A year of my life is missing, stolen by darkness. I can’t remember anything, and when I return to Embernia, the realm I left behind hasn’t changed.
But I have.
Once, I was a bonded Skysinger, the best of my kind. Now, I return to whispers, suspicion, and a stranger in the mirror. My disappearance fractured more than memories. It left cracks in the life I tried to build and the thunderous relationship I shared with Vaylen Stormsong, Embernia’s irresistible High Prime.
He’s spent the last year carrying the weight of duty and the grief of my loss. But my return brings more than renewed passion. It brings danger. Shadows gather between us, secrets I can’t remember and forces determined to tear us apart.

This one picked up after the end of Swift Wings Shadowed Heart.
Still a good job of world and character building. The story and the premise are good, the plot is decent and though I didnt love this book, it kept me interested enough to finish it.
I feel like the love between Rhea and Vaylen was a bit forced. There was a lot of tension and lust, but they didnt spend much time together getting to know each other, in either of the books, to be in love and as attached as they seem. I dont enjoy the insta-love trope so this is on me.
The cliffhanger was a good one, but pretty much what I expected was going to happen. Its a decent read. I think maybe the writing style is just not for me.
This sequel hit the air hard and fast. This installment feels bigger, bolder, and more emotionally charged than the first book, and yet it still captures the heart and magic of Embernia in a way that feels deeply personal.
Rhealyn returns a year after a disappearance she hardly remembers. Once a bonded Skysinger, she comes back to suspicion, rumors, and a reflection she barely recognizes. Her memory is fractured, and with that comes guilt, fear, and a hunger to reclaim both who she was and who she still wants to become. Vaylen Stormsong, High Prime of Embernia, has carried the weight of her absence, and his grief, too long. Their reunion is not just passionate; it’s full of unanswered questions and dangerous notes that had me turning pages with my heart in my throat.
The pacing is both relentless and thoughtful. Action scenes hit with real stakes, but Seymour also gives us breathing room. Those quiet moments of reconnection, reflection, and revelation feel earned. The tension between Rhealyn’s quest for truth and her fear of what she finds keeps you on edge in the best way.
The worldbuilding in Embernia deepens beautifully here. The Screechclaw War rages, and ancient magic stirs beneath the skies. The idea of Skysingers, their bonds to dragons, and the cost of power is felt in every scene. Secrets and forces beyond just politics lurk in the background, and Rhealyn’s journey to unravel what happened during her absence drives the very soul of the war. It all feels dangerous, alive, and rich with potential.
What really made this book shine for me was the emotional core. Rhealyn’s loss, Vaylen’s grief, and the way both grapple with trust, identity, and legacy... it all felt raw and genuine. There are stakes that go beyond the battlefield, and Seymour doesn’t shy away from letting her characters feel broken.
If you loved Swift Wings Shadowed Heart, you’ll absolutely want to dive into this. And even if you didn’t, Silver Claws Crimson Tears stands on its own as an emotionally gripping, high-stakes fantasy full of dragons, and secrets. Ingrid Seymour has crafted something truly special here, and I’m already eager for book three.
***ARC REVIEW***Holy cliffhanger batman! After picking up directly after the first books cliffhanger ending I expected to have some of my questions answered in this installment, Instead hardly any questions were answered and once again I am left completely dangling off another cliff. With all of that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am eagerly awaiting the next in the series! After going "Missing" for an entire year our FMC finds her way back to her bonded dragon and the man she loves, however she can not remember anything about her missing time. With the war with the screechclaws growing more dangerous, and her romance with Vaylen still growing and still very much forbidden, Rhea will have some major decisions to make and some even bigger secrets to keep.

Enter the unique world of Embernia, where dragon-riding is the realm's salvation. This is a romantasy series, suitable for 17+ that grows spicier with every book. For fans of Rebecca Yarros, Sarah J. Maas, and Jennifer L. Armentrout
Book Fam!!! I am still tail-flicking, yowling, and clutching my whiskers over this read. My heart was NOT ready for the pain, my hisses were NOT prepared for the betrayal I did not see coming, and the plot twists hit me like my own hairballs after a dramatic afternoon groom.
The story picks up immediately where we left off and launches straight into chaos that will leave you pawing for more. But was it good, you ask?
Devastatingly. Beautiful. Ingrid has officially clawed her way onto my favorite-authors shelf.
Characters (aka the reason I’m emotionally damaged):
🐉 Rhea (FMC) – Dragon rider. Weaver. Woman on a mission and willing to sacrifice everything for her people. The cost? …yeah, I’m not coughing up spoilers.
🌬️ Vaylen (MMC) – Hello, wind daddy. Welcome to the collectible daddy shelf. Book 1: I adore him. Book 2: Protect. This. Man. At. All. Costs. (I will unleash monster hairballs if I say more.)
🔥 Zephyros (Dragon) – The moody, secret-hoarding, heartbreak-inducing dragon of my dreams and nightmares. His pain had me refusing my tuna snacks in solidarity.
📚 Phoebe (Dragon Rider) – Ride or die. Book dragon energy. I would throw paws for her and I would enjoy it.
If you love dragons, betrayal, emotional destruction, loyalty, and screaming into the void at 2 AM… go read this immediately.
I did have fun reading this, but I did not enjoy the ending. And the longer I sit here writing about it, the more it makes me kind of angry. Some will say that the cliffhanger was to be expected, and to a certain extent I agree. But we spend the whole book trying to figure out what happened to our main character in the last year, we get bits and pieces as she struggles to put her memories back together just to still be kept in the dark? She does remember in the end, but the reader isn’t privy to that information. Add to that that one of the other main plot lines were her and her trust issues, learning to trust others etc., just to find out that she basically isn’t that person anymore and just…orchestrated everything herself as to be more believable? Also, the poor dragon. Bond with me Zephyros, I won’t ditch you for some dragon goddess. 🫶
Ohhh the betrayal!! I wasn’t expecting any of it!! Once again, I was hooked with this one but, I’m also still reeling after that ending. Rhea is fierce, and feels like she must handle everything alone but she’s not alone. She has people in her corner willing to help whenever she asks, but she needs to be able to see that herself. I really liked seeing Rhea and Zephyros (her dragon) have long chats and how closer they got in this book. My heart hurt for Zephyros. Vaylen, has my heart and I’m just not okay with the twist and turns that just happened. LOL You’ve been warned. This one throws some punches.
A very special thanks to the author for the gifted copy.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME ??? Fantastic !! I thought the first one had me hooked but this just left me with a book hangover. Rhea😭 my shaylaaa , I don’t know what you’re up to but please don’t hurt my man Vaylen.

What, is all I can say. I loved the banter between Rhea and her dragon in this book and the story picks up where the first one ends. I don’t know how I feel because I am still trying to understand everything that has happened. The ending….. What? No!!! There were parts where I wanted to punch the fmc. I love Vaylen. I am team Vaylen. The cliffhanger has me again!
3.5 Starting at the point where we left off at book one, I did struggled in the beginning but kept going since there are questions that still haven’t been answered yet.
And then another cliffhanger?! I plan on reading book three.
Talk about a grand return back to a fantasy romance. Val and Rhea make a smashing return back to Embernia. Hold on to your hats readers. All the questions and answers that you were looking for from the first book have been answered in this second book. And just when you thought all your answers have been met. All your assumptions and theories have been spelled out. We’ll take all those place them in a neat pile and set them on fire. This book just got a little more wicked and dangerous. I usually don’t start my reviews with characters who are not the main ones. But Let me start with Silas. Some of you may already know this interesting character. Just when you thought that you had some pegged. They just get even nastier. That thing or what ever he is, because I can’t call him a man. That thing had me boiling to the point of I was about to pop my lid. I was so hoping Dakar would land him a few facers or at least Val. I loved the plot immensely. It continues on from the first book, with our female main character Rhea searching for answers about herself and where she comes from. The plot and the characters motivations both sync hand in hand. It was consistent right up to the end. I enjoyed how the romance and the political warfare weaved through the book. Giving the book its high and low effects. Some were exciting. Others were steamy and some were emotional. The point though is these moments made a heck of a good book. The dialogue was simple and understanding. It made reading the book so easy. Some phrases were a little funny. The characters all were amazing. They made an amazing story even better. They were strong and powerful. They were powerful and so effective in so many parts of the book. Val and Rhea were the biggest contributors to book. Finding their way to Each other left me emotionally drained. I loved it and then I grew tired of it and I then loved it again. Someone had to give. I didn’t think that it would give some much though. I mean what the heck? My mouth was left hanging open. And that ending… what in the h-e- double hockey sticks was that?! I’m not sure if I was hurt or confused. It was a little bit of both I guess. Readers the book is great. I enjoyed it a lot. I for more books from this writer. I give this book two snaps and twist. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!
A Masterpiece of Emotional Damage: Book Two Delivers a Gripping, Gut-Wrenching Sequel The highly anticipated second installment plunges the reader immediately back into the fray, opening right on the devastating cliffhanger of book one. This novel is a sophisticated study in high-stakes drama, propelling the narrative forward while deepening the emotional chasm between its leads. The enduring highlight remains the sharp, witty banter between Rhaelyn and her dragon, which serves as a necessary anchor of levity against the rising tide of conspiracy and heartache. Yet, the core of the story belongs to Vaylen. His relentless, "rules-be-damned" pursuit to retrieve Rhaelyn solidifies his standing as the ultimate book boyfriend—a figure who demands protection, and for whom I remain staunchly Team Vaylen. The central conflict is Rhaelyn's return: suffering from amnesia that compresses her entire time in captivity into a single, lost day. This creates a powerful, agonizing dynamic. The sporadic resurfacing of fragmented, heartbreaking memories acts like narrative shrapnel, threatening to dismantle the already fragile bond between her and Vaylen. This is not just drama; this is expertly crafted emotional damage, and the depth of their sorrow is palpable. The author excels at leveraging uncertainty. While I found myself occasionally exasperated by Rhaelyn's choices (a clear sign of a complex, well-written, and frustrating protagonist), this lack of clarity is intentional. We, the readers, are strategically kept in the dark, mirroring Rhaelyn's confusion and driving the intense hunger for answers regarding the ancient prophecy and the powerful forces manipulating events. Beyond the escalation of mystery, the book also features a welcome increase in "spice," integrating romantic tension seamlessly with the political plot. This novel masterfully avoids spoon-feeding closure, instead presenting tantalizing gaps that ensure maximum reader investment. The final, brutal cliffhanger is a shockwave that leaves one truly reeling. If you crave a fantasy series defined by complex characters, relentless pacing, and a sense of pervasive mystery that guarantees sleepless nights, this sequel is a must-read. It’s an intoxicating, frustrating, and utterly unforgettable experience.

This is book 2 of Wings of Embernia series, you do need to read the first one in order to follow along or to me you’ll be lost. As it does jump straight into where book 1 was left at. We have trainings, fighting, bonded dragons and even elemental magic. Holy fkn shit! That ending! Rhealyn my girl; what did you do??!!!! Okay so I love how we get to see Rhealyns character evolve and learn how to trust herself and those around her. But my man Vaylen; he fell so hard and so fast for her. The ending was definitely left on a cliffhanger. I need book 3 asap!
Silver Claws Crimson Tears is the explosive second installment in Ingrid Seymour’s Wings of Embernia series, and it somehow manages to outdo the first in every possible way. We dive straight back into the aftermath of book one’s cliffhanger, where danger is constant, secrets run deep, and Rhea’s world is teetering on the edge of chaos.
This book constantly had me on the edge of my seat! Between the nonstop danger Rhea finds herself in, the delicious push-and-pull tension with Vaylen (I swear, the man redefines the term “rules don’t apply to me”), and the unraveling mystery surrounding her missing memories and the goddess Heratrix, I was hooked. My heart rate never fully recovered, but I couldn’t look away for a second.
The pacing is perfect, with every chapter ending with that “just one more” energy until suddenly it’s 2 a.m. and you’re emotionally compromised. The banter between characters is sharp, funny, and perfectly timed to break up the intensity, and the world of Embernia somehow feels even more vivid and alive than in book one.
And Zephyros, my beloved chaos dragon, is easily one of my favorite book dragons ever! His snark, loyalty, and timing were absolute perfection. Every scene with him was a highlight.
This series just keeps getting better. The action hits harder, the romance burns hotter, and the mythos keeps expanding, leaving so many burning questions that need to be answered now! I genuinely can’t wait to see how everything comes together in book three, because if it’s anything like this, we’re in for a wild ride.
So yeah, consider this your sign: if you love dragons, slow-burn tension, high-stakes magic, and characters who constantly make you feel everything, Silver Claws Crimson Tears is a must. And for those still in a Fourth Wing book slump, this is the next series you need to pick up, STAT
So this follows directly on from book 1, Rahelyn has literally disappeared into the mountain by forces unknown, Valeyn is left devastated and bereft and poor Zephyros becomes a Greyfriars Bobby tribute act and refuses to leave the place where she disappeared.
Fast forward a year and Rhaelyn is spat out of the mountain, a shadow of her former self, thin, dehydrated and with no memory of the past year. As soon as she is taken back to the keep she attracts suspicion and hostility, and she also is still facing a murder charge. She has nightmares and dreams about her time in captivity but cant seperate fact from fiction, she remembers a mysterious white haired man with amber eyes called Tahr who seemed to mean something to her.
Valeyn is keen to pick up from where they left off but Rhaelyn is ŕeluctant to get close to anyone, such is the weight of all her secrets and when the King takes a special interest in her and tries to get her to spy on the order she knows she has to try and unlock her memories and make sense of the ancient prophecies and tales that she finds.
This book was a good follow up, it had intrigue, mystery, spice, romance, Rhaelyn's bond with her dragon is stronger than ever and her Weaver powers are becoming stronger too. We find out more about the screechclaws and that everything may not be as it seems. There is a cliffhanger ending and a huge plot twist which leaves everything on its head.
Change is coming to Embernia and nothing will be the same. It was an enjoyable, fast paced, action packed read. There is everything to play for in book 3.
Silver Claws Crimson Tears was outstanding! We see a totally different side to Rhea. Her vulnerability is front and center in this one, but who wouldn't be vulnerable after all the crap that she's gone through? Rhea uses snark and sarcasm to deflect, but it's easy to look past the mask and see her trauma. Yet she still goes on, as fierce as ever. The first few chapters are from Vaylen's perspective. I could feel the weight of his grief. My heart couldn't help but ache for him. That he cared that deeply for Rhea—honestly, it made me fall for him even more. When they finally reconnect, things get intense, and I was loving it. Then Vaylen had to mess up, and the angst hit hard. This couple is going to kill me.
This is one of the most intense forbidden romances I've ever read. That alone is enough to keep one on edge. Still, there is the mystery of Rhea's lost year, the new developments with the Screechclaws, and a missing goddess, with enemies everywhere. Of course, I was hooked. It is blatantly obvious that there is an even bigger mystery in play. I'm trying to figure it out, but I come up with nothing. Zephyros was absolutely amazing! I loved him. His love for Rhea shows in his protectiveness and caring attitude; their banter was perfection. I love the bond that they have. Their personalities match so well. At this point, they might as well be one being.
HFS! That ending was utter devastation. What a plot twist! I think this might be Ingrid Seymour's most savage cliffhanger to date. I cannot! There's only one book left, and I need this fixed. I'm not ready for Ivory Fangs Radiant Soul, but I can’t wait.
Read the first third before I just couldn’t go on. I was mildly interested in what happened to our “protagonist” Rhea, partly since I liked the High Prime lead male she crafted (then tossed his characterization as smart and stalwart under the bus) as he became eager to toss his entire life and a career away for sex.
Part of the problem here is “shiny new object” syndrome what with Rhea getting tossed into some underground world where another super hot dude seems to maaaybe have replaced the High Prime in her fetish collection but who knows? About mid-way through, the plot becomes so complicated and confusing, the story collapses under the weight of all the coincidences and illogical happenings.
As others have pointed out, the two leads have insta-love or insta-hots, with little character development to cement their relationship. Plus, Rhea is annoying. I mean really, really annoying. She makes stupid quips no matter the situation which scream stupid not spirited. Then, whatever, she gets away with it. Stakes? Not sure since it’s so confusing. Plus, there are harpies? Huh? The mythology is strange.
A “me-only” annoyance probably but I can’t wrap my head around it is having dragon riders elevating or levitating above their dragon’s heads instead of riding them. I just can’t.
Needless to say, I skimmed through the last half to find out Rhea was working with the underground dude for “good” reasons and therefore had to break the first dude’s heart, big reveal of the lost dragon, pivot to scene and out.
I expect she’s not really or something (another twist) but at this point I do not care.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
No, no, no, no, no, what did I just read!? It can’t be over, book 3 needs to be here NOW!!! 🤯 you can’t leave me like this Ingrid!
Rhaelyn was taken by a mysterious man at the end of book 1 and we pick up right where we left off. Vaylen is doing anything he can to find her. He will tear through every pebble of the mountain to find her. No matter the amount of time it takes.
When Rhaelyn does finally return, she doesn’t remember anything from her capture. It’s like she’s only been gone a day to her. Desperate for any scrap of memory she can find about her time, small glimpses reappear. But they make no sense and begrudgingly seem to only lead to heartbreak for her and Vaylen. There are bigger forces at play and an ancient prophecy may soon come to fruition. Rhaelyn doesn’t feel like she can trust anyone but it may be her only option to find out what happened to her and what it all means in the grand scheme of things.
This book for me was heartbreaking to read for Rhaelyn and Vaylen. I’m honestly nervous how it’s going to go in the next book. And I’m honestly a little peeved at Rhae. We, as the reader, don’t have all the info yet and the mystery of the whole story sucks you in like crazy. But I’m also afraid to get the whole story 😬
We have a bit more spice 🌶️ in this book and I do truly love Vaylen. He’s once again very much in the mode of “f*** the rules” when it comes to Rhaelyn. We need to protect this man ❤️
I need book 3 asap! There’s so much to tackle in the next book and I neeeeeed the details!!!
The heartbreak from Vaylen in this book rips me in two! And I'm not going to lie he's my new book boyfriend. If your like me and you love him & Rhealyn together you better strap yourself in because your about to go on a wild ride. And I'm not sure you will like where the roller coaster goes. I know by the time I got to the end of the book I had more questions than answers. And I didn't know which way was up. Here's my suggestion read this one twice. I thought it helped me understand more but after talking with another die hard fan we both realized we had too many questions. You'd expect to know more about what happened to Rhealyn while she was gone for a year but no. She conveniently can't remember anything! And things get worse for Vaylen after he tells her he loves her because Rhealyn remembers being with the jerk who kidnapped her. How could the author do that to Vaylen? He's already put his whole life & career on the line for Rhea. I'm so confused by what the king expects Rhealyn to know. I mean is he working with the Screechclaws? Is Rhealyn the guardian to Heratrix? Why does That & the king both want her? Are the dragon eggs going to hatch & help get rid of the Screechclaws once & forever or did I read there was something bad in them? I need to double check that. I read this book one and a half times because I was being paid to read (proofread) two more after this one. They start piling up fast. I don't think you will like the ending. And it will be awhile before we get the last book.
We jump right back onto the cliff we were hanging off in Swift Wings Shadowed Heart. That was why I chose to continue into Silver Claws Crimson Tears.
We don't get many answers, in fact, I feel left with more questions. But I also feel like I know where it's going. I fear I will not be following.
I will give credit to the amount of world building required in book one, the details and mysteries both solved and unsolved in book two. It's just not holding its grip on me. More than once I had to convince myself not to stop and move on to my next read. It's not the normal frustration I feel when an FMC is being too stubborn or indignant, standing in her own way with no path forward. It's something deeper for me that I can't really explain.
The revelations here weren't as shocking as they should have been, which tells me I am not connected. Because they should have been shocking! Or at least risen some feelings within me. But all I felt was relief that I was done, ever the dedicated ARC reviewer (unless it crosses a hard line for me, I finish... always).
If you love this, I love that for you!! It is worthy of love. If you can't wait to finish Rhea's story, I am excited for your excitement! My curiosity may get the best of me... maybe.
Still absolutely hate the invented profanity! Sorry...
Silver Claws, Crimson Tears picks up right where book one left off and turns everything up—more danger, more emotion, more betrayal, and definitely more heat between the characters. This one pulled me in from the first chapter and didn’t let go.
I loved how the author balanced fierce action with those softer, heartbreaking moments. The world of Embernia feels even richer this time around—darker, sharper, more unpredictable. The political tension, the shifting alliances, the creatures, the magic… it all had that “I can’t stop reading” energy.
The main character really grew in this book. You feel her strength, her confusion, her rage, and the way her heart gets torn in places she never expected. And the love interest? Still dangerous. Still magnetic. Still the exact type of morally-gray hero that keeps me obsessed with fantasy romance.
The middle of the book had that perfect storm of twists, secrets coming out, and a few moments that honestly punched me in the chest. And that ending??? It left me staring at the last page like… I need the next book right now.
If you love fantasy romance with claws, power struggles, slow-burn-but-still-searing chemistry, and stakes that get higher with every chapter, this installment delivers all of it. A perfect sequel that makes the whole series even better.
Holy dragons! That ending! She did it again with the cliff hanger! I love reading books where I have no idea where the plot is going or who the true villains really are. This kept me reading until dawn. While book 1 was a little better in my opinion due to a whole lot of plot stall in this one where a majority of time is spent on the FMC trying to recover memories, piece together fragments and figure out what is going on, I absolutely loved seeing the devotion of her dragon and the MMC to her. We got character depth with her struggle to open up and show her true self when she spent her entire life hiding who she was and building walls. While there was action and battles, it was not the focus of this book. I wish the plot could have moved a little faster and we could have got more memories sooner but I think the pace was necessary to be believable, build tension, and to build relationships between the characters. I am so torn about the FMC’s future! I adore Vaylen but this new mystery man and what happened during that missing year is so juicy and enticing. Two men claiming our FMC as theirs… 🔥🔥🔥🔥oh the drama! I’m dying to know what is really going on! We all need all the answers in book 3 so we know the true arc of this plot!
Ingrid Seymour does it again with the second Wings of Embernia book. I was already hooked with the story but now I’m itching for the third. I hate cliffhangers!!
Spice 🌶️🌶️ Morally gray FMC He falls first (and hard) 🖤 Dragons and elemental magic ✨ Multi-POV
In this second book, we follow Rhea as she tries to find out what happens after the mountain swallows her up. She’s struggling with the memories that keep popping up and the life she was trying to build before a year was stolen from her.
We are also following Vaylen who is just swoon-worthy and my dream man. He loves Rhea despite her past, he would go to the ends of the earth for her, and he would cut down anyone or anything in his path to save her. I love seeing his side of the story and just how much he loves Rhea. One could only wish for someone this dedicated by their side.
We also dive a tiny bit more into Zephyros who is a broody dragon that is bonded to Rhea. I love him just as much as Vaylen. He said that Rhea will be his last rider and that just breaks my heart. He needs to live 5000 more years! But alas, I understand his plight.
This book is great for anyone who loves Fourth Wing and The Last Airbender. I love the use of elemental magic!
🔥 ARC Review — Silver Claws Crimson Tears by Ingrid Seymour 🔥 Swift Wings Shattered Heart #2
If you love a sequel that grabs you by the throat from page one, buckle up—because this book does not ease you in. It launches straight into high-stakes danger, emotional wreckage, and the kind of fantasy tension that keeps you awake at 2 a.m. whispering “just one more chapter.”
Rhea - our morally gray, bonded dragon rider FMC - is everything I want in a heroine. Fierce, flawed, and fighting for pieces of herself. After being taken captive and returned a year later with zero memory of what happened, she’s thrown into a whirlwind of danger, secrets, and consequences she can’t even remember causing.
Every time I thought I had this story figured out… plot twist! No, I did not know what was coming.
And THAT ENDING……..WOW!
I’m a total sucker for a good cliffhanger, and this one left me staring at my Kindle like, you did NOT just do that to me. I need book three immediately.
⭐️ Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️ Spice: 🌶️.5
If you want an addictive fantasy romance series that leaves scorch marks on your heart, Swift Wings Shattered Heart is it.
I was an ARC reader for this book. I saw it advertised on TikTok and was intrigued and signed up never having read the first book. I actually didn't know it was part of a series and when I got the email to download the book, I realized it was book 2 and so I went and got book 1 off of amazon and read it in an afternoon then finished this in that evening and the next afternoon. I could not put it (or book 1) down and can not wait to find out what happens in book 3! I loved the world and unique magic, the characters were great, the banter was awesome and funny between characters and their friends and dragons. The only critique I had was the overuse of characters last names when we know them well. I felt it was a tad repetitive especially after getting to know them and following them for two books and the last name being used all the time in dialogue sounds kind of weird, but maybe that's just me. This book has a great plot, awesome twists and will keep you hooked from page 1! Perfect for those who love books with dragons, spicy romance, morally grey strong heroines and unique worldbuilding.
The second book in Ingrid Seymour’s Wings of Embernia series, picks up instantly where Book One left off and drops readers straight back into a world pulsing with dragons, forbidden romance, and political danger. Seymour continues to shine in her descriptive atmosphere and multi-POV storytelling, expanding the emotional depth of her characters while broadening the mythos of Embernia. The lost-memory arc adds tension and heartbreak, especially as the heroine returns to a life that has reshaped itself in her absence, and her dynamic with Vaylen crackles with unresolved history.
The worldbuilding only grows richer here — dragons are woven into the fabric of politics, prophecy, and power struggles in ways that feel both epic and intimate. Seymour balances intrigue, danger, and slow-burn heat with skill, making every chapter feel purposeful.
And yes, the cliff-hanger hits hard. Seymour absolutely knows how to hook her readers, leaving you desperate for the next installment. If you love romantasy filled with dragons, tension, secrets, and high-stakes emotion, this sequel delivers in every way.
- Dragons - Fantasy romance - Secrets - Forbidden love
Oh. My. Word. Ingrid Seymour is the queen of the cliffhanger! I did NOT see this ending coming! After reading Swift Wings Shadowed Heart, I was so excited to pick up this book. The ending of SWSH left me gasping and NEEDING to know what happened to Rhea after THAT ENDING....
This story picks up immediately after the ending of book one, so PLEASE make sure to read the first book to fully enjoy and understand this story. I had some guesses for what was in/under the mountain and I was only partially correct.
As the story progresses, Rhea is still trying to piece together the events from the last year. She discovers that Vaylen has been searching for her and that her dragon Zephyros could not feel her through their bond.
The conflicts in their world have escalated in the time she was gone as well, and their enemies have changed tactics. All of this comes to a head when Rhea has some of her memories return. And I was NOT expecting the twist to that!
Book 3 needs to come out as soon as possible because I. Am. REELING!
A Fierce, Addictive Shifter Romance You Won’t Put Down
Silver Claws Crimson Tears by Ingrid Seymour is a wild, emotional ride from start to finish. Seymour blends danger, desire, and supernatural intrigue in a way that hooks you from page one and does not let up.
The world-building is vivid and immersive, making you feel every heartbeat of the pack dynamic—its loyalty, its secrets, and its simmering tensions. The characters are equally compelling: fierce, vulnerable, and complex in all the right ways. The chemistry crackles, the stakes are high, and every twist lands with that perfect mix of shock and satisfaction.
What I loved most is how Seymour balances action with emotion. The claws-and-fangs intensity is there, but so are the softer moments—those raw, heart-squeezing scenes that remind you why you’re rooting for these characters so hard.
If you love shifter romances with bite, beautifully layered characters, and enough suspense to keep your pulse racing, *Silver Claws Crimson Tears* is an absolute must-read. I devoured it and already want more.
We jump right back into the story, exactly where book one’s major cliffhanger left off. Then, after a one-year time jump, Rhaelyn suddenly reappears just as mysteriously as she vanished. Vaylen and Zephyros were devastated by her disappearance, and her sudden return brings just as much confusion but also relieve.
Rhaelyn comes back with no memory of what happened to her. She has flashes of memories, but she can’t piece it all together. She is determined to uncover the truth and her memories, but she wants to do it alone so that she won’t put Vaylen or her friends in danger. Meanwhile, Vaylen just wants her to be honest with him, no matter how painful the truth might be. Despite his unbreakable sense of honor and duty, his growing attraction with Rhaelyn makes it clear, she will always come first.
I also absolutely loved to read the banter between Rhaelyn and Zephyros, her grumpy dragon. Once again, the book ends on a huge cliffhanger, and I honestly wanted to throw my Kindle across the room. I need to know what happens next!
