You want to be effective in prayer, but are not seeing the desired and promised results. Your family, city and nation are in shambles, even though you've prayed. Why? Prayer is supposed to be effective! Unfortunately, many don't understand the spiritual realm and how to intentionally navigate the invisible world to see real change. Others are afraid of common spiritual happenings in the context of prayer and often miss powerful opportunities for breakthrough. This book is based on the prayer journey of Jennifer Eivaz in a historically difficult church and even more difficult city. It includes tales of angels, demons, and everything in between. Get ready to have your eyes opened and to receive a CALL TO PRAYER with fresh understanding that will finally bring results.
Great teaching and a very good read. I particularly enjoyed the information on discerning of spirits in the How To Pray Intelligently chapter. I have experienced the "annoyance" manifestation of discerning and it was very helpful to me to hear what the Holy Spirit had taught me confirmed. At first I had questioned whether or not I was walking in love! I also really enjoyed discovering David's appointed 24/7 singers and musicians as a foreshadow to our 24/7 intercession around the world today. That Solomon followed his father's example was indeed wisdom... The overview of the LDS belief system was rich. It so clearly answered some of my questions. Prayer is so important and so necessary. Thank you for your heart for prayer, Jennifer, and for getting this book out there. God's will cannot be done on earth unless we learn how to effectively pray it into the earth. Lift up your heads, o ye gates, ye everlasting doors and the king of glory shall come in!
Prayer is a subject I've been working on studying, so this seemed like a good book to read through.
What I Thought About this Book:
Hummm...This is one of those books that is really hard for me to review. There were parts of the book that I really liked and agreed with. There were elements to spiritual warfare that were discussed that I think far too many Christians are ignorant about. There were inspiring stories and exciting answers to prayer.
The reading style was also easy to follow, and although I had to read the book in lots of short sittings (compared to all at once), it wasn't difficult to understand what was being said. The author also used a lot of Scripture to back up what she was saying.
My problem comes in with the fact that I didn't always agree with how she interpreted the verses she was quoting. Some parts left me shaking my head, or else wrinkling my nose, because I didn't see eye-to-eye with her. There were enough instances like that, that I wouldn't recommend the book, although I did learn a lot from it. Conclusion:
It was interesting to read this book right after reading Dutch Sheets' book, and this book actually quoted Dutch Sheets several time. The Intercessors Handbook was helpful, and eye-opening, but I don't see it being a re-read. Rating:
I'm giving The Intercessors Handbook 3 stars out of 5, and 6 stars out of 10.
*I received this book free from Chosen Books in exchange for an honest review*
This book is exactly what the title says--a handbook for intercessors. Very practical and down to earth. The author teaches who we are in Christ. The Preface starts it off right for me: "We Live in Two Realms".
I could not put this down until the end. Beautifully written and inspired by none other than the Lord's Holy Spirit. Read and be blessed and begin to pray with more power.
