’t sure how he would play into the mix and I was worried that it would take away from my Rowan time. A little selfish I am sure, but hey at least I am woman enough to admit it. His voice added a special element to the story. The events that unfold do so rapidly and it was nice to see when he was the voice of reason, as well as when he had to be reasoned with.

The connection these characters (Kalin, Rowan, Marcus and Ariel) have to each other is pretty hard core. It gives the book the added boost it need to push it from a good book to a great book. I cannot say enough about how four individuals truly understand each other. I know I am suppose to like Selene now, but I don’t. I think Ariel and Marcus would be disappointed, I am okay with that. She just rubs me the wrong way.

At one point in the book, I did have tweet- why? Why? Why? As well as a bit of how could you? I hoped it was as painful for the author as it was for me. She assured me that it was. I understood the why at the end. It was getting there that had me fuming mad, and a bit on edge. I loved getting Rowan’s back story- that was yeah…. I loved it.

Ultimately, this book comes down to choices. How the decisions we make have a rippling effect on those we love and those we hate. Can Kalin, Rowan and Marcus make the right decisions? Kalin comes into her own in this one, realizing what had to be done. She was the right mixed of young adult with an old soul.

If you want a book that will have your heart racing and your emotions on alert, pick this one up. Start with the first book in the series though.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

What did I think?
Loved it. This was a fantastic way to wrap up this wild series. Stacey answered all our questions and gave us the ending we were dreaming of.

Kalin and Rowan sure have things cut out for them in this novel. The worlds are potentially collapsing and the only way to stop it is sacrificing herself. The only way to save everyone is to say goodbye.

I'm going to level with you. I went into this book needing that NOT to happen. I needed the HEA I wanted and that was that.

I wont tell you what happened, but I will tell you this book broke my heart in so many ways, and in the same breath put it back together in a way I didn't think possible. It was beautiful and wonderful.

Rowan goes through SO much in this novel. He had a lot of hurt and a lot of growing up happen through the corse of it. The same went for Kalin. My heart ached for her. It is few novels that bring me to actual tears and this one did that.

A perfect ending. Let where I could see more, but it felt perfect and final.

Going Out on a High Note

Eternal Sacrifice is the final installment of Stacey O'Neale's Mortal Enchantment series. Rowan and Kalin have become rulers of their respective elemental courts and they have joined with the other rulers to face the threat of Valac and his rogue elementals. By acquiring the four sacred artifacts and threatening to cut down Avalon's veil with them, Valac intends to force the monarch's to abdicate and submit to his rule. He already has the Ring of Dispel and the sword, Excalibur, and now only needs The Green Armor and Shield to make good his threat. If he succeeds in getting all four of the , the veil will fall, causing thousands of elementals to age rapidly and die and the world will be thrown into apocalyptic chaos as the elements are unbalanced. It will be the end to all and the only way to prevent it at that point will be the sacrifice of the akasha's blood, killing Kalin.

From this dire beginning, Rowan and Kalin are forced into facing ever more difficult challenges and threats, forcing them to continue their growth and maturation. They learn more about themselves, their past and their futures as they are thrust into making decisions that have even greater effects both personal and to their courts...if not the world. Throughout, the cement of their relationship cures and its strength carries through the devastation that lays before them. No one is untouched and things will never be the same in the elemental courts.

The story touches on all of the great themes of life, death, love, loss, friendship, duty, sacrifice and hope. These themes while more adult in nature are handled in a respectful and circumspect nature, keeping the title in the young adult realm. The tale has its great moments of sadness, resolve and finally new beginnings that is sure to touch the reader and leave no loose threads to bedevil them. The arc of Mortal Enchantment finishes on a high note with the strongest novel of the three and I for one will miss seeing these characters again.

Eternal Sacrifice Review on K-Books

There were no words to explain just how excited I was when I was asked if I wanted to review this book for the blog tour. Ever since I read the prequel novella The Shadow Prince I was completely obsessed with this series. I loved it so much and it had my favourite aspects of a YA book, romance and mythology. I adored it and that continued through to book 1 and 2. Book 3 absolutely did not diasappoint and was a completely explosive and satisfying end to the series.

Eternal Sacrifice was phenomenal. Right from the very first page Stacey once again captured my heart and attention and I could not put the book down. I was all at once dying to find out what was going to happen while utterly afraid for what was going to happen to my favourite characters. I mean the title of Eternal Sacrifice doesn't really fill your heart with hope everyone will be ok does it?

All the way through this book I fell even more in love with Rowan and Kailin, knowing that they would do anything to save each other. It was so perfect! Eternal Sacrifice was such a phenomenal ending to a fantastic story. It utterly broke my heart and put me back together as well. I loved every single second of it.

If you are looking for a new series to read and love mythology and adventure and romance then I urge you to pick this book up. I loved every single second of the entire series. It was utterly fantastic and it will totally take your breath away. A must-read!

5 STARS!!

Eternal Sacrifice is the third and final book of the Mortal Enchantment series by Stacey O'Neale.

OMFG THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!! ALL THE FEELS!!

Valac is causing major mayhem and Rowan and Kalin need to figure out how to stop him and save their people and their world. But in order for them to achieve this goal, sacrifices will need to be made. They will need to make hard, difficult decisions. Decisions that could potentially cause them to lose the one they love the most.

This conclusion was enticing and addictive! After waiting for months after the cliffhanger from the third book, I was nearly DYING. I had to know what was going to happen next!!

This book had a lot of heartache and emotional rollercoasters!! I think I cried a good thousand times while reading this book. I absolutely loved it! The love, the loss, the struggle...it was perfect and Stacey couldn't have done it any better. This book was majorly epic in all proportions.

But even though Stacey made me experiece all these emotions, she still somehow made everything work out in the end. While there are some characters that I will miss very much, Stacey did a phenomenal job with the series' conclusion. I highly recommend not just the Mortal Enchantment series, but ANY of Stacey's books. She is an amazing writer and I can't wait to see what she has next in store for us.

I was not disappointed by Mrs O'Neal's again. It was a hard book to put down. From page one I wanted to finish it.Even throughout the whole book I am telling myself that I knew how it was going to end. Boy was I thrown for a loop. O'Neal's knows just how to draw you into her stories, and just when you think you know what is coming next WRONG! I would not even want to tell you anything about what happens other than to tell you that this is the best book series that I have read in a long time, and I read every day of my life. I think there is just enough story where O'Neal's could even write another one in the series. I. for one would sure buy it. All of O'Neal's books should win awards for her being an excellent story teller!

I absolutely loved the first two books in this series, and while my adoration tapered off in the third and fourth installments, I still feel it's a good series and the author gave it a good ending.

I guess my decreasing interest came from the increased emphasis on Arthurian legend as well as the main character being revealed as the "akasha", which felt a little bit too Avatar-Last-Airbenderish for me. Both of these elements detracted from what drew me to the series in the first place, a story set in a fairy world in conflict with the mortal world.

The series was, however, imaginative and different, and I would especially recommend it for those who like their fairy tales with a twist.

Beyond pleased with the wrap up to this series, although I would've like for Marcus's story to end on a higher note. Ariel was definitely a memorably sweet character that I would have loved to have been a factor/part of the pages of the finale to this series.
