A blind man who won’t die. A new Alpha learning to lead. And London’s oldest vampire has had enough of them both...
Tooth & Claw, Book 3.
The vampire Ellis O’Neill has weathered more attempts on his life in a year than most people suffer in a lifetime. His continued survival is down to a collection of facts he prefers to keep closely-guarded secrets: his lover is a werewolf; he’ll break whatever laws he has to; and he’s willing to become a monster to protect those he loves.
Werewolf Randall Carter is settling into his new role as Alpha. For a man used to a lifetime of bullying and abuse this is a terrifying change, and it’s taking everything he has to work out how to do his best without it all falling down around his ears.
Ellis’ world is about to fall apart. His best friends harbour a secret which could ruin them all. His brother is headed to London to recover their father’s loan. Barb wants him for her revolution. And Charles Devitt wants him destroyed once and for all.
Christmas is coming, but peace and goodwill are nowhere to be found...
Amelia Faulkner was born in Thame, Oxfordshire, and sprouted upward in short order. The ground around Thame is reasonably mucky, especially in the winter, and she can’t be blamed for wanting to get away from it.
Raised on a steady diet of Star Trek and Doctor Who, Amelia stood no chance in not becoming a grade-A geek. She has sat on the board of the British Fantasy Society, contributed fiction and fluff to various published roleplaying games, and written non-fiction for SciFiNow and SFX Magazines. For every positive there is an equal and opposite negative, and Amelia is forced to admit that she loves Wild Wild West.
In her spare time she enjoys travel, photography, walking her Corgi, and trying to convince her friends to replay the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game with all the Goblins decks.
Rating: 4.25 stars This is my favorite installment in the Tooth and Claw series. I found the story to be very suspenseful and it kept me on my toes throughout. I must say that I really love both MCs along with Han and Jay. It was hard to read some of the things that they went through in this book. There are still dangling plot threads. Since the majority of the story focused on Ellis and his issues, the fallout with the werewolves from the previous book wasn’t fully explored. Hopefully we’ll get some sort of resolution in the next book.
Overall, a really good installment in the Tooth and Claw series. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. (As with the others in this series, borrowed this book from a friend.)
This one is the best so far. There were a number of times I wondered how the boys would get out of this. This one really kept my attention and it felt like a lot happened and was achieved. I love Ellis and how he is still struggling with his blindness. It makes him so relatable because he is not perfect. He uses whatever he can to protect himself, and it is not smooth and flawless. It makes an interesting read. Looking forward to the next one
I love these men. I love the simple way they think and work. This is the third in the series. While reading it I was so worried I had to keep peaking ahead to make sure I could live with whatever Amelia Faulker planned for them. She gave these vamps some serious side effects that make their existence a challenge at best. Petal and his pack are now a group I can root for. So, on to the next in the series. Jay & Hans...good stuff.
This is another wonderful addition to this series I love. It's a harsh and ugly modern fantasy world, but it's different and interesting. As in the previous books, the suspense and danger are believable and intimidating. Several times I wondered how they were going to get out of the messes they were in, how they'd survive.
The love story is very much a part of the plot. Ellis and Randall are such an adorable couple (as are the supporting couple, Jay and Han). They seem to have grown together a lot since the last book and it's only been a matter of weeks. Their love is believable, though. It's not without it's trying times, but those are believable as well, but even then, I didn't believe the problems were insurmountable, just difficult, and completely believable in complicated situations. I really appreciated that each had those reactions unlike most books where difficult stuff is just taken in stride.
The solutions didn't just make the problems go away, though. Both times they each said they just needed time to work through it, but they'd do so together. I'm eager to read the next one since like before, this ends on not a cliffhanger but a kind of "What happens now?" that makes me eager to have the question answered. But I don't like reading the last in the series before the following one is published just in case the author decides to write a cliffhanger I can't handle, or never writes another.
A couple of other comments: I like that being "the good guys" doesn't automatically make the Muslims suddenly all pro gay. The older woman believing he's okay as long as he doesn't act on it is more believable.
It's weird that Ellis has this lower class accent when he's the one from money. I guess I don't understand British accents.
Why on Earth did they allow Edison to stay in the room?
It's good that Randall reacts to the turning in a complicated way.
Overall, this was a great read and I highly recommend the series. But you have to start with book one or nothing will make sense.
Several, mainly vampire-related, things come to a head here: Han has a life-threatening heart problem and a desperate Jay suggests a "solution" the Council would punish with execution if discovered, Edison arrives determined to finally get results re. Ellis' large debt to their father, Hughes confronts Ellis with his unallayed suspicions re. Jonas' death, Charles Devitt steps up his efforts to get rid of Ellis for good, ... I don't want to get spoiler-y by saying how all those plots tangle and turn out, but I'll say this was an emotional and exciting installment.
One minor comment: although I didn't bother to mention it in my review of either of the first two books, it's getting increasingly annoying, in a generally well-proofread book (only a couple *other* typos in the whole thing, no worse than pro-printed works), to have every dropped aitch, etc., written with an opening single quote (6-shaped) instead of a proper apostrophe (9-shaped) -- auto-formatting makes the wrong assumption after a space. Plus occasionally it jumps confusingly to a new scene with no extra space to indicate a break -- again, something which has been true through the whole series.
Anyway, on to the next! Let's see what happens, now that the system has had a major shakeup.
They are such a great couple. Their differences compliment each other beautifully. But they both are loyal, kind, generous, and compassionate. The storyline is fascinating and so intriguing it's hard to put down. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Paranormal MM romance and adventure. Vampires, a werewolf, and humans overthrow the most dangerous vampire. Problems keep piling up for our heroes, but they manage to turn things around and use their advantages to end up at the top of the heap. Typos: vocal chords for cords, laid for lay multiple times, "0lay low" for lie low," sentence fragment ("He yelled."), can for cane, in to for into.
Look, I know the leading positions of the Jay-fanclub are already taken, but I can at least try to get into the high ups. So far the best entry in the series, and I really can't wait to read the rest.
Book 3 is amazing...the plot was charged with some action and suspense...the whole story from book 1 til now has come together for an awesome journey..that's what makes a great series...off to book 4
Well wow I was waiting for this third installment, and I can't wait for the next one, I just want more Randall and Ellis am addicted. Its so hard to find a good series since cut and run ended. The third book continues where the second left of,Randall and Ellis are living together, and everything is going great between them. When am reading this story I always want Ellis to be able to see,I feel that it's always a big hindrance when yr in ellis point of view it gets frustrating, you realize yr in the dark just like Ellis unless he uses his power. I love the two world the author set the human a nd supper natural.I was on the edge of my sit when something was happening or a secret was being revealed. Am already on the third book suffices to say I love this series.
I really loved this book and I really enjoy reading this wonderful book
I really loved reading this book. I enjoy reading this wonderful series so far. I have read books one, two, and this one too. I can't wait until the next book comes out. I love the relationship between Ellis and Randall and I also love the relationship between Han and Jay. I love all the characters in these books they are very interesting characters. I love the twists and turns and the edge of the seat action in these books. I will recommend this book and series to everybody I know and to all my friends too.
blind vampire. dog trainer werewolf. This book focuses more on the issues in the vampire side of things. Excellent food from the werewolves (samosas!). And stuff with Han and Jay and Ellis' brother turning up. I was lying in bed last night thinking about this book and wondered why Ellis didn't simply email or write to his father. Brother could still have bulled in the way he did, to resolve the issue.
Lots of things left open - look forward to the next book in the universe. And more character development of the two main guys.
I'm really enjoying every instalment in this series. The overall plot keeps getting deeper as Ellis and Randall fall further into the paranormal world. I love that there are hints of potential future conflict between the two of them...I think there are some things that are going to come back to bite them, and not in the fun way.
This is an excellent m/m shifter series, and I highly recommend it.
3.5* Good story telling, great pacing, bit of drama, the world building and secondary characters also continue to be well developed and the love between Ellis and Randall is as hot as ever.
This is the best so far in the series with only a couple of odd plot lines which came out of nowhere.
Loved it as I knew I would, lots of drama, just wished we had some more details about what exactly happened at the very end when Ellis met Randall's mom.
