Fast cars, a little grand theft auto, and blending in with the wrong kind of crowd, it's just another day in the life for private investigator Alexis Parker. A dozen cars have been stolen, and Alex is hired by a high-end firm to identify the thieves and put an end to the spree. Just when Alex is moments away from busting the car thieves, one of the stolen vehicles is found at the scene of a double homicide.
The deeper Alex digs, the more complicated the case becomes. Instead of just a few GTAs, there is a killer for hire on the loose, and a cop from her past ends up in his crosshairs. Alexis Parker must hunt the hunter. He's eluded Interpol and the European authorities. Now he's here. His identity is unknown. His contracted targets are unidentifiable, and his method for killing is gruesome, dehydrating and then drowning his victims so their remains resemble human soup. The only name they have for him is the Camel. It's a battle of wits that requires Alex to be at the top of her game if she hopes to survive.

I enjoyed the first couple of Alexis Parker books but the constant self anguish about what she really wants to be when she grows up, finally got to be a drag and got in the way of the mystery so I couldn’t get through this book I quit about a third of the way through
This was another good one, although the serial killer aspect seemed different than what I'm used to reading. And I hated how everyone kept saying that Parker needed to stay out of it, yet they needed her.
Alexis once again trying to ascertain how many injuries could she get away with without heading for the E.R. Nothing is simple when Alexis comes on board, going undercover as a car thief, her former colleague, Ryan is already ensconced as deputy to the gang leader. Top of the range cars, collectors models stolen to order, but the car theft ring has connections with a hit man known as the Camel. Alexis is working with the police department & Interpol, Ryan's employers. The car ring is broken, but she retains her persona as Alexis Riley and uses it to continue her association with those gang members not apprehended by police. The book drags a bit in the middle & I lost interest until I picked it up a few days later and finished it in one sitting. First time I have left a G.K. Parks novel having lost interest.
The suspense in this book was right on, but what I actually loved most was the humour. This is the funniest book yet, between Alex’s sarcasm and Martin’s crazy sexually focussed wit, plus the rest of the posse, it’s just great.
On the serious side, there’s a lot of tragedy, with lost partners being a theme for a few of the officers. Mark is my favourite friend, though Derek and Nick are great, as is Thompson. In this book, the reappearance of Ryan from the Paris incident was well done, Alex has some solid friends.
This series gets better and better, so glad there’s more to read.
These stories are great. Once again Alex is paired up working with the French policeman, Ryan. He's going by Hoyt and they've both infiltrated a car thievery ring. She's working for a car security company, but he's chasing an assassin that goes by the Camel. They both hit highs and lows, he's even tortured when his cover is blown but she saves him. They arrest the thieves and identify the hit man.
As every other book in this series, this book was nearly impossible to put down. This author is so excellent. There are so many exciting subplots in each story. There are twists and turns galore.; each one as interesting and unexpected as the next. I can hardly wait to read the next one. I'm shocked that I hadn't heard of this author sooner. If you like a well written mystery, you are going to love this book. The whole series is amazing.
I am now through book 6 and skipped pretty much all of it. About halfway through I read 1-2 lines per page and got the general gist of the book. It would have really been a bit better if Tommy would have been the contract killer. Getting tedious with her going back and forth to her old job. So fickle and too much whining. She just does dumb things and does not seem to be too bright.
I highly recommend this series to this point. As soon as I finish up, I am ready to move on to the next one. Plots are always interest, engaging, and action packed. I really enjoy the strong female lead character too.
Alex does what Alex does best, again. The best part, though, is that she is finally starting to deal with her issues for real. Yet another great story line, the usual run of lovable characters, and the return of an older one.
Another thriller by G.K. Parks. Alex Parker doesn't need help finding the bad guys they find her. I love to figure out who the bad guys are G.K. Parks makes it very hard to find them. Lots of twists and turns. Great read.
Well developed plot with a twist I didn't see coming. Plenty of action and suspense between the cars and the contract killer. Likable characters and realistic dialogue, as always. It's great to see how the characters have grown throughout the series, and it was nice revisiting some scarcely mentioned characters. Satisfying ending, but wondering where the next book will pick up.
