An unexpected hookup. A surprise pregnancy. A CEO who won't give up.
Eva Pavlak didn’t plan to sleep with a stranger the night of her best friend’s bachelorette party. She certainly didn’t expect her “Davey from Wrigleyville” to be Davey Delphine, the billionaire CEO of her new company. He’s her boss, and now…the father of her unborn twins.
Eva’s determined to keep her head down, climb the corporate ladder, and handle this pregnancy on her own. The last thing she wants is a man who will use his money and influence to exert control over her—especially not a man who could upend her career and wound her heart.
Davey’s not used to hearing no. But when Eva shuts him out, he decides to prove he’s not just playing the long game. He’s playing for keeps. As the two navigate office politics, family fallout, and breakdown emotional walls one thing becomes clear—this power move might be the one that changes everything.
Power Move is a steamy workplace age-gap romance featuring a fiercely independent heroine, a cinnamon roll billionaire, and all the chaos that comes when one wild night turns into forever. This book can be read as a standalone, but picks up after Cal and Daphne's arc in Executive Decision.

Maude Winters is a romance author who writes cozy and spicy fiction. She’s a horse girl through-and-through and lives in the Midwest with her husband, horse girl daughter, and two dogs.
Maude has lived throughout the world but attributes her interest in writing about the intersection of modern politics, feminism, and royalty with her time spent in the UK as a twenty-something.
Power Move is an entertaining, spicy romance filled with witty banter and plenty of hilarious moments. The storyline was engaging, and I especially enjoyed the way the plot developed with Eva and Davey’s relationship.
The book does use strong language quite frequently, which may not appeal to every reader, and some aspects of Eva’s past relationships didn’t quite resonate with me personally. However, that didn’t take away from the overall charm and humor of the story.
This is a great choice for readers looking for a breezy, hilarious, and romantic escape.
Thank you to Victory Editing and NetGalley for the ARC.
I am so thankful to have been chosen as an ARC reader. This was the first book I have read of Maude Winter’s and it did not disappoint in the least. Eva is a character that I feel many people will be able to relate to: with her dry humor and humble aspirations, she is an FMC I loved from the jump. And Davey, while a bit overbearing at times, is a good man who has his own hang-ups from grief, which makes him relatable to readers as well.
This book was well-written and easily enjoyable if you love accidental pregnancy along with billionaire x employee romances. I do wish I had read Daphne and Cal’s books beforehand so that some of the conversation points surrounding the Delphine family connected better, but I was still able to read and understand the plot and the family just fine.
One of the worst books I have read. I kept trying to enjoy but no. The FMC was always in a bad mood or complaining when people were being nice to her or doing things for her. The MMC had no back bone and was like a puppy getting kicked by FMC every time. I my opinion not even well written. Could have done a great story with the theme but definitely did not enjoy.
I’m still buzzing from this book — absolutely obsessed!
Power Move by Maude Winters completely took me by surprise in the best possible way. From the first page, I was hooked. Eva is such a powerhouse — strong, capable, independent — and yet so deeply human. Watching her world flip upside down after one unexpected night, only to find herself working for him? My jaw actually dropped.
Davey Delphine… what can I even say? He’s infuriatingly charming, bossy in that all-consuming way, and the perfect mix of ruthless and tender. I went from wanting to throw something at him to completely melting every time he showed his softer side. Their chemistry was explosive — the tension, the stolen glances, the push and pull — I devoured every second of it.
This book had everything I crave: emotional depth, heat, power dynamics, and characters that feel real. Eva’s strength made me proud; her vulnerability made me ache. The way Maude Winters writes women — fierce but flawed — just hits different.
I laughed, I fumed, I even teared up a little. And that ending? Absolute perfection. I’m still thinking about it. If you love slow-burn tension, strong heroines, and men who will burn the world for them, Power Move is a must-read.
I’m calling it now — this might be my favourite Maude Winters book yet.
4.5 stars I was hooked from the start with Power Move! I’d met Davey briefly in earlier Lakeshore Empire books, so I was excited to finally get his story—and Maude Winters didn’t disappoint. Eva is fierce, independent, and beautifully complex, still healing from past heartbreaks. Davey, on the other hand, is a CEO who can be a little rough around the edges, but his immaturity and vulnerability make him more real and relatable.
Their relationship kicks off with a one-night spark, only for fate to throw them back together when Eva ends up working for his sister…and soon finds out she’s pregnant. What follows is a story full of tension, vulnerability, and growth as they try to balance workplace drama, complicated feelings, and their very different worlds.
I loved seeing familiar characters pop up (especially Daphne!), but this book also stands strong on its own. The pacing was smooth, the writing flowed easily, and I definitely felt every emotion right alongside the characters. Tropes like age gap romance, workplace drama, surprise pregnancy, and a pan heroine hit all the right notes for me.
Whether you’re already invested in the Lakeshore Empire series or brand new to Maude Winters, Power Move is a great pick.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Power Move: An Accidental Pregnancy Workplace Romance by Maude Winters — and I’m so glad I did!
This is Book 3 in the Lakeshore Empire series, but I hadn’t read the previous two and still found it easy to follow as a standalone. That said, I’m definitely going back to read the others now!
One thing that really stood out to me was that the FMC is pansexual. I loved seeing that representation and how her past same-sex relationship was openly discussed. It’s something I on’t see explored enough in romance books, and it added real depth to her character.
The dual POV was another win for me. Getting both Eva’s and Davey’s perspectives gave such a well-rounded view of their emotions and motivations. Their different backgrounds and family dynamics were written with honesty and nuance — especially around the idea that not every family supports your choices, even when you’re doing what’s best for yourself.
If you enjoy billionaire tropes, age gap romances, office romance, or unexpected pregnancy stories, this one checks all the boxes. It’s steamy, heartfelt, and full of emotional tension with characters you can root for.
I’m a sucker for an accidental pregnancy romance and this one delivered!! We have the one night stand, he’s her boss’s boss, and a broken condom and failed plan b! We also have a ton of lgbtqia+ rep and conversations around how this group of people are mistreated, even by their own families! There was a ton of spice in this book, but the love was slow burn and so good.
Dave’s is a golden retriever to the max! He cared for Eva and the babies so much and showed up for them time and time again!! I loved how he always supported her, especially loved the support he gave around her weight and speaking up for her to the doctor and always catering to her and her cravings and making sure she was eating. Him and the trains were so stinkin adorable! Eva is hilariously blunt and honest and has a jaded past with men, relationships , and fertility. Davey had a ton of walls Davey had to slowly dismantle, but he sure did it and did it well!
Thank you NetGalley and Maude Winters for an advanced copy!
I really enjoyed reading Power Move by Maude Winters. The characters are great and we get to know the Delphine family a little more. It has age gap, accidental pregnancy, Boss/employee relationship but with all the twists and drama. Eva is an easily relatable character who is easy to fall in love with as a reader. She has goals and aspirations and works hard for everything. Davey is from a different world and used to being in charge but faces his own insecurities and is still grieving his father. I love that the chemistry is on fire but it isn't all roses and fairy dust perfection from the get go. There is character growth that definitely pulls you in and makes you cheer for the couple. It is very well written and I would recommend it to any romance lovers. I will be back for more of her books for sure.
This is the story of Davey Delphine becoming a man. I was very excited to read Davey's story ever since he appeared in Executive Decision, the first book in the series. Davey is a man-child, as Chloe Markham describes him in one scene. In the first book he was immature and jealous of his sister and of Cal, his father's protege, since his father designated Cal to run the company, but having a baby and being in a relationship with Eva, really made him grow up. The journey Davey and Eva were making from a hookup to a loving couple raising babies together was moving and heart-melting. Eva and Davey are very relatable characters. Eva is smart, independent, and a no-nonsense girl. Davey is considerate, caring. responsible. I was very much engrossed in the story and it was fun meeting again all the members of the Delphine family.
Maude Winters always delivers with her books and this one was another great one! It was a little slow for me in the beginning but as always it picked up and did NOT disappoint. The way that Eva and Davey’s contrasting personalities worked well with each other made me so happy. Davey is more vulnerable whereas Eva is fiercely independent and strong independent woman (also a major love for me). Also having other characters from previous books pop in made me so happy! I loved Daphne and still absolutely do. The spice is perfect in my opinion and yes the language is strong but I honestly love it because it feels more relatable to me. All in all I am BEYOND pleased with Power Move but let’s be honest.. anything Maude Winters writes for us is a win!
Listen… Power Move by Maude Winters did not have to go this hard, but here we are. I cracked this book open expecting a cute little rom-com and instead got hit with flirting so sharp it could slice bread, banter hotter than my straightener, and scenes that made me sit up like, “Ma’am?? Who gave you permission?”
The spice? Delightful. The humor? Actually funny — like snort-laugh, people-stare-at-you-in-public funny. The characters? I would die for them and also lightly bully them because they absolutely deserve it.
It’s sweet, it’s filthy in the best way, and it gave me serotonin AND heart palpitations. A true multi-vitamin of a romance novel.
If you want a book that makes you giggle, blush, and text your group chat “you guys… YOU GUYS,” then this is your sign. 🔥🤣📚
I was honored to be given the opportunity to have this story as an ARC!!
I wasn't going into this book with any expectations, and really enjoyed reading it. This book is the third in this series, and all about David "Davey"Delphine and his relationship with Eva, his sister Daphne's friend and employee. All the other Delphine's are in this story too. There is a "surprise" in this book that neither Davey, or Eva were expecting, but they welcome it with everything they have....LOVE!!! I hope you like this book as much as I did.
I love this world that was built in the first two books. This story is almost a standalone but you will miss out on a bunch of world building if you don’t read the first two. I usually don’t enjoy the accidental/secret pregnancy trope but the difference here was the strength of the FMC. David tries to be a grouchy millionaire but he really is just a cinnamon roll for Eva. There is plenty of spice throughout and they get their HEA.
I was happy to be chosen as an ARC reader. This book is the second book I have read from Maude Winters. It blends drama and typical tropes very well without being cliche. Eva is lively character, that's easy to relate to. There's a nice variety of side characters that add to the story and are easy to remember. Its nice watching the main characters learn and grow. I plan on buying a copy for my mom to read
This has gotten me out of a book slump! I stayed up late to finish this in one go, I was tired for work but totally worth it. Power Move is about Davey and Eva. You can see how they evolve throughout the story. The best stories are when the author puts you on a rollercoaster of emotions - Maude did that with this! I giggled, got upset/frustrated, and got sad. Power Move has it all! I liked that Davey and Eva are relatable.
Let me start by saying this was well written and I found the interactions with her homophobic sister believable although infuriating. BUT both the fmc and mmc were unlikable. The fmc had such an outlook to always assume the worst of intentions and started arguments. Neither were good communicators.
I made it 13% in and I have to pat myself on the back.
I did not enjoy the writing and the FMC needed to be knocked off her high horse as soon as possible. The MMC was awkward but poor guy couldn’t get a sentence out without the FMC jumping down his throat claiming he was either misogynistic or something else. I’m annoyed that I’m siding with the man but here I am
Well written. I wish I had just read the book before. If you’re into steamy billionaire romances with strong female leads and real emotional stakes, this book delivers. It’s the perfect mix of heat, heart, and hope. Overall, I hope y'all like the book as much as I did.
Overall the story is amazing. One detail pulled me out of the experience but it was at the end of the book, so I wouldn't consider the story ruined. I loved both PoVs. They were written so well that I was constantly on the side as whomever I was reading.
This was very well written the main characters have there highs and lows like any real couple. I would definitely recommend this cute sweet he falls first romance to all my friend.
Davet meets Eva one might one and becomes absolutely smitten with her. She doesn't leave her phone number or anything. Imagine both of their shock when Eva shows up at Delphine Industries for her first day in an upper level position and meets the CEO. Daphne had hired her, so Davey never met her. From there, it's a matter of Davey finding out about Eva being pregnant and them navigating their families, work, and how/what type of relationship they'll have. Plenty of cute spots to giggle, as well as swoon. always love Maude's open door heat. I also loved how we got a glimpse of the future of Daphne and Cal. 5 Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I absolutely adore Maude Winters's novels. She writes strong-willed women and men who adore them for it. I was pleased to actually read Davey's story. He really needed a win. When Davey meets Eva at the bar, their magical night lasts forever. I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
