Bastian had to have been the most handsome man that Katherine had ever met. It really was unfortunate that he was also the most stubborn, controlling, downright infuriating jackass she’d ever known as well. Oh, and there was the fact that he was a werewolf – a werewolf who has bitten her. Sixteen-year-old Katherine Mayes had never believed in mythological creatures like werewolves or mermaids – certainly not those sparkly vampires that her friend Abby was obsessed with. Even when she’s bitten by a massive animal after a reckless night of teenage adventure and her body begins to change in mystifying ways, she can’t force herself to believe in what she’s convinced is impossible. On a trip to find his parents killer, he smells her! His destine mate. So in wolf from he chases and bites her. From there Kathrine’s life changes forever, as she’s taken away. She was bit by an Alfa wolf and is now part of his pack. She is mad for all she lost, about how Sebastian her Alfa ignores her. The last thing he ever wanted was a mate, never mind a fated mate. When in wolf from his wolf knew what she was to him, so he bit her. Through many trials and tribulations will they find their way to each other? You’ll have to read or listen to find out. Certainly a good story.

I don't like comparing books, or calling them rip -offs, but let's be clear-- this is Twilight if they were werewolves and more assholes in nature, and if Bella was even more pathetic.
Small town Iowa is so lame, the only thing kids can do is walk up to an abandoned "haunted" house. Well, okay. not exactly the "reckless" teenage thing you'd expect after reading the synopsis. Werewolf bites girl.
There is a mean girl in Katherine's life that hates her for no reason. Said girl develops a reason to continue to torture her when her on again off again bf takes an interest in Katherine. Katherine has no interest in the boy, of course, because she is the pure white virgin snow that no man will ever plow. Buy-in she invited the boy to dine with her folks at their prodding.
Katherine is late to dinner and comes home to killed/seriously injured parents and boy.
She runs after mystery man saves her from creepy killer guys. Finds a rapist filled gas station and again is saved by mystery man who has the same eyes as the wolf who bit her *gasp!*
So anyway, she is basically kidnapped by the wolf eye man and his merry band of jackasses. They tell her they're all werewolves and she is too and of course, she goes into denial and tries to run away a bit.
Where are they taking her? Canada. Bet you didn't know werewolf headquarters was in Canada.
She gets sick-possibly from denying her werewolfism, or from standing in the rain briefly, it wasn't quite said which was the case- she wakes up in a big beautiful house, of course belonging to her dreamy but assholeish abductors with the blue blue wolf eyes. Because all the prick needed was power and money in addition to being hot to be the perfect hero love interest of the story.
Katherine has to go to werewolf school until she is 17 so Bastian(asshole alpha lover wannabe) declares he needs to mark her as his so no one will mess with her. How does he Mark her? I shit you not- he pisses on her. Immediately after that we find out that he kind of did that for no reason as it is standard for other packs to recruit from this school and they choose at age 17 so really, piss or no piss, she could still be chosen for another pack. As for no one messing with her because she smells like piss somehow after multiple showers even, that's bs. She is immediately targeted by a rapist student. Of course, one who has a girlfriend who then begins to threaten Katherine exactly the same way the girl at her old school did. Literally, exactly the same. Seriously? You couldn't think of anything better? And why does everyone want to rape this girl? Rapists are apparently very prevalent in whatever world was written here.
Anywho, there's a bunch of Bastian being a controlling asshole with short snippets of looking like he's inexplicably in love with her. Standard poorly written ya.
Something that really bothered me was the total ignorance of Katherine. Her parents are supposedly murdered and she's abducted. She tried to leave once and made it to her sister's house but no one was there and she was dragged back by a livid Bastian. That's it? You don't think for a second to find a newspaper, computer, or phone to try to find out if they're even really dead? There was foreshadowing that one or more of her parents or Brad survived the attack but even had that not existed in the story, I don't think any amount of Stockholm or werewolfism would make me not give two shots about parents I supposedly loved.
There's an obvious sequel coming in which she will learn Bastian lied to her about someone's death and she'll try to run away again or try not to be oh so in love with him or some such bullshit.
Oh, and the big finale fight was short and pointless. The finale battle is supposed to be what the entire book is leading up to, but the villain was hardly mentioned. Once or twice in passing Bastian says something about finding his parent's killers. Then out of nowhere the battle. No skirmish or threat or manipulation beforehand. Talk about an anticlimactic end. It would have made more sense to throw Rip the rapist back in the mix for the final battle and drag all that family drama out in the sequel.
But hey, not like it would have made the book much better either way.
Also, there were typos. I am forgiving of them in indie books, but just so you know, they're there. And more than typos, the language used in the dialog was completely unrealistic and sounded laughably false.

DNFd when the sixteen year old heroine, a brunette as we are reminded on every page, drives two hours into the wilderness in a car to escape someone chasing her from the ruins of her home where her father is bleeding to death instead of driving straight to the police station in her small town to get help after the bad guys take her phone. WTF? tstl stuff that is just lazy writing to create a bad situation for the heroine to wallow around in.

I felt hooked to this story. It had a good pace to it, and something was always going on. I was never bored-however, I was a bit put off with the errors that were missed after editing. You could see the red words from the editor in a few places, and there were KD remarks. Those remarks could be found at the end of the book and were notes from the editor to the author to fix. I'm not sure how these were not spotted by the author during her last proof reading before submitting it.
Otherwise- I truly enjoyed the book. I loved the pack that Katherine is a part of. I liked Katherine for the most part, though she acted bratty and immature a bit. I liked Bastion too, though I didn't fully buy the 'I love you' when it came out. There just wasn't enough for me to believe in it throughout the book. We really needed Bastions point of view, so we could see why he was the way he was.
I'm definitely continuing on to the next story!

Rant starting in 3...2...1.
52% in and done. What. The. F*%#? This was terrible. Absolutely freaking terrible. The "hero" bites the girl (as the title gives away I suppose). Kidnaps her while allowing her to believe that her parents are dead. Allows others to bully her in front of him. Actually picks her up and throws her on a bed to keep her from leaving. Is condescending and ridiculously rude. Punishes her for trying to return to her family. And finally? HE PEES ON HER TO MARK HIS TERRITORY!!! This is the first time I've ever used all caps in a review, but this is just so wrong, and I hope that no young adults ever read this and think any of this behavior is ok. What the actual fuck?
Young girls take note-if anyone ever treats you as Bastian treats Katherine - call the police! It's not sweet. It's not romantic. It's controlling and abusive. He's an asshole-the only way this could be considered romance is if you enjoy Stockholm's syndrome.

If you have watched Episode 1 of Teen Wolf, then you know most of this story verbatim. Katherine was out where she shoukdnky have been, she got bitten by a wolf then her body started changing. She craved raw meat, body temperature was elevated significantly, dense of smell was heightened etc.
Bastian, leader of the wolf pack, comes to guide her through her change. She is resistant at first because the idea of supernaturals is crazy and Bastian is forced to kidnap her and keep her with his pack. A romance begins to develop etc.
The book was poorly written. It was too elementary in wording, predictable, cliche and so formulaic that it felt plagiarized. This is a book one should read before you read Twilight or any more complex PNR. You can’t experience writers like Patricia Briggs or Ilona Andrews and enjoy a book like this because it was sooo basic in plot, grammar and narrative. I can’t even fathom moving on to book 2.

I’m so far past my teen years. For the most part, I love reading YA, and can totally get into the stories, but every once in a while, I struggle. This book was a mess, the writing, the story, the characters,you name it, it was a mess. I have never being so aware and annoyed of the mundane actions of a character or the descriptions used for them. This book refers to the main a character as a brunette or a small brunette no less than 19 times. We get walk through how she washes her hair 3 times and there is another 141 references to hair one way or another.I just couldn't get into the story enough to ignore the obvious hair obsession the author had.
Now for the story the main character gets bitten and start experiencing weird changes, on top of that notes start showing up around her telling her she is on trouble and needs to talk to whoever is writing them. What she does?Ignores them and do not tell anybody either. Fast forward a little bit and she gets kidnapped,told she is a werewolf and that her parents are dead, and move to what can only be describe as a community worthy of The Village. She goes submissively were she should fight and fight the ridiculous things she should know are inevitable to happen, somehow managing to have the hots to the bastard that treats her like dirt for no other reason than he is hot.
That brings me to Bastian the eighteen year old werewolf with a case of midlife crisis. He bites the girl and refuse to explain himself because he is the alpha and everybody has to do as I say. He later kidnaps her and makes her belief her parents are dead for no reason and no explanation (a plot twist that is not even explore in this book any further than that and we are not told either if just the parents survive or if her date did too, his fate is unknown to everybody), he says he is an alpha and needs to protect his pack but he does not prepare her for anything (no discussions about the change, school, expected behavior, how the pack works...nothing) and he runs hot and cold quicker than a microwave.
You take all this and add the ridiculous plot twists like when she try to run but does not grabs a cellphone, when she "rebels" and goes to a club but can be bother to check with her family,an attempted rape that gets brush off like it was not big deal, where HE PEES ON HER TO MARK HER AS PROPERTY!!! and well you have a book that I just finish because there was a blizzard, no entertainment and I already spend the money on it. I only see fit to recommend this books to people that like predictable love stories where the only thing the guy has going for him is that he is good looking.

This ebook has been on my kinle for a while now and i finally decided to pick this up. I'm so glad i did, because this was the kind of supernatural shit i was craving. Usually, i feel like in supernatural romances the guy is the one who is a vampire or a werewolf and the girl is human, and the big problem for them not being together is that. Don't get me wrong, the guy is the one in the very beggining who is a werewolf and the girl is human, but this one starts with our main charecter (Katherine) being bitten by a wolf who is actually Bastian (the male protagonist and alfa of his pack), and i'm here for that! The fact that she became a werewolf right of the bat, and the book is about her coming to terms with that and learning what it means to be a werewolf and be in a pack is so refreshing!
Katherine did get on my nerves sometimes, but i think her reactions are understandable, since she is a 16 year old teenager who literaly got her life changed completely. Although getting on my nerves sometimes, i really appreciated the fact that she didn't just accepted what happened to her from night to day, because that would not be realistic (right, because werewolves are so realistic!), and also i loved the fact that she did not submissed to Bastian. She actually stood up for herself.
I had so much fun with her and Markus interactions, their dinamic was so entertaining. Another thing that i actually enjoyed was that besides her having a pack she still made quite a few friendships outside of them.
From the pack, i think my favourites were Caleb (he's just a sweetheart) and Markus (because he's so sarcastic). I liked Sophie, but i think she's not very developed. And Zane was kind of there but not really, so i'm hoping to see more from him in the next books.
Bastian, wha kind of annoying, i'm not sure i really like him, i have conflicted feelings about him. I do like him and Katherine together, but he needs to chill and realise that she is her own person. One thing that really irked me about him, was when Katherine asked him to teatch her how to fight, in case she ever needed to protect herself, and he denied saying that he was the one who should protect her. Argh, really!
Loved that she decided to learn anyway, thanks Markus for that!
Another thing that i really aprecciated was Brad, someone who appears in the begginig of the book and belongs to her human life, although he was a jock, he was not an asshole and was actually kind of sweet!

Honestly, better than I was expecting. The plot was kind of obvious and I'm kind of tired about the "mates for life" trope. But it gave me the werewolf ambience I was looking for and the level of cringe was surprisingly low.

Katherine is sixteen and lives in a really small town in Iowa. The only thing to do for fun for teens is to walk by the old supposedly haunted house and try to scare each other. Not a good idea during a full moon. Of course she doesn’t know that. After being bitten, she starts having nightmares about the wolf that bit her, and also starts getting new abilities. All of her senses are heightened and now all she wants to eat is rare meat. When she starts getting cryptic invitations delivered to her, things start to get scary. She ignores the invitations to meet and then comes home one night to a nightmare. Kidnapped by a group of werewolves and taken to Canada, Katherine must not only accept what she is, and also learn to thrive among what she considers monsters. But first she must survive her first shift-something that is rare for females to do.
Katherine is feisty and adamant in her refusal to be dictated to by the pack alpha, Bastian. Bastian inherited his alpha role after his parents were murdered by werewolf hunters when he was fifteen. Now eighteen, he has his sister Sophie, and three other young werewolves to care for-besides Katherine. He is the one that bit Katherine, and the others tell her it’s because her scent called to his wolf. There’s more to it than that, but that’s all that she knows. She fights him at every turn and stays in trouble. Pretty soon she gets into trouble with the werewolf counsel in the small werewolf town they live in, as well.
World building? This one has quite a bit of it. In this world, all of the Canadian packs live in a small village together. They have a ruling counsel with a head Alpha. In this case, Bastian’s uncle took over as head after Bastian’s parents are killed. Teenagers attend werewolf school until they turn seventeen, and then they are recruited by other alphas to join their packs. So there is competition between the teens for position. And yes, there are mean girls and bullies in werewolf school.
This story kept me turning pages, and it ended up being a less than one day read for me. My biggest problem with the book were the typos, and my inner editor was having a field day. However, the story was so well told that I forgave it. Some people do have a problem with that and normally I do, but in this case I didn’t lower my rating due to it.
Katherine’s story evolved slowly into a romance and I enjoyed the lack of the insta-love factor for her. Of course Bastian being a werewolf forgives insta-love in my opinion, for him. Their relationship isn’t easy, and Katherine fights him at every turn. This book didn’t have a love triangle or cliffhanger and for a YA book that was really different. From what I understand, there will be a sequel out in 2016 and I will be reading it. I would recommend this to all YA and adult paranormal romance readers.

Not a good idea during a full moon. Of course she doesn’t know that. After being bitten, she starts having nightmares about the wolf that bit her, and also starts getting new abilities. All of her senses are heightened and now all she wants to eat is rare meat. When she starts getting cryptic invitations delivered to her, things start to get scary. She ignores the invitations to meet and then comes home one night to a nightmare. Kidnapped by a group of werewolves and taken to Canada, Katherine must not only accept what she is, and also learn to thrive among what she considers monsters. But first she must survive her first shift-something that is rare for females to do.
Katherine is feisty and adamant in her refusal to be dictated to by the pack alpha, Bastian. Bastian inherited his alpha role after his parents were murdered by werewolf hunters when he was fifteen. Now eighteen, he has his sister Sophie, and three other young werewolves to care for-besides Katherine. He is the one that bit Katherine, and the others tell her it’s because her scent called to his wolf. There’s more to it than that, but that’s all that she knows. She fights him at every turn and stays in trouble. Pretty soon she gets into trouble with the werewolf counsel in the small werewolf town they live in, as well.

I have no idea how to review this book so let's jump right in with the negatives.
- The edition that went to my kindle had editor footnotes. So while reading a footnote would pop up and recommend a different verb or point out redundant word uses.
- There were a lot of grammatical errors. Maybe it was updated in a later edition but they were especially noticeable with editorial footnotes pointing them out.
- This is a ya book with a 16 year old character. And while it nailed down the angst, stupidity, and indecisiveness of teens, there were very out of character moments that belonged in an older book.
- When someone is not being referred to by their name, they are referred to by their hair color. For example - Sophie struggled to reach the top shelf. The blonde turned and asked Zane to help. The brunette reached the cookies for Sophie. (Not a direct quote, but you get the idea)
And now it's time to point out some cliches.
- The "average" heroine that a lot of boys like.
- High school mean girl drama, at regular school and then again at werewolf high school
- Main character gets kidnapped. Multiple times.
- Even though our heroine is plain, every guy wants her and most girls are jealous
- Overbearing alpha male love interest.
- Heroine has multiple bouts of unconsciousness
- Love interest hiding some very important information for heroine's best interest
Despite these flaws, this book has it charms. It's a so bad it's good book. Maybe it's the fact that the cliches and grammar errors were pointed out, so it felt like a book version of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Markus, the pack beta, is a delight. He can't stand Katharine. He eventually warms up, but he's a tough love guy and he's sarcastic too. Clearly he's just my type.
There no love triangle. There's the instalust mate hormones for Bastien, but there's no instalove for the heroine.
I can't really say I would recommend this book. Obviously I finished it, and I have already read books two and three. They don't really get better. But some part of me did enjoy it. So maybe that makes me a glutton for punishment.

This is the problem I have with stories written in third person...they get too wordy and words to describe people become redundant. How many times was the heroine going to say "that redhead, that blonde"??? This book truly needs a good editor.
The book started out strong, but then when the heroine was kidnapped, it fell flat and a lot of it had to do with the writing style for me. The plot moved at a slow pace with the plot point that neither arrived too late or too fast. Honestly, I don't think anything happened. Even at the end, the heroine was still confused about turning into a werewolf and she did not know the status of Bastian and her relationship.
I wanted a clean paranormal with werewolves so I was very disappointed. You may love this book. I am not telling you not to read it.

Just wow
The only thing that bothered me from this book was while I was reading I caught some errors. A he where there should of been a she. A word whose spelling is close to what the author actually intended to use. Other than all of that, I don't think I have laughed or cried so many times while reading. I absolutely loved his book. I do have to say I wish Katherine wasn't so whiney, but then again she is 16. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Wow, I really enjoyed this book, I thought it was really brilliant.
I feel like all the bad things happened at the beginning of the book, and the rest of Bitten was mainly about fixing/dealing with the problems, with a few little issues throughout.
Didn't really end on a cliff-hanger but I am definitely going to be reading the next one.

I liked the story. My problem is with the editing, or lack thereof. I had to stop reading numerous times to reread something that made absolutely no sense. That ruined it for me.

I liked this book and had high hopes for the trilogy but the h Just grated on me. She clearly has a magical vagina that makes men want to rape, kidnap and kill her over and over again. And she learns no lessons. She keeps going places on her own even though she has threats from every corner - and ends up in the same situation just over and over again.
There was little character development. Our h ‘snaps’ at everyone all the time. I struggled to find anything likeable about her even though I felt there was potential to build her into a kickass wolf.
Also there was no fun in this book. Zero. No smiles. No giggles. Nothing. Even her school friends are annoying - I didn’t want her going out with them ever.
Finally I wasn’t a fan of the writing style - this should have been first person POV. It wasn’t. The flashbacks were weird and misplaced - they should have just been written into the narrative in real-time. The h is referred to as ‘the petite brunette’ all the livelong day and I can’t anymore.
However. The plot is there. It moves. There’s action. Caleb is a cutie.
I’m desperate for a decent shifter series. Something like the Boulder Wolves Trilogy or Werelock trilogy. Ever felt like you’ve just read all the good ones?? 🐺

I really did enjoy this book, I am not understanding how so many people are comparing this to twilight.. I don't see the comparison at all. I will say that Bastian was a bit of a jerk when it came to trying to protect Katherine but seriously I could understand why he was doing it. Instead of talking to him and the rest of the pack like a grown up she sneeks around behind their backs like a child. I guess being 16 will do that to you.
I do feel like the feelings that they both have for each-other at the end are a bit extreme for children at that age but I guess being destined mates will do that to you. I really hope there is some more information about Cain. I would be interested to know of the dynamic between him and the brother before the death.

I'm a sucker for books that have Twilight vibes because they bring me back to the younger me when I fell in love with reading. Unfortunately, this one was mediocre at best. The story wasn't bad, but I really struggled with the author constantly referring to characters by their hair color... the blonde, the redhead (best friend), the large dark haired man (love interest), the small brunette (herself). It was just weird, and made those referenced seem like strangers instead of people she knew. I don't think I will continue this series, but will continue searching for a fix. Suggestions welcome. :)

Interesting and enjoyable story. I liked Bastion and Katherine but had to mentally adjust their ages. While some of the character’s actions and decisions didn’t always make a lot of sense, (I guess because they’re teenagers with irrational minds and raging hormones) this was a quick and entertaining read filled with a cast of interesting and loveable characters (mostly Markus…I loved Markus).

Did not finish. It started out alright. But the MC got very annoying, entitled, whiny and just awful once the road trip began. Her reaction to trauma was also extremely unrealistic.
If you want something like Twilight, go for this. But beware, there are few likable characters.

My 9yo and I love this book. There is some kissing and the start of a boy assaulting her… forced kissing is all that happens. I love the girls defiance and though they haven’t said it yet I am wondering if she is also an alpha. Not as strong as Bastian. I love the action and the romance and the trials and lessons. Great story.
