I remember reading this book to my children and they loved it.
Looking at this book today it's a strange and scary story for children.
Would I read this book to my grandchildren today and yes I would.
Believe he got eaten in the end. The stuff that nightmares are made and a brilliant bedtime story.
Love the older stories.

This classsic fairytale can be enjoyed by old and young. I started reading and enjoying books through such fairytales and now I enjoy reading it with my daughter. The catchy song, which the Gingerbread Man sings (run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!) brings laughter among the readers and you look forward to singing it again as the Gingerbread Man, makes his next encounter.

One encounter in particular with the cunning Fox, conveys a strong moral; not everyone you meet in life can be trusted. The Fox seemed kind and trust worthy, but in reality he had a cunning plan in mind.

I am really fond of this book and I am sure that generations to come will enjoy reading it too!

I thought that this book is awesome because I like the part in the book when the gingerbread man ran away and people saw the gingerbread man and wanted the gingerbread man to be the people and animals dinner they tried to catch the gingerbread man and the animals and the people try to get the gingerbread man but people and animals can't swim but only foxes can swim and the fox ate the gingerbread man up and he said yum yum I loved my dinner the end

NEVER understood the moral of this story.

The man had the right to live, to self defense, what is the moral of a story that punishes him at the end? Was he supposed to give in without resistance to being eaten right from the start?

What does the author want children to learn from this book?!

I loved this book as a kid. I would love to share it with my future students as well. It has a kind of sick ending but most old fairy tales have odd endings. This book is easy to read and gives younger children the chance to read the traditional tale of the gingerbread man.
